Guest Reviews
- Laura Freed (8/5): Lovely little place helpful staff - The house was traditional and the staff at reception very helpful Very near the train line which was loud but ok we didn't mind but some people may find it disruptive. Very near Shimbamba station which made it easy to get around

- Marek (8/5): -
- Monica (10/5): - Cerca de la estación de metro. Estaba muy limpio y cómodo para 4 personas.

- Tommy (10/5): Great location and room. - Location and room. Nothing
- Lorna (9/5): Great opportunity to live like the locals for our stay in Japan - Once we got used to the neighbourhood (didn't take long), we loved the location of the property. The host was very friendly and helpful. We had the option to get new towels every day. This was really appreciated and helped with having dry fresh towels every day. We liked the traditional feel to the house and the Japanese touches that we are not used to in Australia. We were a little concerned that our family of 5 would not fit but we made it work and we were all very comfortable for our trip to Tokyo. The pillows were a complaint that we all felt in Japan - not just at this accommodation. We are used to higher firmer pillows and Japanese pillows are not. That's all that we didn't like!

- Tristan (8/5): Shimbamba <3 - Located near Shimbaba Station, which is directly connected to Shinagawa and other train stations in and around Tokyo. 20 minute walk from Shinagawa Station. Beds are super comfortable and the living room is awesome. Hosts are super nice and helpful and reply quickly to messages. The bins are outside. If the weather is bad you might get wet throwing out the trash. The toilets are a little cramped. The walls are thin, if you're a light sleeper, skip this.
- Fabsmelbourne (8/5): Good Location. Basic facilities. - Nice old school Japanese little house.
Good location, behind the train station. Very friendly host. They lent us an international adapter.
Lot's of convenience stores and restaurants around. Very basic.
Nowhere to sit comfortably, the stairs are very steep and there is not hand rail.
They could provide basic cooking need like salt, oil, coffee, sugar.
- Sarah (9/5): Charming little Japanese house in Shinagawa - Great little house that gives you room to spread out, much bigger than a hotel room but small for a house. There is only a shower but the water pressure is strong and water is hot. There is a small public bath around the corner. The staff is nice and the location is very close to a train station, 7/11, and restaurants. Also loved the temple behind the house. The area is very walkable and peaceful. The beds are futons and are fine for sleeping, but medium level comfort. The windows are thin so you can hear emergency vehicle sirens at night—I recommend earplugs. It would be nice to have some tea at the property. The checkin location was a bit difficult for us to find, but the community center around the corner has people that will direct you (I think it may be connected?).
- Linda (10/5): The house was very comfortable and in a good location close to the train station -
- Lak184 (9/5): Absolutely fabulous stay at Rengeso! Super clean, great location and perfect place to say for couples or family! - Loved everything! Cannot recommend this accomodation highly enough! Nothing
- Katerina (7/5): Cosy little house near the station and the shrine - Clean, relatively comfortable little house with a bedroom upstairs that divides in two by sliding screens. We had enough space to sleep for two adults and two children. Beds were comfortable. There are two toilets, upstairs and downstairs.
Location is perfect, right next to the Shimbamba station about 2 min walk and 5 min to famous Shinagawa shrine.
You can also walk to Shinagawa station, about 15-20 min, where many trains and connections are (get to Ginza jn 15 min, Ueno 15 min and Shibya 10 min).
7/11 and Family Mart are just around the corner as well as a shopping street with a small local restaurants and shops.
Staff was going beyond to make us feel comfortable. They also arranged a parking space for us free of charge and washed and dried our clothes. Kitchen has a pan and a pot for cooking and few pieces of cutlery, cups and glasses.
But no condiments. It’s not a big space, at some moments, family of four, we felt quite cramped. We stayed in the house mid December and it was quite cold as the place only heats up with an aircon, that we found was confusing for us to operate because we don’t know Japanese. Shower space is tiny and cold and located downstairs, oppose bedrooms that are upstairs. Stairs itself are quite steep.
- Richard (8/5): Great place to stay in a quiet neighborhood. Wonderful hosts. - The staff at the temple that manage the property are wonderful. They are so kind and helpful. Be aware that this is a free standing, small house on a narrow back street, about 100 meters away from a busy avenue. When you are upstairs, you can hear some noise from the train (station nearby) as well as from the avenue. The noise is less noticeable when you are downstairs. But even upstairs, it is not too bad really. Also be aware that it is a Japanese-style house. That means the flooring is tatami mats, except for wood flooring in the kitchen/dining area. There are beds upstairs, if you want to sleep in a bed. Or you can sleep on the tatami mat, Japanese style. Be aware that the house is located near Shimbamba Station, which is outside the Yamanote Line, 2 stops away from Shinagawa Station on the local train. We prefer a Japanese style house, and we like the quiet neighborhood and the narrow back street. And we don't mind riding the local train to Shinagawa in order to access central Tokyo. But not all tourists to Japan will appreciate these aspects, I guess. Supermarkets located nearby. Possible to do some cooking in the kitchen. Washing machine is easy to use and very handy. If you want a Japanese bath, there is a place nearby where you can go, for a small charge. We very much enjoyed our stay and would do it again without hesitation. Sorry, but I can't really think of anything that I disliked.
- Linda (10/5): This is a beautiful and comforting stay, would recommend and will go again. -
- Christina (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (9/5): Very good - It's close to a major station and a convenience store so your day to day needs are easily covered. The facilities were excellent and everything was clean. Towels are changed daily so that's a bonus. I had the same issue at another property, so maybe it's just me, but I couldn't figure out how to get the washer/dryer to properly dry our clothes. This problem was made worse by the lack of clarity on where to hang clothes to dry. There's a drying rack in the upstairs closet, but I couldn't find enough space to set it up.
Another minor gripe was that the downstairs bathroom door was noisy and difficult to open and close.
- Erin (8/5): Very good -
- Li (10/5): Dream house - Great space for family. Very close to metro. Has parking space if you are driving a car. The host is very nice and helpful. The room is cosy and warm. The temple at the back is healing me XD No bath tub, however there are public hot springs nearby.
- Jorge (8/5): Good Japanese experience - Location, Japanese style living experience Check-in.... nobody at the property waiting for us. A notice indicating where to go to pick up the keys would have sufficed
- Khanh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jason (10/5): Best little place in Tokyo - Warm and wonderful. Best staff ever and great location. Uhm.... Nothing! 😀
- Mark (3/5): Small house, not suitable for people taller than 5’9 due to height of doorways. Really quite out of the way, and the st - Clean Staff knocked on our door and told us to get out early. We still had 45 minutes until checkout, which is unusually early 9:30).
Staff did not announce that they were part of the hotel and scared my wife. This is unacceptable.
- Luis (10/5): The best japanese traditional experience - The traditional design of the house. You can experience the pure japanese domestic essence. The staff was very nice and had a good English level. The railway station close to the apartment is a special line not included in the JR Pass or the Tourist Pass, which makes it a bit uncomfortable to take it.
- Clarissa (9/5): Superb - The beds were very comfortable and the house is a quaint Japanese style house. We are a family of 5 and fit ok. The staff looking after the property are very hospitable and provide excellent and friendly service. It is very well located next to a local station. The house gets cold in winter, the air conditioning works well and solves the problem mainly.
- Alvin (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable, warm and near train station. The staff are accomodating, helpful and friendly.
- Rong (9/5): Great location and close to Haneda airport and shinagawa - Very convenient location right next to a train station. Clean and straight forward layout. Clean. Quiet neighbourhood.
- Supachai (9/5): Very good resident - Location and staff service Owner communications, not so friendly
- Alexis (8/5): Very good -
- Ubaid (8/5): Very good - Warm Ambience, Feels like home.
Near from station Nothing
- Alexander (10/5): I will definitely return!! - Immaculate, spacious and charming little house, a perfect location and a stone's throw from Shinagawa station and local shops. A beautiful shrine at the reception area too. Honestly, on my next trip to japan I'm booking it straight away. The hosts are very friendly and accommodating! Perhaps a few bowls to eat from and a couple more cooking utensils?
- Christine (9/5): Superb - Great location close to train station. Quiet part of town away from too much hectic
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Helpful and friendly staff! Always ready to assist. Very easy check-in. Even offered to dry our clothes for us (since the house only had a washer) and they even folded our clothes and left them in our house. Good and powerful air conditioning system. Really close to the Shimbamba train station (less than 5 minute walk). Plenty of room for a family of four. No complaints.
- Jann (10/5): Great Shinagawa Accomodation - Wonderful well-kept home, very clean . Great staff!
- Fons (10/5): Exceptional - Very very Kind and clean.
Thank you so much
- Sherry (8/5): A classic Japanese interior with added modern twist design, very convenient to Haneda Airport - Thanks to Danki-san for the hospitality. Very helpful. The house interior was impressive. A very Japanese classic home while added a modern twist into the design. My family and I didnt expect the house to be so beautiful. This location is very peaceful and quiet. Although it was quite a distance to the main city like Shibuya etc but it was very convenient if you are on your way back/from Haneda airport. That was why I chose this place as the last stay in Japan before heading back to my country. It was worth it.
- Kendelle (10/5): We would highly recommend this place. Nice neighbourhood. - Great spot, great location, great hosts!
- Elena (10/5): thank you -
- Sukho (8/5): - 아담하고 좋았습니다.
언어 소통은 힘들지만 친절하고 가족이 지내기에는 좋은 곳입니다.
주변에 조용하고 한적해서 좋습니다.
다음번에 또 머물을 예정입니다.
