Guest Reviews
- WING SHAN (10/5): - Excellent staffs, both Mike and Aziz are very helpful.
- Lee (10/5): - Most beautiful hotel in Bukhara, love to see the stunning decorative painting in the original dining room that has not been restored. The owner and staff were very knowledgeable and helpful in making recommendations. Breakfast was also the best I’ve had anywhere.
- Robert (10/5): - A charming place to stay. Friendly staff, huge breakfast and rooms nicely decorated with unique murals. A great stay and outstanding value.
- Ed (10/5): - Lovely hotel - full of character. About a 5-minute walk from the edge of the Old City. M Staff could not have been kinder or more helpful. Highly recommend staying here.
- Peter (10/5): - very helpful staff and good location
- David (10/5): - Hotel was excellent, in central position, lovely staff, excellent breakfast - comfortable, spacious room (junior suite). Manager (owner) was most helpful. Highly recommended.
- Jonathan (10/5): - What a great little hotel in a city that has so many guesthouses. I would highly recommend the hospitality of the owner and his well trained and kind young team. They were very helpful for my visit to Bukhara (an amazing city). I would recommend the Jr. Suite, as it doesn't cost much more and is spacious. Finally, the rooftop is very tranquil and a great place for an end of evening drink or break in the middle of a sightseeing day. I also had a massage for $20 USD and she was very good. Highly recommend this lovely little hotel. Also, eat at Ayvan, superb restaurant and Bukhara luckily benefits from many. Also a very new one called Restaurant Jam just across the road from this hotel. Enjoy.
- Robert (10/5): Magnificent property with amazing staff - Such a magnificent hotel! Each room is ornate and unique, and the family that runs the place could not have been nicer. Can’t wait to go back again one day.
- Maria (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful hotel and lovely staff. Very welcoming and really were so hospitable. Thank you so much
- Sarah (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay at Amelia hotel, the hotel has character& history befitting to Bukhara and is centrally located. The customer service is exceptional, all the staff had impeccable manners and were so courteous and welcoming, especially Akbar who couldn’t do enough to make my stay comfortable. I enjoyed my conversations with the manager who gave me an insight into Uzbekistan culture and life.
If I travel to Bukhara again I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else besides Amelia Boutique hotel!
Thank you all for making my stay amazing !
- Walter (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel with great service - Exceptional service, nicely decorated rooms and perfect location. This is a gem of a boutique hotel. It looks like an old mansion with attractive common area and patios. The room is decorated with a Thousand and One Nights vibe. Meticulously clean. Modern large bathroom. Effective AC, super quiet at night and comfy bed. The breakfast has everything you can wish for, local delicacies, fresh fruit and vegies and eggs to order. The staff makes you feel at home. Steps away from the major attractions of this magical city. Highly recommended.
- David (10/5): - A lovely place. Excellent location for the old town, easily found by taxi drivers, clean, quiet and friendly. The hotel was a merchant’s house with a lot of character. They arranged rail tickets for me and an excellent guide. Breakfast was outstanding- local delicacies freshly prepared, fruit, salads, so much and beautifully presented.
- dennis (10/5): - Staff was wonderful-extremely helpful and pleasant. Breakfast outstanding.
- Kyle (10/5): 10/10 - This hotel was exceptional, the staff knew me by name and were incredibly welcoming, helpful and chatty, and offered a very generously sized breakfast. One of the best places I stayed in my month in Uzbekistan. I would definitely stay again
- John (10/5): Wonderful boutique hotel - It is a beautiful boutique hotel set in a historic merchant house in the centre of old Bukhara. The place was full of character. Further the staff were amazing friendly and went out of their way to help ensure out stay was enjoyable.
- Rick (10/5): - Very nice comfortable beds, friendly staff, and a great location, this place is a winner!
- Verified traveler (10/5): overall - Clean hotel close to the old part of the city. Staff worked hard. Nice breakfast. Internet was not the greatest (a bit frustrating to do some remote work) okay for easy web. Big comfortable bed.
- Abdullah (10/5): - It is a small boutique hotel which used to be a rich man’s house long time ago and then converted to a hotel. I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. It has an outstanding staff willing to help their guests in all aspects, they really go the extra mile to provide all help you need. I had a problem with my mobile phone cell line and the guy at the reception made the translation for me which helped a lot as I don’t speak Uzbek nor Russian.
Their breakfast is amazingly cooked which tastes really delicious like a homemade breakfast fast. Most of the staff speaks fluent English especially guys at the reception.
Also, the location is in the heart of old Bukhara city with 10 minutes walk to all attractions in the old city.
All in all, I strongly recommend and would definitely stay again with them next time I am in Bukhara.
- Jason (10/5): - Friendly, locally-apportioned and centrally located, this was a perfect place to spend time in Bukhara and recharge with a quiet, cool, clean place to sleep.
- Karen (10/5): - Traditional hotel. Junior suite was excellent. Staff very helpful and attentative. Bakhodir arranged train tickets, trip to surrounding areas and local taxi's. Full of helpful advice.
Lovely roof terrace overlooking city. Nothing was too much trouble, we were well looked after and would recommend !
- Patrick (10/5): Everything was pretty much perfect. Would return. - Can't complain about anything. Great location, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, good AC for hot days.
- Victoria (10/5): - Traditional merchant's house with many unique features. Staff were all very welcoming and helpful.
- Cheryl (10/5): - This is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in. And that is saying something because we have lived and traveled abroad for several years. The historical remodeling of the hotel is excellent. You can’t beat location. And the service is amazing. The proprietors and staff were constantly asking us if we needed anything, if we wanted more tea. The breakfasts were superb. You can’t go wrong with this one.
- mounif (10/5): - Next to historic Bukhara. Very friendly staff that are fluent in English. You feel at home. Highly recommended
- Matteo (10/5): - Wonderful place. Lovely, friendly atmosphere, extremely friendly and helpful manager and staff.
Excellent breakfast. Strongly recommended!
- Ahmad (10/5): Highly recommend - Amazing stay, feels like home and family house, dedicated staff, Mr. Bakhodir the manager and owner was so freindly and supportive, he assisted us in bringing the medical officer to the hotel to do the Covid PCR test, done ate around 9am, and the certificates were delivered to the hotel at 12noon, it costs about USD10 each and paid to the medical officer directly, the hotel is 18th century traditional Bukhari house within 10 minutes walk to the old city and historical landmarks and the old 16th century bazar, we asked Mr. Bakhodir for a local guide before just a day from arriving Bukhara, the guide Ms. Nelu was amazing with perfect knowledge and English, the hotel also provided a pickup from the train staition 15km from Bukhara, also helped in providoing a taxi to take us back to the station after spending two nights in Bukhara, the Breakfast was great with local Bukhara cusine food including home made cherry and fig jam, local fruits, eggs, and local breakfast pastries, the dining room is well preserved 18th century with original features untouched, teas and coffees were provided as complimentary throughout our stay anytime, we really and strongly recommend this hotel if you are planning to visit Bukhara.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - AMAZING hospitality, helpfulness, friendliness, service. Homemade & plentiful breakfast. Well located. Very good value.
- Aaron (10/5): Just book it. - Fantastic. Great location, wonderful family service, good breakfast, comfortable bed. What more could you hope for?
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had a pleasant stay at Amelia. The hotel building itself is full of character. Staff were friendly and attentive. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was tasty!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Each room was done up differently which was nice and we liked the breakfast room as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Amelia - convenient comfortable and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful
- Brian (10/5): Glorious hotel in Bukhara - Stunning hotel in an old Jewish merchants’s house in Bukhara. The owner and all of the staff are delightful and made our stay a pleasure. Big comfortable bed in the mirror room - decor, bathroom, everything perfect. Breakfast was delicious and very generous. Prices are more Western European than Uzbekistan but the Amelia will make for a very comfortable stay.
- Philippe (10/5): - Excellent location, very clean and lovely staff. Really nice and huge breakfast also. highly recommended!
- Julian (10/5): - Very nice hotel with comfortable king beds!
The owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful!
- Nyagaka (10/5): Outstanding Stay and Service! - Excellent experience. Appreciated, in particular the following:
1) Early check in, very accommodating.
2) Arranging the most knowledgeable and personable guide I had in Uzbekistan by far.
3) I had a lot of details around my stay including getting logistical issues sorted. Their attention to detail and service level, especially Talib at the front desk, was exceptional.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - You are likely to have a “HOLY SH*T!” Moment when you are shown your room. And the breakfast room. And the roof terrace. That, and the staff insists you take complimentary tea or coffee at all hours of the day. Favorite guesthouse in seven weeks in Central Asia.
- SARITA (8/5): Very good stay. - The hotel is conveniently located just at the start of the old city. The staff is very friendly and helpful especially Jamshed, Saeed and the lady serving breakfast. The staff obliged but giving us an extra hour to check out. The rooms are not overly large but very quaintly decorated. However it was disappointing to see that laundry had been hung outside our room on a string the day we were checking out.
- Ardyth (10/5): - The Amelia Boutique Hotel is a beautiful old Bukharan merchant’s house converted into a hotel. The hotel is full of character! Rooms are large with beautiful molding in the wall, arched doorways and elaborately carved wooden doors. And even with all this character, the rooms are outfitted with every convenience - free Wi-Fi, large flat-screened tv, mini-fridge, etc. Bathroom is sparkling clean with very nice fittings.
Best thing about this hotel is the staff!! Especially Bakhodir, at reception, who went over and above to help me with planning my trip - helped me obtain train tickets, arranged for early check-in and late check-our due to my travel plans, etc. Bakhodir graciously and enthusiastically greeted me upon arrival, and he and the staff have catered to my every need - I feel very well taken care of, with maps and lots of information on seeing the sights of Bukhara! Highly recommend Amelia Hotel and it’s staff!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Truly a find. Gorgeous small hotel, excellent and friendly service, super location, unbelievable breakfast room. What is not to like!
Worth the journey to Uzbekistan.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Замечательно - Right in the Jewish quarter of Old Bukhara. Very beautiful and authentic experience. Close to center and helpful staff for navigating the city. Really enjoyed my stay, particularly the roof area where one can enjoy tea and traditional tables and enjoy a cool breeze no matter how hot the day is.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I liked absolutely everything about this place. Nice and clean. Fantastic location. Right next to the Chinara restaurant, where you could eat right after the arrival. The hotel has a very nice terrace on the top with traditional topchans. The staff was very friendly and always present whenever I needed them. The breakfast place is like a small museum 18th century, under UNESCO protection. Highly recommend this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel in Bukhara - The rooms are beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. Breakfast is good and included. In the afternoon and evening they brought us tea to our room for free. The staff were nice and helpful. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from the main square and walking distance to all major sights, restaurants and other amenities. There is an ATM in the hotel next door.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely relaxing, quiet hotel next to old town. - We had a great stay at Amelia. It is very well located on edge of old town. The hotel has a lovely relaxing ambience with a great roof terrace. Good breakfast and very attentive staff. A special mention must be made of Tolib who made this hotel extra special. He is a good source of restaurants and things to do. The room was lovely and there were nice touches like free tea and coffee. Would recommend that you take your own toiletries as only liquid soap is provided.
- Jim (10/5): - Highly recommend this hotel!! Location and price are excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The photos of the hotel on hotels.com are genuine . Truly charming and very comfortable . Great location too !
- Craig (10/5): Fantastic - From the moment we arrived for our 3 night stay, Doston, an amazing, kind guy on reception saw to all our needs with courtesy and politeness. His English was very good which allowed us to get everything we needed. The location was amazing, the rooms vibrant and all completely decorated differently.
The breakfast was good, eggs made for you and everything else brought to your table, fruit, cheese, meat, pancakes, cakes, etc.
The roof top area is a great way to spend the late afternoon and evening watching the sun go down with a beer or two.
Tolib, also works there and he also was very good with helping us with what we needed.
We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.
- Craig (10/5): Highly recommended - Doston who worked in reception was amazing and the personalised service was second to none. The rooms were individualised and breakfast was brought to your table and included; eggs, pancakes, fruit, drinks, cake, etc. The location was great for all sites.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic building, beautiful rooms, great location, wonderful breakfast, and superbly kind and helpful staff - an all-around perfect experience.
- Andrea (10/5): Don't miss an opportunity to stay here - I booked based on the previous reviews, pictures and location. It was even better than expected. The staff was amazing, so helpful getting train tickets and a fantastic guide. Breakfast was the best we have ever had at a hotel. Beds very comfortable. Fast reliable Wi-Fi. Great air conditioner. Quiet room. Far exceeded our expectations and highly recommend.
- C (10/5): Exceptional - Amelia is one of the nicest hotels I have ever had the pleasure of staying in. The staff were helpful and friendly, the location is excellent. The rooms were truly breathtaking - each one is beautifully and ornately decorated and situated around a shady courtyard. The comfort and cleanliness were greater than I have had in hotels twice the price in the same area. I can't recommend it highly enough!
- Scott (10/5): The best stay of our trip! - This was without doubt the best stay during our time in Uzbekistan. The team go the extra mile and are so friendly - the quality of English is superb and they even helped us out with issues with our mobile phone. Local influence and traditions, coupled with a clear western influence makes this a great place to stay and would challenge many boutique places in the UK. The roof terrace, with a cold beer and a good book is a must - either for quiet relaxation or to meet other guests. The rooms are very well kitted out and the beds were the softest and most comfortable of our trip (Uzbekistan seems to prefer hard mattresses). We had a junior suite - a decent size, with a lounge area and with a copy of a famous frieze located in Samarkand across the wall. The historic dining room, used for breakfast, is a stunning place to kick start your day. If we ever go back, we'll be sure to stay again.
- Joseph (10/5): A++++ Amazing experience - The Amelia Biutique hotel was in one word AMAZING! Great location nearby all of the major sites in Bukhara (and some great restaurants), the hotel itself was a work of art with each room uniquely decorated. But perhaps the best aspect of my stay was the friendly staff at the hotel. Everyone was super accommodating offering tea throughout the day and helping me with logistics to make my 3 day trip as fun filled as possible. I couldn't have asked for a better experience and hope to return very soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful place to stay in Bukhara - Really lovely hotel and a great change from the large faceless places we stayed in Tashkent and Samarkand. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, the rooms incredibly charming and the breakfasts the best we had in Uzbekistan. Would highly recommend staying at the Amelia.
- Sasha (10/5): Great experience - Lovely little hotel. Great location. Amazing breakfast. Very attentive staff, especially Kodir, who went out of the way to make my stay most comfortable. Would definitely recommend this place.
