• Sean Patrick (8/5): - If your traveling on your own and on a budget its a great place to stay the room was clean and the hotel is 15 minutes walk away from minami senju train station and the bus stop is not far away 30 minutes walk to Asakusa. The showers could use a face lift but overall the kangaroo hotel was a good experience. Clean bed and very affordable.

• Tanisha (8/5): - the price point for this hotel was great, you could walk to Senso-ji within 20 - 25 minutes, the room itself is simple but fine, has everything you need, the bed is ok for a few nights I wouldn't recommend for a longer stay. The bathrooms definitely need a proper clean or renovation, it is an odd setup with toilets on floor 1 and 2 and the showers only on the ground floor. All in all for a short stay it didn't matter to much, but this is a simple stay and you get what you pay for.

• benjamin (4/5): You get what you pay for - The rooms are cramped. Feels like a prison cell by the 3rd night. Beds are very uncomfortable. Pillows are flat. But the hardest part was having to go up a floor to reach a toilet. Definitely not enjoyable in the middle of the night. Hotel staff was great. Location was excellent, near bus and train stops. Amazing price. But we struggled staying there for 5 nights.

• Kellie (10/5): Great Stay - Great hotel for two travelers who want to experience a Japanese hotel. I felt very safe traveling alone with my son. I felt very safe with restrooms down the hall and showers on the first floor. We brought a charger with multiple ports as there was only one outlet. The bus stop is a few easy blocks away.

• April (2/5): - The most disgusting “hotel” I have ever seen. I had body fluid stains on my bed sheets when I checked in and was handed linen to change the sheets MYSELF when I asked for the linen to be replaced. The bathrooms were unsafe due to excessive black mould, it’s absolutely disgusting the state of them. No signs of cleaning in the 5 nights I had to endure in that dirty place. The staff were never helpful or denied being staff even though I saw them come out of the staff room when I had enquiries. Do not stay there.

• ICHING (8/5): 市區內可接受的便宜住宿(青年旅館) - 位於市區的青年旅館,有先看之前的評論,留意到16:00過了CHECK-IN時間才會有人,所以安排在16:00過後抵達,沒有什麼問題! 房間屬於狹長型,空間不太大,但簡單入住一晚,還可以~ 公用廁所/沖澡地方還算方便,淋浴間有3間,整體評估起來還可以接受! 要求不太大的話,覺得可以參考!

• Vergel (8/5): - Really only good if you are staying for a few days, but price is very good. The bed is only just two cushions that look like they can fall at any time. No elevator either and rather than each floor having a shower, its only located on the first floor so going up and down can be a little tiring. The location is perfect though with it being not too far from the sky tree and Minami-Senju station. Overall not worth the stay unless you are there for few days or on a very strict budget

• Dylan (6/5): - I stayed here for 11 days. Since It was an emergency, I had no other choice. First week was okay, I think I had quite the enjoyable stay, with the exception of the bathroom and the shower. Shower is extremely dirty, and honestly you should get your own bath towel since they charge for it. You should be well prepared and have your own stuff ready unless you wanna pay for it. This is also, the worst place to get sick, especially in the winter. Have an extra set of clothes ready, and a blanket. Other than that, I think you should be fine. Oh, but if you're carrying a heavy and/or big luggage, They only have stairs here, and it's pretty narrow to climb up with it, so be very careful. I think this place otherwise, is a very good place to stay for a short period of time, like 3 to 5 days. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, with the exception of the bathroom being shared, and the shower as well.

• Noboru (4/5): - 簡易宿泊所の感覚で、外国人のバックパッカーの方が利用される分には問題ないと思います。ただし、一般のビジネスホテル感覚ですと、不十分かもしれません。 たとえばスリッパが足りない、夜9時以降はスタッフの方がいないなど。ベットも狭く、ベットの上に敷いているマットレスがズレて、夜中に床に落ちそうになる、部屋の鍵が(壊れている？)なかなか回らないなど。長年、大阪の西成を経験している筆者が困りました。

The slippers that your supposed to use are at least 5 numbers to small. I was cleaned every day feom what I could see Laundry works, just the dryer takes at least 3 hours for a half full load to finish It is quite at night.

Barre en métal sortant de la tête de lit ?? Pourquoi faire ?? Bref à éviter.

• Chunlan (4/5): - The location is okay, close to the skytree Tokyo... however the hotel stairs is very narrow and no elevator and the room is tiny and no room for luggage even in the room, my backpack has to stay on bed. The staff was nice to allow us to leave the luggage there before the check in hour. The bed is uncomfortable, the whole floor is sharing one bathroom area. we booked 2 nights however I had to change to another place and simply forgot about the money I paid for the 2nd night. I didn't feel like wanting to shower after a hot humid sweaty day in the Tokyo summer...There's a tin box in the room will a long rope that can be used for one to escape from window in case of fire. It might be a good thing however looks pretty scary though. I feel like maybe need to act 007 one night. Don't feel safe due to the super narrow stairs. Would not recommend it unless you really want to save money. I would not stay there again for sure no matter what.

• Christina (6/5): - We stayed in the original Kangaroo. The aesthetics were cool and the price was dirt cheap but you get what you pay for. The showers were mouldy and sheets had stains. We opted for the bunkbed and were cramped. Most of the dining/lounge areas were sectioned off for some reason, which meant we huddled on our bed to eat any food we brought in. Combined with being a 15min walk from the closest subway station, it quickly became an unpleasant place to stay.
• MATTHEW (6/5): - Area is nice and quiet, and there are convenience stores nearby and even a small Yakiniku place a short walk away. Biggest issue I had was the showers, which were poorly ventilated and had visible mold/mildew and damaged fixtures. Overall, a decent stay for the price, though the poorly maintained showers would make me hesitate to return, even with the lower prices.

• BAI WOON (2/5): - 그동안 10번을 넘는 해외여행을 나녔고 리뷰는 한번도 안 달았지만 여기는 정말 안 달수가 없다. 아무리 싼맛에 가성비로 사용하는 곳이라지만 여기는 완전히 불법증축 건물에 관리도 엉망이다. 차라리 제대로 관리되는 캡슐호텔이 더 나을것이다.

• Natasha (6/5): - This is great if you’re on a budget and are okay with things being a bit uncomfortable. The area is okay, there’s two convenience stores not far from here, but the selection is a bit limited compared to other parts of Tokyo. The distance from Minami Senju station is about 900m. The general area is about a 2.5km walk to any close by landmarks, but it’s not a bad spot if you want to visit Asakusa or Akihabara. The main issues for me have been safety and cleanliness. There were people rattling on my door handle late at night and I kept my door slightly ajar at one point to grab a cup ramen and a man rattled on the door next to me then saw my door was ajar and opened it. The smile on his face as he said “oops” told me he was up to no good. This is not the fault of the staff, but like a previous reviewer said, keep your door locked even if you’re going out to the toilet. You can also hear people very clearly in the hallway at night, which is fine as long as people aren’t chatting out there at 5am in the morning. The other issue wasn’t so much with the room, but the bathroom. It wasn’t dirty, but there was a lot of mould and you have to hold down a button to use the water or it will keep stopping. I would recommend finding a bathhouse. The staff when they checked us in were great, but are only present at the desk during check-in between 4pm to 10pm I believe. I would recommend staying somewhere else if you’re travelling alone as a female.
• Verified traveler (4/5): 3 night stay - The stuff at the front desk only there while it's the check-in time, which mean you will not get any service before 1400. When the staff is there, their attitude is non-passionate at best. The shower room have mold and rust stain, which is not ideal! The A wing have no staffs look after the unlock front door most of the day. Lastly the filter of the air-conditioning NEED cleaning, I'm forced to open the window because of the smell!

• Verified traveler (2/5): 男子学生の一人暮らし的なホテルでした - キャンセルし忘れて、もったいないので宿泊しようと部屋に入りました。 入ってすぐに2段ベッドがあり、目の前のマットレスをみたらシーツに陰毛が何本か。清掃されていない？ お安いところなので、通常のホテルと同じものを求めるのは間違っているのは分かっています。 ベッドでPC作業できれば良いと思いましたが、むりでした。 工事中だったのか、入り口も写真にあるようなおしゃれな感じではなく、踵を踏み潰したスニーカーが何足も散らかりっぱなしでした。 部屋の扉を閉めて、即、ホテルを取り直しました。

• Hélène (6/5): - The room is small yet practical. The facilities are numerous, which is convenient. Yet there is some noise with the other tenants that do not always respect the rest and sleep of others: loud talking in the early morning or doing the laundry after 11pm when it is not allowed. There should be stricter rules or should insist on tenants respecting them.

• Gene (2/5): - To start of with the good, I think that the staff that we met were helpful despite their lack of English communication skills. However, for the amount that we paid for this "hotel", it was definitely a huge rip off. To start off, the thumbnail is misleading/non-existent at this point. The lobby area is blocked off and guests cannot use this area. Secondly, the rooms are really small, and arguably worse than even some capsule hotels despite the price they charge; we booked for a room meant for three, but the room was so narrow that luggage cannot be opened, the walkway becomes blocked and it feels unfair that they charge a room for three people for a room that clearly is meant to fit one person as a capsule room. This is even made more evident in that the room only has a single electric outlet for guests to use. Internet is also unreliable, and the description forgets to mention that washrooms are communal and is never mentioned on their expedia posting. They also did not mention that their laundry amenities is not free. Finally, some of their amenities do not work. For example our refrigerator was not working, as well as our thermostat. TLDR - Room is overpriced, description of their property is misleading, and property is rundown and amenities damaged.
• Jane (6/5): - Because there’s a gap between the door and the ceiling, you can hear everyone else on the floor very loudly. The showers are filthy, and the hallway in the room chambers also smell. My room also smelled like BO, so I’m wondering how often the rooms are cleaned throughly. The AC also smelled really bad and hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. The women’s bathroom was also closed on my floor so I had to go to the bottom floor everytime I wanted to use it. They did have a trash can and recycling bins, as well as a microwave on every floor which was nice. My room did have a small trash can, foldable table and hair dryer, but the refrigerator was very weak and barely worked at all. There was also a very small TV in my room which worked. It was very cheap but the same as the other hotels in the area so next time I’d rather stay in one of those.

• Verified traveler (2/5): とても不便 - 布団が臭いです。フロントが9:30から22:00までと書いていますが、全然人がいなくて電話も繋がらなかったです。不便極まりない。 そしてなんでなのかわかりませんが、私が泊まった時に女子トイレに鍵がかかって使えなかったです。トイレ探しに夜中の1時に20分も歩かされました。最悪でした。
• MASUMI (10/5): - カンガルーホテルに泊まりました！ 安くて、綺麗、無駄がないイメージでした。 全てがコンパクトで、ゆとりの空間はないのですが、使いやすく快適でした。 部屋に上がるのにエレベーターはなかったので、足の悪い方には、大変かもしれませんが、目的があって安く泊まりたい方には、とても良いホテルです。 ホテル周辺環境は、日雇い労働者が、道に時々いるような所なので、広い道路を通ってホテルに来た方が良いと思いました。

• Colette (8/5): Fik service og beliggenhed - Vores lille værelse var rent og pænt, men der lugtede af cigaretrøg. Vi sagde det til personalet, ikke fordi vi ville forlange et andet, men for at gøre dem opmærksom på det, da det var et non-smoking værelse. Da vi kom tilbage efter en gåtur, så havde de hængt en duftspray på vores dør med en seddel om at de undskyldte mange gange for lugten, men håbede at sprayen ville tage noget af den. Internettet fungerede ikke så godt på vores værelse (2. sal), men var fint nede i lobbyen. Derudover er det nemt at komme til centrum herfra.
• SEOKJIN (10/5): 싸고 좋았습니다 - 미나미센주, 아사쿠사랑 가까워서 좋았습니다. 가격도 싸고 좋았고 1층로비에서 간단하게 식사도 할 수 있어서 좋았어요. 다만 방음이 잘 안되므로 연인과 함께 가기는 별로일 것 같아요. 나리타에서 올때 NEX는 절대 타지말고 다른거타서 아사쿠사에서 걸어가는것을 추천합니다.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - The bed was nice and soft, super comfy! The rooms could use a bit more in terms of decor, currently you pretty much only have concrete walls surrounding you with couple of bolts added as coat hooks. Sadly the noise isolation in the rooms is on the bad side, and you can hear the discussions happening in the hall and neighboring rooms. The younger cleaning staff were nice and cheerful, but the front desk experience left a lot to be desired. If you check-in after 21.00, you will have an envelope taped to the front door of the establishment (which is also locked) on how to find your keys, there’s absolutely no staff staying at the hotels after that, so they’re not there to enforce the rules of silence, or help you out with any problems you may encounter. Also worth mentioning is that Kangaroo hotel “Side A” is completely unmanned, the reception and everything is over on side B The area is ok, but there are options available in the same area that are closer to the station, it takes about 15-20min walk from Minami-Senju station to the hotel. Overall enjoyable experience, but I do hope they would have someone on site to maintain silence and keep the check-in open
• Tommy (6/5): You get what you play for. - Stayed as a couple — wouldn’t recommend it for pairs; the rooms are just too small to unpack your luggage for stuff, and to sleep on the futon. We had the private twin room. Also, the bedding still had hair strands from the previous guest. Room noise is quite good, in that others inside their rooms won’t hear you if it’s within 40 dB, but outside in the lobby, everything can be heard. The lobby is a massive echo chamber, just saying. Wifi for 2nd floor was shut down at 1am for some odd reason, then came back online in the morning. Location isn’t the greatest for touring, and food. You also have to trek a long flight of upstairs everything time you need to get to the nearest station. Front guest and interaction with staff was great! Phenomenal customer service. It’s a shame that a hotel with great service is crippled by its location and physical dimensions. We recommend this hotel for solo budget travellers. Couples and pairs — please move on.
• ANNABELL (8/5): Tiny room with no private bathroom but super cheap - Checking in and out was relatively easy. I did not know that this was a hostel type of hotel but with individual rooms. If I were by myself, no problem, but I was with my mom who was uncomfortable. It's cheap though and that's the bonus as I had more funds to spend on delicious food.It's an 11 minute walk to a train station, or just 30 minutes to Asakura station. There are several restaurants nearby, some that speak Japanese only but download google translate and make sure you have cash. Cash in Japan is uber important. There's a grocery store 2 minute walk, on the main street. There's corner stores and 711 is nearby as well. Not a bad place if you're looking for a very cheap place to spend the night and don't mind tiny cramped rooms to save money. Also, if you don't mind walking.

• Heri (10/5): - The hotel is good quite place to stay in. The room that we stayed in was small for two people. If you are going to be traveling and sightseeing the whole trip, this is the spot for you. You're just going to arrive take a quick shower/bath ( which are in the first floor) and hit the bet. This is the best for you.
• Sue (10/5): Great hotel with private room - The private room was really good. It came with a tv, enough hangers, a fridge, hairdryer. The aircon was working very well. The soundproofing was pretty good, as long as there are no exceptionally noisy neighbours. The only thing would be that there are only 3 bathing units; I did not run into a situation where I could not bathe, but I would assume that it might happen when the hotel is full. There's also no lift and the staircase might be abit narrow especially when carrying luggage. The place was generally very clean. Overall, the facilities were pretty good and I was very impressed by how the private room was well-furnished.
• Ron (8/5): Affordable Budget Stay - If you want a private room in a place like Tokyo, this is a great place to go to. No frills, in walking distance of a JR station, supplies the necessary basics. Futon matrasses in this hotel seem a bit thinner than others, that might be a bit uncomfortable if you're not used to it. But its managable for a few nights.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Upscale Hostel - This place is basically an upscale hostel. Good prices, but if you want the luxuries of a hotel room, search elsewhere. Beware, they only supply you with a small towel. So if you use a full size towel, you better bring one yourself.
