David (2/5): Hostel no longer operating - Don't book this place, it has gone. This website still takes bookings but then you get there and there are no signs of life. The company has gone bust, there is a sign in the window stating that all chattels must be removed from the property by July 3rd. Hotels.com will not help you if you contact them, they just tell you to book somewhere else at last minute prices.

Fariza Mastura (8/5): Best for backpackers and solo travelers. - For solo traveller like me, the facilities, mostly everything was good. I like the pantry the most and the shared toilets and bathrooms were clean at anytime. This place is quiet. The halal fast food shops, the Muslim friendly shop, even Tesco are just walking distance.

ANDREW (10/5): - Cheap and cheerful, make it yourself cereal and toast breakfast, if you want a cheap base in Sheffield this is fine. Nicecquiet location on the end of a small street in a nice neighbourhood
Verified traveler (2/5): - Checked in and out again within 30 minutes. Entrance was unwelcoming and untidy, “reception “ was a back office / junk tip. Room was small, dark and windows dirty, and insecure. Right next to smoking area. Someone was outside talking loudly on their phone - conversation not particularly savoury. Kitchen less than clean . No shower on ground floor, where room was, and ground floor toilet had a laundry / cleaning product pile in the area before the loo. Upstairs ( dirty stair carpet) loo was clean but toilet paper has to be put in the bin so even the plumbing was substandard. Didn’t feel safe so checked out. Have since repeatedly emailed to request refund ( have asked for one day , not both) but have had no response. Will phone and then Dispute the payment with my credit company. Staff member very pleasant but unable to explain where nearest tram stop was or how to call a taxi. Shocking. I’ve stayed in back pockets and hostels all over the world and this is absolutely the worst I’ve been to. Don’t waste your money
Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid - The whole place felt grimy, in with everything worn down and stains all.on the carpet. Not a tourist hostel, more of a half way house. Good.location near the tram stop and some free breakfast, but one of the worst.places I've ever stayed.

Victoria (6/5): - Had to be switched to another room due to loud heating pipe in room 1, but switch couldn't happen until the next day so I couldn't sleep the first night. Staff was prompt and helpful though. Be aware, this hostel is up a very steep hill which makes it tricky for those with lower mobility. The bed I was in was also quite firm so wasn't comfortable for me since I have joint issues. Bed was also right next to a radiator so it was very dehydrating for me. Otherwise it was a good spot, spent 4 nights

Charlotte (4/5): - For the price, i thought this was quite bad to be honest. The staff were excellent and helpful, the best thing about the place. I was in the girl's dorm... the bed itself was clean and had fresh bedding, which was good. But in general, the place was filthy...i lost my keys down the back of the bed, there was loads of stuff stored under it that looked like it had been there for ages, shoes etc.. this meant i couldn't reach underneath... when i managed to get my hand behind the bed, it was filled with dust, dirt and cobwebs and old socks and things. I went for breakfast, they had soya milk and lots of cereals ("goody" I thought)..i poured out some cereal and whilst eating, discovered many black hairs in the food. Honestly, disgusting... at that point i gave up and made an exit. This hair was probably just the result of another guest, but it's the first time in my life I've experienced anything like this in a hostel (and I've been to hundreds). I wouldn't mind paying a tenner for this kind of hostel, but certainly not almost 30 quid; it's just not worth it.

Daniel (8/5): Excellent wallet-friendly choice - It's a hostel so manage your expectations accordingly. That said the staff were very helpful and friendly. There is plenty of unrestricted parking in the area if you have a car. You're not far from the tram or bus stops, and it's only about 30 mins walk into town. There's washing machines, a decent kitchen/communal area. The shared toilet was clean (yay). The WiFi was good enough to get some work done. There was a bit of coming and going in the night but I had a decent sleep. Compared with something like a Travelodge this is superb value for money for folks on a budget.
Malcolm (6/5): - Staff pleasant and helpful. Doesn't have a car park, only residential street parking on a steep hill or around the corner. Choice of cereals for breakfast.

Verified traveler (6/5): Friendly and warm, but not quite up to scratch - Friendly staff. Flexible with check-ins which was helpful. The hostel and showers were was warm, despite weather outside being miserable and 2 degrees all weekend. Not a bad price, but not great considering the 25+ min walk from city centre, and quite low quality service. Cleanliness in room and showers wasn't great. Toilets not stocked with toilet paper, and kitchen quite limited on supplies and plates/cutlery. The "continental breakfast" is actually just stale cereals, and very limited amount of bread and milk. Quite noisy, even by hostel standards. The walk from the city centre to the hostel is fairly easy in about 30 mins, but goes through some parts of the city with limited street lights and no little passing traffic at night, so not sure I'd be comfortable doing it alone.

Stephen (8/5): Good - I have to say I stayed here for two nights whilst I was waiting for keys to my property and I had a single for the first night but had to move a dorm second. The single was lovely really comfortable and no complaints at all. The dorm was a bit more a mission all the people were lovely, but that’s what you get in a dorm, staff were amazing really helpful at all times.

The hostel has been running as a homeless/council hostel not a backpacker hostel and it was uncomfortable---but if this place was running like it was in the past I imagine it would be OK for a night or two. Good value but I would not recommend until the situation improves.

Staff member had very poor communication skills. Room was not ready when arrived at 4pm. Otherwise very clean, excellent kitchen, comfy beds.
