• Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a nice room with a very nice bathroom and a terrasse to the street where you can sit. The room was very small and it was very noisy from the street (drunken people and motorbikes/cars). In general I would not recomend to stay there! It is way too expensive for what it is! No breakfast included (you pay 5$ extra for that). 10min walk from the slow boat pier was next very handy & the boss was friendly. Rooms where clean. In Pak Beng you can get twin bed rooms spontanous from 5$ a night, no need to book anything in advance:)

• Nick (8/5): A very good stopover. - Located 1 minutes walk from the ferry, next to the shops and restaurants. The room was spacious and clean, the bed was large and comfortable and the WiFi was good.

However, our next door neighbour was smoking alot on the narrow common balcony/walkway, and our room smelled of cigarette smoke, even with windows closed. Would be alot better if there designated smoking area away from the rooms.

• Ebbe (8/5): Enkelt men rent guest house - Vi havde en enkelt overnatning undervejs fra Luang Prabang til Huay Xai. DP Guest House var udmærket til dette. Pænt og rent, dejlig balkon med gode stole. Der var ingen elkedel og intet køleskab. Morgenmaden var fin.

• Verified traveler (4/5): - Bei unserer Ankunft im Guesthouse wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass es einen Fehler bei der Buchung gegeben hätte und unser Zimmer belegt sei. Nach kurzer Diskussion hat uns der Besitzer ein alternatives Guesthouse gleich nebenan angeboten. Nach Besichtigung des Zimmers mussten wir allerdings feststellen, dass dieses nicht ansatzweise den gleichen Standard hat. Als wir dem nicht zustimmten, bot uns der Besitzer einen lächerlichen Preisnachlass von ca. 5€ an. Schlussendlich haben wir dann doch das gebuchte Zimmer bekommen. Das Zimmer an sich war sauber und soweit absolut in Ordnung. Trotz bereits ähnlicher Berichte auf Expedia, mussten auch wir diese negative Erfahrung machen. Daher bleibt auch ein negativer Gesamteindruck hängen.

• Nuno (6/5): Ok for 1 night but overpriced - I chose this guesthouse for the convenience of location and the overall good reviews. In fact, the guest house is one of the closest to the pier, and this is a very good advantage if you have to carry your luggage to the top. The room I stayed had decent size and was clean, and so as the bathroom. However, instead of hot water I had slightly warm water; because the weather was cold, this made a difference (I would rather shower in warmer water). More importantly, after checking around in the village I'd realized the cost charged of this guesthouse was way above the standard in Laos, specially because it did not even include breakfast. While the stay was comfortable, I would not stay here on a return trip and would find a more affordable place with breakfast included.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - After a long day floating down the Mekong River in a cramped slow boat the DP Guesthouse was a welcome surprise. The staff were very friendly and the room comfortable and clean. It was a wonderful place to stay.

• Hans (6/5): Praktische Lage - DP Guesthouse ist eine gute Wahl in Pakbeng. Ärgerlich war nur, dass bei unserer Ankunft unser Zimmer nicht zur Verfügung stünde, denn Expedia habe ein Fehler gemacht. Wir würden gegenüber ein Zimmer haben können oder einen "refund" erhalten... Wir weigerten uns und zeigten, dass wir ja schon vor 2 Monaten bezahlten. Und als elderly people sind wir nicht bereit woanders hin zu gehen. Nach einiger Überlegung erhielten wir dann ein Zimmer im OG.
• Manfred (4/5): Winzige, leere Zelle. - Die Zimmer sind winzige Zellen mit NICHTS drin außer einem Bett und einem Stuhl. Auch in der Hochsaison bekommt man jederzeit in Packbeng ein deutlich besseres und zudem günstigeres Zimmer.
• Verified traveler (8/5): no pick up at the pier - After a long day on the boat and finally getting old of our luggage, we were surprised to find nobody waiting for us at the pier. Since the climb is fairly steep, help would have been welcome. Other then that, the room was clean, good mattress and plenty of hot water. Everything needed was provided. I would stay there again.
• AnnieW (8/5): Nice hotel in a boat stop over town. - A nice clean hotel in Pakbeng - this town is just a stop over for the Mekong boat trips so not much there at all. This hotel has a lovely frontage where you can sit and watch the world go by. Small menu at hotel - didn’t try the food. Service very good. Don’t expect much of the wifi but didn’t expect any in the middle of the Mekong. The hotel will pack your breakfast if you catch on early boat. It looked the nicest hotel in the town.
• Jérémie (10/5): Une bonne nuit entre deux jours de bateau - Guesthouse très bien tenue, propre, certes un peu plus chère pour le standard laotien, et pour une etape obligée comme Pak Beng, sur le parcours en bateau vers Luang Prabang, mais répondant aux attentes occidentales: vraie douche avec vrai mitigeur, lit douillet, couette et oreillers moelleux... et petite terrasse à soi pour chaque chambre, donnant sur la rue principale, pas loin de la jetée. Délicieuse Bakery en prime ? Top !
• Alberta (8/5): Buono, ma occhio ai prezzi!! - Questa guesthouse si trova a due passi (seppure ripidi) dal molo d'attracco dei barconi il che permette di evitare il tuk-tuk. Siamo rimasti solo una notte in attesa del barcone per Luang Prabang. Il personale all'accoglienza è stato gentile, ma poi nessuno ci ha considerato, così siamo andati a mangiare altrove. Il bagno è grande e comodo in quanto la zona doccia, anche se pur sempre sul pavimento, resta lontana rispetto al resto e ha anche la tenda. La camera è piccola, ma accogliente con l'intento di aver cura dei particolari per creare una certa eleganza in stile lao. Tutto molto pulito. Siamo arrivati abbastanza infreddoliti e avremmo avuto bisogno di scaldare un pochino la stanza (le cui finestre, come quasi sempre accade nelle guesthouse non sono sigillate, e al posto dei vetri hanno le zanzariere), ma purtroppo, anche in questo caso, il condizionatore non ha la funzione di riscaldamento. Per fortuna, l'acqua della doccia si poteva invece regolare, raggiungendo una temperatura piuttosto calda e una discreta pressione: cose, anche queste, affatto scontate nel sud-est asiatico.. Il Wi-fi non permetteva di connettersi. Il costo della camera era alto rispetto a quello medio prenotato fino ad allora, prezzo per il quale, sempre nel sud-est asiatico, si può pretendere uno standard di pulizia e comfort già alti e almeno la colazione inclusa... Sappiamo ora che si trovano alloggi più convenienti...
• Jeannette (6/5): Clean, simple - DP Guesthouse is clean and a good choice if you are en route on the Mekong River. It is very simple with a nice coffee shop/seating area on the main street. If you can afford a more expensive place in town -- go for it. If this fits your budget and you are there for a night -- it is just fine (and I am fussy).
• Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - This hotel is about 200 yards up the hill from the board. It is on the main street and is surrounded by restaurants, bars, food stands and little stores catering to river travelers. This little family run hotel also serves a good simple breakfast.

• vincent (10/5): A Wonderful Place to Stay on the Mekong River. - This was the nicest place I stayed at during my time in SE Asia. It is in the town of Pak Beng or village if you will located on the Mekong River. Not sure if there are roads in and out of Pak Beng as I arrived on the slow boat from Houi Xai. The shower was nice and warm, the bed very comfortable. Beautiful rosewood flooring and furniture throughout. The proprietor has decent English. He answered all my questions and was very fair with me. Thank you.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Would stay there again. - Good breakfast and great coffee. Short walk to the slow and fast boats pier and near good restaurants. Wifi is really bad, but Tat sees to be the case all over town. Very good value.
• Jens (8/5): Gute Übernachtungsmöglichkeit für Zwischenstop - Viel zu bieten hat Pak Beng nicht. Daher ist ein gutes, sauberes Zimmer hier viel wert. Das bietet das DP Guesthouse. Der Empfang ist freundlich und das Einchecken sehr schnell erledigt. Das Zimmer hat ein gutes Bett, ein sauberes Bad, was braucht man mehr. Frühstück kostet extra, der Kaffee ist gut und das Essen einfach, gut und ausreichend.

• mitch (10/5): Best stop in town - Best location, clean, tasty breakfast and great owner for a very reasonable price. Basic room on the main street is all we needed as we were just there for the overnight slowboat stop. If you can would suggest staying for an extra night and get the feel of a small town.
