Guest Reviews
- May (9/5): -
- Rai (6/5): Pleasant -
- Teckseng (4/5): Disappointing -
- Adenuga (5/5): Passable - The staff was very helpful The distance is not as accurate as advertised, The distance was supposed to be within 5 miles of the airport, but was farther than 25 miles
- Verified traveler (10/5): 霧鎖昂坪 - 三日兩夜的旅程,

- Kevin (2/5): Very poor -
- Alecia (6/5): Good location if you’re keen for hiking - I like that it was cheap and view was great. But the facilities not well maintained and location quite deserted . Road is narrow.
- Sp (7/5): Good place to stay if you’re at Lantau mainly to hike. - Very nice bus terminal and hiking trail to Peak. Easy to hop onto a bus to go other trails and places. Really peaceful surroundings in the morning. Very dark once sun sets. Last bus back to terminal is quite early (esp from HK main island). If you miss the bus, very troublesome to get to the hostel. Nearby F&B places close around 5:30pm so bring or prepare your own food.
- Viviane (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jari (7/5): DIY-spirit for budget trips :) - DIY-spirit is strong here, if you are picky or used to only high class hotels, this might not be the place for you.. But for us it worked well and the location is beautiful, no doubt and stuff was very kind and polite, even when we were a little lost about everything. Maybe assemble few lights outside so it's nicer to enjoy evening there? Shared kitchen was a little dirty..
- Leong (7/5): Very nice host that waited up late for me. - Toilet and Kitchen facilities expected of a youth hostel Double Bed is too large, against the wall so its difficult to fit the sheet on
- Didi (5/5): Passable - good location The dining area is used as a storage room and very messy. Overall unpleasant looking building and garden. The 4-person tent costs as much as a hotel room in central hk, but is very basic with floor mattresses. Place has great potential, but hardly utilized.
- Kar (7/5): An enjoyable stay despite the poor weather. Facilities as expected for a YHA. Poor wifi. - Friendly staff. Thank you Mark! Poor wifi which was an issue, since there was no cellular signal at all (for my network) due to the remote location.
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peiling (8/5): Very good -
- Cheuk Nam (10/5): - 環境乾淨企理,洗手間乾淨冇異味,員工親切有禮,盡量滿足客人要求,使整個住宿體驗更加難忘
- Henry (9/5): Superb -
- James (3/5): hugely overpriced, family room is quite nice but otherwise avoid. - the photos should be reviewed by booking.com against the visit the hostel and see for yourself. Its awful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the hotel cancel my reservation because they said they didn’t have the personnel to open the hotel.
- Priscilla (2/5): - I been there but no body was there. So I had to book other place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Glamping - luxury camping - was very fun and unique experience.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I booked a bit late in the evening so when I arrived, I have to wait outside the locked gate for more than an hour, in the dark and rainy evening, but was glad that the personnel there heard me or else I might've slept outside. The personnel was good, the facilities were a bit good too, but the area was wow. It's a good place to be close to nature.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bad experience - We reached the property late due to visa formalities but they don’t allow check in although we spent taxi charges more than the hotel charge , moreover it was showing that it is only 7 km from airport but in fact it was 30 km away. Very inconvenient
- Cameron (8/5): Happy stay - We had 3 days to spend in HK - this was the perfect place to stay to see Tai O village and Big Buddha without too much travel time.
We stayed in a double room which was comfortable enough, the bathroom was not exactly clean but that isn't really why you'd stay here, and we made do for 1 night.
The location is fantastic and the staff are very friendly, bare in mind that there are no shops nearby after 6pm so only basic provisions are available from the reception (instant noodles, soft drinks).
- C (6/5): - The hostel is about a 10 minute walk from any other buildings, which means it’s in a quiet location but a bit inconvenient if you want to grab something quick to eat, and maybe not the best place for women to be walking to and from after dark if alone. The rooms were clean enough but there were a few bugs, but that’s to be expected as it’s in a sub tropical environment. The toilets and showers were fairly disgusting, the toilet paper was always wet and guests couldn’t seem to not foul the seats. It’s fine for a quick overnight stay but I wouldn’t stay for more than one night.
- Karen (8/5): In the midst of nature - We kept in mind that this was a hostel so we didn't have very high expectations. That being said, though, we wish the rooms and facilities are cleaner, given the high price of our room (it cost as much as our room in a 4-star hotel in HK). The shared toilets and showers are in dire need of a good scrubbing, and our room was not even swept - there were trash lying all around the floor when we arrived.
We tried to ignore these, however, because we love the location. It is located high up in the mountains, in the shadow of Lantau Peak. The weather was nice and cold, there are several hiking trails nearby, and Lantau Peak is just 1.5 kms from the starting point of the trail beside the hostel. The hostel also has a big dining area and a well-equipped kitchen, plus several barbecue pits.
- Molly (8/5): Each room has clean beddding with simple facilitie - Basically simple
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice quiet location - Campground -like facilities so good for big groups (group of 20 primary school children there whilst I was). Quiet location-based shops etc shut overnight. Great for seeing Buddha and monastery before the crowds, or for pre /post lantau peak hike. Sunset from about 1km up lantau peak hike is beautiful.
(as a moderately fit person, I did sunset peak and then lantau peak which took me approx 3 hrs and 2.5hrs respectively)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location, but junky and dirty. - The best thing about this Hostel is its location!!! You can walk to the Gran Buda, the hiking trails and the restaurants and shops! No other hotel is as close. The challenge is that the Hotels.com description did not clarify that you need to bring your own towels. They have towels for sale. The bed linens were minimal. We stayed in a private queen bed room and they gave us a fitted queen sheet and a single (individual) top sheet! The AC worked OK. The website stated that housekeeping was minimal. We stayed two nights and did not expect our room cleaned. However, we did expect the trash cans in the common kitchen and bathrooms were emptied. By the end of the first day, trash was spilling out of all trash cans. We reported it to the office, BUT when we left, trash had not cleaned for two days! The tables in the dinning room are not cleaned daily so if you want to use a table, you need to clean it first.
This Hostel has the potential to be a great place because of its location and facilities.
It just needs some good regular cleanning and hauling off all the old junk spread everywhere: indoors and outdoors!
- Emily (10/5): Fabulous base for walking in Lantau. - Great location and very comfortable for quite an old, run down building. We walked from here for three days - excellent! Used the public buses easily.
- Mark (8/5): Nice youth hostel, quiet and secluded. - I arrived at Hong Kong Airport in the evening. Typical noise and crowded with people. I hired a blue taxi and rode up the mountain to the youth hostel. It was quiet and peaceful. The area is wooded and well marked. I checked in and applied for my youth hostel association card. I was given a quick tour of the facility and shown to my room. I use the kitchen and dining room and walked around the grounds and spoke with several of the other guests. Very nice and I felt comfortable with the surroundings.
- lian (2/5): not satisfied - i stay there one night only... they dont like to refund... very dirty....ohhh especially the kitchen....then the blancket bad smell...they gave me wrong direction going to korean embassy.....he said the korean embassy located on south------- i for got the last word....then when im there in south----- one filipina told me that the korean embassy located infront of admirality....so i need to go back then when im in admirality when i exit to MTR i just cross the korean embassy is there in the 5th floor.
pls. if you dont know the place pls. tell directly to the person who ask the direct... its ok.
- Paul (10/5): Great hostel, great staff, great value - I love the remoteness of this hostel. Perfectly placed to visit the Big Buddha, the wisdom path or to hike to Lantau peak. Staff are first class, super friendly and helpful. Facilities are basic and it can get cold if the sun disappears (which it did for a few days while I was there). Highly recommend.
- Paul (10/5): Highly recommended for location and staff - Exactly what you expect from a YHA place. Great staff, great location, good enough for facilities and fantastic value. Highly recommend
- Paul (8/5): Great value for money and location - Typical YHA experience with basic dorms and facilities but exceptional value for money, particularly for Hong Kong. Staff are great, helpful, friendly and flexible. Location is in a remote spot on Lantau island, which is tricky to get to at night unless you take a taxi from Tung Chung (take a blue taxi which will cost you 180 HKD). A 10 min walk from the Big Buddha and monastery and plenty of hiking on in the area. The dorm corridor can get a bit noisy at night because it echoes, so take ear plugs (standard issue for hostel beds!). All in all a good stay in a great location. Would recommend
- Hiruy (6/5): They Overbooked - I was not actually able to stay at this location. I had my reservation, but a few hours before my arrival, I got a note through hotels.com that they are unable to accommodate me because they overbooked. They offered for me sleep in a tent on their location. I thought that was strange, but upon asking for a refund, I was never contacted again.
