The front desk staff was super friendly especially Austin, Tia & Jada ! Austin checked me in and also came up when I requested for our luggage to be taken down. Also, Mar from valet, very sweet kid. So polite, friendly and all around charismatic. The ladies in housekeeping were very friendly as well. I don’t remember her name but she came up to bring us a microwave to 1121 and was very sweet as well! This location was amazing! I will definitely be back. If there are any incentives for reviews for the staff please be sure they receive them. Very great team!

- 183dariusw (4/5): Need improvement - Good afternoon, I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to share my experience staying at your hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. First, I would like to say that I truly enjoy staying at your property—the rooftop is amazing, and your staff has always been excellent and welcoming. However, I would like to offer some constructive feedback regarding the rooftop seating policy. I recently had friends visiting from out of town, and I was excited to bring them to your hotel and showcase the rooftop. Unfortunately, after reserving a table, we were asked to that we will have to get up because this table was reserved for the next gas after two hours. This created an uncomfortable and somewhat embarrassing situation, especially since we were actively ordering food and drinks and hoping to continue enjoying the space. From a guest’s perspective, especially when hosting visitors, it would be great to have a more flexible arrangement. One suggestion I’d like to offer is designating certain tables specifically for hotel guests, separate from those reserved for outside visitors. For example: • A section reserved for hotel guests only • A section for outside reservations This could help ensure that guests staying at the hotel feel accommodated and can fully enjoy the amenities without time pressure, especially when entertaining visitors. During my first stay, I also noticed that many of the prime tables were reserved, which limited the ability to fully enjoy the rooftop experience. I believe that making a few adjustments to the current system could greatly improve the experience for hotel guests while still being fair to outside patrons. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of balancing guest satisfaction with operations, and I truly believe these small changes could make a big difference in overall guest experience. Christine at the front desk was very accommodating and even gave us wine on our arrival even though we were late to check in. Valet was also super helpful, Danillo on check in and Drazen and Anthony on check out, all offered and assisted with bags, were very fast getting the car and super friendly. Highly recommend all. I forgot the names of the other staff but everyone we encountered was very professional and organized. 100% would stay here again. Highly recommend.

- Climber579943 (10/5): Great Experience from Beginning to End - Came for the ACC Tournament. A perfect location to walk to the games and be far enough away from the crowds overnight. All staff were very friendly and accommodating from the reservation process through checkout. Room was spacious and clean. Angeline’s Dinner was delicious and service was great. A special shout out to the valet attendants who were super efficient while being kind and friendly. We would stay ant the Kimpton Tryon again.

The view was amazing! I was disappointed in the front desk staff - they added an $100 charge and almost didn’t let my friend back up to the room when she clearly came down in her pajamas (she didn’t have her room key or phone). That was scary experience in the middle of the night! I will clarify when I checked in staff was okay but it was the over night staff and check out staff that has me considering other hotels next time.

- WickedlyWonderful (10/5): Excellent Staff & Dining at Kimpton Tryon Park - We stayed at the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel for our anniversary, which unfortunately coincided with Valentine’s Day weekend. While we didn't receive a room upgrade (booked via Chase Travel "The Edit") or early check-in, these constraints were understandable given the high-demand holiday. The room was clean and impressively spacious for a central Uptown location. While the lobby was just average, the Manager’s Reception was a highlight, offering a great selection of wine and drinks—the perfect spot to relax before our dinner at Angeline’s. I highly recommend dining there; however, I found the breakfast to be less impressive. Other standouts included the beautiful rooftop bar and a well-equipped, clean gym. While this property feels a bit less luxurious than other Kimptons, the staff is truly excellent. The team hosting the Manager’s Reception on both nights was particularly welcoming.

Guests are clearly not treated equally — policies seem to change depending on who you speak to, and reasonable concerns were dismissed rather than addressed. Instead of focusing on guest experience, the staff appeared more concerned with minimizing refunds than resolving the actual problem. Unfortunately, this left us feeling undervalued and unheard. I would not stay here again based on how issues were handled.

I didn’t like that the location was right in the center of everything. It was far too noisy at night. It made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Just to clarify, the noise wasn’t coming from other guests, but from people outside walking up and down the street throughout the night. I also didn’t like the fact that the property doesn’t have a pool.

But the exit parking gates were nearly impossible to use. We had to contact the attendant by intercom in order to pay with instructions that were not posted on the machine.

Every person from the moment we checked in was attentive, friendly, and ready to be of service. Kala welcomed us with such incredible energy, we felt like we were friends! The valet staff Dra, Shawn, & Kaylin were always so happy, friendly, willing to hold conversations and just be good humans. Never did they let me open my own door, lift a bag, truly exceptional. The housekeeper was so sweet and kind. Every request was handled immediately and with pleasure. We love that they allowed our pups with no concerns or questions asked. The only one negative experience we had was when we ordered room service from Amelia’s. My husband stated it was the worst steak he had ever had. He requested medium and it came well done charred. The pasta and fried artichokes were very salty. Other than the in dinning experience , the staff here truly make the difference in our stay. Thank you!

The entire staff was nice, but service overall was below average except for Angeline's an at the rooftop bar. TV remote in suite didn't work. No QR code in room for dining. Called and they didn't bring it to the room. Only a very cursory cleaning of the room. It's also very noisy. In room dining is average.

He was attentive with an incredible professional demeanor. The hotel was spectacular front desk, exceptional. The only disappointment, I requested a late check out for 1pm (one of the main perks of being a club member), but was denied. Understanding the hotel may had reach their limit, but it would’ve made my stay a 10.

- pbstrickland1 (2/5): Horrible Customer Service - I'm highly pissed by this experience even though I wasnt a guest this time but dropping an Instacart order for an customer in the hotel. Andre rudeness was not called for especially while I was just patiently waiting. Valet was pleasant as usual and usually the Front desk staff is as well. For some reason that wasn't the case at all If management will look at the tape on Nov 6, 2025 around.9:30pm-10pm. I don't appreciate the body language and tone.from Andre. And for someone that has 7 years experience in Hotel Management experience. He certainly doesn't need to first contact with guest if he is going to pick and choose who he is going to treat respectfully. I will certainly report Andre and my experience to corporate as well.

I’m not sure if it’s because I was place in a corner room , but the balcony space was small it barely had enough room for a chair . This room was booked as a staycation for my birthday. I arrived around 830pm the day of check in , I decided to park at the nearby parking garage instead of valet because I didn’t plan to drive much . I was instantly on alert due to all of the homeless surrounding the building and near by establishments . The majority of the time I stayed in my room unless I went to grab food . Due to a family emergency I needed to check out of the room 1 day early ( originally scheduled to check out Friday September 5th , checked out around 11pm September 3rd ) . When checking out I spoke to the male Hispanic manager and he advised me that because I booked through a 3rd party I would need to contact them about a refund for the one night . I called bookings the following day , bookings.com advised their refund process .. which was they would contact the property via their portal to obtain the refund for the one nights stay , the property would then send the funds directly to bookings.com, bookings.com would then refund me directly . I was also advised to contact to property to expedite the situation as well as alert them of the request . When contacting the property the receptionist was given instructions from her manager. The receptionist was friendly however she did not sound confident in her responses and I requested to speak with a manager to get a clear understanding. I advised the manager that there was a bit of confusion with the receptionist being the middle man . She responded passive aggressively and stated the only middle man is bookings.com and I needed to speak with them . If I recall correctly she said her name was Angel , I wanted to include the name given and mention this as during my stay the only manager I saw on duty was a male Hispanic and he was very friendly and knowledgeable. Angel could in fact be a manager but she could use some training on hospitality. It has now been well over a month since my stay I have followed up with bookings.

Kayla aniyah,jar and Nolan exhibited professionalism while assisting me in providing my wants. They where curtious from stay to finish a phone call to let me know it was being worked on, and really came through for my 50th bday. The kind gift left in my room The handwritten note wow world class customer service. Kimpton you have your selves so excellent employees keep them and ensure you meet there needs as they are meeting your guests need above and beyond.

The staff was friendly, professional, and attentive, but a special shoutout goes to Aniyah H., who went above and beyond to make my birthday weekend truly unforgettable. She surprised me with thoughtful touches that made the celebration feel so personal and special — she is a gem! The hotel itself is beautiful and spotless, with a chic, relaxing atmosphere. The location couldn’t have been better — we were able to park once and walk everywhere we wanted to go. The rooftop bar offered stunning views of the city and was the perfect spot to unwind in the evening. Everything about our stay was seamless, from check-in to check-out. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Charlotte. Highly recommend the Kimpton Tryon Park for anyone looking for a luxurious yet welcoming getaway!

- Debra (4/5): - THE PROPERTY OUTSIDE THE HOTEL WAS FULL OF YOUNG PEOPLE WITH VERY LOUD MOTOR CARS CIRCLING THE STREETS FOR HOURS, LATE NIGHT TO MID-MORNING. ALSO, THERE WERE THREE GUNSHOTS AND I WATCHED PEOPLE RUNNING AND SEVERAL POLICE LINE THE ROAD RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL. THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE HOTEL AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT I PAID. I DID NOT GET ANY SLEEP THE WHOLE WEEKEND.

- 641jehana (2/5): Experienced Racial Profiling, Discrimination, refusal to grant refund, unwarranted police escalation- Beware!! - Date of Stay: August 2025 I am writing this review with a heavy heart and a sense of duty to warn other travelers, particularly people of color, about the deeply disturbing and discriminatory treatment my family and I endured at this hotel. What should have been a celebratory trip turned into a traumatic event due to the actions of the IHG/Kimpton management and staff. The issues began while attempting to gain priority access to Merchant and Trade Restaurant. We were paying guests and greeted with palpable coldness and suspicion, a stark contrast to the warm welcome offered to white guests granted ahead of us. Our request to gain access to the bar and restaurant scrutinized excessively. The company stated they were at capacity and allowed other Caucasian guest entry without incident. After lengthy wait, we weee denied access for no reason but the color of our skin. The situation escalated dramatically and minutes later, the hotel manager appeared and, without any further provocation or a reasonable conversation, accused us of being "disruptive" and threatened to have us removed. The most shocking and humiliating moment came when, after we asserted that we were being unfairly targeted, the manager stated they were "calling the police to handle the situation." We were not being loud, we were not breaking any rules; we were simply existing as a group of people of color in a public space. The police arrived, and we were forced to endure the shame of being questioned in the middle of the lobby while other guests stared. The officers, to their credit, quickly assessed that there was no issue and left. However, the damage was done. The hotel management had weaponized the police against us for no reason other than their own apparent bias. We cut our trip short and checked out immediately. Subsequent complaints to IHG corporate have been met with generic, template responses, lack of real accountability and denial of racial profiling, discrimination, and wrongful police escalation causing severe emotional distress. Final Warning: This was not an isolated case of poor service and discrimination allegations; this was a clear case of racial discrimination and the dangerous, wrongful escalation to law enforcement. This hotel company and its management have created a culture and environment that is hostile and unsafe for guests of color. I would not recommend this property to anyone, but I feel a profound responsibility to specifically caution Black and Brown travelers. Your money, your safety, and your dignity are not secure here. Spend your hard-earned money at an establishment that values all guests equally. Company failed to honor refund request after police escort us off the property. Refund was not issued until formal complaint was forwarded to CEO and Robert Hannigan 11 to 12 days after the incident. Company has denied allegations even though there are online numerous reviews citing similar concerns by other guests. We have no choice but to proceed with an adversarial approach.
- SoLucy424 (2/5): High Price: Low Quality: No air, broken shower, HUGE parking fees, reservation problem, noisy, front desk not at hotel - Our daughter was married this past weekend. The couple chose the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel in Charlotte as one of the two hotels to reserve guest rooms. The Kimpton was supposed to be the more elegant and higher-scale hotel of the two. Staying at the Kimpton was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. *No air conditioning *Broken shower *Huge parking fees, drink prices, and gift bag fees *Reservation problems *No early check-in-- though promised *Front-desk workers are not always at the actual front desk but overseas and make promises the hotel refuses to keep *Street Noise Problem One: NO Air Conditioning in 80-90 degree weather. Our room's air did not work well the first night. It was late when we checked in. We made do. The next night, the air didn't work at all. They brought us a fan that couldn't even stand up on its own. I had to prop it up with a luggage bag. The fan was useless. Problem Two: When someone was taking a shower the morning we left, the shower handle fell off when she tried to turn off the hot water. It was scalding. Problem Three: Parking was $30 every time the wedding party or guests left the building. Our family had three cars at the hotel--transporting decorations, dresses and tuxes, shoes--everything. My husband and I had to drive our two cars all the way home after the wedding and then head back to the hotel at 2:00 am to save some on parking fees. We still had to pay $220. Problem Four: My daughter and I spent hours making gift bags for the guests. We had to pay the Kimpton $5 a bag to have the bags given out to guests at check-in. The hotel RIGHT across the street (that costs much less AND has a pool), the Courtyard Charlotte City Center, charged NOTHING for the bags. Problem Five: We initially reserved three nights at the hotel thinking we might need an additional night before the wedding. I was told if I cancelled the reservations by September 18, there would be no charge. I cancelled on the 18th. We were charged anyway. The manger told us that the person we spoke to on the phone wasn't actually a front-desk worker at the hotel (even though she told us she was) and couldn't make that promise to us. (The person who made my reservation was outside the U.S.) The manager eventually told us that he would reimburse us as "a favor." However, we haven't seen the reimbursement yet--though the $900 room charge (and the $5 Sprite charge) went through immediately. Problem Six: The same person who booked our reservations told us that the families of the bride and groom would be allowed to check in at 11:00 instead of at 3:00. The week of the wedding, I called the hotel again to make sure of the check-in time. I was told that I must have misunderstood the representative. (I had not.) No one would be allowed to check-in early. There was a rare chance that no one would use the room the night before. We could call that morning to see if the room was already empty. We had told our guests that the rooms would be available at 11:00. When we called that morning, we were informed again that we would have to wait until 3:00. Problem Seven: A wedding guest said the street noise was so loud that she couldn't sleep. When she called the front desk, they initially told her they would bring a noise machine. However, she later learned the hotel had given out all the noise machines they had.
- John (8/5): - My biggest complaint was the street noise at night. In particular the car "drag racing" that occurred at night especially on Friday night. I was on the 7th floor and it was very noisy. The hotel should really try to get the authorities to curtail that.

- E2666QTjasonh (2/5): Nice hotel, but terrible traffic noise - Don’t stay during a weekend, especially if the Panthers are in town. Traffic noise is awful - you will not be able to sleep. I cannot believe Charlotte allows this level of inconsiderate behavior to run rampant around here. It’s sounds like a formula one race is going on. I love Charlotte, but will never stay here again despite the fact that the hotel itself is lovely with incredible service.
