• Telisa (2/5): Nightmare - The hotel was overbooked after I had already made reservations weeks ahead. I received a phone call 5 minutes upon arrival to advise me that they were overbooked. The receptionist were as helpful as they could be. The manager refused to come to the hotel to answer any questions. There were several customers without rooms. There were not enough towels in the rooms. One guest room had blood on their sheets and they were told they had no sheets to replace them. There were spit balls on the ceiling and mold in the bathroom of one guest room. They were told there was nothing they could do about. I spoke with the manager on the phone and he claimed he had only taken over the hotel a week ago and had no idea the hotel was in this condition and that they had overbooked. There were no hotels within 30 minutes with available rooms. This was a complete nightmare. We had 9 guest. I booked 2 rooms and 1 was available. We had to put air mattresses that we purchased in the 1 room because we had no where else to go. I was very upset and disappointed with this hotel.
• Donna (2/5): - The motel was the worst I've ever had to stay in. The rooms were supplied with NOTHING. No phones in the entire building worked. The elevator didn't work. There was no coffee in the whole building. The staff was doing the best they could, but had so many complaints they couldn't keep up. Soiled linens, and when we asked for different ones, we were told there were no clean ones available at that time.
• ellen (2/5): - Upon arrival I was told they overbooked and I had no room. I booked 6 weeks in advance. They offered a king room, which I accepted. The room was covered in mold. I asked to see manager. He refused to return to property or speak to me on phone. The staff on all shifts were very nice. There were many people who had no room. The elevator stopped working. We were on 2nd floor but more elderly were on 3rd having to carry luggage down stairs. My son had booked a room several days after me. His room had no blankets on beds and no towels. He was given comforters for the beds and hand towels because they were out of regular towels. It takes 4 handtowels for a man over 6 feet tall to dry off after a shower. The manager was supposed to be in by 7:30 the next morning. He hadn't shown up by 8:03 when I checked out. We came to town for the rodeo, which was 40 minutes away. There were no rooms any closer. My son drove from FL. I wrote a statement for the manager with my email and phone number. I have not been contacted. My pictures don't really do this horror justice.

• Jan (2/5): - We opened the door to our room and were greeted by a roach. But, we live in the south, it’s starting to get cold - so we were forgiving. The room smelled musty/moldy and there appeared to be mold/mildew growing on the walls and the lampshades. It’s the Deep South near the end of summer and there is clearly no dehumidifier, nor is there an exhaust fan in the restroom. Again, willing to look past it. Waking up the next morning to several more roaches in the room, however, is what did it. Snapped a picture of one just outside the closet, but when I went to get my daughter’s shirts out of the closet there were about a dozen that scattered up the back wall. We WILL NOT be staying here again - EVER! I will pay quadruple the price to stay in an AirBnB next time. And - due to the nature of our trip - there will be a next time 😕 Basically, the only thing the new owners have done is paint. They’ve done NOTHING to address the actual issues in the building (excess moisture, lack of ventilation, piss-poor cleaning staff) and I’m tired of wasting my money and not even being able to get a good night’s rest before a long day of activities.

• Kari (4/5): - The towels at the hotel are the worst quality that I have ever seen in a hotel. They are like sandpaper. The thermostat in the room would not change. It was set to 65 degrees. The cooling system was very effective. Unfortunately, the bedding included a sheet and a go

• Ken (2/5): Not a good place to stay! - The place was not very clean. The bed only had a sheet without any mattress pad the bottom sheet felt like it was crawling all night long. Only had decaf coffee in the room. 1 small bar of soap. No shampoo only conditioner and lotion. Found some one else shirt in the room so we wondered if the room was cleaned very well. The bathroom floor felt wet and slippery. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The room we ended up in had sticky floors, everything was wet from humidity, and it still was not completely clean. There were several doors on our floor propped open which felt very unsafe. I would not have stayed if I was by myself.

First room they put me in had a crack about 2” directly to the outside and wasps were coming into the room. I spoke to someone staying there and she said all rooms smelled like mildew and she had to change rooms as well.

• Trisha (2/5): - I so wanted to like this hotel because it would be a good fit for us as we have family in the are area and overflow could stay here but the lobby was so warm it was a little concerning. The staff at the front desk had a fan at his computer blowing on him to circulate air. We got to our floor and the hall had no air conditioning on in the hall running. The smell of mildew when we opened our door to our room was so horrible that we were shocked. We lowered the a/c cause the humidity in the room was so high that the tile floor was damp to walk on. We were tired and it was late so we thought if we lower the a/c enough it would air out the room eventually. We showered (no towels, had to get front desk to run us some) and jumped in bed and the smell never left! Our daughter was down the hall and experienced the same type of situation. Regrettably we stayed but it's a small town and no other vacancies for the 4th of July night. We woke the next morning and the hall of the hotel had still very little air circulating and had a mini split down by the elevator not working dripping water. It's a shame cause the hotel seems to be not in bad shape but the hotel needs to have better air conditioning system in place or run the system like it needs to be to circulate air and keep mold/mildew away. We live in high humidity environment where those type of issues need to have properly working air conditioning systems to keep mold and mildew away.

• Michael (6/5): - The building had major damage to the room next to ours due to an accident that I was told had happened almost a month earlier. Our room was open to outside air due to this damage and due to the humidity everything was wet and moldy. There was hardly no hot breakfast due to employee was on the phone over 45 minutes. People were taking pictures of the empty containers and no cups, bowls or plates. The manager on duty would not help correct the issue. I would not recommend this Hotel to any body.

Then it would've been really late to transfer, because we didnt leave to go have supper til after 5 and there was still no room clean. Originally reserved a King room, upon arrival, no kings available, really dirty pool, just not a very good experience this trip. It was my husband's birhday getaway and i feel i shouldve been reimbursed at least one night due to the experience.

• Herk66 (4/5): Not a Good Stay - We have stayed in this hotel in years past and enjoyed our stay. When we drove up we noticed that the grass needed mowing. Also, a car had run into the corner of the hotel and it was covered with black plastic. We got to our room and had one towel. We had to go to the desk and ask for another towel, washcloths and hand towels. The room had an odd smell and was very cold. Had a hard time adjusting the thermostat. No blankets on the bed. Sheet & thin polyester topper. Walked over to look out the window & noticed that the carpet near the air conditioner was soaking wet. The only positive was that the breakfast was good. We were scheduled for two nights but left after one. Would not recommend unless they do a lot of maintenance and cleaning.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Terrrible Hotel - This hotel went downhill DRASTICALLY! We thought, under new management and a new brand, it would start to improve but I feel like it has gotten worse. The only reason we stay here is because there are literally NO other options as close to the multi-use arena as this one and the nature of our visits require us to be close by. This is literally one of the WORST hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

• Karen (10/5): Acceptable - I was all we needed, a warm, comfortable, clean place to sleep. There wasn’t a TV remote; however, I didn’t inquire about one. We used the buttons on the TV.
• Alycee (6/5): Rough - Booked my stay through Hotels.com; got a call a few days before that the room was no longer available. They did accommodate me after I asked how Wyndham was going to compensate me for lost money and for not being able to participate in the race that brought me to the area. The room was not clean. There were toothpaste splashes on the bathroom mirror, and the desk/nightstand/tv surfaces had fingerprints all over. There was mildew on the ceiling in the lobby, as well.
• Hortman55 (2/5): Terrible hotel in New Roads - This hotel is in terrible condition! Check in took forever! When we got our room, there was used towels and shampoo bottles in bathroom. The air vent was filthy. No light cover in bath-just bulbs hanging. The toilet seat top was yellow like someone had urinated on it. The toilet seat had worn wood spots on it and one of our pillows had dirt spots on!
• Tracie (10/5): - Fast service. Needed another pillow and blanket, front desk clerk brought it right away. Breakfast was so good! Plenty of decisions on what to eat and drink. No complaints period!!
• Larry (4/5): - If you expect a greeting at this hotel, don't. If you expect to check in even 60 seconds in advance, don't. Expect to mill around the entrance with other guests until they decide it's precisely 3.
• Elizabeth (8/5): - Very comfortable room, bed and pillows are soft. Air conditioning very cold which is a reprieve from the heat of the day. Recommendation would be to have a blanket available in the closet since the bedding is just a flat sheet and very light coverlet. We tried asking for the blanket but it appeared that only one person was on duty working the hotel and she appeared very busy. Other than that it was a comfortable stay.

My second room was nasty smelled like mold and mildew, and there was bugs. The room was not cleaned. Will never stay there again. Don’t recommend this for anyone my party of the second room left and went home because I could not stand to stay in the nasty room
• Shawna (2/5): - This place was horrible. Our door was unlocked when we got there which was very scary. My husband had to clear the room before we could go in. The AC was stuck on freezing and leaking water all over the floor. There was no refrigerator. There was no television remote. There were no blankets. The breakfast was horrible. I've never stayed at a place this bad. I would like to know how to request a refund. We contacted the on-site property managers at the time with all of our problems and they refused to do anything

• Jan (6/5): Seriously…Do better! - The front desk staff was very friendly, but the housekeeping staff could do better. The room was obviously not cleaned prior to our arrival. There was a visible layer of dust over every surface, including bathroom shelves and counters. The carpet stained our socks black and the little amount of tile in the room was sticky.

There were only two towels and one tiny bar of soap for both the sink and the shower. And there was no waste basket. Overall it was a good stay.

• John (2/5): Awful stay - We booked a week in advance; king bed room NS; upon arrival to the hotel to check in We were told by a rude clerk that we had to settle for 2 queen beds because they overbooked & others arrived before us so they gave our reserved room away. Once in the room there was only a tiny bit of toilet paper on the roll, one tissue in the tissue box & 2 towels so I had to go down to the lobby to get more. Once I returned to the room I proceeded to the shower were I discovered the shower curtain was moldy & dirty. The water saver was so bad on the shower head it took 35 minutes just to shower. About 12 midnight there was loud music playing to the point we were unable to sleep until after 3am. I would not recommend this Wyndham Gardens New Roads and will hesitate to book at a Wyndham Garden again. Obviously they have done there own reviews.
• jasontD3341QG (2/5): Customer service: Shady, Worst of the Worst - Was supposed to be at this hotel for 35 days, for work. Hotel in itself was OK, nothing great, nothing horrible, except for a few morning with no hot water. Now the BAD: customer service is the worst of the worst!! After day 21, I return after a 12 hour shift to find my room packed up; clothes refrigerator contents and all. They chalked it up to lack of communication on their part and did reimburse me for the food that at that point sat out all day. It doesn't end; upon rebooting, rooms rates have now gone up rough $50 per night. I question this with no success. I needed a place to stay, so stayed one more night. My credit card was billed an overage of almost $1000. Think I can get anyone (i guess the managers name is "Willie", or at least that's how the desk personel know him) to call me back to resolve this? No, I try reaching out numerous times for a week, with nothing but a constant run around. Leaves me with no other option but to dispute charges with my CC company. Absolute nightmare of a stay, and I will recommend people to find someplace else to stay if in the New Roads area.

• Verified traveler (6/5): Not terrible but wouldn’t recommend - The two rooms we booked were not cleaned thoroughly. One room had sunflower seed shells on the floor, a bug in the sink and one in the closet (roach, water bug). The other room had used shampoo and soap in the bathroom.

• Ronda (2/5): Dirty and Roaches - not acceptable! - Check in person was very nice and accommodating. Room was dirty, I killed three roaches in the first 5 minutes I was there. Receptionist did give us another room, which meant we had to move all of our thing and settle back in. Arrived in the next room with the tv blaring, no towels, no blow dryer, shampoo or soap. The beds were made but that was it. I don’t even want to think about if they were clean or not. I’m pretty sure it had been a while since the blankets were changed. I do a lot of traveling and this is not the first time I have bees disappointed at a your Wyndham hotels. I thought I’d give it another chance. It was terrible, and I will never stay at any of your Wyndham hotels again.

• Mitchell (8/5): Rodeo - It was an easy place for us to stay on our annual trip to the Angola prison rodeo. The room did have an unpleasant smell so we used an oil diffuser and that took care of it. The Mexican restaurant by the hotel is very good

• John (2/5): - Room 314 had mold on the walls. Tables hadn’t been wiped down, curtains had something stuck on them. Went down and got another room, 301 which was pretty much the same. Wasn’t cleaned well, bath tub had hair in it and tooth paste splatter on the mirror.

• Jandolph11 (2/5): Terrible stay for the second time. Stay elsewhere!! - I don’t know what happened to this hotel, but it has gone downhill…and FAST! This is the only hotel in town, so we usually stay here 2-4 times a year. However, after our last 2 stays I refuse to ever stay here again! There was rust on the lamps, mold/mildew covering an entire corner of the room, the air conditioner leaked, and the staff “couldn’t do anything about it.” We called around for other accommodations but there were two big events in town that weekend so there weren’t any within a 30-minute drive. We had a terrible experience last time we stayed here but decided to give them another chance. They WILL NOT be getting a third chance.
• 654wbp (2/5): Worst Western - Would not stay at this hotel unless no other option. Multiple issues with broken/missing door hardware. Unable to engage room’s deadbolt and safety latch broken. Unable to access hotel using room card. Bathroom light had burned out light bulbs, no washcloths, room was hot as thermostat set high, had stale/moldy odor. Hotel finishes and furnishings were tired and facility is in need for renovations.
• Wenchie1447 (6/5): Ok experience. - My son got married in New Roads and this is the only hotel. First off the people working there were perfect and helpful. The hotel is in need of some updating in the rooms. All the wedding guests complained that the ac hardly worked and it was damp and musty in every room. The musty and damp smell permeates everything. Also if the room is double occupancy why only 2 bath towels? Women wrap their hair after showers. (UGH)

• venessau2024 (2/5): The housekeepers do not clean the rooms at time - The service and cleanliness is horrible . We had to change rooms because the plug attached to the lamp came out and almost electrocuted me and burned my arm and blew out all the other lamps in the room. The front desk person just put me in another room. Didn’t even ask it I was ok. The time before this stay we had to change rooms cause the person didn’t clean the room and we had a bloody blanket on the bed…the service is like a motel but they are charging hotel prices so sad. This place is to new to look the way it looks

• Horace (6/5): - During our stay, we found the employees to be polite however, the cleanliness of the facilities was severely lacking. The pool area was never cleaned, and there were never any towels available for our family of five. When we requested the pool area to be cleaned, the process was haphazard and nothing was actually cleaned properly. The pool water was dirty and the bathroom near the pool was in dire need of a deep cleaning. Additionally, rooms that had been checked out of were not cleaned and the doors were left open for other guests to see. The overall lack of sanitation is alarming. My entire family fell ill, likely due to the poor hygiene standards. The manager needs to conduct a thorough walk-through of the premises instead of just sitting at the desk on his phone. I took the time to observe the situation before writing this review because I understand the impact that reviews can have on a business. I want other parents to be aware that this hotel is not suitable for families with children, given the unsanitary conditions.

• Jaime (2/5): Do not recommend - We were unable to stay in the hotel due to the condition. The first room we were given keys to was occupied. The second room had black mold on the ceiling and bathroom. The third and final room had dirty bed sheets where a used toothpick was found in a made bed.
• jamier3219 (2/5): Disgusting - Mold in air conditioner. Drty pillows and blankets. Stool on toilet in pool side bathroom. I was charged extra which I was not told that I would be charged. When I went down to the front desk the guy told me that there is usually a sign in the front where you check in at that says that there is an extra fee for damages that will be "dropped" later once you're checked out. Those fees have not been dropped off of my charge.
• Anthony (8/5): - Our stay was good. However, the bathtub was very slippery, and my wife almost slipped when stepping into the tub to take a shower. How about placing some safety mats in the tubs and have them checked regularly. The rooms could be upgraded to include charging stations for electronics. Also, how about upgrading the interaction of each guest with onscreen announcements about their stay such as their bill, checkout time, etc. Include HBO and other channels for movies.
• Kat_CG1234 (4/5): Not great - Towels in room had stains; pool had dirt and green tint; room had a leak into the hallway (so bad that when you walked out the room door, your foot “squished” in the carpet) and when reported to the front desk, nothing was done and the response was “oh that might be from the 3rd floor”(as if it was a known issue); front desk worker was asleep for 30+ minutes at the desk and often missing from the desk; breakfast was from 7-10, but they stopped putting new food out around 9; etc. The location of the hotel is good for the town, and the staff that greeted us upon arrival (perhaps the weekday staff?) was very friendly and helpful.
• missprosperous (2/5): 2nd worse hotel ever stayed in - Room 203 smells like mildew/mold. Room 204 didn’t sleep comfortably and room had broken lamp shades, linen didn’t smell washed and had a brown stain, scrapes on the wall, floor dirty and wet.
• Andre (2/5): - The facility checked us in without telling us the hot water was broke and had been for almost a week prior to us checking in. Absolutely absurd! Bed was terrible and no warm shower. Definitely deserve a refund!
• stevemooney380 (2/5): NO Hot water - The Hotel is nice but has issues due to the water heater was out also the Ice machine was not working and the last day the coffee machine was empty and served nothing but hot water. Staff had no idea how to add more coffee.
