Guest Reviews
- dirk (8/5): - Nice outdoor bar area and good water pressure in the shower. Directions in are tough as they have some road work near the entrance. Staff is pleasant and breakfast is simple but fresh. Ndola is a place I regularly travel and I would suggest anyone stay here, you won't be disappointed.
- Riaan (5/5): -
- Liddle (4/5): Bit disappointed - The bathroom shower was filthy, shower door falling off.
Lots of noise, especially from the kitchen
- Nimish (8/5): -
- Rwicha (8/5): Peaceful - The property is clean, good space and friendly people. The order of food took everyday too long.
- Guest (8/5): -
- Richard (9/5): Relaxing stay and welcoming staff - Early check-in, welcoming staff, nice relaxing area around the pool accessible from the rooms, breakfast. Free airport shuttle turned out to be 500 Kwacha / person - their information here is outdated.
- Sililo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allen (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff
- Cecilia (4/5): Disappointing - Great food, great location. The bathroom was disappointing. Everything looks old. The toilet bin was rusted. The shower wasn't clean. The furniture generally needs an upgrade.
- Steyn (7/5): Good -
- Gregory (9/5): Superb -
- Raj (9/5): Superb -
- Aron (8/5): Fine clean place to spend the night or a couple of days - Good value for money. Not the best but certainly not the worst place. Pretty clean and decent restaurant. Internet was not the quickest. Closed for a drink not very late
- Joshua (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Benjamin (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Moira (3/5): Looks good, but not great - Rooms are tatty, specially the bathroom, needs a paint, make over and refresher. Staff are great and helpful with exception of one waiter, argumentative. The location directions of link provided took me on a detour which took almost two hours through the suburbs where the roads are extremely bad. The aircon was not working so I didn't stay the next visit and went to another hotel at 8pm!
- Siyabonga (7/5): Good -
- Ruth (8/5): Friendly home from home clean and efficient ☺️ - It was perfect for meeting friends and family a home from home
The food was lovely and we had no problem s adjusting to it We missed being able to organize our clothing in a closet as we traveled for different occasions and arrangements
There was little space for our big suitcases and our clothes had to remain in the cases it would have been nice to store the suitcases away and have the clothes foldet away and hanged nicely
- Kiango (5/5): Good -
- Thomas (7/5): Good -
- Brett (7/5): Good - We stayed over on Thursday night 1 May. There was loud music playing until quite late with was disruptive to guest who were there to sleep and not to party.
- Reizell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Royd (7/5): Good - Good location and the bar services were excellent. The swimming pool is small and not in a very good location. Too close to the restaurant and bar.
- Andrew (8/5): Enjoyed our stay. Restaurant food also great. Friendly staff and nice decor - Quiet, very central, nice restaurant
- John (10/5): - This was my second 2-week stay at The Urban Hotel. I can tell you that, as someone who grew up in the UK and now lives in the US, this hotel makes the best chips I have ever had! The tea is decent. Breakfasts are great. And, even though the dinner menu is somewhat limited, it is all very, very good. A typical dinner costs less than $10 and will fill you up for sure.
The room was good enough. The housekeeping staff, like all the hotel staff, were kind and friendly.
The WiFi worked well, considering the challenges in Zambia with electricity. The hotel has backup power, too.
An early morning stroll around the surrounding golf course is a great start to the day.
Definitely stay again.
- Christine (5/5): Overall stay was good - The location is good and breakfast was great The shower space is too small. One is almost touch the wall when showering.
- Bradley (1/5): Not great. Needs maintenance and cleaning. - The bolognaise was good, the patio area is lovely but no protection from mosquitos as they dont put the fans on so best to stay in your room. Good bed and good quality liinen and the aircon works very well. The small room and ensuite bathroom is grubby and needs maintenance, the bathroom extractor is too small and requires cleaning. The bathroom needs a thorough domestos scrubbing and the black mould on the shower floor and shower screen needs to be removed. The apps directions sent me on a diversion on very poor roads and resulted in me arriving quite late.
- Stephane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (8/5): Would stay again - Breakfast was varied which is good. Staff at breakfast and dinner attentive.
Shower head pressure excellent!! Arrived and left while it was raining. Would be helpful if staff had some umbrellas on hand to assist or for customers to use. Instead they see you running with cases and just stand there.
Also noisy around 5am
- Sundran (6/5): acceptable! - The breakfast and coffee was good. The facility was generally acceptable, but the shower flooded, the TV did not work properly and the noise levels at night were very high. The food could have been better.
- Paulus (4/5): Disappointing -
- Sandeep (3/5): Poor -
- Dominic (5/5): Horrible - Nothing There was construction and dirty all over
- Douglas (7/5): Good -
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- Matthew (9/5): Has to be the best in Ndola - All great with restaurant and bar and pool. Near everything.... Liked it all.
- Jeremiah (4/5): The stay could have been better if the environment is made more entertaining and gud house keeping. - The is need to improve on the entertainment ie Tv, guests hospitality such as conference facility, more comfortable rooms, house keeping such as towels, mirror, hair drier. The floor is not captered, not communication from the rooms to the reception or lundary room.
The entertainment on the TV is restricted to only 4 channels and the TV are old. The staff needs more trainning in terms of hospitality.
- Marc (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (10/5): Very Happy Customer! - Very nice Ndola Hotel! A/C was marvelous! The people were 100% cooperative and available. Morning breakfast is the best I have ever seen!!! It is now the ONLY hotel I would ever stay in Ndola! :)
- Chama (9/5): Superb -
- Nampito (10/5): - Great stay
- Cynthia (4/5): We looked forward to staying at the hotel, as we previously had enjoyed it. This trip was poor. - Location No one could find our booking. Room was noisy & the room we requested / booked was not available due to renovation !
- Stephane (9/5): Superb -
- Sam (7/5): Good -
- Jeremiah (5/5): Passable - The scenery and gardens were good they just need a lot of maintenance ie watering the plants and some night lights to give it a wonderful look. The swimming pool is well maintained and clean The young staff employed were short of customer service especially the breakfast staff the front desk receptionist was on point and knows how to handle customers
- Dominic (8/5): Very good -
- Litana (8/5): Was ok I suppose. But for the hype the urban is given, much improvement is needed - The location and intimacy of the premises The sink did not drain very well.
- Raphaelle (7/5): Good -
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Angel (9/5): Superb -
- Boris (8/5): - Decent breakfast included. Good safe location.
- Namakobo (7/5): Good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): No desk light - With a cool design and urban-like service, I am fully satisfied and stay comfortable, except for the following: No light is above the desk, which is essential for a business tourer, and I don't feel like turning on a cold-coloured ceiling light.
- Nefa (8/5): Very good -
- Emily (5/5): Passable -
- Adil (5/5): Passable -
- Mr (7/5): Good - The breakfast The bathroom
- Blake (7/5): Good -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Mulenga (7/5): Good -
- Bakhtiyor (7/5): I like the place. - The rooms are consistently clean, and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is excellent as well. We always choose to stay here when we visit Ndola because it feels so homely. The shower doors were missing a couple of bottom wheels, which prevented them from closing tightly and may have caused some flooding in the bathroom but it didn't spoil our stay.
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing -
- Kyansenga (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (4/5): Unprofessional booking and reception - I had prepaid 4 rooms, but only 3 were available. The personnel were about to send one of us to a different hotel, but we insisted to stay as one group. After 75 minutes, they "found" a fourth room that was dirty, full of mosquitos and the room lock did not work. No apologies or compensation. Otherwise, the hotel was ok, although food was pretty average.
- Jean-Claude (10/5): - It is a nice place for vacation
- Mohammed (7/5): Comfortable & convenient - It’s a convenient location & clean surroundings Non availability of halal food
- Stephen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (10/5): Welcoming, helpful, excellent location, excellent decor. Good transport arrangements to the airport. A really fantastic - Clean, modern, comfortable room and bed, nicely laid out, really good, helpful and friendly staff and excellent food. Nothing
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional -
- K (6/5): Pleasant -
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - The food, the staff and the cleanliness was to a very high standard
- Salomon (10/5): - All is well
- Carrissa (7/5): Good -
- Pranav (5/5): Passable -
- John (10/5): - I was greeted each morning with a spectacular sunrise from my window. The buffet breakfast was great. As a Brit living in the US, I miss proper bacon and decent tea. This hotel provided both. Basically, breakfast was everything you need to have a full English breakfast plus continental options including fruit and salad.
Zambia is currently struggling with rolling blackouts (in excess of 18 hours a day) but the hotel has backup power and so power was always available. The wifi was generally good except during parts of the power outage periods.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The dinner menu was good and affordable (about $15 to $20).
At $71 per night including breakfast and wifi, there's nothing to complain about.
- Sonja (8/5): I may stay again but I wouldn’t trust the front desk staff to follow through on requests. - Nice restaurant with good food and drink selection. Bar outside was nice. Good service from waitstaff. I arranged for a taxi from the airport to the hotel through the front desk and confirmed they accepted credit card.
I didn’t have any kwatcha and had been traveling two days so very tired. The taxi never showed up.
It created a stressful situation that I wanted to avoid, which is why I booked ahead of time. That was a poor first impression.
- Tony (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sylvia (5/5): Passable -
- Maher (3/5): Poor -
- Susan (8/5): Very good - The staff
- Susuana (10/5): - Nice place
- Kachizya (9/5): Superb -
- Mpande (4/5): - No elevator. No in room phone. Small shower. Water floods in sink and in shower
- Caroline (8/5): Very friendly and helpful staff but I wasn’t happy that they had no hand over record of my room payment and tried to cha - Good size No floor mats in the rooms
Bathroom had a musky smell
- Carole (8/5): Good - We were told breakfast would be available from 6:30 but it was late. Also the water in the urn was not hot. The sausages were tasteless Breakfast
- Jean-Claude (10/5): - The hotel needs to improve on the safety of residents, the emergency door was always opened , and anyone even non-resident can have access the corridor leading to the rooms.
- Tyser (4/5): Over rated, 4 star in name only. - The showers are hot and powerful. Chaotic breakfast, good luck getting your egg before the rest of your meal has suffered rigor mortis. Took 30 minutes to get an ice cream which, even for zambia, must be a record. Completely unprepared for load shedding in a region where this is the norm.
- Coetzer (4/5): Good.Satisfying - Both good. All was good.
- Wendy (9/5): Superb - Location was very good and quiet. Food was excellent. Staff were very helpful all the time.
- Caitlin (8/5): - Nice stay
- Jeremy (8/5): Very good - Love the Urban, great staff and food, always welcoming The shower is dated and the bed a little small.
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Tony (6/5): Pleasant -
- Shirwa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Benson (4/5): Since I had already booked - Breakfast was very good The price was too high for the quality of the room.
- Kachizya (8/5): Very good -
