- Number1Reviewer (8/5): Almost perfect, but….. - This was a very nice hotel for a reasonable price. Although, I didn’t meet Matt personally, he was excellent when I talked to him on the phone. He was very helpful and accommodating. But the visit fell short at check in. The lady who checked me in was a bit older and had dark hair and glasses and a t-rex cup. I said I did digital check in. I’m a diamond member and I gave my room number, last name, and the last 4 digits of my card. That should be sufficient. She was kind of rude and got a little irate and demanded my ID. I nicely explained everything and she told me to go get my ID or she can turn off my digital key. I expect better service as a diamond member. I should’ve just done strictly digital check in so I didn’t have to deal with anyone. I wasn’t expecting this kind of treatment. I would stay here again, but that lady needs a coaching on her attitude

Kyle was at the front desk and was very friendly and helpful. He let us use the phone and after checking us in, he brought warm tea up to our room. Thanks for being welcoming and responding kindly to a tough situation Kyle!

My daughter and I have had a rough few months and I asked if they could do anything to the room to make it cool and they decorated it with some balloons, truly a God given day I love love love Nothing it was fabulous

- Reuben (10/5): I love the rooms at Home2 Suites - I had to eat and leave before breakfast was served. It would be nice of breakfast was served by 6:00 a.m. I had to go to bed at 8:30 p.m. for an early morning, and there was a guy vacuuming right outside my door while I was trying to go to sleep. Also, there for no cleaning supplies of any type in the exercise room. There should always be spray and towels or wipes for the equipment. There was absolutely nothing.

- J4157YEcarlosm (4/5): Disappointing stay at a Hilton hotel - My stay at this Hilton hotel was quite disappointing. The cleaning schedule of every other day is not respected, and sometimes up to seven days pass without the room being cleaned. Furthermore, when cleaning does occur, the bed is not properly made, and neither the gel nor the dish soap is replenished. The sofa has multiple stains, and the desk chair is also dirty, with visible sweat marks. Additionally, the trash is not regularly taken out, causing unpleasant odors and discomfort. Moreover, the breakfast is made solely from precooked or processed products

- 74bayleighe (2/5): Do NOT stay here!!! - If I could give this hotel 0 stars, I would. My husband & I stayed over for a wedding and are not ones to complain but we did come home with bed bugs. We have NEVER had bed bugs in either of our lives. When I called the hotel to tell the manager about this, she said she would have someone look and call me back. I said I would hate to have someone else deal with this problem and pay such an expensive bill. She did not call me back so I called her a second time and she said the company coming in couldn’t come until the following week. She did return my third call but when I asked for proof that an exterminator came, she did not get it to me. I waited, called a fourth time and asked to talk to the manager and received yet another excuse. This hotel is not clean, the workers do not care what goes on, and there is no follow through! I would not suggest this to anyone!!!
- Cynthia (6/5): - Disappointed there was no phone in our room hooked up to contact the front desk, it was very noisy on our floor with dogs, barking well into the night, and breakfast was a disappointment. They didn’t even have enough food at 8:00 AM on Monday, September 1 to serve at least 8 to 10 Guests including my husband and I. The only reason we extended our stay was for convenience and three people that made our stay a little better one was Matthew at the front desk, Tippus, and Trina in housekeeping. They were exceptional beyond that huge disappointment.

In our three night stay, we did not have our room serviced once. We had to request towels after the expected every other day service. And we had to take out our own trash. When we arrived, the fold-a-bed was open, and the filters for the in room a/c were out on the unit. They were not ready for our arrival. Next time we will definitely choose one of the other numerous properties in the area.

- jamesbG5144YY (8/5): Great place, needs some paint! - We were worried that we should not have booked the hotel when we pulled up and saw the peeling paint on the entry way posts. A simple coat of white paint would make for a much better impression and actually mirror the friendly staff, pleasant surroundings in the lobby, and comfortable clean room. Overall the hotel is great, just wish they understood first impressions!

- Discover46921842000 (2/5): Worse Hilton Experience Yet - I just attempted to check in at Home 2 Suites by Hilton Iowa City Coralville, and Addy just racially profiled me and my family, and Matt, the front-end manager, allowed it. She made the executive decision to cancel our reservation as we were talking to the manager, Matt, and he allowed it! Addy then brought another family into the already tense situation by claiming we were scaring a child who dropped a drink, which had nothing to do with us, and both her mom and dad hadn’t said anything! Addy then threatened to call the police on me, although my badge had been sitting on the counter the entire interaction, and she was the one being aggressive towards us! This type of behavior displayed by Addy and Matt is disturbing and unacceptable. I am a Hilton Honors member, but I was on a reservation with my nephew, who was also present during this interaction. I stayed at the same hotel in March, and Matt checked me out; his behavior today was different. I told him I remembered him from last time; I thought he checked me in and out, but he stated he had no interactions with me. Which was a lie, it was determined he checked me out. He seemed out of it, as if he was under the influence of some type of narcotic. Very nonchalant and careless as Addy seemed to be running the show, he stated that he didn’t think she was being rude or aggressive, even though she decided to cancel our reservation mid conversation with Matt! He had his hands in his pocket and was fidgety. Addy is a clear racist as she was unpleasant from the moment she came from the back. The maintenance man was the only professional employee I interacted with at that hotel today! He spoke to me as soon as he saw me and asked if I was checking in and stated he was maintenance but he would get someone.

At night group of adults kind of took over the common fireplace sitting area to get loud and obnoxiously drunk, blasting music with a giant speaker until late. No one else could even use the area. Woke up in the morning and it was littered with empty beer cans and liquor bottles. Hotel has great potential but the other guests ruined it and the management didn't seem to mind guests treating the place like a college frat party.

I checked out at 1030 at night with no refund and booked another hotel. And the staffs response… “I can see how that would be annoying” … it beeped every 5 minutes. So frustrating that they had no staff for minor maintenance that would have addressed the issue and made for me to be able to stay the night there.

- Deb (6/5): - When I first walked into the lobby there was an unpleasant smell, not sure what it was. Room was clean and bed was sufficient enough. Bathroom needs a hook by the shower. I was in a handicap room. There was a black small bug in the bathroom and the water didn’t really get hot for my shower. The room was large and breakfast was so so. The best thing about the hotel was an employee named “Mama”, she was very polite and someone I really enjoyed talking with.

The rooms were very spacious with plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed having the kitchenette in our room. The pool and hot tub were amazing! We loved the saline pool. Breakfast had a wide variety of choices and was continually restocked. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We've stayed in a number of hotels in the city to visit and this was by far the BEST!! We will definitely be staying at Home2 for all of our future visits. No complaints. Everything was excellent.

- 60lynelled (4/5): Poor welcome and not well maintained - Our greeting as a Hilton member was not friendly or acknowledged. Initial room assignment the room smelled and the heater was loud. Furniture was torn and elevator had crumbs and trash in it. The one good aspect was a staff member named “Mama” who took care of the breakfast spread. She was amazing - smiling, helpful, took care for the breakfast presentation, cares about people.She’s a keeper!

- Kayla (10/5): Always a pleasure. - Check in was a breeze as usual. The room we got smelled really bad when we walked in but narrowed that down to something in the garbage disposal in the sink. Turned it on and the smell was gone by the time we came back from dinner. That was the only bad thing we encountered. The hot tub was great, breakfast options were slim but good. All around a great stay as always. Still our favorite go-to hotel in this city.

- Rachel (2/5): - We were in a total of 3 rooms. First the TV didn't work so they switched us, second room had severe mice droppings and damage from mice, 3rd was still not great but it was late and we had 3 small children. Awful experience.

- Kathryn (6/5): Convenient hotel with some ups and downs - We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and it is usually amazing! This time is was okay. The things that always have been wonderful include the spacious layout of the rooms, the abundant storage, the friendly staff, and the clean and well kept pool. These things are what keep us coming back to this hotel, luckily this hasn’t changed! In the past the breakfast and housekeeping have also been excellent, however this time the breakfast foods were stale and options were slim. Out of our 7 night stay, we had housekeeping stop by one morning only at the beginning of our stay to see if we needed anything. At that point we didn’t, but by day 4, 5, and 6 we did want the trash emptied and fresh towels and wouldn’t have minded a quick vacuuming. I’m sure I could have requested this at the front desk but I didn’t bother. The real bummer on this trip was the lack of hot water for showers on our final night. The duration of our stay required about 5 minutes for the shower to get warm but on the last night the water would not get hot at all. Overall we will probably stay here again next time we come to Coralville, because travelling with kids it is so nice to have the separate bedroom, but it would be great if the breakfast foods were taken a look at and if the hotel could get a better water heater.
