Guest Reviews
- Bob (4/5): - My biggest concern at this motel was the terrible condition of door locks. The main exterior door handle appeared to be a passage set with key lock that was in I’ll fitting condition. No door chain or suitable alternative. An additional door led to an internal corridor and this was wide open when I first entered the room. There were no staff present in the office when I arrived, just a sign saying call this number. I ended upsetting a chair against the front door and a luggage rack against the corridor door in an attempt to feel safe for the night.
- bruno (8/5): otawa trip - very good for the price
- Scott (2/5): - The property is tucked only a short distance from the highway, so that was convenient. The key was left for us, so we could get into pur rooms easily, even without a staff person there. One of our rooms didnt lock from the inside. The rooms were both very dirty. There was ALOT of visible debris on the floor under the bed and around the edges of the room.like it hadnt been vacuumed for years under the bed. There were even crumbs on one of the bedsheet, under the covers. We would NOT recommend!! My parnets asked us to let them know about this place, for when they pass through. We told them don't stay there!
- Al (2/5): - Couldn't stay at all, to dirty
- Rosalie (6/5): - It could have been cleaner with just simple cleaning .All in all not bad for a cheep place to stay..
- Anita (2/5): - I was a little concerned after arriving but i couldnt get a refund. The place had no battery in one rooms fire detector. The other room the fire detector was missing. The lights werent working due to a breaker issue in one of the 2 rooms I rented. They managed to fix the lighting issues. The place had dirty towels hanging in the bathroom. Walls are very dirty and need a paint job. The floors werent vaccumed or kepted up under the beds or around the edge of the room. It was very unpleasant but we slept and left. Never to return to that location. The places in the area were very limited and this was the one place available for what we needed. I now know why. They could make it a very nice place.. they need to clean alot better and fix things up. There was also a weird yellow substance behind the one bathroom toilet. Food from previous people also left sauages and veggies in the fridge. It could have been alot better. I would never recommend this place to anyone. They should not be allowed to rent until it is up dated and add fire detectors to each room that actually works for saftey issues!!! I was not happy or impressed at all. Truly they shouldnt be able to rent until its fixed.
- Vibha (8/5): - Deep cleaning of the room as I could see the wrappers under the bed and it was dirty
- Evan (6/5): - Amazing price and not too far out of the way from Temiskaming Shores. The room felt damp when we arrived (we put the AC on right away) and there was no breakfast like was posted in the hotel room. We arrived late at night and we were still able to check in and get settled for a reasonable night of sleep we all well needed.
- Jason (8/5): - Clean and cheap, good for a nights sleep on the road
- Tara (4/5): - The staff was friendly. However, the beds were very old and hard, the entire motel was dated. The 2 doors to the room only locked with the door knob, NO deadbolt, which is not very secure, especially considering you are right off the highway. Upon arrival, you need to call a phone number, posted on the door and wait 15-20 mins outside for someone to come to check you in
- Konnor (2/5): - Dirty sheets on bed and pillow and smelled musty
- Timothy (10/5): - I liked being across the street from farm fields, with easy access to outdoor activities in the Clay Belt and Shield country. Good place to stay.
- Barbara (6/5): Not for Us - My daughter and I ended up not staying. We had to call to get registered and get our room key. When we went into the room we noticed a door on the other side of the room was closing. When the owner left the door opened as it hadn't latched shut. I fully shut it and noticed there was no way to lock the door from the inside. The doorknobs lock automatically but anyone with a key could get in no problem. There was no way to lock them out from either door. You could tell there used to be a latch of some kind on the inside of the main door to the room but it was removed and not replaced. Bathroom area almost looked like it was used for employees with how to wash your hand signs. The room looked clean enough on the surface, we just didnt' feel safe there so we left. The motel is in the middle of nowhere, felt very isolated.
- Katherine (6/5): - The staff were great…I felt comfortable right away. The room was plain but well organized. There was coffee in the room but no coffee maker. There was a hot plate in the room and a sign that said no hot plates allowed. The carpets were not vacuumed and the bathroom floor was disgusting. There were dirty towels hanging in the bathroom. There was splatter on the bathroom door ( coffee perhaps ) and the exhaust fan in the bathroom was so dirty that it could not work properly. The shower is designed for very small people. If you are 6 feet tall or overweight this is not the shower for you. The top sheet on the bed was yellow, the dingiest sheet I have ever seen in a motel room.
- Lisa (6/5): - Fairly quiet little motel, but some road noise No deadbolt or chain locks on doors. Screen door had only a rope for handle. Beds poorly made up so didn’t look confidently clean. Toilet can run on if not carefully flushed. Check out time is early 10am. Great price for the stay! Had two rooms for us & seniors.
- Grant (10/5): - Very good quality for the price. Rooms were clean and lots of parking was available! Friendly staff also.
- Elaine (8/5): - It was close to the highway
- Debbra (8/5): - Great cheap place for an overnight on the road. Needs major updating. Roku in room, fireplace, wifi. Beds were decent. Shower pressure was great. Clean rooms. Junky outside. Would not recommend to “Karen”.
- Forrest (4/5): - I like a seedy motel but this was a grimy sticky stained motel.
- Franceline (6/5): - I know it is a very old motel in a small village. We had to call the staff to come and greet us and let us in. One room had both doors opened from the outside. We got keys for one room and it smelt like disinfectant. We received a better room, fairly clean but screen on door was half broken, it did not close properly. The gentleman was very nice and courteous. There were no continental breakfast like in the past. We did sleep well.
- Gilles (6/5): Ok for price - Clean and not expensive. Weird part door was unlocked and open, room had empty containers lying around. Check in had to wait 10 minutes for someone to show up. Tv and satelitte box was unplugged had to figure out how to set it up. But room was quiet smoke free and good shower pressure. Ok for price
- Irfan Murtaza (10/5): - excellent
- Jaspreet (8/5): - It’s good
- Jenna (6/5): - It was strange that I had to go to the local convenience store about a km away from the motel location and I had to write my Visa card on a post-it note.
- Chiamaka (6/5): - The doors did not have a proper door lock for a property along the road. Clean and affordable.
- Lovepreet (2/5): - Someone should be there to welcome guest waited outside the reception at -15 for more than 5 minutes
- Connor (8/5): - Kind staff and clean rooms as well as easy parking.
- Fan (8/5): - match to what we need.
- Duc (2/5): - Il me pas donner la chambre réservé il me placer dans une chambre arrière de motel c'est tres proche la transcanadien et présentement y'a des travaux travaux.
- Candace (10/5): - Exactly what we need...somewhere to rest!
- Tammy (8/5): - Totally functional - in an area where hotels are few and far between, this one was cheap and cheerful. I was ok with the 'hands off' approach - our key was in a mailbox for checkin. Never saw an employee at all during our stay. Id stay again!
- Wendy (8/5): - Vechicle in front of door easy to unpack and pack back up!
Room very clean.
- Tess (2/5): - Pitch black hallway to "save money", bugs in sink, chemical smell, old Christmas decorations in September, broken down vehicle on property, no staff at hotel had to call and wait 20 minutes.
- parul (8/5): - Very responsive staff, we arrived late and they were present to welcome us with all the basic amenities. Room was clean and spacious.
- Carolyn (6/5): - Road side motel, basic and dated but reasonably priced, clean, everything works, pleasant manager.
- Lindsay (8/5): Great room but no service - Great room and overall great stay. There was very little service tho. Arrived for check in to the office being locked, had to call and wait for someone to arrive. Went for complimentary breakfast and office area was again locked, called the number again, it sounded like I woke the attendant up and was told to just lock the key in my room for check out.
- Max (6/5): Basic - Basic place, I had to wait for person to come from his house to check me in. Uncomfortable but clean bed. Over all, it's 2.5 star as expected. Not bad.
- James (8/5): - Reasonable rates. Basic northern motel is all that’s needed.
- Matt (6/5): - The person in the room next to ours was loud all night both nights.
- Caroline (6/5): - Easy off the highway. Lots of parking for pickup truck and trailer.(great) Very hard water. Linen was clean but stained and no top sheet on bed.(not great). Beds were comfortable and it was quiet. Late arrival so key was in drop box. (Good). Definitely a no-frill but great for a overnight stop. It served our needs.
- Joanne (8/5): - Essy to find! Convenient to the highway.
- Clarence (2/5): - My check in never happened
Arrived to find motel in total darkness not even the sign on. Called the number on the door and manager didn’t seem to know who i was. I could hear him typing then he said he would be there in 5 minutes. Came by let me in and said he didn’t have a room for me. Called a motel up the road who did have a room available but very low quality and much higher prices
- Suk Ling (4/5): Not recommended - Bedbugs is a problem. We, especially children got bites and itchy for the rest of trip. The tap water is in yellow colour and with metal smell, we cannot afford to drink. The smell of the room is not clean.
- In (2/5): - not flash smell and not good clean
- Cory (4/5): - This was definitely not a win. The room was not comfortable, you could hear the neighbour, and the beds were not comfortable. It’s not the worst place I have stayed but it’s for sure not a great stay.
- Steve (8/5): - Convenient location. Clean rooms and comfortable beds. Good price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Motel is close by Highway 11 but well outside the village.
Clean and safe.
Room has been recently updated.
Good value for money.
Unmanned check in , which is tricky until having done it once.
- Abhijai (2/5): - This place is terrible . Safety wise terrible as well, its shady and door can be opened from outside.
- VLADIMIR (4/5): - Do not recommend , bed sheets all dirty, no paper, room didn’t complete with minimum standard
Zero stars
- Carol (2/5): - Very dated and not very clean
There was bugs roaming
Only 1 outdoir chair per room
I believe there was only 6 rooms from what could see
Beds were old
Tv small
- Candice (2/5): Avoid if possible - Unless you are stuck for a place to stay while cruising through Northern Ontario like us, avoid. It says renovations but our room didn’t have anything new since the 70s. Towels were yellowed and stained. Requested and extra pillow, received a stained pillow with no pillowcase. Another guest was running an air conditioning unit with an extension room running from another room. Mattress was hard, didn’t feel clean or comfortable at all. It was a terrible nights sleep.
- PAT (10/5): - We were welcomed nicely. Room is simple but clean. Many renovations taking place.
- Denis (4/5): - Jamais personne pour répondre au téléphone, pas de tv,
Wifi qui lâche et reprends. J'ai éte oubligé d'aller chercher la clé de la chambre à leur dépanneur
- Matthew (2/5): - We knew it would be a modest room for one night but the property was absolutely filthy and unsafe. The Window AC Unit was unplugged and the closest AC wall outlets were literally taped over. We inquired and motel staff came into the room, PEELED THE TAPE OFF and turned on the Window AC Unit. They were VERY evasive when asked why the AC outlets had been taped over in the first place.
A marginal motel in a marginal little town with marginal services. Stay elsewhere!
- Edwin (4/5): - Room was not the cleanest, blood on the wall and door, cigarette butts all over sidewalk in front of door. l had put plug in tv and connect satellite cables to watch tv. The highway is very, very close so it's pretty noisy. There were also no lights in the hallway to get to the office.
- Douglas (10/5): - Clean, convenient to snowmobile trails, easy quick check in
- Me mengwaa Kwe (10/5): - Quick check in. Cosy rooms. Will recommend
- James (8/5): - Convenient and economical
- Darryl (10/5): Nice - Quick stay at a no frills motel.
- Garth (8/5): - Very good value for money.
Good parking with cold weather plug in.
No on-site desk clerk, had to phone for check in.
Very firm mattress.
- Michael (10/5): - Clean and quiet
- ARTHUR (8/5): - Located in agricultural area and small town atmosphere. Excellent value amd perfect for overnight stay. Local resturant good food for good price with limited choice. Easy checkin and checkout.
- Alvin (8/5): - Friendly
- Sheila (10/5): - Though it was close to the highway it was remarkably quiet. The hosts apparently run two businesses so had to be called when we got there, but they came quickly and were friendly and helpful.
We were thankful to find an affordable place so close to our route home.
- CINDY (10/5): - Motel is older. Room was clean. Staff friendly. Room was quiet. Great place to stay.
- Tammy (2/5): - Way outdated and uncomfortable beds. The bath tub is super slippery and both of us slipped while getting in
- Manpreet (10/5): - Front desk guy was very helpful
- Virginia (10/5): I love it - I love it
- Shannon (8/5): Clean - This motel isnt fancy, but it is clean and comfortable. Tip: pillows in our room were very flat so maybe bring your own or ask for extras. The hostess was very attentive during our stay. Would definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good property and very clean place. Loved my stay here.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner/ employee was very nice and considerate. Was always available when needed. The bedding was clean and even though the beds were old they were comfortable. I appreciated that I didn’t need a step stool to get on the bed like most newer motels. The motel is dated but we were only looking for a place to sleep.
- Lawrence (6/5): You get what you pay for - Mattresses are about 40 yrs old..you can feel every spring wire frame support ..no foundation under the mattress..you could have been in college again sleeping on the floor
