- David (8/5): A super hotel with friendly staff and super facilities. - The hotel is well located with good facilities and lovely rooms and bathrooms. The menu and bar are super, and the continental breakfast is well stocked. A specific mention for Peter the concierge and Katie on reception for their help and assistance - nothing's a problem and I really appreciated their help. The room balcony and balcony furniture needed something of a clean and a tidy up. Similarly the outside areas, floors, chairs and tables need some attention re: the local seagull population's unwanted deposits. The mini bar is rather over-priced, and the TV accounts had numerous people's details and accounts logged in form previous stays - that needs sorting! Please remember to delete your email addresses and IDs if you log in to Netflix, Disney, Amazon Prime TV etc.! (Or someone else will order movies on your account!)

- Jack (4/5): Beautiful location but the hotel itself fell well short of the luxury experience the price suggests - The staff were generally very pleasant and welcoming throughout our stay. The spa area was relaxing and well equipped, with a sauna, steam room, hot tub and loungers. The room itself was comfortable, with a good bed, modern décor, tea facilities and a Nespresso machine. The location and views are also undeniably beautiful. The parking situation was extremely poor. The car park is narrow, steep and overcrowded, with some cars double parked, making it stressful to manoeuvre in and out. Outside porter hours, guests are left to deal with it themselves. The hotel also felt quite tired and poorly maintained for the price charged — our room had stains on the carpet and curtains, black mould above the shower, rust on the bathroom blinds and peeling paint around the window. There were also several small cost-cutting touches that felt out of place in a hotel charging over £400 per night, such as charging extra for cooked breakfast and not even including tonic water with the complimentary gin in the room.

Shower drain blocked, first night flooded the bathroom floor (although quickly sorted by maintenence the next day). A very average continental breakfast with little variety. Dinner in the The Jetty restaurant was good but very expensive. More than double the price of a good meal in town!

- Yanling (8/5): We will come back to Salcombe but probably won’t stay at the same hotel. - The good points were the excellent location, it’s close to the town centre, and the breathtaking views. What can I say? The room facilities were disappointing. The ventilation was very poor, and at night, once we had to close the windows, the room became unbearably stuffy. I could hardly sleep. There was supposedly a complimentary gin provided, but there was barely anything left in the bottle when we arrived, which was quite off-putting. The staff were doing their jobs and were polite to a degree, but they didn’t come across as particularly welcoming or friendly.

Waiting to check in and she was on the phone and did not make eye contact. She should have acknowledged me and said hang on a minute. When she finished the call she attended to someone who was behind me. Not sure who is responsible - the hotel or Booking.com- but the booking said B&B but the hotel said it was only Continental- any hot dishes were £10+ extra. This is misleading representation

- Daniella (9/5): Fantastic stay for my fiancé birthday! - Lovely harbour views from most places inside the hotel (our bedroom, restaurant and spa). Easy walking distance into the town. Food was excellent, dinner in the evening was fantastic and breakfast in the morning had a great selection of fruit, pastries yoghurt and cereals - with a choice to upgrade to a cooked breakfast if we wanted. Car park is extremely tight, not very many parking spaces, however you leave your keys with reception just in case they need to shuffle the cars around.

The Valet parking was also very welcomed and the - Location was great and the Spa was really nice Our meal in the restaurant didn’t live up to expectations. We had to send dauphinois potatoes back because they were uncooked, and the service was very slow. Also £3.50 for a lime and soda felt steep. Despite the booking saying it included breakfast, we were told it was only Continental when we checked in and would have to pay an additional £10 each for cooked breakfast. When I queried this with the desk, the lady told me it was a Booking.com issue and that I should use a different site next time. Not particularly helpful and felt like it spoiled the mood on what was otherwise a really nice stay. We went elsewhere for breakfast out of principle.

- Donna (9/5): A luxury hotel with beautiful views overlooking the Estuary. - The location is stunning, hotel is situated overlooking the Estuary. All staff greet you with a smile, nothing is too much trouble as they want to ensure your stay is pleasurable. We stayed in an accessible room with a view of the Estuary, a lovely way to wake up watching the boats sail up and down. The spa facilities is an added bonus to the overall experience. A cooked breakfast is extra which I felt should be included in the price.

- John (10/5): Amazing staff, thank you all. - With thanks to all the staff at the Harbour Hotel and Spa for accommodating our needs before we arrived at the property. Staff went above and beyond, and I really thank you for that. Amazing location, fantastic room and wonderful breakfast. We are already hoping to return. It was one of our favourite UK breaks and Salcombe was beautiful in the Spring sunshine. A lovely touch was starting each evening with complimentary Salcombe Gin ready and waiting for us in the decanter. We were genuinely thrilled with our stay.

- Peter (9/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay - Locations fantastic, breakfast was fine , only ate what was included, I find it so annoying to have to pay more for a cooked breakfast, when did this start ? Takes a little bit of luxury away When we stayed you had a wedding on, which we totally understand, but we just wanted to relax and sit in bar, to busy couldn’t even get down corridor, so we had to leave hotel and find another place to sit and relax

Not much to dislike but we do think the gate at the side of the hotel ( road side ) needs replacing & the stairwell outside which leads to the road area is often used as a dumping ground . Movie theatre- we love this bonus but staff unfortunately don’t always know pass code to access it which is a shame

Didn't like that although we booked a room with breakfast included we had to pay an extra £10 each for a cooked breakfast. This was not made clear at the time of booking. The hotel receptionist said this was booking.com fault.

- Jake (7/5): Overall, very good and the room upgrade was a bonus although there are certain aspects of the hotel that need some atten - Location and bar/restaurant are highlights. The staff were also attentive and upgraded us to a estuary view room with a balcony when they heard our stay was for a special occasion. The inside of the kettle in our room had bad limescale, we asked for a replacement and they brought another in exactly the same state. The spa is quite small with only a small number of beds. Also, the window in the spa that looks out seems like it hasn’t been cleaned in months.

The addition of a glass of gin each in the room was lovely! The breakfast was nice also. There was quite a lot of noise at night, from both inside and outside the hotel which led to disrupted sleep. The spa was smaller than I expected, and had a limited number of seats/loungers.

I was in a lovely room, was very well looked after by the dining staff and reception. Loved the Salcombe Gin in a baby decanter touch!

- HelpfulTravelling (7/5): Nice bright, well positioned hotel with pleasant staff - Bedrooms are nice and bright with nice views. Nice bright restaurant. Reception staff good & welcoming. Bedroom cleaning staff are quick & efficient. Rooms were nice & quiet at night. Service at dinner was a little slow, perhaps understaffed in kitchen off season and restaurant was quite full with a lot of people waiting quite a time so that was hard on waiting staff. We waited 40 minutes for our main course to arrive after starter and were not alone. But waiting staff were apologetic and it could have been a one off. We also felt the fruit at breakfast could have been a little more imaginative, largely melon/apple/grapes for the fruit salad ? Perhaps some berries or bananas or some fresh grapefuit would be nice on the buffet. But generally food fine.

- Shirley (5/5): - Continental breakfast was fine but 2 mornings had to remind staff to top it up due to empty items an hour before finish. We had some hot sunny weather in January so we were very lucky. Have stayed many times before and on this stay the food in Jetty Restaurant was horrible. What has happened? It was similar to aeroplane food----pre-prepared and then heated up. We just could not eat it. Expensive too! After 2 nights of this we cancelled remaining 3 nights booked and ate out. There are some lovely fish restaurants up the road! Staff are not trained well. Saw staff with their hands all over the clean cutlery and unaware to hold by the handles. Dubious table wiping down too with same old cloth and no spray. Bathroom in bedroom gurgled and chugged and floors creaked everywhere. Those rooms are definitely overdue for maintenance. Striped bedcover was stained. Bar staff slow and cocky. Saw someone in the bar next to us wait two and a half hours for Chicken Caesar salads and it was quiet. Our 5 night stay was an eye opener to see how a hotel can change in a short period of time.
