On top of the high nightly rate, they also charge extra for parking which should really be included. The apartment clearly needs maintenance and unfortunately we also saw cockroaches during the stay. Overall it didn’t feel well looked after. There are much better places to stay in Newcastle for the money.

Supermarkets close by. 350 metres from Honeysuckle boardwalk. Great views of Port Hunter river and its fleet of tugs. Comfortable bed with hotel quality sheets and pillows. Well equipped kitchen Car parking extra. The apartment was clean but the sofas and dining chairs were soiled. Usable with a throw Surplus sofa in bedroom that took up any spare space and unusable outdoor furniture also blocking access to the balcony.

It’s next to the light rail that passes every 20 minutes. I stayed in 102 The Huxley. Parking was extra $20 per night. ( it should be included for this price) Air conditioned. The photos did not represent the room we stayed in. Can not see the mouth of the river from this apartment. There were cockroaches. We paid nearly $300 per night. Not good value . No bread knife and the only knife to cut bread was blunt as..and the frypan was crusty and old. No soap dish in shower. No oil or salt. Basic.

• Vincent (9/5): Very comfortable stay in a centrally located apartment. In Newcastle. - The property is in an apartment complex called the Huxley. It is right on the light rail lines which take you to Newcastle beach. It is walking distance to the MarketPlace - that has Supermarkets, cafes and specialty stores. Centrally located. Staff were amazing Parking is extremely tight as you can y - and sometimes people do not park their cars with others in mind. This makes it hard at times to get in / out of your vehicle - however having a double spot in length made it easier.

I am genuinely disgusted and very disappointed - The hygiene and cleanliness were appalling and I want my money back ! The fact that my child found a sex toy in the bedside table drawer, hair all on the ceiling in ensuite, shower mouldy, bed had hair in it, floors definitely not moped!!!!!

Two bathrooms was a definite plus.Great to have the washing machine and dryer facilities. Bed was reasonably comfortable. great coffee shops close by as well as shops restaurants etc. Building security with paid $20 each night secure carpark was very good. We would definitely recommend this place to stay. Confusion when booking in, two phone calls within 15mins of each other one asking for my credit card details for the parking & ETA then another abrupt call asking for ETA and to call him when 10min away. On arrival look for address on building as name of building is not Astra Apartments. General house keeping changes- cleaners need to be checked more as there was crumbs left under class cook top, top two dinner plates were not clean and obvious dust on table in office. Some furniture needs to be updated, table on verandah was old and bedside draw fell off when opened. For the price these are things that make a difference to us when reviewing.

I really thought it an insult, especially as I booked for the balcony, to expect us to sit on hard old benches on the balcony. The cushions were so worn, they nearly did not exist. There was nowhere to put a cup of tea. A chair and table arrangement would have been more favourable, in my opion.

• Jake (5/5): As above - Upon arriving at the property I was met by Robert. We stood at the front of the property for approx 10 minutes while I was quizzed by Robert and told that I was going into a smart apartment. I almost felt that Robert didn’t want to check me in. I was asked how many people were staying, I confirmed two as outlined in my booking. Robert responded with well you can only use one bathroom. I asked why and Robert responded with well there is only two people. I said yes that is right however, two single guests (employees of mine) and stated that was why I booked a two bedroom two bathroom apartment. Robert responded with “well I wasn’t to know that”, I was taken to the unit and showed around whilst still feel as though Robert didn’t want me to check in. I found Robert extremely rude and offensive. Upon entering the room, the walls were badly marked, floor dirty and the apartment smelt musky, stale cigarette. As a business owner in Newcastle that regularly organised accommodation for traveling staff, I’m afraid I wouldn’t ever book astra apartments again. Very disappointing.
• Dirk (7/5): Perfectly all right. Quite fine. - Place is very adequate, everything is there, nice and roomy, and everything was provided. Really not a bad place at all, but it lacks a bit of lustre, it is a bit dull. The pictures make it seem as if it is like right there by the walkways and the waterside, but there is a double tram-way with high fencing in-between.
• Sonny (10/5): Perfect weekend getaway - The view was stunning, the property was clean and very well decorated. Absolutely nothing
• Darren (9/5): Great Views... Easy Parking and Location - Location and size the room was perfect for our stay which we could invite guests over with plenty of room. Easy access and on site parking. Finding the actual reception to pick up the key was confusing, but once we managed to get the keys the host was great with taking us up to the apartment.

• Sandy (5/5): so so stay. - location Aircon was not working, Bathroom was not cleaned and left over of shampoo and dirty cleaning cloth in bathroom.

• Simone (9/5): Great location close to public transport and places to eat. - Location was good and the rooms were big. 2 bathrooms were amazing travelling with kids. Definitely would stay again. Beds and rooms were clean and comfortable. Max was friendly and helpful on arrival. Hardly any street parking recommend paying for parking. Had issue with power tripping in apartment and dryer not working at all. Needs a larger bin in apartment.
• Matthew (1/5): Bad - Location was nice, cleaners were polite and thorough Our bathroom continuously leaked and flooded and the team at astra were less than helpful. My partner being accused of basically lying and when sending videos to Robert we got zero response. We also found the lady in charge incredibly rude and we're even told how hard it was to run a business like it was our fault they had problems with the unit.

• Charles (8/5): Easy access to public transport, cafes and shops. Great views, secure parking and fully equipped. - I Liked the coffee machine. The view was great, security was good and location very close to public transport. Tram stop 100m away. Newcastle is fast becoming a go to place and these apartments suited my stay. Close to major shopping centre, cafes, pubs all a tram stop or walk away. Lack of ventilation. Windows opened to streets with alot of noise, Would have liked a ceiling fan in the Bedroom and lounge to make up for it. I dont like sleeping with air conditioning so was getting stuffy during the night. Not show stoppers, just small comforts I would have liked.
• Anthony (2/5): Awful don’t do it - Nothing It was an awful, pokey little place for the price! The bed was like sleeping on a board and affected my wife’s back terribly. The couch if you can call it that was very small and uncomfortable so during the day if in the apartment we had to really sit on the bed - which wasn’t much better but was bigger than the couch. Speaking more on the bed, we understood we were getting a queen bed but clearly we only got a double bed which was not good enough. Also, it was ridiculous we only got 2 towels and had to wait for a towel change about 6 nights in. I say towel change because they didn’t change the sheets just provided us with another two towels. In addition, it was very warm unless you kept the aircon on continuously but the aircon didn’t really make it into the bedroom so in the evenings it was like a suffocation camp. Finally, the place we thought we were going to get - via the pictures on booking.com - certainly was not the same apartment which was pretty disappointing, especially for the price!! Hands down the worst place we’ve stayed.

• Nathan (8/5): Enjoyable gateway. - Good size, good features with appropriate equipment for use, the open rooftop space The cost was extremely high for the location, accessibility and not have summer friendly facilities. Also the balcony was extremely dirty!

• Jarbi (8/5): Modern, clean apartment with harbour views - Modern, clean apartment with a nice view of the harbour. Very close to the train and tram station. Quiet location near to a good coffee shop and a couple of restaurants and bars. There was no aircon or fan in the bedroom so the room was hot and stuffy. The aircon unit for the lounge blows hot air onto the verandah if you do want to sit outside.
• Nicholas (4/5): Hot, bothered , - It's was one of the hottest weekends so far , we got away from our house because it was way to hot to stay at home with our kids over weekend . So looking forward to a aircon which we was not told didn't work. We was replaced with fans but didn't do justice.. but then once fans were on it was to hard to conversate with any if the family as it was to hard to talk over the loud fans
• Joyce (7/5): Stayed for a month while we look for temporary house to move in. 2 weeks first booking then extended for another 2 weeks - Close to nearby shops & light rail. The floor is so dirty even how many times you sweep the floor you can't walk bare feet. No caddy in the shower area. The main door lock isn't safe locking. Power was cut from 11pm to 3am not sure why. No aircondition in rooms only 1 in the living room/kitchen.
