Guest Reviews
- Sarah-Anne (10/5): -
- Peter (10/5): Can’t wait to return for a longer stay - Beautifully cared for and designed. A real nature reserve
- Mark (10/5): Peaceful retreat - Our cabin was well set out and in a great quiet location with beautifully maintained grounds and lovely wildlife, it was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The pool looked inviting although we didn’t go swimming.
Many thanks to Carol who was en excellent host, ensuring we were ok and bringing back up lights during a short power outage, due to the thunderstorm in the area. There was nothing we didn’t like about our stay here
- MUN YEE (10/5): Nice place - Good
- April (10/5): Welcoming, clean and comfortable. - Carol was very welcoming! The cabin is in a gorgeous location, very homey feel for while I was away for work, very tidy and facilities were excellent. Very pleased with my stay!
- Janetzki (10/5): Peaceful and serene - Peaceful, beautiful gumtrees, friendly owners.
We were lucky enough to meet some joeys adjacent to the cabins which was magical.
Will definitely stay again N/A
- Sonja (10/5): - Peaceful and clean environment to relax and enjoy
- Natalie (8/5): Nice cabin - Cabin itself was well designed and outfitted. The outsude area was lovely. Watching the local wildlife. We did not realise the property was also used for camping. Tents lined up next to our cabin took away from the atmosphere. No wood provided for fire pit. The shower not draining properly.
- Diann (8/5): Excellent cabin stay that I passed onto to family locally - The unique set up and conveniences Septic smell at times - and pump noise when others using water
- Gurkamal (10/5): Carol is an excellent host. We stayed over the Christmas time and she stopped by our cabin and showed us a little Joey i - The property is quite big and the cabin was cozy enough with all the essentials available n/a

- Mackey (10/5): Mistinthegumtress is a great place to stay for a quite weekend. - It was a beautiful cabin nestled in the bush. Vey peaceful. It had everything we needed. The cabins were clean with plenty of room. The furniture was modern and neat. A perfect place for a weekend away. The cabin could sleep 11 people but never felt too big. There was no WiFi. It said this in the property details but I didn't see it. No big deal though. I had phone reception.

- Ardiyanto (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved it. The cabin is tucked away in a peaceful gumtree forest, away from the hustle bustle of Hunter Valley. Super tranquil and perfect for unwinding.
Everything was spotless and clearly well looked after. We spotted lots of wildlife which made the whole experience even more special. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, gave us a lovely little tour and made us feel right at home.
We also enjoyed a campfire under the stars and did a BBQ right at our patio, it was the perfect way to relax and soak in the peaceful surroundings.
Highly recommend if you're after a nature escape that's comfortable, charming, and full of character. Nothing
- Prica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victor (10/5): The Host Carol very helpful and informative, nothing was a problem felt very welcome. - Well maintained, so peaceful, nice location. The serenity just amazing.
- Krystal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): Rest and roam
among the gum trees - We were welcomed by Carol and her two sweet and affectionate dogs.
It was a very comfortable cabin in a beautifully maintained property. Loved watching a wallaby casually eating the grass in front of the cabin, and we were delighted to see a little face poking out of her pouch! We took many photos of the kookaburras, finches, Willy Wagtails, and magpies that greeted us as we wandered around. Loved that the quiet was only interrupted by birdsong. It was a great place to relax and enjoy nature. Everything was great.
- Adrian (10/5): Highly recommend a stay at Mistinthegumtrees Eco Luxury Cabins - Wonderful quiet bush location with private, modern, clean and well equipped fully self-contained cabins.
Short drive to the township of Cooranbong for any supplies you may need.
No Wifi, although good phone service, but leave technology behind and enjoy the surrounding gardens and bush.
The owner Carol was very accommodating and always available for any assistance needed. Nothing not to like about this property.
- Megan (7/5): Not quite worth the money - Lovely quiet location. Cabin very clean. Just a little more attention to detail in order to give excellent rating - lighting in lounge room and bedroom very bright, could have done with either dimmers, or a side light. Also, missed having a couple of little tables to put a drink on whilst relaxing on the nice sofa.
Described as having a heated pool, and it is not heated (as too expensive) - so this needs to be taken off the description.
Just a bit disappointed. For the money, I wanted it to be just a bit better
- Pam (10/5): Perfect!! Close to everything I needed - Quiet if we had more time it’s a lovely area to relax do walks, read books, set up for barbecues. Great place to just relax. Close to shops if needed.
- Adrian (9/5): Pretty luxurious for such a nature setting - Beautiful serene place.
If you take a stroll in the morning you most likely will see wallabies hopping around.
The cabin was well equipped.
Barbeque on the terrace.
Enough parking place. The mattress and pillows could be more comfortable.
- Michelle (8/5): Great escape without going to far - Great location and the cabins are well set up and finished.
- Ajaya (8/5): Very supportive and friendly host. Actual property much better than on the pics. :) - Very supportive and friendly host. Very neat, clean and well maintained property. Natural green, close to the nature with sighting of roos and hare very common. Outdoor pool was very useful to get kids entertained. Kitchen and living room could have been better for large family.
- Veerajjacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Deanna (10/5): Can’t wait to stay again - Everything. The luxury, the manicured bush setting, the wildlife. The serenity. That I had to leave and go back to reality
- Leah (8/5): A beautiful property that is well maintained, offering a tranquil setting for a holiday. We can highly recommend the two - It was very peaceful as we were the only guests staying on the property, it was lovely and clean and comfortable. Our carpark was a distance from the cabin which was challenging when we were caught in heavy rain. However in fine weather the parking distance was obviously no problem.
- Deanna (10/5): Peaceful tranquil 4 star luxury. A hidden gem. - The property is beautiful. The cabin is beautifully appointed. Wish I had longer. The serenity and bush sounds make it so relaxing. Watching the birds and wildlife was a highlight. Nothing. It was wonderful
- Christin (9/5): Carol is very friendly and hospitable. She responds quickly to all my messages. The cabin is very well-maintained. Highl - The place is quiet, the landscape is beautiful. Carol puts a lot of details in the decoration in the cabin as well as outside in the garden. It is also very clean.
- Michael (9/5): Very tranquil area. Cabin was well equipped. - Very quiet and peaceful area. The owner, Carol, was very friendly and accomodating.
- Jessica (10/5): My stay was wonderful and relaxing. - My cabin was secluded and surrounded by greenery, loved how the canines were decorated- I would definitely stay there again. It is a lovely place.
- Robyn (10/5): Get my sanity back - Mist in the Gums is the most peaceful place and quite beautiful. Carol is an excellent host and very friendly. The cabin was so clean and had everything you would need. I would thoroughly recommend Mist in the Gums to anyone. please keep in mind it is quite a way from Lake Macquarie.
- Andrew (9/5): Peace and Tranquility - The location is tranquil and beautiful. Lots of birdlife. The house is modern and well appointed. It only has 1 bathroom, although there are extra toilets not far from the house near the swimming pool.
- Erin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jolynn (2/5): Very poor - The only redeeming quality about the place was that the owner allowed us a late checkout without charging us for it. The hot water and water pressure was good and the surrounding bush was beautiful. There were two rooms in our cabin. My friend was lucky as the power points and TV in her room was working whilst they weren't working in mine. Additionally there were spiders on the wall and floors and cobwebs on my bed. Plugs in the kitchen weren't working either. It was dismal. We didn't even get to meet the owner as she didn't come to greet us but I suppose that's the nature of what an ecocabin stay is like. For checkout, we were just instructed to leave the key in a safe box
- Brett (10/5): Lovely Place, Even Better Hosts. - So what an adventure we had...the hosts repeatedly emphasised not to go on the grass, and yet yours truly managed to back the car into the grass and get seriously bogged. So did the hosts come out with "clod" "twit" or "moron" as they were most entitled to do? No, what they did is drop their steak meal mid bite and launch themselves out of their door and into a tractor to tow us out. It was truly amazing. In fact, it was almost worth getting bogged just to watch the majesty of the rescue. Not having finished with that little debacle, your truly then forgot his book when we left, and low and behold they will post it back to me. No problem. No worries. And we won't even mention the clumsy oaf (not me this time) that split rosemary tea on the main bed...I didn't even know about that one until just now. While we are usually really good guests, we were most unwittingly not the greatest this time, and yet they were the best of hosts. And really, that is the true test of an amazing host, it is still being wonderful and helpful when things are NOT going well... I have to mention the beautiful lovely little joeys they brought around for my kiddies to pat. They were amazing. They were always destined to get 10/10. I am only sorry I cannot give them a higher score. Their personal stories if they choose to tell you are as amazing as their service.... Thank you both so much. N.A.
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Alisha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet, private, beautifully made with everything you need.
- Elaine (10/5): Awesome getaway!! - Amazing place! So peaceful. Beautiful surroundings and cabin. Very very comfortable and extremely clean. We were so lucky to be the only guests at the time. Pool and surrounds were great. Very cute and super friendly dogs. Carol and Dee are wonderful hosts. Totally recommend. We would love to go back.
- Rebecca (10/5): - We had a really enjoyable weekend away. The pool and surroundings were amazing. The 2 bedroom cottage had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Thanks so much!
- Sally (10/5): What a gem! - This is a special surprise of a place. Set up to accommodate a small group for a wedding or such, there ar
E two homes, one with two bedrooms, one with 4-5 bedrooms. There’s a pool and function space near the pool, we didn’t use these.
We were there to have several quiet days at the end of a longer trip, this was perfect, delightful birds singing, plenty of garden to sit and read in. We loved it.
Warning for those who don’t like dogs, owners have several very friendly nice dogs but if you want to let them know they will be kept away from you.
- Matt (10/5): - Was beautiful accomodation which was peaceful and surrounded by the sounds of nature.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Carol, the host - what an amazing woman. The property is beautiful, the cabins are unique and clean, comfortable etc. and she supports the local community. Will be going back!
- Kim (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful stay - We had such a relaxing weekend, just swimming and relaxing in the lovely cabin. The bush outlook and privacy is amazing, we were fortunate enough to be the only couple here. Thank you Carol for sharing your lovely space. Will stay again.
- Allan (10/5): Super clean, unique sanctuary - What a lovely stay we had at MistintheGumTrees!
We prefer apartments because we have a 7 year old, so it’s always handy to have a kitchen and the laundry was an added bonus.
I looked around and chose this place because it looked spotless - and it’s just as clean as it looks in the photos. I loved the quirky decor, the beautiful setting (the photos don’t do it justice) and the proximity to Lake Macquarie. It’s clear Carol loves the place - she takes care of it and goes out of her way to help guests enjoy their stay (but then also leaves you to get on with it!).
There are two apartments on the grounds (we stayed in the two bed), but no one was in the other apartment when we were staying. The landscape design was laid out so that, if someone was there, I don’t think it would have mattered.
- Jeremy (10/5): Lodge in the heart of the national parks - A great country getaway in a perfect location at the heart of the national parks. My son and I stayed at the smaller lodge for 4 nights and in the day time explored the Yengo National Park, the Watagans National Park and Hunter Valley Wine region.
The owner was very friendly and helpful, the property is very clean and well maintained and the location is perfect.
We will certainly be returning
- dan (10/5): - Lovely room
Very child friendly
