Guest Reviews
- John (9/5): - Have stayed here many times. Like the sea views offered by many rooms and the view from the dining room. One of the best locations in Sidmouth. Food is excellent and prompt. Scarcity of parking is a nuisance altho haven’t had any problems thus far in the public car park.
- Jean (9/5): Lovely break from daily life very enjoyable stay - Comfortable bed and room very clean and tasteful and had been well thought out
Staff helpful and friendly Bed duvet could have been lighter a bit too warm
Bath had no handrail to enable getting out
- Nik (8/5): Great location and bright modern decor but still had character. - The location was great, the hotel was very bright and clean and airy. The spa was very nice. The terrace had a lovely view and again was modern and very nice. The room was comfortable but small, bed was huge and very comfortable, bathroom was functional but small, shower was lovely and hot. But we were only there for one night so not an issue for us. The complimentary gin in the room was a nice touch. Only that the room was small.
- Alison (10/5): Fab location great facilities highly recommend. Would love to go back when the sun is shinning - The stay wa snooker for my parents 80th birthdays. They had a fab room with a sea view and everything they needed. Great location. Highly recommend The weather 🤭
- Caroline (8/5): - Breakfast very good
Room ok some little niggles Parking very limited and car park opposite expensive for a 3 day stay
Shower over bath was a little difficult to climb in and out off
- Andrew (7/5): - It is well positioned, clean, great views, and a small but pleasant spa. There was a wedding, so our very expensive evening meal in the lovely restauarnt had a soundscape that resembled an Ibiza nightclub. The thud of the bass was unbearable, and ruined the meal. Couldn't wait to get back out of there for some peace and quiet
- Ali (10/5): -
- Turner (4/5): Once out the bedroom the place is fairly okay just very disappointing - The view was great The bedrooms were tatty in a lot of areas the bathroom is on its last legs and the and you can clearly see things have just constantly been tarted over and over without replacing or fully renewing to save on putting new appliances or refurbishing the bath tap leaking silicon pealing away everywhere with multiple layers the walls behind the sink have separated leaving holes
- Julie (9/5): A special stay in Sidmouth Harbour hotel. - Lovely room with very comfortable bed. Great staff.
- James (9/5): -
- Niall (9/5): Lovely Location overlooking Sidmouth Beach - Great location, wonderful views, staff were very friendly and attentive Not enough staff on duty for breakfast so the service was quite slow
- Devon (9/5): -
- Jamie (4/5): Sadly a massive wedding on all weekend. Many very drunk, loud guests. Shame we were not warned beforehand. -
- stephanie (7/5): - Liked the location. Facilties good, but lift very small and difficult to get into.
My husband has mobilty issues so cant always use the stairs.
- Rose (10/5): A great place to stay our second year there. Would highly recommend this hotel. - Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Nothing
- Dennis (7/5): - Location Smell in bathroom and no face cloths the second day.
- ken (9/5): All very good - Most things The check in process
- John (10/5): A very enjoyable 4 days despite the shortcomings of the building itself. We will be going again! - All the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. The food was exceptional. The first room we were given was very small and claustrophobic but they changed it to a better one. This was close to the air conditioning for the spa so not quiet. The noise from the room above was also a problem which is why we left early.
- Carmel (4/5): Disappointing visit - The spa was excellent. The staff were extremely helpful and made the spa experience a great one. You cant see the receptionist behind the ridiculously high counter! Not her fault but not very welcomjng. The housekeeping staff need extra training
to pay attention to detail. It was not pleasant on arrival, to find the bathroom had not been properly cleaned.
Please encourage all the waiters to smile.😁 It makes such a difference.
- Peter Michael (10/5): Totally satisfied with my birthday venue! - The staff at this hotel were first class ! Warm & friendly & always available to assist The hotel has a brilliant East Coast USA feel. Fun & relaxed atmosphrre
- Karen (9/5): I enjoyed the location in Sidmouth and friendly helpful staff / also rxceptionallly clean except the spa which needs - Friendly staff
Clean
Comfortable At the weekend there was no parking available so I had to pay for parking outside
The Health Spa needs updating : peeling paint and dirty grout
Paying £10 extra for breakfast when breakfast was included seemed very misleading
The bedrooms in the attic area are very hot and there was no fan or air conditioning
Heavy doors tending to bang loudly
- Evita (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again - Location
Comfortable bed Not welcoming at reception
Staff at breakfast ditto and not efficient
- Valerie (9/5): Lovely hotel not keen on sidmouth - We had a free upgrade at breakfast which was very welcome. Not getting a full pint off beer to much frof . And paying top prices.
- Don (10/5): - Lovely location brilliant staff Dogs allowed in hotel
- Bernard Martyn (10/5): Very nice - Liked everything Nothing could have been better
- Sharon (8/5): - The location was excellent. The staff was amazing, and if I needed anything, they responded quickly and provided excellent service. We went with my father-in-law and his partner. In their room, they had trouble with the toilet water system in room 5. It was reported but unfortunately wasn't repaired on our trip!
We paid for two rooms. Room 15 was excellent, and we were very happy with it. Room 5 had an amazing view, but the bathroom was cozy, and the shower was excellent, though the toilet water system was an issue.
Room 15: exceptional
Room 5: good
Reception was excellent and responded to our request for ice very quickly.
Loved our complimentary gin and tonic; it went down a treat. Thank you.
- Mark (9/5): Great hotel, perfect location, good food and great staff - Staff were excellent Some areas in our room required some TLC or refurb, areas both in or room and in the spa area could have been cleaner
- Nigel (8/5): Good weekend break walking South West Coast Path. - Well located hotel with high standards of cleanliness and customer service. Room was small but adequate but, the bathroom was too small.
- Stefano (8/5): -
- Carole (5/5): Disappointing - Position My room had to be changed as it was extremely small with no luggage table. The replacement room was in outside courtyard and a good size but had no heating. Only in the bathroom with heated towel rail. The tv was at an awkward angle on a side wall. The upper window was half open and stuck so it was very cold all night with wind blowing in.
- Andtew (6/5): Food and the staff not very good - Pools room None
- Rachel (10/5): -
- Joanna (9/5): - Great location and an elegant room.
Delicious breakfast!
- Susan (9/5): Excellent apart from my dining experience - It was bright and airy. With good facilities staff were nice and friendly
On booking a Sunday roast I chose pork with apple sauce no apple sauce was given I asked twice for apple sauce nobody brought any on finishing my meal I was asked was everything ok
I said disappointed no apple sauce and she said abruptly we don’t have any !! And that was that See above
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Andy (5/5): Very disappointed with our experience - Great location There was a wedding there on Saturday but the trouble started on the Friday afternoon where the guests started to arrive. It was very noisy in the bar area and took time to get our drinks where I felt hotel guests should have got priority. We were unable to stay in the bar area and have a quiet drink to read our books because of the noise and it wasn’t just us that were forced to move. Then when we came down for our evening meal we originally sat by the window and had to move because of the noise and overall rowdiness, shouting across the room with not a care in the world. We also told the waiter we had moved expecting our food to be brought to the right table instead it was taken to where we were originally sitting and eaten by them and had to say again that we had not received our starter! Not only that, they were smoking/vaping in the restaurant and surrounding areas where this I thought was a no smoking hotel! We could not enjoy our meal and had to move fairly quickly because of the noise! Unable to stay around the bar area and enjoy a drink after our meal we had to return to our room. We avoided the hotel all day and evening on the Saturday as we knew what it would be like and when we returned we were not wrong. It was such a lovely day but we were unable to enjoy the terrace as the wedding guests had taken over. I can understand people want to enjoy a wedding but I felt it would have been better suited if they had their own separate area. Finally I paid for a superior double with a balcony but was really disappointed with the balcony as it was about the size of a postage stamp with a wooden partition that needed a lick of paint and the patron set was wet and didn’t dry out the whole time we were there. We spoke to a couple of guests outside the hotel and they were say the same as us. We have stayed at the Harbour Spa Hotel a few times and not had any issues before, but overall this has tainted out opinion and may think twice again about returning their.

- Claire (8/5): Nice hotel with stunning views - Hotel was really good, clean & staff were exceptionally pleasant.
My room, albeit being very compact, had a nice bathroom & the bed was very comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent along with gorgeous views of Sidmouth. Bedroom was compact and exceedingly hot. The radiator wasn't on & I had the window open but slept without the duvet due to the heat in the room.
- Emily (10/5): -
- Karen (10/5): Relaxed and just a lovely hotel - Beautiful views and location Nothing
- Susie (7/5): Great. - Good location. Nice big bed. Friendly staffs. Foods were good. Great spa facilities. Black moulds and cobweb in the bathroom. The fan is really dusty and noisy. Small car park. Would be nice with hot breakfast buffet included on the rates.
- michael (10/5): -
- Jen (8/5): -
- samantha (9/5): Sidmouth seasiders - Setting and the lovely fresh and modern decor. Lovely big room and some free gin! Nice breakfasts and friendly staff Whilst I loved the shutters on our window I like a darkened room for sleeping so some curtains as well would be great
- James (10/5): -
- Jeremy (8/5): - Staff. Location. Atmosphere Wider menu choice at Dinner
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- AndySCFC (10/5): Outstanding!! - Stayed at many of the Harbour Hotels in the south/south west this hotel is an absolute gem and possibly my favourite so far. Wife still thinks Padstow is her fave. Arrived Thursday before Easter for a 2 night signature stay. Plenty of room in car park although was full by Easter Saturday. Great location short stroll along promenade to Sidmouth. All staff without exception were brilliant and service was first class food also first class. Only very minor gripe being went to spa for a quick swim after waiting for kids pool time to finish only to find a local ladies group had booked pool. If we had been forewarned on check in we might have gone earlier. As I say minor gripe only!!! Particular shout out to Jona (Jonathan) on bar who was first class hope your thumb is better soon. Couldn’t fault our stay and will definitely be back soon.
- Peter (9/5): - Breakfast was very ok All all very ok
- Mathews (10/5): Just the break we needed - Beautiful location. Staff were fabulous - nothing too much trouble and very friendly. Fantastic service. Room lovely but smaller than we expected. Stayed in a sea view room but no where to put your suitcases. Minor issue though.
- Waddison (10/5): lovely staff & great location - location it was all excellent
- ginalou (9/5): - Welcome, comfy bed, spa and pool Nothing
- Jane (8/5): -
- Lynn (7/5): Loved the stay but the high price you pay each night is not viable again. - Breakfast and location amazing! Cleanliness of the bedroom- there was no attention to detail! Dust/cobwebs and filthy between shutters and window/doors. Bathroom rust on shower and hand rail and black mould on bath mastic no need to see that how ever old the property is this is lazy cleaners! Also carpets need a good scrub!
- chris (5/5): -
- Q4969FYsharond (10/5): Family Spa Day and Lunch. - Enjoyed a lovely Spa day and a facial and massage from Angela.
Came home feeling great and very relaxed.
The lunch was also lovely.
Thank you
- Sarah (9/5): - Location Room and bathroom but small
- Gary (9/5): -
- Maria (10/5): -
- SRay-47 (10/5): A lovely hotel with friendly and professional staff - This was not our first visit to the Harbour Hotel Sidmouth and it will not be our last. The hotel is beautifully situated at the western end of the town of Sidmouth. The hotel is a mixutre of rooms in the main building and in the courtyard - all very well equipped, there is an indoor and an outdoor swimming pool and a spa and gym, the staff are professional and friendly, the food is excellent with a very good variety of foods on the menu, the bar area is comfortable and the selection of drinks on offer extensive. All the staff are well trained and very good at and seem very happy in their jobs. We always felt welcome and at ease.
The town of Sidmouth is well worth exploring a good range of shops and cafes and places of interest. Some lovely walks around and about.
- GRAHAME (9/5): A lovely hotel with great facilities but the management have taken their eye off the ball in terms of maintaining high s - Staff and facilities are great Housekeeping for the bedroom was very poor
- Nemyoung (10/5): Everything was fantastic. The Spa facilities, massage treatment from Angela and the lunch in the restaurant were great 👍🏼 - The New Year New You Spa Day - amazing, relaxing, great value
- janeramsey43 (6/5): A Pleasant stay overall - We have returned to Sidmouth and to the Harbour Hotel many times we stayed twice in 2025 and have just had 2 days there we plan to return in September for my husband 70th birthday the staff are always wonderful helpfull pleasant and accommodating but we have noticed that standards sometimes slip a little peeling paint in the jacuzzi area is a little off putting, one net curtain at a window in our room is inadequate for covering the whole window there should be two and the trim around the shower screen needs attention it would be nice to see the outdoor terrace which has beautiful sea views receive a little more tlc. Today we returned to find our room had not been serviced apparently due to a shortage of staff housekeeping did appear at 3.30pm to replenish everything and they offered to clean however it felt a little late in the day. We have had many lovely stays here and many delicious meals the Hotel restaurant is open to both residents and non residents and the pros outway the cons but I hope the Harbour Hotel up there game a little and address small issues before we return in September.
- Jack (8/5): We love this place but needs to live up to price more. Could certainly be more clean and more upkeep. - Fantastic location Rooms were not as clean as expected - looks to be a minimal clean up before new arrival.
Some broken decking on balcony which was dangerous for toddler.
- Paul Taylor (8/5): -
- Alun (9/5): Lovely hotel, super staff, great location - Great team, everyone very helpful and polite. Really good location and great views. There was some scaffolding and work going on; this wasn’t a major issue
- Valerie (10/5): -
- Steve (8/5): - The staff made it Parking was limited
- Raymond (8/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): - Fantastic hotel, highly recommend
- Joshua (10/5): - Hotel stunning, staff were excellent and we had room 37 which was just simply stunning. We only had 2 nights there.
- nina (8/5): -
- Quest04157013448 (10/5): Fabulous place to stay - From beginning to end exemplary service. Efficient and polite staff. Food excellent and well presented.
Our hotel room was clean and fresh and of a good size too.
- Mark (10/5): - Lovely village hotel grate Rooms bar a little expensive but ok content get food for evening meal can't complain it was valentines night 10 out of 10
- Rhona (9/5): -
- Mike (8/5): Most enjoyable - Location / view Comfortable / spacious
- E7599AFneils (8/5): Happy stay at the Harbour Hotel - We booked this hotel on the Signature deal which involved a three course dinner and cooked or continental breakfast. We also had a £25 voucher with this deal towards the Spa.
We rang reception to clarify whether we could take our French bulldog and we stayed in a ground floor courtyard room with our furry pal. !
Our room was perfect for our needs. The receptionist was so polite and very helpful highlighting this deal.
I want to highlight the wonderful staff at the hotel where our every need was catered for. Thankyou all you were so friendly and engaging.
I would like to pay special thanks to Sophie in the Spa, who carried out the most wonderful Facial treatment that left me feeling a new woman! I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a wonderful uplifting therapy in all my life. Thankyou so much I could feel the stress lifting.
Overall this hotel had beautiful views and a lovely ambience. We will be back.
- James (10/5): -
- Shirley (7/5): Disappointing - Continental Breakfast was good.
Staff were lovely Room was very small and we found it difficult squeezing past bed to get to bathroom. It appeared to be a single which had a double bed squeezed in.
Hot water was not hot enough for a bath.
There was nowhere to sit together with room service.
Not worth £200 per night.
Parking was very tight with bins and laundry making access to the carpark even tighter.
- frank (7/5): Overall good - Breakfast very good but service poor Restaurants service and TV in room
- Jimmy Gough (7/5): We have stayed at some of your sister hotels, unfortunately, will not be rushing back to Sidmouth - Dinner and staff were very good, bar man 'Luva' was excelent, the position of the hotel was also good, the bed was comfortable. Reception staff were very pleasant. Breakfast selection was very good. Our room and more specificaly the bathroom, was tired and door and paintwork poor, also on the floor one of the large tiles is protruding and is quite dangerous to catch and cut your foot, we covered it with the floor mat so that didn't happen. 'Some' of the breakfast staff, for their benefit require a bit more training, "good morning" would help, some, did look like they didn't really want to be there??
- Russ (10/5): -
- Susan (8/5): Loved it - Breakfast was really good location also very good Shower was very old and a bit grubby. The room was very hot even with air conditioning on.
- Sarah (10/5): Stunning hotel, highly recommend. - The room, the bed, the staff, the food, the view, the bar, the spa, the restaurant, afternoon tea, the breakfast! ALL SUPERB, can’t wait to come back. Nothing!
- Caroline (8/5): Good - Breakfast fine. Room fab - spacious and up to date though lighting could be better - bedside lights inadequate and bathroom no good for make up. Lovely bar area with views.
- Serena (8/5): Great stay in a wonderful area with lovely views. We look forward to returning soon. - Super helpful staff( especially Imogen on the front desk, David from maintenance and Bal and Ellie in the restaurant ), lovely restaurant food (especially the best ever cheese souffles) and a well appointment room with marvellous views! Great welcome touches such as a g and t and bath robes.
The spa treatment of a facial and back massage by Sophie , the manager, was the very best treatment I have had anywhere in the world.
Great decor everywhere especially in the bedrooms and dining room .
Lovely spa facéties and indoor pool a real bonus in the winter. Our sea view twin had wonderful views but space was at a premium and it was rather tight for two people who are not in a relationship !!! No coat hooks was a nuisance especially in damp weather as you couldn’t put them in the wardrobe because of very little hanging space plus one wouldn’t want to get your other clothes soaking!! Pillows were lumpy but at least the beds were comfy
Sensor lights in the bathroom and the corridor was a nuisance as was the door key sensor which did not stay green for very long so if you are holding things you need to put them down to open the door!
Finally the air freshener product in the front reception area is over powering and especially tricky for people with asthma as it is allergy inducing!
- Abbie (1/5): -
- L7257QPrebeccan (10/5): Sunday lunch - Had an amazing roast beef, great staff especially Ellie (front of house). Would recommend getting a side of cauliflower cheese- plenty for 2 and was delicious. Pianist certainly adds to the whole experience as well as the views. All perfect!
- Alison (8/5): Lovely location, nice enough hotel - Staff were lovely, breakfast was good and location perfect. Room was dusty, no robes and spa was a bit tired. Courtyard room had views over bins and car park
- sherrygirlBerks (10/5): Great hotel with lovely staff - We stayed in a sea view twin in late February. We are two ladies in our early seventies who as very old friends regularly go away for a mini break in the UK.
The room had lovely views and was well appointed with bathrobes and a well stocked beverage tray. After a couple of issues which were sorted out swiftly by Imogen on the front desk and David from maintenance we enjoyed the complementary g and t in our room. Both were marvellous and so helpful during our stay when we needed something.!
During our stay we each had a treatment in the spa which was excellent. Sophie , the spa manager , gave me a facial and massage which is the best I have had anywhere in the world!!
We ate in the hotel restaurant on each day for breakfast and also had dinner there each night. The menu was varied and food was delicious: with the cheese soufflés absolutely the best we have ever tasted! All the dining staff were most attentive , professional and helpful especially Bal and Ellie.
Thank you Harbour Hotel for a super stay and we hope to come back!
- Darren (7/5): Weekend Break - Location was great as was the team on reception.
Wife also had a problem with the hairdryer in the room which was rectified within 2 mins. We found out on checking out that room 11 was so hot because it was right above the sauna room.
We also felt that for the price we paid, a cooked breakfast should be included in the price.
- 833bal_zst (10/5): Wonderful Stay, Excellent View, Exceptional Service. - We had a fantastic stay at Sidmouth Harbour Hotel and were genuinely impressed from start to finish.
A special thank you to the reception team, especially Imogen, for the warm welcome and kindness throughout our visit. In the restaurant, Bálint provided outstanding service , incredibly well organised, attentive and professional. He paid attention to every detail and made us feel truly looked after. The food was absolutely superb as well, beautifully presented and delicious. Stef ensured that our overall experience was smooth and enjoyable, and we are very grateful for the care and hospitality we received throughout our four day stay.
- Christine (10/5): - Lovely base to explore local area. Internet weak in rooms
- Theresa (10/5): Exactly what we needed. - Great location, good sized rooms and lovely spa. Staff were friendly and overall a great stay Nothing
- DOUGLAS (10/5): -
- GrumpyCatt (8/5): Location and views are amazing - Staff were lovely and the location is perfect - walking distance to town, beach etc. The courtyard room we had was comfortable but a bit dusty and tired with no air conditioning. Spa was nice but tired too, with peeling paint etc although female changing room was very clean and looked like it had been refurbished recently. Continental breakfast was plenty so no need to upgrade to cooked breakfast and views from restaurant/lounge were great. A really relaxing stay although might shell out more for a room in the main building for better views
- Paul (9/5): lovely spot for a short break. Book the restuarant before you go though - we couldn't get a table ! - very helpful staff who let us overstay a little while while we used the spa. Rooms simple but nicely appointed. Sound proofing non-existent in the chalet rooms. Bath water warm but not hot.
- Mike (10/5): Lovely hotel with a touch of class! - Staff were really great. Room was amazing with superb views. Loved the spa. Great breakfast. A little pricey but it was really nice!
- East0n (6/5): Disappointed - but staff good. - Stayed at Harbour Sidmouth this week in room 15. We have stayed several times at Harbour Christchurch and never been disappointed. However, found this trip underwhelming and disappointing. Really expected a luxurious treat but our room was tired, the hotel smelt stale. The restaurant feels much more refectory than cosy luxury. No atmosphere. Needed dividers and cosy down lighting. Felt like an airport waiting room.
The ‘workings’ of the hotel evident with cleaning and supplies often parked in corridors.
ALL staff were v good, friendly, polite, responsive, excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable. Excellent massage from Jasmine in the spa.
Spa - pool too cold, hot tub - not hot, steam room and sauna ok.
We wouldn’t however stay again. Would go back to our usual in Christchurch.
- Tyler (10/5): Fantastic place, staff are VERY friendly and helpful! We will be back 🙏 - Everything Nothing
