- Verified traveler (2/5): - WiFi was not working during our entire stay 🙄 breakfast is mediocre.
- Melanie (4/5): - The only reason why I didn’t leave during my stay was because everything was paid in full, and I wasn’t in the mood to deal with the refund issues. During our entire stay the WiFi was not working...and when we asked it was always “they are working on fixing it.” Some of the staff need more training in customer service.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!! Staff couldn’t care less. Hotel was full of prostitutes so we asked to terminate our reservation and cut our stay short. I gave 48 hours notice that we were leaving. Hotel has refused to refund the rest of my stay, costing me over $750. I spent a month trying to get the money back. Owner eventually said he would refund after I involved a local community member, but I never received the refund.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is kind, it’s close to shoppin Mall and sososo bus terminal. The bed is big, room is clean. I wanted to go early morning to Mzuzu, but I didn’t catch taxi, but the staff bring my bag to bus terminal by walk as same price. I misunderstood with Clown lodge, it’s seems different accommodation, should be careful especially arriving at night time. The pot didn’t work, a bit loudly music neighbor on weekend.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Crown hotel is located strategically in heart of the business district of the town. The staff are excellent and hospitable people. The building and the facilities require overhauling and regular maintenance. I battled with mosquitoes, ants, and cockroaches throughout the stay. They however provided mosquitoe net for me to sleep in. There is a restaurant with limited choice of menu especially for international guests. Breakfast was average but they need to upgrade their cooking skills. The eggs! There is no bar for relaxation in the evening which makes life boring. Overall, I'll rate my stay average.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Hardly anything functional - This was a terrible stay. The air-con was at 25C and could not be adjusted - it did not recognise remote control and could not be adjusted manually. I called reception at 8 pm and again at 8.15 pm but the person who was supposed to attend to it did not. I fell asleep and woke up at 11 pm with noise in the corridor and feeling hot. Someone came and tried a couple of remotes and said they do not work. The TV remote control did not work There was a fridge but it did not work. Could connect on wifi but so slow it was useless I was on the 1st floor and there were many people talking in the corridor around 11 pm. Not sure how often this happens - it was a Sunday night. In the early hours, someone knocked on my door several times and when I opened the door, he apologised for mistaking rooms. There were a few insects in the bathroom. There were mosquitoes in the room but a bednet was provided. At one point, for about 15 minutes, electricity went off and it was dark for a while. There was also a problem with the toilet flush with water continuously flowing from the tank to the bowl. At 11.30pm after complaining, the dutty manager offered to move me to another room but I refused as it did not want to repack and re-unpack everything at this time. I requested a fan which was provided. It is not unusual that 1 or 2 things do not work but here there were only one or two things which were OK like hot water! It was within walking distance of a shopping centre, supermarkets,etc
- Verified traveler (4/5): Uncomfortable place - I came back after one day as per my booking. I had left a piece of luggage for storage and I received it back without any problem. Staff polite but as in my stay 2 days earlier, the air-con did not work. At least this time, I was informed at check-in there was a problem with the air-con and a big fan had been provided. Interestingly, two days earlier when I had complained to the duty manager there were so many problems, he promised me a good room when I come back. I said "I'll believe it when I see it". Unfortunately, I was right to be skeptical about his "promise". Clearly there are many rooms with defective air-con or they have no understanding of customer service or just do not care behind the polite talk and smiles..
- Michelle (8/5): Good room, WiFi and breakfast - Great location walking distance from ShopRite grocery store, mini shopping mall with plenty of restaurants. The hotel is 5 minute walk to Coffee Hill Spa. The room was spacious and had a balcony, stong wifi in room, cable TV, air conditioning, refrigerator. Shower had rainfall showerhead. The restaurant serves great breakfast. I did not try other meals or their travel service.
