- Johanna (10/5): Super schöne Umgebung, super nette Gastgeberin. Wärmste Empfehlung! - Die Lage der Unterkunft ist traumhaft, man ist sehr alleine in den Red Stones. Die Gastgeberin ist super nett und zuvorkommend. Sie hat uns so leckeres Essen zum grillen hergerichtet und sehr viel über die Geschichte der Gesteinsarten dort erzählt. Absolute Empfehlung! Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt und ein kostenloses Upgrade bekommen.

- Tom (10/5): Fantastischer Ort in unberührter Natur - Für uns die schönste Unterkunft in zweieinhalb Wochen Südafrika. Die gesamte Farm und Gastgeberin Pedro sind sensationell - unbedingt bekochen lassen. Das Essen wird einem ab 17 Uhr in das jeweilige Cottage geliefert (wenn man später anreist, steht es schon bereit und man kann es in der Mikrowelle erwärmen) und ist ein absolutes Erlebnis, egal ob der Straussen-Gulasch, das Hühnchen oder die vegetarische Variante. Tipp: Pedro fährt einen an einen Ausgangspunkt, von dem man eine traumhafte Wanderung durch die Red Stone Hills machen kann und am Ende wieder auf der Farm ankommt. Der anschließende Sprung in den kühlen Pool war fantastisch (gute zwei Stunden). Der Sternenhimmel ist unübertroffen. ---

Bought wood from Reception - the best wood I've braaied with in a very long time. Very impressive full solar set-up. The stoep is long and cool - a great place to sit and watch birds and the mountains. Fresh cotton linen on the beds. Fans and air conditioning. We just really enjoyed our stay, loved the peace and quiet, and that Karoo feeling.

- Julia (8/5): Gemütlicher, ruhiger Ort zum Entdecken und Entspannen - Wir waren mit unserem Sohn im Ostrich Cottage. Wir hatten alles, was wir brauchten. Wegen eines Unwetters hatten wir einen Stromausfall, der durch den hauseigenen Stromspeicher überbrückt wurde. Es ist nicht alles perfekt, aber die Atmosphäre war wunderbar und wir haben uns sehr wohl und sicher gefühlt! An einem Abend haben wir ein Barbecue bestellt. Das war richtig gut. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr nett und war immer ansprechbar.

- Moore (10/5): I spent a short overnight stay at this beautiful location and would definitely love to return and stay for a few day lon - I loved the location of the cottage, it was extremely peaceful. I loved that both bathrooms had a bath and shower making it easy for all the guests to have the same experience. I also loved the incredible surroundings and all the bird songs filling the air. Nothing, it was perfect! :)

Abends nach dem bestellten außergewöhnlich leckeren Outdoor Braai, das wir bestellt hatten, war es auf der Terrasse wunderschön. Man konnte Tiere mit dem Fernglas beobachten. Die Geräusche der Nacht genießen. Auch das Frühstück im Haupthaus war liebevoll zubereitet und köstlich.

- Grant (10/5): Wonderful cottage - The cottage we stayed in was very charming with lovely views. It was well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The beds were very comfortable as well. Not too far from Oudtshoorn if you needed to pickup and additional food supplies. I would definitely visit again. There is nothing not to like.

- Male (9/5): A lovely stay that is great value for money - Had to hoot three times and ring the bell, fun way to start our stay. Host was extremely friendly, told us about the surrounding area, birds and invited us to use the pool. The peacocks and hardidas in the distance all afternoon and evening were lovely. The sunset and sunrise were amazing. Just the flies, they were very annoying on the patio, but all the doors and window had screens on so there was no problem inside.

The owner changed my booking to one bedroom as I (according to her) only booked for two adults & I don’t need a two bedroom cottage. It took some explaining & more that I was visiting with my colleague and was not planning to sleep in the same bed as her! I did not know that I had to explain myself as to why I am paying for two bedrooms. Booking.com was blamed for the “mistake”, yet I book very often with Booking.com and have been for many years & have never had a problem. I was told on the evening (we arrived in the dark) that pigeons were making nest in the flat roof. This was directly above the bedroom and even after trying to block my ears, I had no sleep whatsoever! This was the Ostrich cottage.

- Elmarie (9/5): Perfect nature getaway - We had 4 splendid days at Red Stone Hills Farm. Petro, the owner, is a perfect host. She gave us the necessary info regarding the two hiking trails and dropped us off at the entrance gate for the Enon Route. We stayed in the spacious "Vineyard" house. Everything was perfect for our stay. Although it is a self-catering accommodation we liked the semi self-catering braai and dinner food options which they offer on the menu. We spoiled ourselves a little bit and twice ordered dinner as well as a buffet farmhouse breakfast. The food was really delicious! There was a good variety of vegetables and salads served with fresh homemade bread and butter with the dinner. Each time the service was excellent! It felt as if we were staying in a hotel :) We enjoyed the quietness on the farm and the scenery of the red sandstone rocks are really magnificent. This farm is a real gem for travellers seeking some rest and a peaceful environment just to relax and enjoy nature. There is 136 bird species on the farm; making it a birder's paradise as well. Thank you to you and your staff members. We will definitely see you again in future for another fresh air farm break-away!

It is just so peaceful and relaxing, there is something in the air that as soon as you get out of the car you just relax. Cottages are lovely, have everything you need, super comfy, and spacious. She was absolutely passionate about the info of the farm's history, geography, and more. The accommodation was exactly what you would expect from a historic farmstay. The rooms were great and had wall heaters for the winter, as well as fans for the summer. The beds and bedding were hotel-grade. The braai facilities (drum braai) were set up on the stoep. (For foreigners, Braai = barbeque... kind of... Stoep means porch) There is also a huge cooking fireplace in the kitchen (as it was in days gone by) and a fireplace in the living room. There were also modern amenities, don't worry. Stove, fridge/freezer, kettle, oven, etc. They have a breakfast menu and Braai menu, where the food is provided. We stayed for a night from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town. I wish we could have stayed a week. The scenery is spectacular and the dirt road (only a couple of km) is very good. A sedan would handle it fine. There is a ton of info on the fauna, flora, and geography in the file on the table. Loadshedding is no problem with solar inverters. I recommend this to everyone who loves nature and farmstays. One of the best (quite possibly THE best) we have had in all our years of booking farmstays. Leaving.
