Guest Reviews
- Christy (10/5): - Great lil place to stay near the airport!!! Everything was very clean, well kept and designed nicely. I especially like the shower- excellent water pressure!
- Karina (10/5): - Beautifully clean, modern, quiet setting and very lovely overall.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is exceptionally clean & the kitchen facilities are recommended. The bed is comfortable. The room is small & the furnishings sparse but adequate. What is not recommended is that the property is run a bit on the cheap. Because of the limited number of units, there is no reception. So there is no guidance on what to do in Iceland. Also, the security system is challenging. The front door does not open easily & you must remember your security code to the front door & your room. It's a nightmare when you take a shower & find yourself locked out of your room, coz you forgot your code. (The bathrooms are separate from your room). The bathrooms have no windows, but lack extruder facilities. As a result they smell, even though the bathroom is kept spotlessly clean.
- Mariya (10/5): Highly recommended - Very clean and modern guesthouse with super accommodating owners, who go above and beyond to make sure their guests are happy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location for visitors needing to go to the airport. Location is out in a small rural area but there is a nice supermarket within walking distance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice big spacious rooms with wall to wall windows (at least in our room!). Access to a fridge, cookware, and all day coffee drinks were also a plus. My 5 year old was disappointing that there was not a TV but somehow he survived by watching cat videos on my phone (free WiFi :))
- Verified traveler (10/5): - No staff, everything was set and ready for my stay.
- Kim (10/5): Little Gem right by Airport - Graystone is this futuristic little gem only 10 minutes from the Airport. I was given a code to enter the building and my room, no old keys to fumble with - I never saw staff, but I didn't need to. Everything was perfect, my room was perfectly clean and tidy and brand new. Lights were on motion sensors in the bathrooms, that were also new and clean. Overall very sleek and great location - would stay there again in a heartbeat.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A wonderfully clean and quiet place with the nicest coffee automated machine I've ever seen, and they even had good herbal teas. So you know, even though this is in a close location to KEF airport, this still means nearly a two hour walk along uninviting roads, or a 30-40 euro cab ride.
- Alvin (10/5): - NICE guest house with nice location to airport and very friendly owner.
- Troy (10/5): - Wonderful experience at the Graystone. Strategically located very close to the airport (although you will need a car rental as taxi prices to the hotel are crazy expensive). It was a very comfortable and efficient hotel. Has all the amenities you will need...nothing really fancy but all that you will need for your stay.
There is a great, little grocery store within walking distance of the hotel.
Most importantly - may stay was memorable because of the kindness and service of the property owner Villa. She is fantastic and so very helpful.
I will definately return to this property.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very clean. Modern style. Comfortable room for 2.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect stay at Graystone. Easy check in with a code, very clean room and comfortable amenities. It was perfect for a quick airport layover
- Gene (10/5): - The room is clean. We arrived late past midnight and left early from the guesthouse and didn’t get chance to take advantage of its amenities— washer and dryer, coffee and tea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It is realy clean and comfortable. I recommend it.
- Lee (8/5): good stay but can be better - staying in room 7 which is near the door entrance. The door entrance noise is too loud when travelers check in and out.
- Graham (8/5): Clean & comfortable for what you are but isolated - Yet another Icelandic where there is no staff on site and all communication is by email and phone. Nevertheless clean, comfortable and not too far from Keflavik airport.
Unfortunately the town has no restaurant meaning a drive to Keflavik if you want to eat out (not very convenient for breakfast)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and comfortable room at guesthouse.. Excellent location.
- Patricia (10/5): Excellent Stay - Graystone Guesthouse was a surprising delight. We only stayed the night before an early flight, but would stay here again as a base for the Reykjavik area. Unmanned, but excellent communication via email. Spacious, modern, comfortable room. Loved the full, shared kitchen.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - A decent room with nothing to do. There was nothing in the town, and there was no TV in the room. The location was good for a morning flight out of Keflavik.
- Terry (10/5): - We had the room with a private bathroom. Everything was in excellent condition. We were very pleased with the cleanliness and modern look of the room. We had access to the kitchen with all the appliances available for use. We would highly recommend this room at this property.
- Kris (10/5): - Nice facility, room clean and comfortable. Very nice shower. Was reasonably quiet while we were there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Extremely clean no frills hotel. Room was exactly as pictured. Coffee machine in the kitchen was awesome.
- ben (10/5): Nice play to stay. - Nice place to stay very mordern
Bathroom facilities were very nice, clean. Friendly staff
- Leandro (10/5): - Excelent place and quite good value for money. Spotless clean and even though bathrooms are shared they are plenty for the number of rooms, so not a problem. There's a nice kitchen with free coffee too and the owner emails instructions and tips before arrival.
- Alejandro (10/5): Nice, friendly, and convenient. - Erik Rail, the manager, is the best. I made a mistake with my reservation and he kindly helped me to fix it. He also gave me some tips to share a taxi to the airport and save some money.
The place is super clean and quiet. I will definitely go back again.
- Sean (8/5): Very good, basic accommodations. Near airport!!! - Erik was great! Helped with early check in and very responsive. The property is very clean! The only negatives are that it is sunny all the time right now and hard to sleep—the blinds didn’t block out all of the sunlight. The hallways are very noisy too. You can hear people talking and shutting doors at all hours of the night. The door codes seemed to follow a pattern (had two rooms). Im hoping that’s not the case though... someone could easily figure out the code for another persons room. I did have someone trying to get in my room at 2am one morning, but I had the deadbolt locked and I called out to them after their third attempt. I think they were just trying the wrong room. The area is very minimal. No stores, etc. only one or two restaurants within a 10 minute drive that we could find. But the property is very nice and well kept. Multiple showers and bathrooms available. Would definitely stay here again.
- sin (10/5): - Fast and comfortable way to stay in iceland. Everything was clean and accessible
- Jessica (10/5): Excellent - Even though we only stayed here overnight, our stay was wonderful. We were able to book the room, that has the bathroom inside the room. I did notice that the other rooms they have share bathrooms. We were really comfortable. They offer free parking with was a plus! This location does not have a front desk, you go ahead and get all instructions before arriving. We did not have a problem, the instructions were clear.
They do have a kitchen (which you share with other guest), well supplied, with pans, cups, plates, silverware etc. They offer free coffee and tea, and let me tell you, I fell in love with that machine! Great coffee.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Too bad Iceland has poor public transport. This isn't far from airport but challenging to reach and isolated location.
- karen (10/5): Incredible stay!! - Beautiful new guesthouse close to Keflavic airport. This little hotel is perfection - only 7 rooms. Immaculately clean. So peaceful and quiet. Close to great outdoor swimming pool and Keflavic airport! Amazing showers, great beds, great communication with owner who was always asking if they could do anything to make stay more comfortable. I never wanted to leave and cant wait to return.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really great place, wonderful having a kitchen available. Very clean and well maintained, highly recommend it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hotel, well located - Very well maintained, new condition, very clean and midern style. Absolutely recommandable.
- Kasey (10/5): Perfect Guest House for our needs. - Great location near Keflevik Airport. Very clean and well maintained. Great little kitchen. Wonderful shower. Comforrable bed. Only drawback was the room we had which was right by the front door. Blinds had to be closed for any privacy and door slammed loudly.
- TravelllingChi (10/5): Absolutely beautiful place. - I personally cannot find any reason why this place isn't a permanent 5 stars out of 5. I stayed here for two nights earlier this week and it was more than all I could ask for.....and it's got complimentary teas and coffee...a nice airy, well appointed kitchen.
Yes, I didn't meet any staff, but frankly, you don't need to meet them. You've got codes to get into your room and the building itself and they are an email away, if you needed anything. I didn't.
There's parking and WiFi, too!
It had the beautiful IKEA look to it. Book it now and thank me later.....seriously!
One drawback though....it's located barely 10 minutes from Keflavik Airport...and looks like a place that might better suite you if you have a car. It's in a residential area and I guess there might be a city bus, but I didn't see any....I was out exploring Iceland!
- Clint (10/5): Excellent Guesthouse - A wonderful quiet place to stay in small fishing village close to Keflavik airport, the Blue Lagoon, and there are some other spots on the Reykjanes Peninsula worth checking out that have far less tourists to contend with than The Golden Circle. There are 7 private rooms here with 2 shared bathrooms and 2 shower rooms - 4 rooms total - each with a sink and a mirror. Each private room also has a sink and mirror, as well as a desk and closet. Check in is all done through email where you are given a code for the front door and your room door prior to your stay, so don’t forget to check your email. It’s been my experience that if you have any further questions or requests that management responds to emails very promptly and Erik was most accommodating! Housekeeping comes every afternoon. The facilities here are very clean and modern. Floors are heated and beds are comfortable. You also have access to a full kitchen with a premium coffee maker and a large selection of organic teas available 24/7. It would be nice to see some bins for recyclable items, but all in all I really enjoyed my stay at Graystone. Highly recommended.
- Shereen (10/5): Cheap guesthouse near airport - Very clean guesthouse with nice accommodations. The location was good as it is very close to the airport and the price was great.
- Justin (10/5): Immaculate Hotel - Erik is a great host and super quick at responding. The hotel is immaculately clean and brand new. The furnishings and decor is really nice. It is very convenient because of the self check in. The close proximity to the airport is fantastic, yet it is in a very sleepy town at the end of a quiet street.
Highly recommend.
- Tamara (8/5): Very nice - The guesthouse room and facilities were very nice. Only downfall was that the two restaurants in town were closed.
- Christian (10/5): Great service! - The staff here was so helpful! Thank you!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Like Staying In The Future - There's almost no reason to stay in Sandgerði but if you find yourself needing to, there almost no reason not to stay at this Graystone Guesthouse. There's no one to greet you or give you a key card so it doesn;t matter when you show up. It's very small so there's no reason to be worried about the shared bathroom or kitchen spaces. It's all well taken care of even though you'll never see anyone doing it. It's really as if you have finally found the all automated hotel in a remote forgotten piece of Iceland.
- Jessica (10/5): - So clean and fresh, extremly nice! Espresso machine, nice teas available in the kitchen. The shower felt like I was at a spa! Extremely close to the airport, making early flights easy to get to.
- Bjarni (10/5): Very good hotel - Extremely good place, well kept and clean. Very good option for those catching an early flight and have a car rental, but also for those exploring the area.
- Felicia (10/5): Very good stay. Clean & Loved self-service system - It was great stay. Great service. Self check-in allowed very late check-in and very early check out which I really needed. Service was great sending me password beforehand and also providing self service for simple breakfast, coffee etc. Shared bathrooms but there were many and just near room. Very Good.
- George (10/5): An excellent guesthouse and a fantastic host - Excellent guesthouse, newly decorated and is neater than many of the 5-star hotels. Mr. Erik, the host, is an extremely helpful person. He provided local information that enabled me to save cost during my visit. In fact, he was an excellent host and I highly recommend the guesthouse.
- ruthie (10/5): Modern guesthouse close to the airport - My 66 year old mother and I did a 7 day ring road trip in a small camper van. This guest house was heaven when we arrived. Very modern. Free coffee and food in the fridge. Nice hot showers and quiet neighborhood. Highly recommend!
- Taylor (8/5): Nice property, nothing around - My friend and I stayed here for one night before an early flight out of KEF. The property is well-labeled and easy to find. No reception, but an access code was emailed to me prior to arrival. The property is immaculate with clean rooms, bathrooms, and showers. The hallway is tiled though and any voices in the corridor are LOUD. Although the price wad excellent, a taxi is still around $40 to the airport, and with no staff you have to arrange pickup yourself. Our room was comfortable, with two beds. A desk, two small closets and a sink. Separate bathroom and shower rooms were directly across the hall and a kitchen a few doors down. The windows open and there is a radiator to control temp. The town of Sandgerdi is TINY, but there is a grocery store about 300m away. I'd stay here again, but only if I had a rental car. The town is probably 15-20 minutes to the Blue Lagoon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean, modern, minimalist - Great value, clean place, all modern, no frills. Closeto KEF airport. No need to interact with staff, all electronic locking doors allows for instant check in at any time of night.
Staff communicated all pertinent info prior and was quick and helpful with any additional questions by email.
Bed mattress could be more comfortable and sound-proofing could be a little better.
Otherwise everything was perfect.
- Tessie (10/5): Close to the airport - We book the king room w private bath. Very clean and roomy.
- Ben (10/5): Enjoyed our stay for a short night stay - The facility was clean and we'll organized. It's great that you can enter the guesthouse and room without a key. They had an assortment of coffee and tea in the kitchen and the kitchen and bathrooms were very well maintained. The only inconvenience was the location. It was only about a 15-20 minute ride from the airport but it cost about 54 Canadian dollars. Factor that into your cost. Other than that, loved everything else about it.
