- Sarah (9/5): - Great location in the centre of Hay on Wye
- Alan (9/5): - Great location, fantastic breakfast Low beams, but only to be expected in such a lovely old place
- Angie (8/5): Lovely central stay. - It was perfect and central for all the bookshops we visited. You could easily walk everywhere you needed to in this beautiful place. The staff that we dealt with on arrival was amazing and very helpful. Great off street parking which was perfect for the visit. Breakfast was filling and had plenty choice. I know it was a very old building but decor was a little dated downstairs.
- Kenneth (10/5): Comfortable, friendly and great value. - Great staff, lovely room, excellent breakfast and the pool was a bonus. All good.
- Julien (7/5): - La piscine
Le bon petit déjeuner La chambre était petite et la salle de bains encore plus
Vue sur le toit de la piscine
Chambre sans charme
- judith (5/5): - The breakfast was amazing. We had a room above the pool which was very small and noisey when the pool was in use.
- pandaed (9/5): - Excellent stay — clean room, friendly hosts, and a really good breakfast. Perfect location in the centre of Hay‑on‑Wye. Would definitely return.

- Cho (9/5): Overall, very pleasant stay and experience - Just opposite the town centre. The room is clean and contains all basic needs. Diane is very nice. Delicious and generous breakfast. Captain is friendly too. It would be nice if the room had a small fridge.
- Hannah (10/5): Lovely, will stay again - Breakfast was lovely and the staff were so friendly and welcoming N/A
- Emily (8/5): -
- Zoe (10/5): - Friendly staff, great breakfast - and choice of breakfast. Excellent location for visiting Hay, with carparking included. Easy to follow check in instructions as we were arriving late in the day
- Mark (8/5): - Very well located. Excellent breakfast.
- Lisa (9/5): We had a lovely stay and will stay again when we next visit Hay. - Staff were really friendly and helpful.
Very dog friendly. Dogs are allowed in the dining area at breakfast, which is great.
It’s very convenient for visiting Hay and there is on site parking.

- Helen (7/5): - Excellent breakfast.
- Tamzin (10/5): - Comfy room in a lovely B&B very close to everything in Hay on Wye. Very friendly staff and delicious breakfast
- Edwards (10/5): - Comfortable room, lovely staff (and dog!), and a superb breakfast! Very centrally located for exploring and free parking. Even has a heated indoor swimming pool Nothing! Perfect B & B,, our second visit and won't be our last
- David Freer (7/5): Parking, location but pool booked out. - The location, the parking, the breakfast. A bed and breakfast with a pool is how it was advertised and that was one of the reasons we chose it. A pool that was unavailable to b&b guests for most of the time we were there as it was rented out for private hire & swimming lessons. That wasn't mentioned on the website...
I appreciate the need to generate income but felt we were misled in advertising this as a feature, and we felt we were paying for a feature that we were prevented from using.
- Cindy (8/5): - In the heart of town, nice breakfast and friendly staff If you have vertigo, the room we stayed in had very uneven floors
- Jennie (7/5): Good short stay venue - Ideally situated for visits to NT properties and Hereford. Had 3 good evening meals out within easy walking distance.
Very good breakfasts, easy parking, excellent wifi. Room quaint and comfortable and heating on when needed. Staff very pleasant and helpful. A little tired, chipped crockery and mattress felt well used and not very comfortable.
- Rachel (9/5): Short and sweet - Very friendly staff, lovely breakfast, parking
- Celia (10/5): Five stars for the Seven Stars ! - Very welcoming and helpful staff. Our room was lovely and warm and very comfortable.
We had use of the indoor pool (water lovely temperature) and enjoyed a swim in the evening, which was very relaxing after our long walk on the Offa's Dyke. This was a great bonus, we wish we'd had time for another swim in the morning!
Breakfast was very generous and delicious, served at the table. We felt very well looked after staying with you ******* Thanks! We wish we'd stayed longer in Hay to look around and had time for another swim!
- James (9/5): - Staff and location excellent Nothing
- Gareth (8/5): -
- julie (8/5): - Location fantastic = centre of Hay. Parking (narrow passage to it) for £10/stay. Dog stayed free (but note they don't allow dogs to stay in the room supervised at ANY time - includes breakfast).
Swimming pool a decent size and warm! 31' but adults not allowed in on their own, must be x2 present at all times. Available 9am - 7pm.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Comfy bed and very clean.
Used to be a pub - sitting and dining areas are where bar would have been. No staff on-site 7pm-9am. Breakfast very tasty, self-serve buffet style 8.15 - 9.30am at weekends. Vacate room by 10.30am. Pool changing room could have been a bit cleaner (public do have access at times, for children's swimming lessons) but the pool itself is in good condition.
Carpets and decor a little dated but spotless and comfortable.
- Richard (9/5): Seven Stars was brilliant and staff were superb, breakfast was delicious and location was perfect! - Great location and free parking onsite.
- Ignacia (10/5): - Everything. Diana was very kind and accommodating, warmly welcoming us and our dog, Gary. The breakfast was delicious.
- ANDREW (8/5): Quiet and friendly, great breakfasts - Its central location and heated pool Narrow entrance for vehicles
- Lucia (8/5): -
- rachel (10/5): - Breakfast was great. Staff were lovely. Parking was useful.
- Theo (10/5): - Perfect location in Hay for exploring the town. Lovely staff and a delicious breakfast included.
- Helen (8/5): -
- Jenny (8/5): - Enjoyed a swim and liked how close to centre of Hay we were. The pool is used by locals for swimming lessons sometimes ( though not while we were there) - i liked the community spirit of the place. Friendly and welcoming staff and it was clean and comfortable. Can hear the town clock bell in the night - It reminded me of family summers in France and i found it quite soothing!. Very quiet otherwise - given we were in the town. Great choice at breakfast too. The faded photos on display in front of hotel could do with being updated to better reflect how lovely it actually is inside.
- Lech (10/5): Kind people make the place - Historic period house and kind helpful staff
- Karen (10/5): Great stay, ideal location in centre of lovely Hay on Wye. - Great stay in a lovely small town. Breakfast was lovely, catered for gluten free. The room was quiet, away from the street, quite small but lovely and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There was a pool but we did not use it.
- Bethan (10/5): A lovely, unique stay in the heart of Hay on Wye. Loved Captain! - Perfect central location, and a lovely owner. Full English breakfast included in price, accompanied by the wonderful presence of Captain! Could not praise this place enough. We couldn’t stay longer!
- Bradley (10/5): A perfectly placed and well run B&B right in the heart of Hay-on-Wye - The location of Seven Stars is ideal, right in the heart of Hay and perfect for wandering around the bookshops, it’s also a short drive from the national park.
- Ian (10/5): Really appreciated the warm welcome, both human and canine (Captain) - Very welcoming - great breakfast room Nothing
- Stacie-Jo (10/5): Welcoming - Staff were so welcoming.
- Bogg (10/5): -
- Alison (8/5): Friendly staff, lovely breakfast with lots of choice. - Great breakfast and bonus that there was an indoor swimming pool. Exterior of building needs some care, didn't give a great first impression.
- Esther (6/5): -
- Natasha (10/5): Very Nice Stay at Seven Stars - The Seven Stars was a lovely central located B&B. Staff were very helpful and the B&B was spotless, our room was lovely and very comfortable with complementary tea/coffee biscuits and soap/shower gels in the en-suite bathroom.
We met the owner Diana at breakfast she was very courteous and we had a lovely chat after our delicious breakfast. We would definitely stay at Seven Stars again and recommend this B&B to family and friends. Thank you for a lovely stay!
- Joanna (8/5): -
- J-AB (10/5): - We had an amazing stay from start to finish. The place was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. What really stood out was how kind and helpful the hosts were! our car broke down during the trip and they went out of their way to support us, which we really appreciated. It made a stressful situation so much easier. Couldn’t have asked for better service. Nothing at all. Everything was spot on.
- Victoria (10/5): -
- Mac (8/5): Right in the centre of things - Character Nothing
- Angela (10/5): Welcoming and friendly accommodation. - Great location. Delicious breakfast. Wonderful staff.
- Emma (7/5): Was cold at night because heater was turned off. Mold in the shower. Traveling around the uk found it quite expensive co - Good location I think the price was up there!
- Kevin (7/5): I used this as a base for a couple of nights while touring on my motorcycle. The location was ideal and the parking at t - Great location for exploring the area. The building is full of character. The breakfast was amazing and kept me going all day. The staff were absolutely spot on. I'd stay again in a heartbeat. I'm not sure this is a dislike as it's more about the nature of old buildings.
I had the top room which, when I arrived was chilly. They supply electric heaters so once the room warmed up it was nice but being right up top it cooled rapidly.
I imagine in summer it has the opposite problem of trapping heat.
If you like climate controlled hotels, this won't be for you.
- Stephen (7/5): - Location was superb, breakfast was magnificent. Owner and staff were friendly and helpful. Decor was rather tired. Bathroom could benefit from a bit of TLC.
- Gina (8/5): Highly recommended as a comfortable, quiet base for exploring Hay and the surrounding countryside. - The staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. They were all absolutely lovely. The pool was a great bonus. Oustanding coffee at breakfast too!
- Andrew (4/5): Disappointed - Location and parking On arrival we were advised the pool would not be open this evening,( we had booked another hotel, but they emailed us to say the pool was being refurbished so we cancelled and booked Seven Stars instead). Imagine our disappointment. Moving on, no shower curtain so tried to have a bath… no hot water. !!!
- Norman (9/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): Well placed hotel, with friendly staff. - The location was excellent. Choice of breakfast was good The staff were very friendly and made you feel welcome. We had a family room at the top of the building with splendid views. A super place to stay. It was a little cold in our room during the night.
- timothy (8/5): Nice room and facilities. - Great location in town.
Clean rooms and quality breakfast.
Nice pool. A little noisy over road.
- Gareth (10/5): We loved our stay at Severn Stars. The swimming pool facility was excellent, the welcome we received from Di was first - We loved our stay at Severn Stars. The swimming pool facility was excellent, the welcome we received from
Di was first class as was the breakfast.
Would definitely recommend. 10 out of 10 ⭐️

- Peter (8/5): -
- Morten (1/5): -
- Mel (10/5): - Breakfast was great, and the swimming pool was lovely and warm. Right in town so close to book shops, cafes etc. Parking included was great but could be a bit tight for big cars/vans. The room was cold to begin with, had to turn the radiator on full to get it warm even though it was a small room. It was fine then, it was cosy.
- Timothy (9/5): Warm and welcoming. - Very warm and friendly staff. It really made the the stay special! Breakfast times could be a little longer to allow for later breakfasts over the weekend.
- Phil (7/5): Relaxing - The breakfast was was excellent Small tv and no shower

Also, they have wonderful loving dog greeter named Captain. ❤️ I always wish I could stay longer for friendships were forged. I would always be sad I would have to leave. 😕
- Andy (10/5): First stay and definitely won’t be the last. A beautiful b&b with the most lovely hosts. - Well what can I say about our first and definitely not last stay at Seven Stars. . . It was amazing and my wife’s 40th birthday trip was perfect.
Upon arrival we were promptly shown to our room by lovely staff and just as described; it was was perfect. The room itself was at the back and entered directly into the swimming pool which was just perfect as my wife loves nothing more than a morning swim. Being that it was my Wife’s special bday we were also greeted to a birthday banner and card which was a very sweet touch.
After a great day roaming around Hay on Wye we had a very comfy nights sleep and woke to have a swim in a lovely pool which we had all to ourselves before breakfast.
We met the owner Di, who was so lovely and her beautiful dog Captain who is just the sweetest and adds a feeling of home as he roams around the pub greeting guests with the same warmth as the staff who were all lovely.
Breakfast was perfect with a really nice selection of cereals, juices, tea, coffee and cooked food. We had the full breakfast which was cooked perfectly and a lovely start to the day.
It’s a 16th century ex pub which has beautiful
Character and charm. If you are looking for somewhere to stay to make your visit that extra bit special then don’t hesitate to book with Seven Stars.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely!!
Thank you again for making our first stay and my wife’s special birthday perfect. I couldn’t fault a thing
- Caroline (7/5): Good simple night’s stay allowing dogs in central Hay with car parking - The staff care and breakfast were excellent including treats for my doggies. Good that I didn’t have to pay extra for pets.
Slightly strange trying to have an afternoon nap with the swimmers right next door the other side of the French doors. Paying for a double room and breakfast as a single woman and being charged as if I was a couple.Disappointed to be told after booking I wasn’t allowed to have an early morning as on my own…
- Alison (9/5): - Breakfast excellent and Pool an unexpected bonus
- Madeleine (8/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): Made my stay a lovely brake will recommend it - Perfect breakfast realy good choice plenty off it , nice and clean and staff lovely very pleased

- melanie (8/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come again - Staff were very friendly and informative and breakfast was great. - Noel (8/5): A very pleasing stay. - The location was excellent in a lovely town with a good range of independant shops and cafes. We were made to feel very welcome. Enjoyed the pool. More options for breakfast, e.g. yogurt, fresh fruit, continental. However it was off season and quiet.
- Jean (8/5): -
- Ceri (7/5): - Breakfast was excellent. Very tasty and hot.
- Danielle (10/5): Fabulous historic place with pool and best breakfast ever - The rustic and antique feel was amazing. Woodbeam building. And the pool. Breakfast was out of this world Nothing! If you’re front of the building you may hear the town bell all night :/
- Amanda (8/5): - Welcoming and friendly staff, great breakfast, lovely building, great location Swimming pool closed an hour early
- Angelo (10/5): Great place and Happy stay - Beautiful building with lovely helpful staff who we had great chats with. Maybe bigger TV mounted on wall rather than small TV on top of the wardrobe and shower was a bit small but we only saw our room and there isn't much you can do with the shower size so we're really not complaining!
