Martin (1/5): Be aware of them canceling your reservation - We didn’t get to stay here since they canceled our reservation so we don’t like anything about it! My advice is do not book with this hotel. Three days before we were to arrive, the manager, Adam, called and told my husband that they were canceling our reservation. When he told why they were canceling our reservation he lied to us and told us that we were one of the last ones to reserve a hotel room, which was not true because we reserved in early October and then tried to tell us that there were graduations going on which is not the case in early April. What really happened is we got a good rate through booking.com and the hotel wanted to charge more because it was a very popular weekend during due to the Luke Combs concert in Ames, so instead of honoring the confirmed reservation we had, Adam made up an excuse to cancel our room so he could charge more for the same room. We had to scramble to find another room that was available, which was further away and cost more.

fig tree safaris (9/5): - Clean, nice beds, great location, staff personal. At times the children above us kept running up and down for hours. Next time need to be on the top floor!
Kstone15 (2/5): Avoid at all cost myplace Akeny/Des Moines Iowa - Booked for stay 1/30/26. Had to cancel, reached out to hotel who said contact booking company and gave name of company we did not use. Contacted the correct booking company who said we would get refund. Followed up 2/13 and was told hotel denied refund. Booking company said if we get name of person we spoke with and approval we can have refund. Called and talked to GM at hotel who claim he never got any phone calls from booking company. Then GM claims he can not authorize a refund as his agreement with booking company prohibits him from ever doing this!!! I reached back out to booking company who states they did contact him several times and he denied the refund request every time. Not a hotel I would recommend nor is it one I will ever book for future travel stays.

V7590GOmelissap (10/5): I could not ask for more! - This place was amazing! I felt totally safe and so comfortable like I was at home. The staff was amazing and the rooms are incredible. Everything was very clean and they had full kitchen, with a full size coffee maker so I had wonderful coffee in the morning that didn't tastes like cardboard. They also have an in room menu that you can get little items delivered to your room without leaving the hotel. 24-hour coffee is also available at the front desk. I highly recommend this hotel and this is coming from someone who normally stays at a La Quinta. They even have a pet area with bags available.

thomasmE4999CJ (10/5): Great Value - A wonderful value amongst many hotel and restaurant options, especially if you don't need a lot of frills (no pool, no gym, food for purchase only. The property was well kept, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and you could actually open the window to get fresh air. The wi-fi worked well. The single bed room was spacious (ample floor space for two+ yoga mats). The room included a kitchenette with full-size fridge, microwave, and counter-top range (no cooking or eating utensils). We would definitely make this a regular stop when traveling through Des Moines.
Efemia (10/5): Great Place - This was a great place to stay. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchenette and full fridge was the best. Side note there is no pots or pans or utensils to cook with.

The coffee in the lobby was the weakest I’ve ever had. But it was really great and we would definitely stay again.

It is very clean hotel and the staff was very friendly and nice. I would recommend this hotel if your traveling with your family or alone.

However, there are no pots, pans, dishes, drinkware, or eating utensils whatsoever. Apparently, you need to bring all of your own supplies. Really? Sure, I always travel with half my kitchen…not! Additionally, when I booked for the week I requested a fan for the room. When I never received a response from the hotel, I incorrectly assumed they were going to have it available. Wrong. I was told there’s a Walmart down the road if I need one. Ugh! I would have brought my own, if only they would have responded! Lastly, the hotel has a little marketplace where you can buy food to cook in your room. But again, no supplies to eat the food on or with. All of this information would be helpful if they stated this up front. It would have changed the way I packed for my trip or the hotel I would have booked.

Maureen (8/5): Decent place, awesome staff - Staff was beyond amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. I don't know if it was because it was summer, but not really hot, but the place felt humid. Not super damp, but just a little. The AC was set at 60 when I got to my room, which I figured they had done to try to dry the place out. It really was fine, but I imagine I'll like the place better in the winter. Honestly, the staff were so great, I will try this place again.

After returning to the front desk 3 times, the guy at the desk finally went with him only to find that someone else was already in that room. The problem DID ultimately get rectified.

wt900 (6/5): Overall ok, but they lost our request for adjoining rooms - Made the reservation 3 weeks before and asked for 2 rooms connected for 4 days. This was during the Iowa state fair, so the rooms were EXPENSIVE! When we showed up the front desk clerk said there was no request and the rooms were 204 & 211, not anywhere close!! She did move 204 to 212 which was across the hall, but not what we originally wanted. You would think for over $1800 (over $200/room/night) we would've been accommodated, but the room next to 211 was a hearing impaired room and she said the manager didn't approve. She couldn't move both rooms. The request for the ice makers to be turned on was ignored. NOTE: She did find the room request later, after asking the manager, but said someone had written it in the wrong place so it was missed! There was a 2 burner stove, but MyPlace doesn't supply any pots/utensils or even ones to rent. So we made a trip to the thrift store to find some. They also ran out of coffee packs for the rooms, but did have coffee in the lobby. The breakers in the room weren't reliable and so the full-sized frig (nice to have) shut off in the middle of the night. The rooms were clean and quiet but not any larger than other hotels, but they did give us an extra chair for the table when we asked. They also had a decent laundry room for the kid's clothes.

Christina (10/5): - We have never stayed in a My Place Hotel before and we were pleasantly surprised! LOVED this place. The front desk was amazingly friendly, beds were super comfortable, and we enjoyed it very much! No continental breakfast but everything else was terrific! Highly recommend.

Maria (10/5): - The room was exceptionally clean! The place itself looks great, quiet, and has plenty of parking. It is conveniently located near all major roads, with Walmart and IHOP a 2-minute drive away and plenty of good dining options around.
Joann (4/5): Not Happy - So much happed there. The front door was broken and made loud obnoxious noise. Our refrigerator smelled so bad did not use it and the freezer was worse. Never have I stayed at a motel that you had a kitchenette in the room, but didn’t have anything to go with it no kind of utensils or plates or anything like that but you could go downstairs and buy it. That’s insane. this place cost us just as much as some of the other motels we’ve been staying at and offered much much much less was not aware or I would’ve not stayed there for sure they didn’t even have a continental breakfast or anything nothing they offered absolutely nothing and like I said the cost was the same as everybody else so no, I’m not happy with it. The price is terrible.

B (5/5): Disappointed - Room and bedding smelled strongly like disinfectant, floors were sticky from humidity, the air conditioning cooled but didn't humidify, there was a, coffee maker but no coffee and the coffee pod that had been left in the coffee maker was covered in mold.
Elizabeth (8/5): Great hotel...juat dont stay next to stairs - Staff was friendly and checked us in an hour early which I really appreciated. The hotel is very outdated and there's no breakfast available, which i knew before. It was very clean and taken care of though. My only issue was staying in 201 in the very end of the hall next to the stairwell. People were in and out all night and everytime it shook my bed, startling me awake. That was my only issue.

Ryan (10/5): - We recently stayed for a week-long competition in Des Moines. The General Manager was extremely professional, accommodating, and most importantly, friendly. She spent time talking with us and even asked the students how their competition was going. Could not recommend a stay here enough.

Steven (10/5): Stayed here dozens of times due to the location, fair price, cleanliness and great staff! - Very clean, comfortable and quiet. Provided for a good nights rest feeling very refreshed! Hotel staff, especially the manager are outstanding! Nothing comes to mind!
Pom (8/5): - Service was decent overall. However, our experience was affected by two issues: the room keys didn’t initially work, and using the iron caused a short circuit in the room. I think the price is a little high as well.
John (6/5): - It's fine and affordable. We saw debris on the hallway carpet when we checked in at 3:00pm and it was still there the next morning. We had to wait a bit for someone to come to the front desk. I do find the concept of not including any kitchen utensils bizarre. Who, other than RVers, travels with kitchen items? They are all for sale in the lobby.
Thomas (10/5): - A wonderful value amongst many hotel and restaurant options, especially if you don't need a lot of frills (no pool, no gym, food for purchase only. The property was well kept, the room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and you could actually open the window to get fresh air. The wi-fi worked well. The single bed room was spacious (ample floor space for two+ yoga mats). The room included a kitchenette with full-size fridge, microwave, and counter-top range (no cooking or eating utensils). We would definitely make this a regular stop when traveling through Des Moines.

Zubin (6/5): - Overall, nice affordable hotel with very friendly people. The booking site needs clarification. We booked a room which "Sleeps 3" with a Queen bed. I assumed a pull-out of some sort. It actually was a recliner which really wasn't sleepable as it didn't lock in place and was small. It is really a room for 2 and caused us some issues.
