- Leslie (10/5): The Edge of Avalon - as charming as it's name - This is a very popular spot and for good reason. The restaurant is always busy because the food is so good. I had a fresh lobster. The room was very comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make our stay rewarding. Janet, our waitress, was very attentive and gave us directions to a great little site up ahead. At the back of the property there's a beautiful little garden in which you can sit and in the morning there's a delicious continental breakfast. I would have no hesitation in recommending this inn.

- Clarisse (1/5): Heureusement que booking.com a un très bon service client ! - ⚠️ ARNAQUE ORGANISÉE – HÔTEL FERMÉ MAIS QUI CONTINUE À VENDRE DES CHAMBRES ⚠️ Nous avions réservé plusieurs mois à l’avance une chambre king size via Booking. Réservation confirmée, mails reçus, tout semblait parfaitement en ordre. En arrivant devant l’hôtel hier soir : portes closes, aucun panneau, aucune information. J’appelle le numéro fourni : une personne, faussement aimable, m’annonce que l’hôtel est fermé pour la saison. Mais, « par chance », elle a une solution : un relogement dans une « annexe » située à 1 à 2 km. ➡️ L’endroit en question est un bâtiment délabré, isolé, sinistre, qui n’a rien à voir avec ce que nous avions réservé. ➡️ La chambre king n’est même pas disponible : elle était occupée. On nous propose donc une petite chambre queen sale, vétuste et malodorante. ➡️ Aucune offre de restauration à proximité. On nous dit qu’on peut utiliser une cuisine commune — mais évidemment sans rien à disposition. Nous avons refusé cette mascarade et demandé l’annulation immédiate des 132 € (215 $). Réponse : « Ce n’est pas possible, voyez avec Booking car moi j’ai accès à rien ! » Autrement dit, zéro responsabilité, alors que l’hôtel encaisse sciemment des réservations pour un établissement fermé. Heureusement, Booking a annulé sans frais, mais surprise 2 jours après mon compte bancaire est débité de la somme réponse de l’hôtel « Nous avons encaissé par erreur » . Comment un hôtel peut encaisser par erreur alors qu’il est fermé ? Finalité après plusieurs longues minutes au téléphone avec booking j’ai bien été remboursé, le seul point positif de cette réservation c’est le service client booking très efficace ! 🚫 En résumé : Hôtel fermé mais qui continue à encaisser les réservations Relogement dans un lieu douteux, sale et mensonger Aucune transparence, aucune responsabilité Une propriétaire malhonnête et méprisante face aux clients ❌ FUYEZ CET ENDROIT.

- RudySzymon (8/5): Good food and live music - We went from St. John all the way down to Trepassey. The day was kind of the foggy and overcast. We noticed a few cars in front of the Inn and stopped for a beer. Inside the Irish or Newfoundland music was performed so we stayed longer and also grabbed something to eat. The food and local beer were very good. The music perfect for the weather and location.

- amorys_gal (10/5): Great food! - Stopped here while driving the Irish Loop and we were so glad we did. A lovely and clean restaurant with delightful service. The cod and chicken were freshly and perfectly fried for our sandwiches. I wish other fried fish restaurant could replicate the light and crispy coating of the fish- that stayed on the filet until the very end! There was a lovely view of the water, but it was the people and the food that made it really special.

- kevinhX3982KA (4/5): Poor experience compared to others - Unfortunately, our experience on September 14, 2025 was not aligned to other reviews on here. Although the folks were friendly, the dinner we ate, which included the fried cod dinner and my spouse had the clubhouse, we both got sick, but mine was far worse, violent food poisoning actions from both ends about 1-2 hours after dinner. And to make matters worse, the bathroom door in room 9 would not close, which made a very uncomfortable and embarrassing situation. Lastly the bed was very hard and uncomfortable. I don't know why all the reviews are good, certainly wasn't our experience. And when I raised the food issue the next morning, it was quickly dismissed by the individual, stating that no one else had issues. Would not recommend, unfortunately there isn't much choice for accommodation on the south end of the Avalon

I don't think breakfast is a huge thing in Newfoundland anyway. The evening meal that we had at the restaurant was delicious (Cod and chips) and special regards to the waiting staff who were busy but accomplished everything with smiles and conversation. Couldn't fault this hotel

Our room was spacious quiet and comfortably furnished with all that we needed for a restful night . We enjoyed our dinner with beautiful views over the harbour again with friendly hospitality. The seafood chowder and seafood fettuccine as well as the salad were all delicious.

Helpful staff (especially kitchen/housekeeping staff and night manager…went above and beyond to help navigate laundry and special requests). Outside area was clean, natural and inviting for a relaxing evening outdoors. No AC which historically is not a problem in NL but it was quite hot during our stay and we had to sleep with the window open. We also kept the door open for a cross breeze while we were in the room and not sleeping.

- Janine (10/5): Much better that expected. Wonderful - This is such a welcoming and friendly hotel. The room was super comfortable and very clean. The bathroom had a fantastic soaker tub and a large separate shower. The staff are very friendly and you feel welcomed from the moment you step inside they made you feel like you were visiting family. The restaurant served very good food. Breakfast was great and plentiful. They also had a gluten fee area so they accommodate dietary needs. I would not hesitate to return if that is where my travels take me. There is nothing that I did not like. The only thing that I will say is that they do not have AC, but the windows open and you get a nice breeze coming through. AC was not important to us so it was not a negative.

No A/C in rooms no airflow thru the room. Would have to leaved the door to the hall open to get air to flow thru the open window into the room and the into the hallway.

We could take a few snacks to go. The room was too hot unfortunately. Even at night with open window and one fan. Recommend requesting an extra fan and asking for a room that’s not facing west.

- Explore06346996035 (10/5): Edge Of The Avalon Inn - We were on the highway in fog when all of a sudden it lifted as we approached Trepassey. This lovely hotel was waiting for us. It has a dining room with a view where you can have dinner. If you have a room, it comes with a basic continental breakfast. Staff was ultra friendly and helpful. Our room had a king bed and was clean and roomy. The window opened and the key was an actual key. There was a luggage rack in the room. It may not be evident when you arrive, but if staying in a room, you park on the side of the building that is not the kitchen side. There is sufficient parking and a garden right out back for guests to enjoy.

- frommontreal2012 (8/5): Only choice around this place…people are friendly but some needs to be fixed… - We had a reservation for tour of mistaken point so we decided to book this hotel. I’m not sure if they have AC…I don't feel air circulation and it was hot so we decided to open windows but only my room’s window has no net for mosquitoes. Water was brown. (It was not big deal…other places in NL were brown, too.) But since they recommended not to drink water, we would like to have 4 bottles. (We are 4 people but we just get 2 bottles). They provided towels for only 2 people, too. For restaurant, we waited quite long time. Most of food were fried stuffs and taste was ok…Restaurant was busy, so as soon as you arrive at hotel, make a reservation if you want to eat. Servers were very friendly. Breakfast was continental. It's very simple, but good. Restaurant has gluten free options.

- Christina (8/5): - The staff here are great. Room was spacious and the bed is huge and comfortable. Lovely waking up to birds. One negative was i could hear the snoring in the room next to me and people in the hallway sound like they're right in my room. Great Inn overall though.

- Richard (8/5): A comfortable stay with good food and friendly staff! - The room was very comfortable and clean; the included continental breakfast was good and the restaurant meal we purchased was excellent and reasonably priced. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Air conditioning or a room fan would have been nice.

- Miles (8/5): Great room a little disappointed with meals. - The room was great. Large size, nice bathroom, comfy beds. A couple of small problems with the meals. For the price the seafood fettuccine was very water. The continental breakfast was ok but for the price they should have a properly working toaster. Watching people struggle with two of the burners in a four slice toaster is a joke.

- Luisa (8/5): Lovely spot with very clean and comfortable rooms that is very convenient to Mistaken Point. - This is a lovely family-run inn and restaurant, and the staff could not be nicer. It is very convenient to Mistaken Point. The rooms are very well maintained and very clean, although not very large. We had booked two king rooms on booking.com, but were told upon arrival that only one king and one queen were available. The staff said this was a booking.com issue of incorrect description -- we had reserved the only two sea-view rooms, yet there is a king in only one of those. We found the restaurant service to be lovely, but the food was only fair. The chowder we had was thin and watery, and much of the food was under-seasoned. This is the only place in the area to eat dinner.

- dt400blows (2/5): 2016 excellent 2025 Flipping Horrible - This is about the restaurant only. 2016 Excellent 2025 Awful (to put it mildly) I ate here twice on '16 and it was excellent, great salads. Then yesterday $30 for pan fried cod with scrunchions and 2 sides. I got, cod most definitely not pan fried. No scrunchions unless I need a microscope to see them like the orange stain's alleged brain. Mashed taters not made with cream and butter. Not even milk and marg! Everything flipping cold! Had to ask for butter, got two pats of guess what..marg. Carrots uneatable, no surprise there. Two meals, two drinks, a way too generous tip, mostly a strength but...120+!!! The next day, I got takeout from the excellent gas station/take out north of St Mary's past the Celtic Knot Inn. Burger and onion rings, lots and hot for 10 dollars(Canadian) Thank the whoever I live in Newfoundland
