Guest Reviews
- Tanya (10/5): - Everything was great. Clean, comfortable.
- Christina (8/5): Good value for money - Quiet and peaceful Na
- ARAVIND krishna (4/5): -
- Sonja (8/5): Nice comfortable stay. Room had all the necessities. Comfy bed, good location. - Location
Comfy beds Interior a bit dated
Shower very small
No vineyard views
- Riley (4/5): -
- Sofia (9/5): - We had to book it last minute Friday afternoon as we had issues with Airbnb. Brooke was amazingly helpful and they could prepare our room in 1.5 hours.
Room was very very clean, location is awesome. The shower curtain was a bit tired and the linen had a few minor coffee stains (which I understand are difficult to wash out). However, the room was overall decent for a 3-star hotel, and these were just small details we noticed."
- Mark (7/5): Budget friendly and convenient alternative to conference accommodation - Well appointed and a good nights sleep. Well stocked kitchen - plates, cutlery, corn flakes - to allow for breakfast and comfortable setup. Great to watch the hot air balloons and kangaroos in the morning. Staff were friendly and prompt with helping out. Communication in the lead up to arrival was great. There was no dishwasher and could not find any dishwashing implements to clean up after breakfast.
- Yolanda (9/5): -
- Brenna (10/5): Peaceful and Serene Holiday Lodge - It was a lovely holiday lodge in the hunter valley. We loved watching the kangaroos out in the fields and the place just felt very peaceful and serene. They provided lots of amenities including tea, coffee and even some cereal for breakfast. I highly recommend staying at Harkham lodge! Nothing - it was a lovely stay!
- Mateus (10/5): -
- Burton (5/5): - GOOD LOCATION Clean coffee mugs and utensils
- Kelly (4/5): The outlook is nothing like what the website indicates, we arrived and did not stay - we found alternate accommodation -
- Juliana (4/5): Somewhat disappointing. - Great location (close to all the wineries). Bed was comfy. A lot of kangaroos. It's very expensive for what you get. It's a motel.. not a lodge. Also, the room/bathroom was very stinky. We received vouchers for a free drink with our meal, but we couldn't get a meal from the accomodation's restaurant for the entire time we were there. We were shown away at the door everytime we tried to go, because their kitchen was too overwhelmed (More than half of the restaurant's tables were empty). I then asked if we could atleast stay without ordering food and use the voucher for a drink without the meal (to atleast apologise for the inconvenience), but they said no. The only reason we chose this place was because of the convenience of being able to walk to your accomodation after dinner.
- Garima (9/5): Nice, quite, clean place to spend quality time with family or friends. - The property was nice and clean.. all the necessary amentities were provided. The location was quite good, you can do bbq outside the everything was provided, clear instructions were listed. It was little small space for us.
- Shokoufeh (1/5): -
- JIAYANG (8/5): -
- Tanya (10/5): Nice & quiet - Great location in the heart of the vineyards.
- Sally (9/5): A peaceful comfortable place to experience the Hunter Valley - Rural location, mountain views, friendly staff We only had a tiny problem with a lack of bath towels but this was quickly rectified by the friendly housekeepers.
- Reshma Chand (7/5): - Loved the location.
It was peaceful. The rooms were not noise proof, so I could hear the neighbours.
Also it wasn't that clean, not saying it was dirty but could have at least vacuumed it probably. Could see dead insects around.
- Richard (8/5): - The location was superb for wine tasting and there was kangaroos in the garden!
- Jimmy (8/5): -
- Caitlin (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Great relaxed and scenic location to stay for a Hunter Valley holiday. - Very comfortable well-equipped 2 bedroom unit with loungeroom and kitchen. Lovely views. Cellar door close by. Good value and spacious compared to the posh hotel alternatives nearby.
- Richard (9/5): -
- Michelle (9/5): Great location, and excellent value for money. - Great location and comfortable accommodation. The outside of the building is a little aged, however, the room was very comfortable and clean
- Lily (8/5): -
- Errin (4/5): - Old and run down, unclean with mould in the shower and obvious dirt and grime build up on the walls. Carpet stained and filthy. Cutlery and plates left were dirty and couldn’t use. So many long emails sent with info not relevant to this facility (4 in one day).
- Adam (7/5): Good -
- Steve (7/5): Good -
- Anna (6/5): Harley and Cassie were very helpful and friendly - Watching the kangaroos nearby and bird life was amazing. Saw black cockatoos and heard kookaburras. The TV had no picture, was tiny and had very old technology. After a phone call, to Brooke, the contact person, the Handyman, Harley arrived with a new bigger TV. He was very pleasant and set it up in no time. I was told by Brooke, they had new smart TV’s but hadn’t had time to set them up. As it was a busy weekend, with a large concert close by, I would have thought the new TV’s would have been placed in the rooms.
- Angie (5/5): Convenient locale. - Comfortable bed. Take plenty of mosquitoes after dark, and take repellent. Batteries dead in air con remote. TV had only 2-3 channels available.
- thyse (6/5): - We had a good stay the staff were extremely friendly but we had to change rooms due to the bed having hair all over it then we were moved into a room with a smaller bed as we paid for the bigger bed room
- Sandra (7/5): Location was very peaceful and serene - Basic room and amenities
The restaurant and wine tasting was the highlight
- Benjamin (7/5): Picturesque View! - Clean and tidy rooms, all amenities were serviceable. Location was picturesque and close to our event!
- Fiona (8/5): Comfy, clean and good value - Modern refurb, comfy and clean. Bit off the beaten track.
- Garry (9/5): Superb -
- Amelia (8/5): Very good - The restaurant is lovely for dinner and staff attentive.
- Lindsay (7/5): Good -
- Kye (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (9/5): Amazing stay! - Beautiful grounds! Felt really private and relaxing. Restaurant/winery on site was a bonus!
- Brad (5/5): We stayed here for ballooning. Well located but very basic accommodation. - Well located for access to ballooning. Bookings staff very friendly.
Private and very quiet.
Parking onsite and close to room. Very basic and tired motel-type room. Not a lodge - just lodgings. Broken chair in room. Table and seating in gazebo very dusty - hadn’t been cleaned. No staff onsite so no one to rectify.
- Bowman (8/5): Very good - Small block of units. Nice location Nothing
- Ashlea (6/5): A bit underwhelmed, but suited us for the price and location. Need new beds - It was great to arrive and have the lock box so we were able to go straight into the room. It was nice and peaceful and had a lovely view. The staff were amazing to deal with and when we booked a cab that didn't come, we walked down to the restaurant and the lovely manager downloaded the app and booked us a new cab on his own phone (our batteries were dead due to bringing a dud charger with us) the Bed in room 1 was so incredibly uncomfortable. We rang staff and were moved to room 4, which was better, but still uncomfy. When we were moved to room 4, the TV did not show a picture, only sound. Which made the time in between going out very quiet.
Also, as we are in the region, We headed out to buy some cheese and biscuits to enjoy with a wine. Came back to the room to find not well cleaned wine glasses and no decent knife or board to cut the cheese on. I realise that isn't standard in accommodation. But seeing as we are in the wine region, its a cheap purchase to cater for your guests.
- Drummond (8/5): Very good -
- Shirley (8/5): Convenience, a beautiful rural outlook and even Sunday morning balloons overhead - you can’t ask for much more from a Hu - There’s a lot to be said for eating, wine tasting/drinking and staying within about 100m of each other and Harkham Lodge’s convenient location near Harkham Wines and Italian Restaurant made our stay that much easier. Beautiful outlook too. The property is showing its age a little but still a comfortable stay with all the facilities we needed.
- Ellen (3/5): unpleasant stay. - The staff is amicable! The restaurant's food and facilities are amazing! Overpriced!
This place needs a good renovation. I didn't expect a $399/night deluxe room with the quality of a cheap motel. With my deep respect to the cleaning staff, the wall has cracks, the room has a strong dog smell, the plates were dirty, etc.
- Lena (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (3/5): Not impressed - For the amount of money paid , it wasnt up to standard, the bath had dirt in it , a dead fly , paint coming off the wall and even had a cockroach
- Amy (6/5): Overall good but just little cleanliness things that could be easily taken care of - Easy check in, comfortable beds, good kitchenette, good water pressure, clean towels, fast wifi, great air con There were dead bugs on one of the beds and all over the bathtub. Not alive ones that might’ve crawled in between cleaning and our arrival, but lots of dead ones… feel like this could’ve been an easy vacuum job? The shower curtain will always blow in and stick to you whilst showering which is gross
- Nicholas (8/5): Very good -
- Tristan (10/5): Quiet, quaint, views, simple, easy, cows. - Was very impressed with staff communication. Was next level! Nil
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - View was lovely, nice and quiet.very friendly staff easy checkin
- Keira (9/5): I can't wait to go back! - The location and views were amazing. The staff were friendly, down to earth and super accommodating. It's quiet, just off the main roads and felt very boutique-y.
- Shirley (7/5): A nice stay but not as luxurious as I had thought would be, but then wasn't sure what was to expecy - Rustic location. Access to restaurant & wine tasting @ door. Excellent staff @ restaurant & winery. Very friendly and helpful.
Helpful checkin email instructions and available contact if needed.
Nice touch with provision cereal for breakfast.
Clean. No Offer of daily services, eg towels.. Ok but guess if not should have extra linen should we be less green.
- Roberta (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (8/5): Beautiful views and quiet location - Easy check-in. Convenient location, close to wineries and great being next to the new restaurant at Harkham. Comfy bed. Beautiful view and peaceful. The rooms are not sound proof at all, can hear talking next door or outside. Not many car parking spots if its a busy time. No privacy on the little patio (not that it was an issue for us) but if you dont want to greet your neighbours or listen to each others conversations maybe not ideal. Tv didnt work.
- Tim (8/5): Had a great time will definitely be back - It was very peaceful Nothing
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Mim (9/5): We had a wonderful 2 night stay at Harkham Lodge. Definitely recommend. - The location was great. Close to everything. Bed super comfy. Outlook from the back is beautiful to watch the sky and cows And kangaroos. A beautiful place. Tv doesn’t have a lot of channels and it’s quite small. No extra blankets and pillows if you need it as it’s quite cold.
- Mauro (6/5): Pleasant -
- Marysia (10/5): Perfect getaway - Beautiful lodging with a stunning scenic view.
- Sarah (8/5): Great place to stay. Good value for money. Staff were lovely and welcoming. - Nice and quiet whilst we were the only people there. Loved seeing the kangaroos every morning and afternoon. Great location. When other people stayed you can hear them in the next room
- Ciara (9/5): Cosy little place for a peaceful stay up a quiet country lane. Great for Kangaroo spotting! - The room had everything and was very cosy with a comfy bed! Including a complimentary bottle of wine from their winery! It is self check in but Vicki messaged us to let us know she was available if we needed anything. The view from the room is lovely with lots of Kangaroos in the next field to watch. It was very peaceful. It isn't far from the main area, we were able to walk to wineries close by. Nothing!
- Thomas (7/5): Nice and quiet clean quite basic but that was expected - Nice and quiet
Restaurant nearby Quite basic
- Kim (8/5): Lovely 2 night Getaway - Quiet and Peaceful location
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Kirsty (9/5): Great location and value for money. - Location, beautiful looking onto the fields, easy for taxis to wineries. Complementaries in the room were fabulous. Great compact modern bathroom. Kitchen facilities in the room were better than expecting . Really recommend! Lost water in the morning we were leaving- thankfully not a massive problem. No wifi and old TV for channels for the downtime we had, only there a couple nights however.
- Nassim (1/5): Bad - The property is ok but it has been about 2 months that I have been asking for an invoice and they are not sending it. I am even not sure if they are a registered business because of it. My company won’t reimburse my payments without invoice and because of this property I am still out of pocket for my stay . Be very careful with them.
- Silvia (9/5): Enjoyable, definitely going back. - Lovely views. Quiet place, cozy. Friendly staff. No Wi-Fi. Found coffee cups dirty.
- Lesley (7/5): Pretty scenery, Enjoyable, comfortable & friendly. - The peaceful environment, nice free bottle of wine & free breakfast pouches Everything as expected
- Jessica (8/5): Very good - Rooms were comfortable with complimentary wine. Yummy
- Georgina (9/5): Superb - The location was excellent and very central to so many Pokolbin wineries. The staff were lovely and very communicative, and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to the Hunter Valley. The only downside is that we wished there had been WiFi.
- Gemma (10/5): A great place to unwind and enjoy a wine as dusk falls - Beautiful outlook, so peaceful yet not very far from the wineries and restaurants.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Aaron (8/5): Very good - Television in Room 4 was not working properly. No wifi.
- Ellie (9/5): really practical and easy place to stay for a Hunter visit - super clean and comfy nothing
- Virginia (8/5): Value for money - Very cozy., clean location
- Joanne (6/5): Not that great - The outlook from property is nice and it's really quiet. After driving for 8 hours from QLD arriving at 6.30pm we were unable to get into the property as the lock box which held the key we could not open. Tried contacting the owner after 20 or so phone calls no response. Very frustrating. We had to go to a pub and wait until we finally got hold of owner who had to bring another key to the property. The shower is terrible and the water smells mouldy.
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jessica (9/5): Superb -
- Simone (10/5): As the sign at the front says "Heaven" - The property is secluded away from large numbers of people so is whisper quiet. If you are looking to relax and watch the sun set while drinking some wine this is the perfect spot!
It is well looked after and clean. The room I stayed in #2 was a simple motel style room with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. There are other rooms with larger kitchens etc but I didn't need that. Breakfast cereal is provided and I was lucky enough to enjoy a complimentary bottle of the Harkham Rose which was amazing!
Value for money but not the right place if you're looking for resort style facilities (no spa ladies!). Perfect place to gather a large group of family or friends for a BBQ with plenty of space for the kids to play.
It was also well worth a walk over to see Matt at the cellar door because I stocked up on a pretty impressive 2023 Semillon and the chocolate liqueur is to die for!!!!
Vicky is incredibly helpful and arranged a late checkout at the last minute because I decided to book a hot air balloon flight. For me the mattress was a little on the firm side but then again I'm a pretty fussy sleeper.
- Blayne (10/5): Exceptional - Location was close to everything, but still felt secluded
- Linda (6/5): Pleasant - The cereal offered for breakfast had expired in December 2023, in both mine and my daughters rooms
- Mitchell (9/5): Superb -
- Con (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rubi (5/5): Passable - The staff are friendly and helpful.
It was nice to see the Kangaroos, that's nice. Price is too expensive for the quality of the room.
Talking to one of the guests next door to us and he said the same thing, too expensive.
He reckons the room is like staying in a backpacker.
I don't think I am staying there again 😕
- Jan (7/5): Did the job and close to all wineries. - Property was a little tired but was clean and comfortable, Nice little offering in the fridge Breakfast cereal on bench out of date.
Need ceiling fans in bedrooms.
- Christopher (7/5): Motel rooms in a good position - Well positioned. Very basic but good Aircon.
Not really much good for cooking anything unless you use the BBQ which was good, but you need to bring your own matches!
If it's quiet the kangaroos are there in numbers. It was rainy when we were there so maybe that helped. They are all over the place! Loads of bird life too. We were there first week of February and were the only ones in a room so very private. I'm not sure how it would feel when full. Nobody round there has WiFi, (even Peterson's restaurant ) but theres good 4G phone signal so data use on phones is fine.
This is a basic motel like place, and if you accept that you'll be happy.
- Wayne (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable. Sitting outside on deck drinking wine and watching wild kangaroos was great. Winery staff were very helpful Driving to restaurants for meals but was not too far
- Brittany (10/5): I would highly recommend - Very good location, close to everything and beautiful view when you walk out the back, nice big kitchen and friendly staff There was no aircon in the room, however if you leave the door open you some cool flowing from the dining area just on the really hot summer nights wasn’t unbearable just something to keep in mind :)
- Nico (7/5): Simple accommodation & great for BBQ with Wine - Windarra Lodge is a simple and clean accommodation with a few rooms. There is no reception or front desk, you can pick up the key from a lockbox next to the room.
The guests have access to BBQ facilities. We got ourselves some steak from a local butcher for a nice dinner with some local wine. You have bit of cutlery, steak knive, wine glasses in the room.
The team running the place is lovely, very friendly. Thank you! The pictures of the accommodation show that there used to be a restaurant or bar in one of the neighboring buildings. This looks like it is under renovation and is (currently) not available for guests.
- Deyda (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional - The bed / mattress
- Luke (8/5): For the value, good enough. But not incredible. - It was clean, in a great location and the beds were comfy enough. I think the room was a little small, plus because they used potted water I would’ve liked more water bottles in the fridge as it was really hot during my stay.
- Rebbeca (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (8/5): Would have been an exceptional stay if only wifi was available - Location was great. No wifi
- Robyn (7/5): Good - definitely need a car, taxi into Singleton too expensive, but staff are lovely.
- Geoffrey (8/5): Value for a bed for the night - Small motel rooms, but very clean and adequate for a weekend away. Rooms are basic but comfortable. We were only there to sleep, so it fitted the bill. No wifi available
