Hemal (10/5): Best hotel in Colombo - I recently stayed at Shangri-La Colombo on the 30th for one night, and it was truly an outstanding experience from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, “Samdura” at the front desk welcomed us warmly and handled our check-in process professionally and efficiently. Her friendly attitude and excellent hospitality immediately gave us a wonderful first impression of the hotel. Later that evening, my friend and I visited Capital Bar & Grill. The atmosphere was fantastic, with a lively ambiance and an amazing live band that made the night even more enjoyable. We had a few drinks, and the service we received was exceptional. “Dilshan,” the bartender, provided excellent service and made sure we had a great experience throughout the evening. “Nipuna” was also top-notch in customer service, being attentive, professional, and extremely welcoming. The hotel rooms were very quiet, comfortable, and beautifully maintained, making our stay relaxing and peaceful. The pool area was spotless and offered stunning views, which added to the luxury experience. The food was also absolutely delicious, with every dish being full of flavor and well prepared. Overall, our stay at Shangri-La Colombo exceeded expectations. The excellent hospitality, beautiful facilities, delicious food, and outstanding staff made this a memorable visit. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Colombo and look forward to returning again in the future.

Zulaikha (9/5): Shangri La Colombo - always delivers, personal touches and special requirements are met with a smile - the selection provided at the Horizon Club was more than enough and I used their service more than the main buffet, which I visited once and as always it was exceptional, varied choice to suit all needs. Thank you to the wonderful team at the Club, so very helpful and attentive.

Serhii (7/5): For this service is too expensive - Service is ok Chinese restaurant is VERY BED ,pecking duck cost around 250 Euros,but was terrible,we leaved all . Everything that was prepared in the Chinese restaurant was simply awful. The same applies to the dinner at the main restaurant. The breakfasts were fine. I would not recommend ordering food in their restaurants.

Nicola (10/5): Excellent hotel in Colombo - The room was stunning and the hotel in general was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful. It links to the shopping mall which is helpful. So many lights in the room and I couldn't find a way to turn them all off! Also, I was charged £50 more than the quote price which was initially quoted on booking.com at £154. I contacted the hotel and did not receive an explanation as to why it was significantly higher.

Senani (9/5): It was truly an excellent stay overall, despite some disappointment with the food options - Hospitality and scenic beauty were truly exceptional. The cleanliness and supply of amenities were also impeccable. The experience was elevated by the outstanding hospitality, particularly from Sachith and Tharindi on the 32nd floor. The breakfast buffet didn’t quite live up to expectations this time. Additionally, the high tea and happy hour at the lounge had very limited options. Considering it’s a five-star property, I felt it could have been much better, especially compared to my recent stay at Hilton Colombo and my past experiences here.

The staff popped birthday bunting and balloons in the room for me and left a lovely birthday cake and message. The food was very yummy at the buffet restaurant and we enjoyed cocktails in the bar on the ground floor. Great for a stop over after the long flight

Kethees (10/5): Short stay but comfortable - The view and easy access from Colombo and other cities Small disappointment that i have requested for wedding decorations and hotel has confirmed that they will provide complimentary towel arts and rose petals and balloons plus the amenities but when i arrived with my wife after wedding the room was empty however they place the cake and i thank for that but its was a disappointment that when my wife and her family saw that nothing was arranged Later i call the team to explain the situation and they quickly send the team to arrange. Other than that the stay was good and room is very clean and comfortable and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Our room wasn’t clean when we arrived the toilet was dirty and I had to call them to clean it. I think that probably put me off the hotel after seeing that as I just felt a bit funny. I don’t think I would stay here again. The one good thing was we did eat at central for dinner and food and service was very good…

What made the lunch truly special was the thoughtful surprise for my special day, a lovely birthday cake was presented and it was both beautiful and delicious , it really added a personal touch and made the celebration even more memorable. The variety and standard was fantastic, a special mention to the amazing chef that personally took the time to show us how to pair traditional Sri Lankan dishes

Wij hadden ons verblijf niet gepland maar doordat onze aanvankelijke vlucht was gecancelled door de situatie in het Midden-Oosten moesten we onverwacht ons verblijf in Colombo verlengen. We hadden dit hotel gekozen omdat er een kids club dichtbij was (in de mall ernaast) zodat we konden werken Het personeel was erg vriendelijk en meedenkend en voor ons was het ideaal dat de mall er direct naast zat Onze hotelkamer was erg ruim en comfortabel, er waren genoeg eetgelegenheden in en om het hotel en om ook was aan alles gedacht om vanuit het hotel te kunnen werken (je kon bijvoorbeeld kleine ruimtes of meeting rooms boeken) Nvt

Sherpa812033 (10/5): Can't beat this breakfast!! - Excellent hotel. The room was great and the reception we were given was so friendly. I'd like to mention Nikeeta in particular. We did eat in the brasserie on our second visit of the holiday. I have to say, we did feel a little pressured to eat here as we only wanted a look inside initially, but we soon found ourselves ushered to a table and had a menu presented to us. We didn't realise there was quite a large drink option as we were only given a 'tablet' with the wine list. I ordered a wine that I didn't particulary enjoy, no want but did so due to the lack of given options. However, the food was very nice and we both enjoyed the meal. The pool area is excellent and the staff there were so efficient and friendly - we enjoyed our time round the pool and at the pool bar. The club sandwich was very good and more than enough to share as a light meal. The highlight was the absolutely amazing breakfast. We have been lucky to have tried some wonderful breakfast hotels, but this was my outstanding favourite for choice. There was something for everyone from a pizza station and sandwich station, to the Dosa counter and the Hopper counter with everything possible, in between. Special shout out too to the gentleman with the fresh king coconut stall. All the dining room staff were very friendly and were happy to chat. Thank you to all who made it a very memorable stay.

PatrickLongBeach (10/5): An Amaziing Place to Stay - Truly a 5-Star experience - This hotel is fantastic and highly recommended. I have stayed at a number of Shangri -la hotels and they are amazing. I did a video tour of the hotel on YouTube titled, "Sri Lanka Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo – full hotel tour and review of our stay. Highly Recommended" under Pat's Adventures. The pool area is beautiful with a nice view and great service out there. The Horizon Club was great as usual and we did not even need to go to dinner after the cocktail hour. I cannot say enough about the staff there and the quality of the food. Again, highly recommended.

The staff were polite and friendly, nothing was too much trouble, they responded to any requests extremely quickly. The breakfast was ‘next level’, everything was delicious with all cuisines catered for. The room was spacious and clean and everything was in working order and the roof top pool was fabulous! The best customer service - We had a pleasure of staying here for four nights that was extended for another 5 nights due to the war in the Middle East.We were allocated sea view club room on the 31st floor with access to horizon club lounge on 32nd floor. This hotel is amazing and most welcoming. The service is second to none.All the staff members from room cleaning, breakfast staff, club lounge staff, pool area, chefs and kitchen staff all work as coordinated team to ensure that our stay was comfortable. They are all approachable, courteous, and friendly. Always working as a team and willing to help us in every way possible. If fact, we think we were being treated no less then VIPs . We would like to sincerely thank all the team members for the support and hospitality that you all gave us. We felt as though, we were part of you. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely come back. The hotel has access to the shopping mall with many shops, entertainment places , a supermarket and food court. The beach is literally in front of the hotel across the road . Nice place for evening walks All good

Kyle (8/5): Worth the money, great location! - Beautiful and great price but not an international 5 star IMO - needs a bit of an update but it’s still absolutely lovely. Just slightly outdated IMO also a lot of corporate events so as a guest you feel a bit awkward at times (dinner etc).

Dr-Dharshana (10/5): A Memorable Experience During SPiCE South Asia 2026 - I had the opportunity to visit Shangri-La Colombo yesterday (24th March) and today (25th March) while attending the SPiCE South Asia 2026 as a speaker, and I must say the experience was truly impressive. From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere of the hotel stood out — elegant, welcoming, and well-managed. The team was professional and attentive without being overbearing, which made the overall experience very comfortable. You can really feel the level of training and care that goes into maintaining such high standards. What stood out most to me was the consistency across all areas — from the lobby to the service touchpoints. It’s clear that a lot of effort goes into maintaining quality and guest satisfaction, especially during a high-profile international event. I also had the opportunity to briefly meet Andreas Streiber, and I would like to extend my appreciation. It’s always encouraging to see leadership that is approachable and engaged, and I believe that reflects positively on the entire team. Thank you to everyone at Shangri-La Colombo for the warm hospitality. I look forward to visiting again.

The hotel is beautifully maintained, the rooms are comfortable, and everything feels very well organized and welcoming. One of the highlights for me was dining at Central Restaurant. We had consistently nice experiences there, both in terms of food variety and atmosphere. What made it even more memorable was the excellent service—especially from Sadakelum, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right throughout our visits. Overall, a fantastic stay with great hospitality, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Colombo.
