It's rustic, with country charms & quirks which was exactly what we wanted (why would you come to Alice otherwise?). The staff put on a really sweet and thoughtful birthday set-up for us, with DIY decorations. Only wish we could've stayed longer!

Ilse (2/5): Teleurstellend! - Fantastische locatie met ontzettend veel potentie maar helaas waardeloos uitgevoerd. Medewerkers die geen idee hadden wat ze deden en totaal niet communiceerde. Een huis vol spinnenwebben en grote gaten in het dak. Ik kan doorgaan, een zeer slechte ervaring. Alles viel eigenlijk tegen, supermooie locatie waar je echt wat moois van kan maken en wat het wellicht ooit ook was. Voor nu, waardeloos, ga niet is mijn advies! Wij boekten en betaalde 2 nachten maar 1 nacht was voor ons echt de max en gingen weg.

Lisa-jane (9/5): An authentic experience away from the tourist trail. - This unique setting, a operating ranch as well as a film set offers an unparalleled experience. We stayed for three days, the first night in a charming stone cottage that featured an open fire with beds for 4 people and another cabin with two separate single beds. The stone and tin bathroom had delightful personal touches and a lovely strong shower. The outside cupboard was stocked with basic utensils, which was all we needed since we enjoyed dinner at the homestead. The beds were comfortable, and the furnishings were of high quality. Nicky and Craig, were genuinely friendly and hospitable, knowledgeable and showing us around the area and particularly to Sunset Hill, which had a table and two chairs where we went every evening to watch the sunset. The homestead offered wifi, and a huge roaring fire was always crackling, with a potbelly stove on the verandah with a table and chairs became our chill out spot while we enjoyed listening to some funky music. We also stayed in the second cabin, the Tin Cottage, which featured a romantic four-poster bed. The bathtub was a fun addition, and little touches like bath salts and creams made it extra special. We visited the nearby carvings and spent some time in Alice, but we were eager to relax and enjoy the views, the goats, and the wonderful hospitality of the people. What wasn't there not to like? I suppose for some, the roads to the cottages were a bit bumpy and rough, but we felt that added to the authenticity of this place.

Louise (1/5): Bad and dishonest people. - The property took almost $1,000 from my account. They cancelled my booking apparently due to bad weather and a power cut. They refused to take any responsibility for refunding the money blaming booking.com and not responding to any communication. I have had to seek a credit card refund.

Richard (8/5): A good change from the luxury hotel vibe if you really want to experience an outback station. - My second visit. Really awesome place with spectacular rock formations and lots of red dirt. Peaceful. Pool is amazing though it was too cold for it this time around. Craig was very helpful and Lyn cooked us just what we wanted. Be aware, you need to want a pioneer style experience, this is no luxury hotel. You're on a working cattle station and you're basically staying in a film set. Internet is only available at the central building but it's super fast and phones work there too. Go up to the lookout. if you leave the door open don't be surprised if goats wander in. The booking info told us to give advance notice if we were needing meals, but no contact info was given. Found an email online but didn't get a reply. Phone is intermittent but got a call back in time so all was good. Couldn't buy a drink this time but I believe that was a temporary issue.

Tamarin (8/5): Quirky and peaceful outback stay - A really relaxing, quirky and peaceful stay in the middle of the central Australian outback. Close to the airport and Alice, Ooraminna Station doesn't disappoint, there is a lot to see and do on this property. We were lucky enough to cuddle some baby goats whilst enjoying the pool in front of the homestead. Later that day we saw some wild brumbies, as well as some cattle and Fiona, the resident donkey. The landscape is something else, rocky red dirt, green lush growth, and startling blue skies all lead to amazing sunsets, especially from the lookout. Our cabin was comfortable, had everything we needed including a portable stove, microwave, and fridge etc. We had an amazing night's rest! Whilst the cabins are off the grid, you can get reception around various parts of the property or really strong Starlink wifi at the homestead/pool area. Highly recommend for some fun when in Alice.

Vince (1/5): Facilities and charges were misrepresented - The location was chosen as it was 40kms from crime ravaged Alice Springs and pets were "allowed". On arrival I was told that it was off season. There was no mention of that in the booking or the website. As far as I could tell I paid normal, not off season, price. Anyway, as it was offseason, the manager was the only staff. The booking and the website said that a restaurant was on site. It was not open. I received 2 emails from the venue, after the booking, recommending that I make a reservation for dinner! I did that by email but I did not receive a response. Anyway, that reinforced that a restaurant meal was availabe. We did not bring food expecting to purchase dinner and breakfast. The only option for food was to go to Alice Springs, something which I was avoiding by booking an out of town site. As far as pets being allowed, I was told for the first time on arrival that a $50 fee would be charged for the pet. There was no mention of that in the booking or the site's website. That fee was excessive given that the accomodation was a small, rustic log cabin. In the end I cancelled the booking due to the misrepresentations and had to go to much trouble to find an alternative.

Fantastic location but inadequate cooking facilities and crockery and cups for a cup of tea. $15 for one beer at the restaurant. Overall, average but could be Excellent with a few changes. Kathryn (10/5): Incredible stay - Such an exceptionally warm welcome. Absolutely adored the peace and tranquility of the remote stay. Felt blessed to make use of the swimming pool on a hot afternoon. Air-con in the tin cabin was a godsend. The sunset view was amazing. The dinner and breakfast were incredibly delicious and plentiful. Both my meatosaurus husband and my vegetarian self felt very nurtured. I wish we'd stayed at least two nights. One night flew by too quickly.

The staff, Enrique and Alberto, could not have been more lovely and wanting our experience to be great. They ran around all day! The facilities were a little tired but we are city folk and not used to rustic! The pool was definitely a highlight for the kids! Bathroom facilities were a bit tired.
Balpreet (1/5): worst experience - this property is surrounded by bushes all around and fires keep happening in the area. during our stay, we had to vacate the property as fire was fast approaching from nearby hills. The owners did not really care much and did not respond to our msgs and calls afterwards. They did not offer any refund and we had to keep talking to booking.com to get status of refund as property stopped responding. Worst experience of vacation and hopefully this property is banned soon seeing the way they treat their customers.

Becca (8/5): Very good - The location was picturesque and as a large group pretty much had the place to ourselves. The pool was awesome and the old pub/film set was alot of fun for pictures. The food and drinks were too expensive. Although the 2 guys that were manning the place cooked us a decent meal they were not chefs and this was not specified when i requested the meals. If so we would have supplied our own meal for that night.
Livia (4/5): Disappointing - Location and cabins were amazing. The two staff on site did their best to accommodate our stay. There was very little information on the site and how to make the most of the stay. A page or guide of walks, lookouts and drives would have been great. Also the cost for dinner was over priced for what we paid which was on top of the accommodation costs. The site has a great deal of potential in terms of tourism - it was disappointing that this was not offered to us.
Jay (10/5): A Great Stay and memorable, even without flames and smoke - Location: it was great being out in the countryside, beautiful surroundings. Location was also good for easy access to both East and West MacDonalds. Loved rustic nature of the property. Nicky and staff were great and accommodating The roads on the property were a bit rough, particularly up to the cabins. We could have done without the brushfire. Also, we froze at night for the first 2 nights before being told that what we thought was only air conditioning was also heating units. Tell folks when they get in!

Janet (4/5): Camping, not glamping. - Beautiful place in the bush. Pretty place to have dinner. I am not a camper, and thought a glamping tent would be more civilised and less rustic (as per a previous experience glamping). But it was really just a tent with a bed. Holes in the canvas, hadn't been dusted for a long time, no heating, not enough blankets to keep warm, no table to sit at inside the tent. Showers and toilets out in the open - freezing (and cobwebs, spiders etc to contend with). If you're a camper, you'd probably love it! Don't let me put you off. And maybe in milder weather would've been more pleasant, but we were there in the dead of winter.

Anne (9/5): Superb experience not to be missed - Loved the experience of staying on an Outback Station. We had a lovely authentic Timber cabin up the track past a couple of brumbies in the bushes- very comfy bed and bathroom with a huge corner bath . Behind the cabin was a rocky red escarpment which my husband and young Jack Russell climbed .The meals both nights were tasty and home cooked with a glass of wine from the bar . Drive or walk up to the back hill of the Station for the vast stunning view across the MacDonnell Ranges - not to be missed .A beautiful outdo pool for the warmer days was beautifully done - Thank you Nicky and family for creating this little bit of paradise-the trees and shrubs were bountiful due to so much much rain.

Drusila (10/5): Happy Days - We definitely enjoyed our stay, highly recommended. The cabins blow my mind, I was surprised that such beauty is less than an hour from Alice. The firewoods situation wasn't my favourite, would be nice if it was provided.
Lisa (10/5): Girls Trip - Loved our stay 🤗 - The team at Ooramina Homestead made us feel so welcome. The accommodation is lovely and the food is delicious, as are the views from the lookout. Scruffy the pup accompanied us on our walk to the lookout and some horses, cattle and a very pregnant goaty weren't too shy either. Thank you so very much for your efforts, they were appreciated.

Tami (9/5): Fantastic spot with beautiful rustic cabins. - We were upgraded from the glamping tents to the cabins. The cabins were amazing. so we’ll done with a great bathroom and a verandah to sit on. The directions were good and we found where the place no issues. It was a quick drive out from Alice. Dinner and drinks at the homestead were also fantastic. I’ve already recommended to family and friends. nothing

Danielle (7/5): Loved the experience overall but be prepared for a very rustic stay, and I would recommend Winter months only for the lo - The log cabin was beautifully decorated, the pool is gorgeous and the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. The log cabin (we found out after sleeping in it two nights) was originally built as a movie set and not to inhabit. There are gaps in the timbers, small holes in the tin roof, no insulation, no fly screens, no heating/cooling, and not enough mosquito nets for each of the beds. It is basically glamping except you can’t keep the bugs out.

Kobie (6/5): Pleasant - Beautiful location and authentic styled cabins. Poor booking management and just disappointing. On arrival our booked cabin airconditioning was broken. We were told we are getting an "upgrade" to better cabin. The "upgrade" was lower in price when I made the booking I could see the prices of cabins and only had one double bed. I was being given a "downgrade" from a cabin with 4 beds to one with a double shared bed. I was not travelling as a couple and to be assumed a shared double bed would be okay was offensive. Because I was aware of the available options whilst booking I knew this upgrade was lower in price and asked to have my booked preference I paid for. Airconditioned or not I did not book a not share a bed. No refund in the price difference was offered. Then I was told to have a drink at the bar and wait 15minutes. Turned out to be a 45minute wait and what should have been a complementary drink from the bar was a highly priced one whilst waiting for the staff to correct the booking mistake, also the staff mentioned they were not ready for us when the booking was made 14 days in advance. The prices are high, so make sure you get what you paid for. It was meant to be a super treat but it is not worth arriving at a venue being tired from a drive to be confronted by staff that is not prepared and excuses. When we settled to go to the pool there was a group of 10 playing music from a boom box till late at night. I would expect to have better management at this price, asking for the volume to be turned down on a property like this when guest want to be in nature and experience the outback in quiet. Which we could have had the experience we wanted and paid for.

The property is stunning, the owners are warm and hospitable, the food is delicious and the cabin had a comfortable bed, air conditioning and all the amenities you could need! Couldn’t recommend the station enough for an authentic outback station experience with the comforts and thoughtful touches. We will return again one day!

Anonymous (10/5): if you want the outback, Oorominna is a full sensory experience - loved the landscape setting, the animals, the accommodations. it was the Outback experience I was looking for. friendly and sincere staff along with the gourmet food were outstanding. it felt like home. I could definitely have spent 5 days here. because of the meandering property, you need a car to explore if you’re trying to see as much of it as possible in a single day.

Gina (10/5): This property is a must visit! Everyone was so lovely and the chef was 5 star delicious! - The stone cottage was just gorgeous! You felt like you went back in time! The view and surroundings were just stunning! There is a fabulous pool and they have a chef that will cook you a 5 star incredibly delicious meal! We waited for the cattle to come down the road when we were heading to our cottage with their babies following along behind and Tripod, the three legged goat hangs out with you at the homestead while you have a sunset beer. We had to leave very early in the morning but the owners met us at 5am and made coffees for our road trip. Can't recommend this place enough! Everything was amazing!

Paul (1/5): not recommend - pool under construction looks good not as advertised. stone cottage very basic - could see daylight through door. looks very run down. Chef away for week when we arrived. Long dirt road to get there not suitable for standard car. We ended up going back to Alice Springs and booking another hotel which we have never done before not sure how ratings so high!
Phoebe (10/5): A special experience - This is a mini homestead tucked away in some low wooded hills. It’s a lovely place, with cabins and tents and a central building for meals. The buildings and tents are pretty basic, but the atmosphere is great due to the nature and farm animals and the nice family that runs the place. They’ve teamed up with David Ireland, who will give you a fine nature and survival tour if you like. The meals are tasty. It was all good.
