Guest Reviews
- Malind (4/5): Difficult to communicate with the Owner - The apartment was good inside despite the very old look of the building from the outside and the stairway. First of all it is an Airbnb not a Hotel. Than the communication with the owner is terrible. I wrote to the owner a day before my stay to ask him about my arrival hour and instructions to get the key. No response from him. Than next day I try to call him many times by the phone number that is in Booking but the phone was off. I arrived at the facility and called him many times, wrote an email, Whatsapp but no answer. In this moment I thought I was scammed. At around 15:00 he answered my call and send me the instructions.
If you own an Airbnb you have to find your time to answer to the clients at least in Whatsapp or in Booking.
- Nile (1/5): Nightmare! Totally uninhabitable room with no water and no support from the host. - OMG! No! The stay was unusable because of critical issues. Manager did not care to even respond OMG!!! No running water at all during the stay, despite advance notice posted on the building that they clearly knew about. No Wi-Fi provided despite repeated requests. I tried to contact the property multiple times and received no help or response. Completely unacceptable experience.
- Olliver (4/5): Wien - Ni kan börja med att ta bort att man köper med frukost så har dom inte ens frukost på hotellet! Kommer verkligen inte rekommendera detta hotell vidare.
- Magdalena (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nicolaie (8/5): Easy access to tourist attractions and the city center; we really liked the National Library! - Hotel located close to the U-bahn, easy access to the city center by foot, or to other tourist attractions by public transport. The room in the hotel was spacious (actually it was a bedroom, and another room with a sofa and a work table); towels changed every day. We also took a walk on the Danube Canal, by boat (the boarding/disembarking station is close). Overall, a pleasant visit to Vienna. Breakfast was not included in the room price. Near the hotel, there was a small shop where you could buy a sandwich and/or a coffee! For the price paid for the room, everything was fine, I would say. There are no negative comments, or so negative as to be mentioned here!
- Marcela (10/5): Exceptional - We got an hour and a half earlier check-in, that we really appreciated. We payed a double bed room, we got an appartment. We had a fridge, a coffee machine, coffee and tea and sugar, cups and glasses, all neccessary we needed.
Beds were fine, everything was clean.
We got 10 minutes to metro and even less to the tram. Neighborhood was clean, quiet and well illuminated in the evening.
After check-out, we could left our luggage in one place we got a key for.
We are really grateful to our hosts because they were great.
We hope we'll come back once again and we will definitely recommend VOX Design Hotel to our friends.
Thanks! There's nothing we didn't like.
- Davide (6/5): - Wir hatten mit Frühstück gebucht..als ich Reception/Expedia kontaktierte hieß es nur es gibt kein Frühstück.Ausserdrm war eine Baustelle vor dem Hotel dass extrem la kautlsut
- Lisa (7/5): Good -
- Estela (6/5): Pleasant -
- Paul (5/5): Good location but Hotel needs TLC - Location great but hotel needs some TLC Dated hotel and poor cleanliness
- Olga (1/5): Hotel needs to be cleaned and renovated (see pictures) - The heating worked well. The rest was bad. - Dirty (e.g. a lot of dust, no hovering under the bed for months, probably, see pictures)
- Facilities need renovation (e.g. water was flowing outside of the shower because of poor maintenance, see picture)
- There is no reception and staff does not always answer to phone calls or SMS.
- We had to buy shampoo and toilet paper because there was not enough for our stay and we could not contact the staff.
- Giannis (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Selin (6/5): Pleasant - 10 minutes walk to city center, big room No reception, hotel door open 7/24
- Vladimir (8/5): Very good - Self check-in and self check-out, very convenient, especially when you're not very certain of your arrival times. The room was very spacious, with a safe and even a special corner to take care of your clothes, like hanging and ironint it. Nothing, everything was good
- Alexa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sheena (2/5): Don’t stay here. - Location wasn’t too bad. Large apartment. Where to begin!? First of all they didn’t even reply to messages before check in, then upon arrival (self checkin) I punch in the code for the locker to open and no key inside! I tried using the calling pad next to the locker which they advised me to do in the email with checkin instructions - no ring or answer most probably out of order so I try calling the number of the accommodation. I call 7 TIMES BEFORE SOMEONE PICKS UP! They didn’t even know why there was no key inside! They then realise they sent me the wrong code! There was no apology, or any means to make up for THEIR MISTAKE! It took me about 20 mins to actually check in - which should have taken AT MOST 5 mins. I make it up to the room to find a broken toilet seat, a broken couch, a fake leather bed frame that was flaking off onto the bed and a shower that was growing mould. Not to mention the coat hooks on the wall that just fell off after using them once and the towel holder that is barely hanging onto the wall as well as the smell of marijuana in the hallway. They came to ‘clean’ the room which was just give new towels. There was no indication that someone would come and honestly, I didn’t like the fact someone came when I wasn’t there because I wouldn’t trust the staff at such an establishment. I wish it would be stated some where upon check in that on the following day someone would come to ‘clean’ the room so I could have cancelled because fresh towels were unnecessary after 1 night.
They didn’t even leave checkout instructions! I literally just left the key on the table and walked out.
There still has been no apology from the hotel about the problem with my checkin.
Save yourself the trouble and find some where else to stay. Yes, the location is OK but everything else was just TERRIBLE. SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS AND FIND ANOTHER ACCOMMODATION!
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional - Reception was really nice and had us check in even before check in time. That made all the difference as we were coming from a very early flight and needed rest. Nothing
- Vasiliki (7/5): Good - Spacious room, with a sofa (wich was damaged but who cares),big bed and a good bathroom. Very heat, something really important if you visit Vienna when the weather is cold. Easy to find it and near the underground and bus stations. Unfortunately, 4 days there, the room didn't cleaned at all. The towels in the bathroom was dirty, the toilet has stamps on it and the hole apartment wasn't cleaned at all. You know, it's really important for your guests to provide them clean bedsheets, towels and space. Only the trash was cleaned from the litters everyday, nothing else.
If you change that policy, I believe that your hotel would be absolutely perfect. You have some great apartments, just change the cleaning policy please!
- Frances (8/5): Perfect for a mini break in Vienna - Good location about 10 minute walk from tram and underground stops. About 25 minute walk from Stephensplatz.
We were a family group of 3 adults and booked 2 double rooms. We actually had 2 mini apartments, each with a double room, sitting room with fridge and coffee machine and a bathroom.
The accommodation was warm and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Shower worked well and there was plenty of hot water.
The area was quiet. We were on the ground floor and heard no noise from outside or from other guests at all. There was some rumbling from trams but not loud enough to disturb us. I’ve read some reviews concerned the main doors aren’t locked at night. This really isn’t a problem because there was no sign at all of anyone coming in who shouldn’t be there. In fact, our impression of the whole inner city was one of law abiding people. We saw no one getting angry, no drunkenness. There is nothing to stop people skipping fares on public transport (I think they have ticket inspectors, but we didn’t see any). People are trusted to pay. We bought a ticket each on line.
The staff were friendly. I spoke with a gentleman on the phone and the lady in reception on our day of arrival and they were both very helpful. Otherwise, we didn’t see any staff, though I’m sure they’d have been available if needed. They very kindly checked us in much earlier than advertised and we were able to leave our cases. This was really helpful. There are 2 arched wooden doors to the property. The left hand one contains the reception, however there could do with being a sign on the door indicating this.
The accommodation looks quite basic, a bit tatty even, but don’t be fooled as it’s actually better than it looks.
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Georgia (10/5): - Very spaciousness. Easy walk from the train station with our bags. Easy checkin.
- Lucie (9/5): Cozy stay in a small hotel, super friendly staff - I originally booked 2 nights, but had to spontaneously extend my stay by a few days. My telephone consultation with the really friendly and courteous staff was great and uncomplicated.
The room was clean and comfortable, towels were changed daily and the trash can was emptied daily.
Late night check-in was possible without any problems via the key safe.
The location was nice and relatively close to the center, Schwedenplatz is just a 10-minute walk away. A supermarket and a drugstore are just a 1-minute walk away. For solo travelers (especially women), the location in the side street can seem a bit dodgy if you're unsure. Otherwise, it was a nice, quiet neighborhood.
All in all, a quiet, uncomplicated stay in a cozy small hotel. For solo travelers, the side street location can seem a little dodgy if you're unsure. The fact that the main entrance is always open and the stairs are accessible to anyone, even at times when reception isn't manned, seemed a little unsafe.
However, I didn't have any strange encounters or situations in the neighborhood, so this was not a big issue for me.
- Christina (9/5): Superb - The location is good. The room is spacious and there is a coffee machine. I would recommend it.
- Lukas (6/5): Pleasant - The mattresses were very worn and the bed linen was old.
Also the wifi was not nearly enough to work.
In addition, the joints in the bathroom were already slightly mouldy and the flat smelled quite damp.
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect
- Popovic (8/5): Very good -
- Ovidiu (9/5): Superb -
- Rioux (10/5): Exceptional - Really spacious, lots of windows. The location was perfect for us, not directly in the city center, but 5 minutes on the electrical scooter! Loved it.
- Harutyun (8/5): It was very nice of the staff letting us checking in earlier and left the luggage after checking out. The staff were ve - The location was very convenient. You can walk to the city centre in 15 minutes. There were issues with the sink.
The front door was left open, so anyone could enter the building.
- Momchil (9/5): Great vacation. - Great location, friendly staff, interesting interior. Lack of sockets. The pillows but this is common.
- Ned (5/5): Room needs to be modernised and the broken appliances replaced or at least mentioned by the owners. - The location was very convenient for us. I didn’t like the lack of aircon and fridge was broken. There was no coffee in the basket and only one espresso pod for the machine. The fan was also broken and barely worked.
- Alba (9/5): Superb - the room was very big ! The position was also quite nice and close to the city center. We didn’t meet anyone from the staff but they were very efficient with the call service Just a bit hard to find the entrance without the reception being open
- Tina (10/5): Big and clean - Large and clean apartment with a perfect location.
- Charmaine (7/5): Good -
- Jason (10/5): - Proche du métro et magasins. Confortable. Personnel au top!
- Michelle (4/5): Overpriced - Nice floors Fridge didnt work, blocked drain in basin,
- Ritchie (5/5): Average but heard other properties were similar. - Upon arrival I was given keys to an occupied room, and then the code(s) to other rooms key safe until correct alternative found. Room was average & not as nice as pristine website pictures, and was stuffy but served its purpose. Cleaners also arrived 20mins before checkout time on last day which I didn't like. - Ani (8/5): Very good -
- Patrycja (6/5): It was our second stay at Vox and the experience this time was bad. Number at the “reception” door is practically unreac -
- Zofia (9/5): Superb -
- Jana (9/5): Superb -
- Agustinita (9/5): Vienna 2024 - What I liked most about the accommodation was that our room was very large and spacious. The bathroom was comfortable and we had space to store our clothes. Our room included a bar to leave refreshments. What I didn't like was that the accommodation was far from the main city but we could walk and take the train to all parts of the city.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Georgios (5/5): I am surprised Booking.com recommended this property. Do they not regularly inspect the properties to ensure a standard - Theodora, staff member at reception was very helpful and tried to instantly remedy what she could when we advised her of any issue.
The location was good, so we could get to the city centre easily.
The room was clean. There is no automatic lighting at the entrance (when coming in at night) or to go up the narrow stairwell. When we asked about this the next day we were shown where the switch was! This should be advised in advance. The little fridge did not keep perishables cool or cold (fridge needs replacing), the Nespresso machine does not work properly (no milk supplied - thank you Theodora for giving us your milk!), the curtains fall off the rails when one draws them ( I had to climb up on a table to replace hooks on track that have no stopper! )The clothing drawers were stained inside and old, the bathroom sink blocked up as the stopper remained closed tight. It became unhygienic (next to the toilet bowl) to fill the kettle from there but there was nowhere else and the water filled the basin - cleaner unplugged stopper from underneath the next day). The street is quite noisy with a homeless shelter immediately opposite the accommodation, and service vehicles and people coming and going from early in the morning. The building generally very dated.
- Guven (8/5): Very good - Good location and easy to find. We stayed at room 5 which was very spacious and clean. Towels changed every day. Staff was helpful. The wifi had good reception. Shower cabin was a bit small compared to the size of the bathroom and the shower head was not stable. Also tv was not working.
- Merima (9/5): Superb -
- Suncica (8/5): spacious, charming, close to metro and walking distance to city center - Spacious room, good location, fridge, coffee and tea maker, enough towels, bathroom items, quite street, close to main street and metro the furniture is little bit old and reception works just on working days an for couple of hours
- Michael (8/5): Cool and very spacious apartment aparthotel. - Massive space and rooms, good bathroom, stylish Bauhaus type stairs. Kind of cool apartment hotel. Sofa was dusty/dirty, seen better days
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Christine (9/5): Superb - Lots of space
Very comfortable bed
Good location
Very helpful staff Would have liked more choice for breakfast
- Tom (7/5): Good location - Good location, big room No air conditioning, a lot of noise from outside
- Corneliu (9/5): vacation - location of the hotel near the central area and big room none
- Catherine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Arusyak (6/5): Pleasant -
- Younes (8/5): Very good - The body shampoo inside the shower was empty
- Evisa (10/5): Exceptional - 👍🏻👍🏻 Yes
- Mateja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ourania (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susanna (8/5): Spacious apartment - This was an apartment rather than a hotel (without kitchen). Some 20 mins from centre, but close to public transportation connections.
- Josip (10/5): Recommend - The hotel was clean, the owner answered all the questions that I had and recommended some good places. Hotel is close to the center.
- Carole (7/5): Good -
- Midgardsormur (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (7/5): Good value for money, close to the river was nice. - Very roomy & close to public transport. Very helpful when I asked for an extra night. The stairs need some sort of night lighting. Would be better if front door could be shut as there is a homeless shelter over the road, but had no problems with the people attending.
They need do not disturb signs as I was still in bed when the cleaner came in, who then proceeded to lock me in!!
- Petya (3/5): Ok - It is relatively close to the city centre. The furniture was not in great shape, there are places in which there are only cables without lamps. The cleaning staff walked into the room at 10 AM as the check-out was until 11AM. I tried to contact the staff to ask them if we can leave our luggage somewhere or to recommend us a place but they didn’t even respond to me. It’s okay if you want to spend 1-2 nights max.
- Taenzler (9/5): Superb -
- Andrea (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Márk (9/5): Superb - Very nice central location, in a quiet street.
- Marc (5/5): The room clean and spacious thats about it though - The room is very spaceous and the furniture is modern, the cleanliness is also ok 3 out of 4 blinds didnt work or were removed, the courtains didnt fit the size of the windows and because of the fact that there is a homeless shelter right across the street which is lit all night it made it hard to sleep because it was always bright in the room
The room was on the ground level and the entry door of my room right next to the street which didnt give me the best of feelings to sleep in
- Gabrielė (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ahsan (3/5): Poor -
- Mavrudieva (10/5): My choice for my annual work trip to Vienna! -

- Urmas (5/5): Passable -

- Irina (7/5): Good -
- Sepp (7/5): Good - location was good front door in a building was unlocked 24h (no reception 24h)
- Obioma (9/5): It’s worthy the payment - Ver spacious and clean
- Nena (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jyoti (9/5): Superb - Room prep, location was also nice, the property staff was really good.
- Carl (10/5): A great place to stay in a fantastic location in Vienna - We have stated here before - a great location and lovely hotel It was perfect
- Annick (7/5): Would stay again - Spacious and comfortable
We struggled to find the hotel put the receptionist was happy to help and stayed on the line as we found the keys etc more of an FYI all public transport is at least a good 5/10 mins walk
Slightly funny odor in the bathroom
- Yasmin (6/5): Pleasant - The property is spacious and they clean every day We’ve had an issue with the toilet sink that wasn’t fixed during our stay.
Additionally, it’s not as easy as we thought to get to the center. It’s about 10 minutes walking to the tram/metro station.
- Đorđe (8/5): Very good -
- Almas (7/5): Great location to explore Vienna city centre - Good location within easy reach of major attractions including Hofburg, Belvedere and museums. Easy checkin and check out. The apartment we stayed in had some mould in the shower, shower head was also leaking.
