- 531kel (2/5): Events take priority over everything else - I stayed two nights. Service was horrible--reception and restaurant service. I had to ask several times for a menu, wait to be seated, wait for staff to bring the bill, etc. There seemed to be a large event while I was there and staff was no where to be found. It appeared that staff where prioritized for the event. I found blood stains on the linens. Reception asked me to point the stains out prior to changing the linens. Overall, the hospitality was very lacking compared to other places I have stayed during this trip.
- johnbS8477WI (10/5): Had a great weekend - We stayed two nights over Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were five adults in two standard rooms plus a woodland hut. Accommodation was very good. We had dinner in The Cowshed restaurant - food and service were excellent. Being Easter, there were many families with young children, so the Saturday morning breakfast was not the most relaxing, but we were happy with it. There were wedding celebrations going on, but we were not disturbed. There’s plenty to do - good walks, activities for children. We walked to tennis courts locally in Tewin. The place had a good vibe and was well run with good staff. Plenty of parking. Would recommend.

Staff are friendly Cons 1. You have to book well in advance to secure a lunch or dinner table even if you’re staying there as a guest 2. The food was not as tasty as expected given it is farm to fork. The pork belly was very difficult to cut through
- PSZTN (10/5): If you haven’t been, go!!! - We found this quite by chance when looking for a dog friendly place to stay. It’s very near to us but was an out of this world experience! It is a spotless, clean and well maintained vast space with shepherd huts, woodland huts and garden rooms, dogs have an abundance of walks to go on, kids have a beautiful play park, animals to look at and the view is simply stunning. There are lots of places to eat, an area outside with sofas, four wood burners and the most delicious homemade pizzas. The stable bar had a singer who was unbelievable. Everyone who works there falls over themselves to help you. The food in the stable bar was exceptional as well as the choices of wine and drinks. The river, the accommodation that is beautiful and feels luxurious. I forgot the breakfast, buffet style with continuous hot food, pastries and continental style food available too with dietary considered options also. I just cannot recommend Tewinbury highly enough.

Although the room was lovely , it wasn’t value for the money I paid . Food nice but very pricey! Pretty venue and lovely staff

- Gianna920 (10/5): Beautiful place for a family reunion. - Wonderful stay at Tewinbury for a 95th birthday party. The room was gorgeous with lovely colours, HUGE and very comfortable bed. The best hot drinks station I’ve ever seen (including many 5* hotels I’ve stayed). Great breakfast and pleasant, professional, speedy service. We will come again I’m sure.

Disappointed as prices are high and yet you're left waiting ages for anyone to take your order and then to actually be served. Ordered glass of prosecco which came after 20 min and glass was half full!
- KarlaG01 (10/5): Incredibly perfect stay! - My husband and I stayed for our anniversary weekend in a lake hut. I rarely use the word perfect but its the only way to describe this trip from beginning to end. The lake hut was stunning fitted with every mod con and more you could think of. We really didnt even want to venture out but you must. The grounds are gorgeous. We found so many little nooks and crannys to explore. We are in the Cowshed. The chef and staff were uber helpful adapting the meal to suit our taste. After a quick trip to the bar in the most beautiful converted barn. Every detail has been thought of. Every touch perfect. Thank you Tewinbury for the best weekend. We will be back,
- sarowdy (2/5): Not relaxing when there’s a party until 1am - Not the relaxing stay expected by the website description when there’s a party or event. ‘Just bring yourself and we’ll take care of the rest’ is some claim. We were looking forward to this 3 night stay for months for some rest from the big smoke. Sadly it did not work out and we left after one night. Very poor check in, cold staff member who did neither welcome nor explain anything apart from the room we were allocated. By 6pm on the second night we could tell a party was on in the barn 10 metres from our room. At 7pm the loud pumping music started and lairy folk walking past our window. We asked reception what time it would finish and were told to accept after midnight and that it was made clear in the website and our booking that parties happen. This was neither clear nor an acceptable excuse. With a child a 1am bedtime is not excusable. We rushedly left and paid for one night. Staff seemed uncaring about the impact. San was fantastic though, the only member of staff who cared and helped us to feel welcome. It would have been a different experience if we could have actually stayed as planned.
- semgig (10/5): A Lovely Family Friendly Hotel & Farm. - Had a lovely couple of days at Tewinbury recently. My room was cosy and comfortable with everything I needed for my stay. The food was absolutely delicious, we had breakfast at the Granary Restaurant with very generous portions and the quality was excellent. Dinner in the Courtyard Restaurant was to a very high standard. There are lovely walks nearby with alpacas, sheep and pigs and childrens activities. Throughout our stay the staff were so friendly and helpful we will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

- helenmstarbuck (4/5): Bad service again - I met friends for lunch in The Granary restaurant. This is not my first visit and unfortunately the service has been the same most times. We were sat down, asked for our drinks order. Two of us asked for lemonade and lime one without ice. The drinks came, it was soda and lime and both had ice. They took them away, brought back lemonade and no ice in either. We just kept those, next one friend asked what exactly was in the Spanish omlettte "well eggs obviously" was the answer! We ordered and her omlettte arrived. It was obviously pre prepared in a large tray as it was a lump of cubed eggs, looked like a cake. When they cleared the plates no one asked if the food was OK, with the amount of food left it wasn't. We weren't offered dessert or coffee. We were there 2hrs, on asking for the bill we were asked if you didn't want anything else! Also while there a couple had a very yappy dog who no one told to be quiet apart from other diners. The staff didn't ask them to stop it out they could have asked them to sit outside under the heaters. It was very annoying. Other times we have been staff have huffed at us if we ask for things, so this time we decided to just go with the bad service. We will not be returning. I have tried calling to let them know, it seems to go no further than reception.

- Discover16397948857 (4/5): Operational Issues and Disappointment - We got married at Tewinbury in November 2025. The barn, grounds and setting are genuinely lovely, the food was delicious, and the ceremony itself went as perfectly as can be. Our guests had a very enjoyable evening overall, and on the surface, it was a beautiful wedding day. Unfortunately, the way the day was handled by the operations team left a very sour feeling, and that ultimately overshadows what should have been a seamless, well-coordinated event, especially given the amount we spent. After the ceremony and outdoor photos, we encountered significant issues that resulted in our wedding breakfast being delayed by well over an hour. There was a serious lack of communication and visibility from the coordinator throughout this period, and getting an answer from staff about what was happening was near impossible. We paused indoor photos because we believed the meal was imminent as per the order of the day, only to slowly realise as time went on with no update that we were facing a significant delay to the wedding breakfast and subsequent events of the day. Had we known, we could at least have taken more family and group photos that were planned for after the meal, something we therefore missed out on entirely and can never get back. I would gladly pay thousands to have those official photos of friends and family we lost due to this and to not have had my wife cry on our wedding day due to the delays caused by Tewinbury’s confusion and lack of communication on the day itself. The delay had subsequent knock-on effects: • We lost a full paid hour of our DJ and externally hired photo booth • Our photographer had to stay later than agreed to capture key moments • Cake cutting and first dance were rushed • Some guests had to leave before seeing these moments at all Table layout and setup were another major issue. Despite providing a floor plan some weeks in advance and discussing the layout with the sales team both on email and in person, tables were not laid out as discussed, resulting in close family being placed far away from us and some tables being very cramped. On the day, the coordinator told us there were issues accessing the PDF, which raised serious concerns about preparation. Ultimately, there was lack of clarity around the layout prior to the day, and if there was any confusion from Tewinbury’s side about our layout prior to the day, this was not raised with us to make sure they got things correct. There were numerous smaller, albeit still noticeable and important to my wife and I, operational issues throughout the day, including: • Alcoholic shots being placed at tables with children • Items clearly labelled and provided for the day being left in cupboards • Centrepieces set up incorrectly, which the bride had to try to correct during photos • Guests having to ask for desserts that hadn’t been served • A table for glow sticks and song requests never being set up as planned • Inconsistent and contradictory information from staff One of the most concerning of all was my wife being served a breakfast platter containing pineapple on the morning of the wedding, despite a clearly stated allergy. This should never happen in the first place but clearly sets a bad tone from the beginning of the day and raised anxiety on an already anxious day, and the response to this was deeply disappointing. We feel that the responses received to our feedback and concerns have only exacerbated our frustrations. Several points were dismissed, contradicted, or just left unanswered. We feel there was a lack of empathy for how upsetting these issues were on such an important day, and we were left with a strong impression of a disconnect between what is promised during the sales process and what the operations team can actually deliver. To be clear, this is obviously a beautiful venue with great food and a big reputation that I’m sure won’t be hampered by our review. But we planned this for 2 whole years, and it felt like the attitude of the team making it a reality on the day was to turn up and wing it, and none of the responses received have made us feel otherwise. I would have loved to have been leaving a 5* review, but the reality is that we feel some sadness when we think about parts of our wedding day

Food and service is excellent. We have been coming since we got married here 25 years ago, and every year we see improvements to the facilities as the business has evolved over the years. Had the Afternoon Tea which was delicious, along with dinner and the buffet breakfast. It was also lovely sitting outside on the sofas under the canopy with the heaters and twinkling lights. A special mention to all the staff. From booking in at Reception to every meal/drink, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be visiting again!

- N4610MHannac (10/5): Excellent - Tewinbury Farm is a lovely, spacious place set in beautiful surroundings. There are several car parks on site, although only the main car park is clearly signposted, which could be improved. The entire property is very clean and well maintained, and the names of the rooms are a nice, quirky touch. The food was lovely, and breakfast was very good — although the breakfast area is quite small, there is a wide variety of choices available. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and polite throughout our stay, which made the experience even better. I was lucky to have a room just behind reception (The Gardener), which meant a very short walk to breakfast. Some rooms are much further away, and I’ve been told it can take up to 15 minutes to walk there. That said, the walk sounds pleasant in spring and summer as it goes past the lake and scenic areas. In winter, however, parts of the pathway are not well lit — even near my room there was a noticeably dark patch. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and ideal for two people. The bed and pillows were soft and comfortable, and the bathroom had a modern design. There was a good selection of teas and coffees. Although the windows were not double-glazed, the room didn’t feel cold at all — in fact, it was warm enough that we turned the air conditioning on. Waking up in the morning was a highlight, as our room and front door faced an open field, making sunrise and sunset views really enjoyable. In the evening it does get completely dark, but that’s expected given the rural location. Overall, a very good stay. Clean, comfortable, great food, friendly staff, and lovely scenery — I would definitely recommend it.

It was freezing!! Plus the band didn’t start playing till 10pm as we were leaving. So spent hours shivering and trying to stay warm. Would not be booking again as it ruined our New Year’s celebrations.
- 464charliep (2/5): New Years Eve at Tewinbury Farm - wrap up warm! - We love Tewinbury Farm. It’s a beautiful venue, well run, and usually a safe bet. Unfortunately, New Year’s Eve in The Farmyard Barn was less “festive countdown” and more “Arctic endurance test”. The event started at 7:30pm, but what wasn’t made clear at booking was that this was essentially an open barn with fire pits dotted around the room. Heating was technically “pumped in”, but as useful as a candle heating a cathedral. Everyone was absolutely freezing, guests, bar staff, and even the band, who looked like they were playing purely for survival. A DJ and band were advertised, no DJ was present when I left, the band was actually decent once they got going, but they didn’t start until beyond 9pm, and there was very little atmosphere before then. Just after 10pm, a noticeable number of people had already given up and gone home. We held out until just after 11:30pm before accepting defeat and retreating to the warmth of a taxi to get the circulation and feeling back in our legs. We were offered a complimentary Budweiser or Prosecco at the start (possibly as a warming aid?), but couldn’t buy any more Budweiser afterwards Drinks from the bar were served in plastic glasses, that’s not cool for Guinness or Prosecco. My fiancé cleverly kept hold of the Prosecco glass given on arrival but my friend couldn’t suffer his favourite pint in a flexi plastic pint glass. At £40 per person, it felt like a bit of a rip-off, especially given that there was no indication this was effectively an outdoor event. Ironically, the highlight of the night was the trip to the toilets, where people gathered not out of necessity, but to defrost. Every toilet conversation revolved around the same topic: “How cold are you?” In summary: lovely venue, good band, poor planning. If you’re hosting a winter event in an open barn, guests need very clear expectations, or thermal underwear included in the ticket price.! The venue does have other rooms, which appeared to be vacant, this party could have been relocated when the weather forecast was known. Hats off to the team who endured the weather and worked through the New Year We’ll happily return to Tewinbury Farm… just not to celebrate New Year’s Eve unless dressed like we’re climbing Everest. 🥶🎉

- Jae903 (10/5): My Happy Place to stay when visiting friends in the area. - Stayed in the Riverside Lodge with eco hot tub. Great size lodge with lounge area, bedroom with loads of wardrobe space and good size bathroom with gorgeous toiletries. Plus complimentary drinks including alcoholic in the fridge. I only knocked off a star for the room as the lounge area just needs some minor tweaks like coat hooks and a bit more colour to make it less bland and make you smile as you walk in like with the Woodland Hut that I’ve stayed in. The hot tub garden area was much larger than I anticipated and private. It’s positioned down a track by the lake with other lodges, but away from the main hotel so is lovely and quiet. Yet just a few minutes walk back to the bar and restaurants. Plenty of dog walks straight from your front door. All the staff are so friendly, attentive and helpful. I would totally recommend.

Way too spread out and bits of it looked like someone had just hung fairy lights from the garden centre on fences, it just seemed kind of empty. No show stopping section and the scenes felt samey. Big plus point though was that the dog could come with us! We really like the grounds so we will come back to try some of the other things here - but abit disappointed they missed the mark on the trail as the kids had so much fun last year

There was no atmosphere and the lights just felt like glorified garden decorations - certainly not worth the ticket price! We’d finished it in 1/2 hour. There was only one place serving drinks on the trail itself and everything else seemed like it was closing. They’d run out of mulled wine - surely an essential festive drink. There was no live music or DJ set and only burgers and jacket potatoes available to eat as the pizza we were looking forward to had stopped serving at 8.40! The website description has somewhat oversold this experience. My advice, don’t bother!

To use hot tub and keep it warm a wood burner has to be fed logs for hours and hours ie objective is to make you give up and not use it. Breakfast is a school canteen style buffet with limited healthy options - and mostly greasy fried food.

Slightly disappointed with accommodation room being so close to another loud and very late wedding on the Friday which did spoil the whole weekend so be careful to check where room is located when booking or what other ‘events’ are being held when you are booking any trip here.

- rebeccalexis (8/5): Family stay at tewinbury farm - The farm is beautiful, rooms are lovely, very clean. I had the pleasure of staying in a really nice family room. Sadly this was let down by very loud drunk guests, with one night ending in an arrest happening on my doorstep. The staff and police were very patient and great at dealing with the issue but I feel my family was completely overlooked in regards to such a noisy situation happening on our doorstep until 2am. I had to go to the reception in the morning and ask for some extra time to checkout so my kids could try to sleep in. I feel like an offer of a free meal or a discount because of all the disturbance would have been greatly appreciated. I also have to say the food is quite over priced for what it is in the granary kitchen and in no restaurant were we asked if we were staying as we should have received a 10 percent discount on food. Cleaning staff are impeccable and the small touches like pillow spray, sewing kit and much more are really lovely touches. The breakfast is outstanding, probably the best buffet breakfast I have ever had, really enjoyed it. Would be amazing if it lasted until 11, that way if guests have a bad night's sleep due to drunk guests they can at least get some sleep in the the morning and still manage to make breakfast. In total I spent just about £900 for a two night stay and eat at tewinbury, (one of the days I was at a wedding so did not eat at the farm, had I been there the price would have been more towards £1100) At this price range I absolutely expect a better night's sleep. Overall I would recommend tewinbury and would love to go back but would be weary about being placed next door to wedding party's again.

However, the Sunday afternoon roast in the Cow Shed was a bit of a letdown as was the Tewin Burger. The staff were also a little under par too. We had issues with our room as was not what we had booked but the Reception staff couldn’t do enough to put this right and provided us with a beautiful room what we had expected to stay in. The walk around the land is beautiful and seeing the animals an added touch. The Stable Bar has a really relaxed vibe and would definitely recommend.

There are weddings regularly at this venue, including one the night we stayed but I just popped some earplugs in and wasn’t bothered by it. Would stay again.

- angelaproc2r (10/5): Beautiful countryside stay with excellent food - This is a gorgeous countryside hotel, with lots of walks around, a playground for kids, relaxed eating areas, a pub/bar and a restaurant. The room was perfect, clean, quiet and really nicely fitted out. The food was so good, we had a 3 course meal which catered well to allergens and the breakfast as well. You can tell it's top ingredients all locally sourced, really delicious. The staff were all very friendly and we'd definitely visit again.

- 343Chris (10/5): Magical Overnight Stay - My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Tewinbury Farm Hotel. What an enchanting place. We hired a lakeside lodge with hot tub which was just perfect for us-it was so peaceful. The only downside to the stay was having to leave!

- Christopher (10/5): Was so amazing i had to go back a month later! - Honestly cannot speak highly of Tewinbury Farm Hotel and The lake view cabins they are such an amazing experience for just unwinding and having nature just on your doorstep. The cabin has everything you want, the bath tub is great to relax in and overlook the lake and then once your relaxed there head to the bed and enjoy a very comfortable bed. Already wanting to go back there and the staff went above and beyond giving me the Cornflower room which is the room i stayed previously and requested to stay there again which they fulfilled. Book the room now you wont regret it!

- 933paml (10/5): Great place to stay! - This is a unique environment offering a number of opportunities to create a memorable holiday experience. We took advantage of the farm walks, where our youngest child loved seeing the animals at close hand. We enjoyed lovely food for breakfast and lunch, and appreciated the hospitality of the staff who were always on hand. There was a wedding celebration and a child’s birthday party while we were there, neither of which got in the way of our own enjoyment of the place. It’s a massive space, with a focus on relaxation, fun, enjoyment and opportunities for peace and quiet. We’re definitely planning to return.
- KateI130 (8/5): A very professional outfit - Staying here with family for a wedding nearby. The Hotel and bar feel like a very busy, well run organisation with several different events all happening at the same time. Lovely location on the banks of a chalk stream with walkers passing through the centre as well. Accommodation and services all very good. If you are looking for somewhere quiet or peaceful this might not be the place for you at a weekend mid summer season, but it is great for social gatherings. The staff were all excellent.
- citybreak25 (10/5): Beautiful family-friendly hotel - We loved our stay at this hotel and will definitely be back. There were 3 of us (two adults and a 5 year old) and we stayed in the Swan room. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. This room had an upstairs with a little kitchenette which was nice. We did not notice any noise from the wedding parties. The air con worked really well. The door was a bit iffy to close from the outside. There was plenty of room to store luggage and it was decorated nicely. We ate in the Cowshed in the evening and went to the Stable bar for drinks. The meal in the Cowshed was tasty and the staff were friendly. The kids menu was a bit niche and not great for fussy eaters so that's my only negative feedback. But overall, it was a great experience. The surrounding areas are beautiful. There is plenty of land to walk around and we saw alpacas and pigs on our walk. There is a little on-site swing park which my daughter loved. Overall, this was a lovely find and we will stay again. The location is great for a little family break as it's near to Hertfordshire Zoo and Welwyn Garden City so although it gives the impression of being far away in the countryside, it is still near amenities and things to do. Would highly recommend.

- W2332WZmelissar (4/5): Beautiful surroundings but will NOT go back. - Had to be in the area for a meeting the following morning but there was limited availability so we booked into another property for the night. However, being a beautiful summer day we booked a table at The Stables to relax and unwind over a glass of wine and some nibbles. We pre-booked the terrace, and they had kindly reserved us a little table overlooking the brook, they made clear there was no guarantee we could sit down. Having sat in mostly stationary traffic for 3 hours to get there, we were concerned we might have to stand up for 2 hours. On arrival,we were the only customers - there were quite a few staff but no table service. So went to the bar to order. Ordered a pizza as they didn't have some other things on the menu. As the driver I asked for some Tewin Bury water. "We don't sell the water here", even though it was clearly on the menu. "You can have some tap water". Service was not just slow, but the people there just seemed disinterested. I don't know what they think babaganoush is, but whatever they brought us definitely wasn't. It was a tastleless paste served with triangles of thin, store-bought focaccia which was so stale it was like eating shoe leather. The pizza was obviously brought in as it came in a box. It was dripping with chili oil and wasn't cut into slices, and there wasn't enough room on our table for the pizza box and anything else. Hubby had 3 glasses of so-so Languedoc rose, plus I had 2 glasses of tap water, one greasy pizza and a little bowl of nasty, pale green slush with rock hard, stale bread chips - £65. Asked where the smoking area was - was told, "You can smoke anywhere". Pointed out that there were no ashtrays and was handed a paper cup. I had to beg for something else (was eventually handed a saucer). Staff were polite, but seemed exasperated by the lack of menu choices and left to improvise (badly). The capper was when a woman brought her screaming young children to the wine bar, which is advertised as an adults-only venue (even though the rest of the farm is family-friendly). Our table was booked for 2.5 hours but we left after 1 hour.
- Chris (10/5): Amazing Lakeside Hut - What can i say about Tewinbury Farm Hotel other then WOW!! Its such a lovely place and was my second stay here. First stay was in the Lincoln red room with the hot tub and was lovely however this time i wanted to try one of the Lake huts and was giving the Cornflower hut and i was not disappointed in the slightest. The cabin is surprisingly spacious and is very well thought out with a great view over the lake and the alfresco bath tub which was amazing. I would highly recommend spending a night in once of these huts as it really did feel like a special place.

What really made our short stay stand out was the customer service from every single one of the staff. Friendly, polite, attentive and it felt like they are part of a big family all trying to do the very best possible.

- Dmun66 (4/5): Granary Kitchen Tewinbury Farm - Such a shame had an amazing birthday Sunday Lunch here a few weeks ago for 16 people, went book again for August so could have a lovely lunch and then meet additional people in the riverside bar for drinks only to be told no longer do group bookings and would have to book a private room, seems a further ploy by a business to get yet more money by charging a venue hire.

Food options limited for dietary requirements but tasty. Some rooms are worth the price but others maybe not as much. Package deals are worth it. Hot tub was easy to use and a great addition. Definitely dog friendly, accommodation felt very private.

A most professional wedding organiser in Emily and the staff who work with her. Quinn was so helpful and really made us feel at ease. He came over to me the day afterwards and asked how everything went which was loveley of him as he wasn't working on the evening of the wedding.
- T981LYclaireh (6/5): Beautiful place, but very quick to accuse people of taking items - we attended a wedding here and had a wonderful time, the venue is great, the rooms lovely. the wedding areas are also great, with delicious food served throughout the day, the issue came when we were changed after leaving from something that i then queried to be told we had taken items from the room, which we absolutely had not. multiple emails back and forth, challenging the charge to the account, whilst the story seemed to keep changing in each email. Before eventually coming to a resolution. This completely tarnished what had been a wonderful time. My recommendation, do a sweeping video of the room to prove whats in there when you check in, and do the same again when you leave to prove whats there when you leave, this way you will have evidence should you find additioanl charges after chceking out.
- rachaelr302025 (8/5): Lovely stay in woodland hut - We had a great stay in the woodland hut. It was away from the main hotel with a great cabin in the woods feel. We lit the log fire outside and the space was great. The breakfast in the morning was amazing. Would recommend and stay again :)

The setting is absolutely stunning – surrounded by lush countryside, it feels like a true escape from everyday life. Our room was beautifully presented, spotlessly clean, and full of charming touches that made it feel really special. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we had a lovely view to wake up to. We also dined on-site and were not disappointed. The food was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared, with a great selection of drinks and locally sourced ingredients. Every part of the property felt thoughtfully designed – from the cosy interiors to the peaceful outdoor spaces. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into maintaining both the venue and the guest experience. Whether you’re looking for a romantic countryside break, a special celebration spot, or simply a relaxing night away, I would highly recommend Tewinbury Farm. We’re already planning our return!
