Guest Reviews
- Elma (8/5): Budget stay - Well when I heard the hotel was on the Nile I thought that was a dream. This hotel is for if you don’t want to spend a lot of money no WiFi in your room only in the lobby and it does not work when everyone is sitting in the lobby using WiFi and smoking it is a quaint little hotel sheets and towels needs to be whiter. Food can be included in your room not a variety but decent It was just not a luxurious hotel just somewhere to sleep and go. So if you looking for luxury this is not the place for you.
- Ahmed (8/5): Pleasing stay - It was pleasing, staff very helpful and they decorate the room for my wife birthday, veiw are relaxing and calm with river view room and it war very clean
- SH (4/5): - Horrible service not that good with customer service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - good
- Saib (4/5): try it only if you are on a tight budget. - the hotel seemed to be on an old boat, that really needs maintenance, rooms needs to be much cleaner, furniture needs to be updated since it looks old and worn out, bathrooms needs to be sanitized and cleaned.the staff are friendly but the hotel condition needs to be updated badly and I wouldn't stay there again. I will give it 2 stars
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I love love loved the show they provided after the buffet. This should not be missed. I also think the fact you are right on the Nile watching every day life is so fun. The families fishing right out your sliding glass doors a great photo opportunity. Breakfast is served in your room is ok for down time. The roof terrace restaurant is a nice place especially to smoke a hookah.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location and very nice facility. Will go there again.
- Shafiq ur (6/5): - The location is good but at night they started music which have very high volume. In weeked it goes till 12 and weekdays till around 11 am. You can't sleep before this time even you close all the windows or put some ear tight gloves. The internet extemely slow, so buy your own package.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beds were really comfy & friendly staff. Charging ports weren't very powerful though. Breakfast buffet was also very nice with freshly made falafels and omlettes.
- Shatha (2/5): Dont accept 4th floor rooms - The staff on the reseption was very bad he gave us a very noisey room on 4th floor under the restaurant he didnt care that we are 2 aldery women ,his college managed to change it , the reception staff was very bad and a complaine was forwarded to his superior.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I don’t like the roles and far areaaaaaaaaaaaaaa but it’s okay not bad
- Richard (8/5): It’s a ship docked on the Nile, not a hotel - It was probably my fault that I didn’t realize it’s a cruise ship docked at the Nile not a proper hotel so for me I was disappointed. The place was clean and service was fine but I did want a hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff were there for US,doing a trip onour own, planning as we went along - every little query we had - they helped us with and were always so friendly without being intrusive. It was comfortable and small enough not to get crowded whilst big enough to really provide the service
- Isabel (10/5): - Liked the security outside
Front desk very nice
Nice breakfast
View amazing
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent stay - Amazing place and service was great. The staff were excellent and very helpful. Area is close to everything. The place is like 4 star and definitely was the highlight of our stay
- Patricia (8/5): Central Cairo - Nile ruise boat now anchored and turned into a hotel. Consequently cabins (rooms) are on the small side but are quite adequate and contain fridge, TV chairs and a table. Only limitation seemed to be lack of electrical outlets. Breakfast is on the lower level and is a buffet with plenty of choice. The top deck has a swimming pool but has been turned into a restaurant so no sun deck. Food in restaurant is varied and quite reasonable. Staff are wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Only problem was on the last night when a very loud party on the top deck went on to midnight when we had a 5.15 alarm call to get to the airport. Noise traveled and little sleep was had. Location is good, near the Cairo Tower so pretty central, with taxis and the metro available for longer journeys. Overall, a good hotel in central Cairo for a reasonable price
- Pawel (10/5): - Very clean and food delicious...great location and professional services...
- Nitya (4/5): Disappointed with the hotel - We happened to stain a towel with strawberry fruit, and they charged us for 250 Egyptian pounds for it, and the house cleaner was very rude, we were quite disappointed with this! The towels were not even clean in the first place!
Cab driver called to find the route, and they didn’t pick up the phone multiple times.
The towels and bed linens were smelling of smoke and not very clean.
The music was very loud upstairs till late night and room is not sound proof, so hard to sleep especially with a child.
Room was very cold as the balcony door is loose, and the cold air comes in.
- Islam (6/5): Needs alot of work to be a 4 star hotel - I will be honest! I dont think this hotel deserves 4 star hotel at all , rooms are tiny and very old , certainly need renovation , staff were nice except a dude who works there and harrass anyone going up or down from or to the recieption to give him tip or something which make me so uncomfortable , overall my stay was OK but i will not consider staying there again
- MOHAMMED SOAEB (2/5): Only one Plug for 2 person ? what we do with one ? - Architect who have build this hotel its totally without brain...there is no plug-in inside room...only one Plug for 2 person ??????...what we do with one ? make hot water...? 2 person how charge they devise ? even they provide supplier its also unless connection....WiFi was very slow and twin bed also small
This hotels location good but rooms are minus 1 star.
- Shin (4/5): - Good location.
Noises
Poor English speaking at reception.
- Carol (8/5): - Stayed here for last 3 nights of our 2 weeks in Egypt
Wonderful location away from the crazy Cairo traffic, but easy and quick walk or taxi to the sites you will want to see
We had a Nile front room, great view especially in the evening with reflection of the city lights, and used the coffe maker in the room in the morning to watch the Nile with morning coffee or tea snuggled up in the terry cloth robes provided
The buffet breakfast was the best of all the places we stayed. A breakfast box was provided for the day we had a early start before normal breakfast hours
The restaurant on the top level has very reasonable prices and great Nile and city views and does serve alcohol
Cozy room,tv and wifi worked well
We really enjoyed our stay
- ash (4/5): - the hotel is in the center of the city and that good and i didn't got room nile view and the breakfast was not that great
- Abdulaziz (10/5): - Every thing was perfect, i love to stay at the roof and drink my beer over there. Food is great abd all the staff are friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean and excellent staff, hotel is older and kind of run down. Overall a good stay and good location.
- Imane (8/5): - House feeling outside of guest rest hours is highly recommended . otherwise all is perfect and friendly
- Leah (10/5): - wonderful view of the Nile (unless you get the harbor view rooms), very accommodating staff, and great free breakfast buffet.
- margaret (8/5): Good breakfast- bad neighborhood - The staff are super friendly but the name is the place isn’t known by anyone and it’s a shady neighborhood. Breakfast is delicious.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a unique experience staying on the water. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly. Loved it overall.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice room and location!
I was just a bit disappointed that the pool area was completely covered and felt more like a part of the restaurant than an actual pool. There was even a dj deck setup right next to it.
- Ahmed (10/5): Amazing experience - An amazing experience. Nice and kind staff, helpful in every aspect. The location is awesome with excellent accessibility to all center Cairo attractions. The food was really nice, well cooked and served. Special thanks to all the staff, especially Mr. Nabeel, the supervisor for their exceptional hospitality
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The music at the roof of the hotel is extremely loud after 8 pm. The same issue happens everyday and I could hear the noise at the room.
- TURKI (10/5): - تستحق التجربة
- Shelley (10/5): Lovely old Nile boat - Great week aboard Nile View, an old boat which used to cruise the Nile. Now moored at Zamalek an island in Cairo which is just 15 minutes walk from the Cairo Museum. Staff were brilliant and such nice people. Food in the restaurant on the open air deck at the top was absolutely fantastic and the views across the harbour unbelievable. Be prepared for a noisy week, music, horns and all the other sounds of Cairo. Great atmosphere though.
- Mark (6/5): Music blasting ...Great View - I write as the rooftop disco music is pounding and it's past midnight ... every night is an Arab music party night at the Nile View. Guests trot back to their rooms from 1-3 am. So if you want a quiet hotel, where you can sleep well, forget it. The wifi works but is very slow so expect to do a lot of waiting. Beds comfortable with fat pillows. Otherwise, the food is good, the view from the roof patio is fantastic as you can see the whole Nile and both sides of Cairo. The service is good and the staff very helpful and polite. The place is a bit run down and the photos of the colorful rooftop deck chairs are from long ago before their colors got bleached by the sun. The hotel is very conveniently located but again, the noise ... the noise. I'll take honking cars any day.
- badger7 (8/5): Goid location. Walking distance to museum. - Really feels like a ferry room. Nice to be on the water...the Nile!!.Not really a balcony but the door does open. Good location. Wifi is iffy. We tried to have a small bite in their restaurant one evening and were told it was a set price. .pricey. It could have been because of Ramadam and they had a singer. Giid spot.
- Suzi (10/5): - Nile room view was such a wonderful view. the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. the safe and the mini-bar worked, and the staff was very nice and easy to deal with. The internet was frustrating the first couple of days but they improved it alot. I am planning to stay there again next month and I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- A (6/5): Nice location, good staff. - I stayed at the Nile view for ten days, I haven't experienced any issue other than the Air conditioner was terrible and there is no gym at the hotel. I recommend this hotel for any tourists that looking for family and boutique hotel. Over all the stay was not bad.
- Kathy (10/5): - Everything was good about this hotel, staff, location and the ambiance! Just what we needed! They let us check in early and staff was super friendly with us. This is the location you want to be, it’s in the middle point of all tourists attraction. I’d definitely come back, and they also exchange money for us!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice choice - We loved staying right on the river.
The roof deck was great.
- Isela (10/5): - This is actually a boat sitting on top of the Nile river which is pretty amazing!!! Our stay was great and the food is great. They had a restaurant on the top deck that served amazing food. And breakfast was included for free. I would definitely stay here again
- Abdelrahman (8/5): Great two nights by the Nile - Stayed for two nights, hotel is close to everything and Cairo beautiful night life, and the breakfast was excellent
- Verified traveler (6/5): - They had no balcony as advertised, just patio doors. Wanted to leave as the room didn’t even look how it was on the picture, small to say I booked the upgrade. Just wish it was better advertised and more truthful. The staff however are great. Offered another room but wasn’t much point. The worst part? Hotels.com staff - try to log a complaint and never heard back at all
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It is great to stay on a boat on the river, its quite calming after a day of madness in Cairo!
The only issue as other people have said is the music form other boats in the area. I was prepared for this so and had ear plugs.
Also the fridge in the room didn't get very cold.
Overall it was a nice place to stay, that is a bit different to your average hotel
- Jean (10/5): Position good . View great as on the Nile looking - Previous Bule Cruiser bit docked . GreT breakfasts . Small pool on deck . Friendly staff . Great for the price
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fantastic hotel on the Nile - Our experience was amazing! From the start the staff were fantastic and attentive. Breakfast was delicious and the food on the menu was outstanding...my children loved it!
The location was perfect to where we wanted and was able to walk to Tahrir Square in less than 15 minutes. The room was directly below the upper deck performance stage so did get a little noisy in the evening. The room was basic but comfortable and the facilities in it was perfect.
As it has only one power point, I did have difficulty charging 3 phones, an i-pad and a DS!! I would definitely stay there again when i return to Cairo.
- Simon (8/5): Unique stay in chaotic city - It certainly is a unique experience to stay on a cruise ship on the Nile and the view from the bedroom was special. The receptions staff were great, the staff on the deck less so. Cairo is not a city for the fainthearted and I don't think I will return any time soon.
- chipmonkey (8/5): Location is great! - You go right through the Sofitel's entrance to get to this hotel (you can go from the other side as well). Is it fancy? No. But the views are amazing. The Nile is noisy so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper. The staff is pretty friendly. There is a pretty decent rooftop restaurant that is handy and not too expensive or busy.
- jenna (8/5): Great staff - We had a really nice time here. The restaurant staff upstairs is amazing. Ask for Muhammad’s juice :) it’s delicious- Mr Muhammad creates all sorts of fun, refreshing juices for his guests! Room was cozy, and the shower was hot and had great water pressure.
However we did have some issues with a staff member when we first arrived. The woman we spoke with at first was so rude. BUT LITERALLY every other person was amazing. Tip your bell guy!! (Because they are wonderful!)
I highly recommend this place.
- lu (6/5): Rooms are very small. - The room are very small. I don’t suggest it for a family.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. We chose it because great location and river view - is really near all the sites and they say location, location. Full length windows in the rooms opened to look at the Nile. I loved sitting by the window in my room watching the water world go by. It was so easy to walk to Museums and the main square and very easy to get Uber taxis which were less than half the price of normal taxis. We got a deal to stay at this hotel and thought it was good value for a supposedly 5* hotel. This hotel is not 5*! Yes there are dressing gowns, a kettle and daily bottles of water. When we checked in we couldnt have 2 rooms near each other and my friends room had not even been cleaned so not a good start. It looked like a lot of rooms werent in use? Certainly half the rooms on my floor were out of action. There was also a large inside lounge area that was out of action. The pool is not usable as half of it is covered with a stage, had electrical cables dangling in it! and the whole of the rooftop is laid out as a restaurant. There are no areas other than the rooftop restaurant to relax and then you felt you had to order drinks and food. Maybe we were just unlucky and they were doing renovations? Wi-fi was available but you had to persevere to get connected. We bought local Sims with data and that worked well. Drinks prices were dear same as Sofitel 3 mins down the road. For £20 more you could stay at Sofitel or Hilton. Not sure I would go again.
- Alan (10/5): Nice Hotel close to Tahrir SQ and Metro Station - Excellent service, Great hospitality, Deciduous breakfast
- Hilary (8/5): - Very nice hotel, used to be an old cruise ship now docked in the nile. Excellent location on a quiet street right near the hustle and bustle of the city. Very close to shops and restaurants. Staff here are very helpful and friendly, I felt so welcome. The breakfast is good too. The room was nice, the bathroom could’ve been updated a bit but I would definitely stay here again, no questions asked.
- Verified traveler (8/5): (Room with a) Nile View - Great location.
Good breakfast.
Friendly staff
- Aboubkar (10/5): Great view small rooms. - Small rooms, very clean, excellent service special thanks to my staff from the front desk.
- Cecilia (8/5): A Ship on the Nile! - The hotel is cool because it's an old cruise ship, docked on the Nile River! It is kind of old and the walls are thin. There is no heat in the rooms, so nights were chilly in January. But waking up to that view was magical. The staff was so friendly and the free breakfast was yummy. I enjoyed my stay.
- Olivia (8/5): Friendliest Hotel on the Nile - My friend and I booked this hotel last minute for a long weekend visit to Cairo. We thought it would be fun to stay directly on the Nile. Plus the location can not be beat. It is very close to the national museum.
The service at Nile View can not be beat! The staff went out of there way to make sure we had the most pleasant stay possible. The breakfast was very good and the staff very attentive.
One note, they have a party that happens every night on the upper deck from about 9-1am. You can hear the music from anywhere in the hotel. It surprised me but the one nite I wanted to go to sleep before the party was over I slept quite nicely.
- Mohamad (10/5): one of the best hotels in cairo - We had an excellent experience at Nile view.
The hotel’ s location and the fact that it s actually a ship makes it really special.
The staff at nile view are amazing, the nicest people I ve ever met.
The breakfast was perfect very tasty and different varities to satisfy the different tastes plus the breakfast is served in the basement with beautiful view over the nile.
The hotel itself needs a little bit of maintenance and maybe more plugs in the room and getting better internet to the hotel.
However this is minor compared to the many positive things at this hotel.
Nile view staff thank you for making our trip to cairo extra special
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quality hotel on the Nile - Location is south of the main Zamalek neighborhood, just close enough to be good, but not exactly walking distance. A solid bed, television, breakfast buffet, and service made the experience pretty good especially compared to other Egyptian hotel experiences. The room had only one power outlet and the shower design was puzzling without a curtain to prevent water from spilling out.
- rami (6/5): it was a bad experience and overpaid. will not sta - i will never stay there again.it is overpaid and should be rated maximum 3 starts
- Xxxx (6/5): Won't come back - Hotel stuff are friendly and nice, rooms are very small, bathroom is small and dirty ( Un removable stains). Bathroom ceiling so low I had to bend when taking a shower. Overall, not satisfied with this hotel.
- Nika (10/5): Nice hotel; great location - The customer service was exceptional! Everyone was nice and accommodating. The hotel receptionists assisted us with arranging a driver during our stay; which was extremely nice. The food was superb and room was much bigger than we anticipated. Although the hotel is a bit dated, it was very clean and well kept. It was a great experience!
- geoffrey (8/5): Great use of retired cruise ship, but unmaintained - Think management must decide to maintain it properly, or reduce price. Sat in bath with black mould 6 inches from face where sink panel fell off a long time earlier due to wood support rotting & never replaced. Unattached marble sink surround, fell on floor when touched. Turned on bathroom light & small herd of tiny insects stopped drinking at puddle, (that I hope was leaking water) & scuttled back home under the bath.
Not saying don't go, it's got a great view, but perhaps book for a night for the novelty, then stay if you like it.
Does needs a fair bit of walking (or taxi) to go anywhere except for restaurants, bars & cafe of the 5* next door.
Oh & 'harbour view' is not a view over some harbourage, but 'view' of dockside (with the generators), so 2nd night moved to a more worn-out Nile view cabin.
- Siti Durriah (10/5): Lovely boat hotel - Great stay.
- belal (6/5): Nice hotel nearly to the center - I think that hotel is nice on summer
Because I feel there is no heeting
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good central location. Nice view of the Nile. Great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room very small and beds but the location is excellent
- Brittany (10/5): Best view of the Nile & prime location!! - My Dad and I stayed at the Nile View for 2 nights during our first visit to Egypt. We were very happy with our choice to stay here. You literally do not get any closer to the Nile. Our balcony opened right up onto the Nile - you could literally jump in if you wanted to! The location is also amazing - quiet tip of Zamalek that is a 20 minute walk to the Egyptian Museum and Cairo Tower. The staff was amazing at the hotel - very friendly, not too pushy, accommodating, etc. The hotel itself is a little old so as long as you're not expecting a 5 star, this is the perfect place. I will definitely stay at the Nile View when I return and would recommend it to anyone visiting!
- Phillip (10/5): Great alternative to a standard hotel - This is a great, boutique alternative to the large, big brand hotels, but still more comfortable and clean than many of Cairo's small hotels. It's small enough to be personal and friendly, but large enough to be full service. Finally, since it is literally a transformed and docked river cruise small ship, you can't beat the location right on the Nile. We woke up to a stunning view each morning, and ended each evening on the deck looking out over the river and the city. Highly recommended !
- Sana (10/5): Amazing service - Front desk staff was very nice and accommodating. Their main priority was to make our stay comfortable and helped us in every way possible. So glad to have chosen Nile View Hotel
- francesca (6/5): Excellent service, but bathroom needs updating. - Location, service, food excellent. Bathroom needs updating right away. Overall very nice
- Dr. Francis (10/5): A very wonderful hotel - The staff is very friendly. I liked the location. It is such a wonderful location. I wish I could stay longer, but I am planning to go back.
- Bashar (10/5): Best Staff ever - Special thanks to Mostafa, Mayada, Mohammad, Eisha & Hind From reception, Sabah from Housekeeping , Ahmad & Refaat from Restaurant, definitely recommend this hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Manages to have all the amenities of a decent hotel while still feeling vaguely...nautical. Great rooftop to sit and watch the party boats float by.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was ok but they did not give us keys for the rooms
