Guest Reviews
- Ann (9/5): Does what it says on the tin - Cheap and cheerful. Good food. Comfortable room. Dog friendly. Rickety stairs. Creaky floorboards
- Andrew (9/5): A nice break in a nice place with nice people. - The bed should have had its own postcode it was so big, my room overlooked the back so I think that kept the noise level down. All the food was cooked to order and was of a really good quality. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I had a really good stay and would recommend this for anyone looking for a break. A very good nights sleep. There was no plug in the basin, but they were not aware of that I am sure it has already been resolved. It is difficult to find your way into at first.
- Daniel (6/5): Average - Bit old fashioned, bed clean, bedroom furnishings quite old, poor shower, shower screen filthy, broken bathroom floor, average at best but an old building, breakfast just ok Bathroom, very poor condition
- Martin (4/5): Nice staff - but no sport on tv.. room as basic and old fashioned as can be. - Close to the gym and motorway Rooms incredibly basic and aged … cobwebs everywhere
- Catherine (6/5): Don’t be put off by first sight. - Location ideal for our trip to Southampton. The staff were great. The breakfast was excellent too. The property is very tired and careworn it needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to modern standards.

- stephen (7/5): Staff made stay Hotel looked tired and some repairs required - Breakfast and staff were helpful and friendly Bedroom window stuck slightly open.
Beer choice Prefer cask or real ales
- Tony (9/5): - Safe parking- excellent food portions Room was cold- asked for heating to be put on but it never was, although I was only there one night
- Chris (8/5): Very convenient and excellent value for money. - Helpful and welcoming staff, comfortable bed, good breakfast included, nearby amenities, eg supermarkets. Rather difficult location, situated on a small side drive off the main road.
- Gordon (9/5): - Excellent breakfast and evening meals. Lack of heating.
- Kathy (8/5): - Good communication, Pleasant staff, everything we needed for an overnight stay, will be returning again in a few weeks. Nothing not to like.
- Jason (7/5): Decent breakfast. Wouldn’t stay here again . - Excellent cooked breakfast .
Poor quality evening meal , room was generally clean and tidy Decor not great
Stains on carpet

- Lottie112 (8/5): Overnight after ferry crossing - The staff were friendly and efficient throughout our stay. We had no problems in finding the accommodation although parking was a bit tight. The young kady that checked us in was pleasant, efficient and helpful. The overall impression of the property was that it was a bit tired. The room was a good size and the bed was large and comfortable. Everything in the room and en suite worked as it should. We requested a quiet room and this was accommodated and we had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was adequate with one person having a continental and the other a full English which was freshly cooked and tasty. Again the staff were friendly and efficient. Checkout was easy. Accommodation handy for M27 and Portsmouth ferry terminal and a late checkin time allowed plenty of time to get from the ferry terminal. We would use again. Nothing that detracted from our stay.
- Simon (7/5): - Kirsty was fantastic, done everything from booking us in, bar, dinning, very efficient.
Steak pie was meaty, breakfast covered everything.
Drink prices reasonable Very small room bed not that comfortable.
Heating not on, was chilly
- adam (10/5): -
- Clive (10/5): wil definitely stay again - excellent hard working friendly staff, food excellent in every way
- Jade (10/5): -
- wokke (5/5): Voor 1 nachtje kan net. - De bar Ontbijt viel tegen.
Oud hotel.
Vies tapijt.
Kleine badkamer.
- yvonne (7/5): -
- Carolyn (3/5): Grim! - The staff were amenable. The room was dirty, run down, mouldy and dingy. The shower was filthy and mouldy. There was no plug in the sink. The bathroom door had holes in where apparently someone had punched their way out after getting locked in the bathroom. The shelves in the bedroom were dusty and sticky. The chair was unusable due to being broken and threadbare with bare metal sticking through. The bedhead was broken, so the pillows kept falling down the back. The mattress and pillows were paper thin. The carpet was grim. No opening windows and the grey paint made it feel like a cell. The photos on the website are nothing like the reality.
- Berni (9/5): - The staff were great and the food was perfect too.
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Helen (4/5): The room needs an upgrade but the staff are lovely.. - The staff were excellent, very helpful. They listened to our niggles about the room and said they would mention it to the maintenance team. The breakfast was excellent. The shower had no instructions and to turn it off you had to go through a period of very cold water, which after a nice warm shower was not good. The kettle can't be filled from any tap in the room without using a cup, and as the kettle lid was broken it was quite difficult, until my husband fixed it. Also the secondary glazing was missing so the room, which faced the roundabout, was quite noisy. Also it had no net curtain to protect privacy, the only way to do this was too shut the curtains.

- Peter (10/5): Great value, would stay here again. - Delicious breakfast, super helpful staff couldn't do enough for us. Beds were comfortable, and dinner from the restaurant was also nice.
- david (9/5): Staff friendly, good value for money, food excellent - Friendly staff made welcome
- Wouter (6/5): - Prima kamer voor gezin van 5 personen. Heel basic, maar voor 1 nacht ok. Behoorlijk luidruchtig vlak naast de snelweg
- Holding (2/5): - Nothing Breakfast wasn't that good..bed was rock hard.. and the room was very cold
- Jimbo A (6/5): Roundabout Hotel - The breakfast Stairs
- stephen (9/5): PLEASANT WELCOMING SYAY - FOOD WAS EXCELLENT BREAKFAST VERY NICE
ROOM COULD DO WITH UPGRADING SHOWER IN NEED OF ATTENTION AND MAINLY MINOR ISSUES NOTHING

- Mitchell (10/5): -
- Rob (5/5): -
- Naomi (4/5): Rooms not maintained properly, would not stay again. - Breakfast was the best part of our stay. Ample well cooked breakfast with basic cereals and juice to start. Supplied a non-dairy alternative milk which was a bonus.
The room was quiet to sleep in given the extra glazing on the windows. When we arrived we were allocated our room on the top floor. My husband had a quick shower however the top of the soap dispenser came away from the wall into his hand. Also the holder for the shower head broke so he had to hold it with his other hand while showering. The mirror in the bathroom was cracked as was the side of the bath. We informed the staff member who kindy offered us another room however we were due to go out imminently and didn't have time to change rooms. The bathroom shouldn't have been in that state in the first place and should be better maintained. Was not worth £120 a night.
- julie (8/5): The girl behind the bar was lovely breakfast very good room okay -
- Clare (10/5): Great good value. The staff went out they way to help us perfect. Comfortable clean a friendly thanks - Great with lots of character Nothing
- Mark (10/5): -
- Liz (4/5): The hotel is so very tired. Retire it or do it up! - The staff were brilliant really friendly and accommodating. The food was reasonable. The place needs closing down. The carpets are filthy. The room was very tired and the towel rail in our room was a disgrace. 50% rusty. Round the window’s was dirty however they are very old. The housekeeping staff had done their best. The bed was old and felt like the springs had gone although I didn’t really want to look. We ordered a bacon and sausage sandwich for 7am which must have been delivered around 6 am so was stone cold when we noticed it. I really hope someone will take this over and re build the inside. Otherwise I envisage the windows boarded up next time we pass. The location was great for us to catch the ferry. Really sorry but I really think you are flogging a very dead horse.
- Stirling (9/5): Great staff, easy access - Staff were great. Location spot on
- Andrew (9/5): - easy with no problems. Polite and helpful staff. No plug for the sink
- ANAIS (9/5): Très british - je recommande ! - Propre personnel sympathique très bon petit déjeuner chambre confortable Un peu bruyant avec la 4 voies
- Hough (7/5): Ok, but wont stay again. - Good location Needs updating, tired looking rooms and overall appearance. Small room, with hairs in the shower
- Robert (6/5): Acceptable ! - Our evening meal was well presented and good value for money. We only chose a light breakfast and could not fault it. All the staff exercised a pleasing manner. Our bed was comfortable and we had a peaceful good night's sleep. The room was clean but there was no plug for the bathroom basin. A "push in" plug top for the bathroom basin sealing top was missing and therefore the basin was not fit for purpose . It was simple to fix by acquiring a new "screw in" top. The push down mechanism was functional. So why not complete this simple repair !
- Glen (8/5): -
- Glen (8/5): - Very comfortable and the food was good It was all okay 👍
- Laura (1/5): - Comfy bed, very nice breakfast Someone entered our room in the night
- Robin (10/5): -
- Robin (10/5): -
- claire (9/5): - Comfortable room with everything I needed for the night - I had a good night sleep
- John (10/5): Great place - Good food clean room friendly Nothing
- Ricky (1/5): Not fit for human habitation! - The staff were very friendly and the hotel was in a good location. It was not clean (cobwebs in the bathroom, yellow pillows, small jumping insects on the bed). The bathroom door handle was coming off, the wooden window frame was completely rotten, the shower pipes were coming away from the wall. The whole place was very run down and dirty. We arrived late in the evening for a 3 day stay and checked out first thing the next morning.
- Lord (9/5): - Breakfast was good, staff were friendly and helpful. There was a droning sound like a washing machine that disturbed my sleep a little.
- Juana (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean rooms and affordable price
- andy (10/5): -
- Ian (8/5): Good value for money breakfast was delicious and was included - Close to the venue we were going to All good
- Joseph (9/5): -
- Lorraine (4/5): Very disappointing! - The staff were very nice & the breakfast was excellent. The full hotel had a funny smell on arrival.
The room was small & it wasn't clean, bed very uncomfortable.
Shower was dirty, ceiling had mould on.
Bedroom walls were covered in dirty marks & hair band under the bed on dusty carpet.
- Davies (10/5): - The room was tidy and bathroom was big size. However the shower gel dispenser was slightly dodgy. But it was a nice tidy space and fantastic breakfast included in the price N/A
- Anna (7/5): Friendly and welcoming - Friendly and very welcoming, despite being near a main road and roundabout it was very quiet and the bed was very cozy and comfortable. Good breakfast, would defiantly stay again.
- David (9/5): Comfy and clean and friendly - Clean and friendly Nothing
- Stephen (4/5): Clean but dated hotel desperately in need of a major refit - The bedroom was clean and the staff friendly but The hotel needs a massive investment! The bathrooms are 1980s and 1990s i am sure it hasn’t been decorated for 10 years and is so tired and dark and needs a face lift. It is value for money but all rooms need a refit and all areas need redecorating and the entrances front and back are unfriendly and the reception is unwelcoming and if you don’t do this remedial work in the next 1 year it will will die sadly
- Suzanne (9/5): Very relaxing, we would definitely stay again and we would highly recommend the hotel. - Lovely welcome on arrival, spacious room and the restaurant and bar area are excellent.
- philipjill (5/5): - It’s got old style character but in need of upgrade in the accommodation
the staff were excellent , most helpful & friendly
The evening food was very good
The breakfast was excellent
- Gaynor (5/5): The hotel is situated by the roundabout making it very convenient but the hotel is very basic - The breakfast was good It was cold when we arrived and there was no heating, I thought ok, give it time, but it did not come on until I went to complain, then it was put on. The bed was not comfortable, and the windows rattled. Only one hand towel for the two of us. Very basic
- Niall (3/5): I will not be back. - Breakfast TV did not work. No double-glazing in an extremely noisy room facing a roundabout. Mattress should have been replaced. No plug in bathroom sink.
- ERICA (9/5): Excellent made welcome - Just like going back in time, just love it and lovely welcome to all concerned. Breakfast excellent Nothing
- Christine (5/5): - The staff were friendly and very helpful The beds needed to be taken to the tip.
They were extremely old with springs sticking up. Be warned - there are a lot of stairs at this hotel.
- Leah (7/5): - breakfast was really nice and accommodate to dietary needs, only down full is road sound , dated mattress.
- Przemyslaw (8/5): -
- David (10/5): Pint and burger, Pint and pie. Enough said - Comfy bed and welcoming staff Dripping gutter in the car park it was a bit scary
- Justine (8/5): -
- Mary (8/5): - Staff were all very frendly and welcoming room was clean food was excerlant More sockets needed but it's an old building and that's difficult to do
- Denise (8/5): - The hotel was very conveniently close to where we wanted to be..
Free on-site parking and they allowed us to leave the car after checkout whilst we walked into town.
The breakfast (included in the price) was very good. Thank you to the chef who stayed open to cook us a meal when we arrived within minutes of the restaurant closing.in the evening.
A lot of interesting history associated with the building.
The staff were all friendly and helpful. Thank you. As the name suggests the hotel is on a roundabout so there was a fair amount of traffic noise.
A shelf in the bathroom would be useful.

- Richard (8/5): -
- yves (8/5): - Sur l' axe routier Portsmouth Cardiff.Bien situé. Contraintes de bruits de la route. Établissement ancien mais propre et bien chaleureux. Petit déjeuner top. Je recommande
- Robert (7/5): I have stayed before and probably will do again because of their price and location - Good food and a welcoming atmosphere No real ale, they used to have a good choice but the availability of only lagers and ice cold bottled beer was very disappointing
- Izaak (7/5): -
- Joanne (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place, good food very helpful accommodating staff.
Will definitely return. The room was clean and facilities good.
Lots of choices on drinks and food.
- MarkB (6/5): adequate and well placed for Gosport. - The staff were friendly, the breakfast nice. The room was very tired and the mattress was very old and tired. The windows were equally old and wooden sash and let all the car noise from the roundabout in.
- Gill (4/5): Staff were lovely but the building was very tired and grubby. - The burgers we had for a meal in the evening were very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was very chilly! The only warm spot in the bar was in front of the fire? But everyone wanted to sit there?? The rest of the pub was cold!
- Richard (8/5): -
- Iain (7/5): A good stay all in all. - Staff were lovely. Breakfast was good. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was small, with a shower inside the bath which was a little awkward for my elderly parents but no major issue.
- Peter (2/5): Disappointing. - Cheap price. Bed mattress was extremely thin and uncomfortable. Fan did not work. The website (and the person checking me in) stated breakfast started at 0700. This was incorrect and so I had to leave before having breakfast (despite this being included in the price) as I had to make an early start.
- Emil (7/5): Lovely staff and excellent food would definitely eat there again - Lovely lady (les I believe her name was) on checkin and also she served us dinner was friendly and chatty. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. The bed was too soft for our likening I do know that this is a personal choice though.
- steve (10/5): - Just a great. Time staff amazing. Creaky stairs made me laugh at 2am
- Rita (9/5): -
- Christine (7/5): Comfortable. - Really good breakfast - freshly cooked and great quality
- Sylvia (8/5): Value for money. - Comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Bathroom sealant needed replacing.
- Wild (7/5): - Decent
- Patrick (7/5): -
- Richard (1/5): Spend and extra few pounds and book somewhere else. This was not a good experience at all. - Really nice staff - who have been totally let down by a run down facility. Our interaction with staff was always helpful, warm and friendly. Bar had a great atmosphere to be fair. Room not clean - toilet had poo around the basin on arrival - hole in the tile lining of bathroom wall, bathroom door would'nt close, Curtains dirty, Carpet dirty and smelly - both twin beds had awful mattresses you could feel springs in your back. Pillows were that dirty I could'nt use one. Bath/shower was dirty on arrival. We arrived at 10pm so plenty of time to clean a room after the last guest,
In my numerous stays with booking.com this is by far the worst. Yes this is an old venue with character, but no excuses to to neglect being clean and habitable. I consider myself a good loyal customer of booking.com and this is not what i expect. Over the many, many times i have used booking.com. I have never been shocked and disappointed until now. Checking out and breathing the morning air was the best part of this stay. SORRY!
- Stephen (7/5): -
- Nigel (7/5): Lovely staff , super food - Food excellant Lack of front desk staff
- Leah (7/5): - place was very welcoming , staff really friendly and helpful, bed very comfortable . also allowed for dogs window needs double glazing which only one window did and other didnt in our room so very noisy .
- Anthony (9/5): Fabuleux - Le personnel était adorable et les chambres très confortables !! Juste la location de l'hôtel (à côté de la route)
- Rachel (2/5): We did not enjoy our stay, the hotel that would benefit from a good deep clean and a lot of TLC - Breakfast was good with good options available. The twins who we dealt with in the evening and the morning were friendly and approachable Very dirty room. Extremely dirty windows which were covered in big cobwebs, one pillow was very heavily stained and had a rip on it. One of the bathroom lights didn’t work and was falling out the socket, behind the toilet had a big build up of dust and was generally very dirty. The walls are very thin and you can hear people next door. The hotel is in a busy location, the room had the framework for secondary glazing but the actual glass was missing so noise was a big problem so we weren’t able to have a good sleep.
