Guest Reviews
- Joan (10/5): Experiencia inolvidable - Anfitrión muy amable. Nos llevó a cenar junyo a su mujer. Experiencia inolvidable que fué mas allá de alquilar un espacio. Nada

- Lyne (10/5): The home is beautiful and impeccable with so many spacious rooms. Well located and enjoyable support from host. - A true Japanese experience. Great support from host. One needs to be physically fit to be able to sit and sleep on the floor but that’s also what makes your stay so memorable.
- Siwaporn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Magellaen (10/5): We loved this nice, tranquil and authentic house! - Very nice, authentic house with a nice tranquil atmosphere! We loved our stay in this spacious house with plenty of room for our teenage+ children as well. The host is very friendly and helpful and took a lot of effort in helping us when we had a problem with lost luggage. We can only recommend this place!
- Tichachu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (10/5): Beautiful gem of a guest house - Beautiful little guest house, near historic streets. The host was extremely helpful answering any questions we had in a very timely manner. She reserved a taxi for us when we wanted to go to a museum and she was super helpful for other questions. Matsumoto Castle was one of the most beautiful castles we saw in all of Japan.
- Zoe (10/5): Exceptional - The place was spacious and cosy, and we could see the thoughtfulness of the host who provided free hand warmers, turning on the heaters before we arrived and even having reading glasses next to the reading materials for the guide to the house. Masaya was very friendly and responded quickly when we needed help. There was only one shower so it took a while for all 6 of us to take turns showering.
- Hao (10/5): The house is beautiful and clean, very spacious and functional. Will definitely come back next time. Highly recommended! - The host Masa is very thoughtful and warm. reply instantly, answer demands kindly and solves any problem efficiently! No
- Alison (7/5): Beautiful house and location but needs better housekeeping - Beautiful house ! Loved the Kotsatsu! Beautiful decor and garden ! The only thing is we only got half the house which wasn’t clear and the bedrooms were i interconnecting so not the privacy we had intended to book. The beds also did not appear to have been made up/ no sheets just towelling under sheets and a fleece blanket . Also you couldn’t use the bath.

- Elisa (10/5): Beautiful well maintained guest house in ideal location - The Engiya guesthouse was a great choice for our family of 4 visiting Matsumoto on vacation. The owners keep the house in great shape and it was extremely clean and comfortable. The A/C kept us cool in the living room and bedrooms and the kitchen was great to prepare some of our meals. The location was great downtown within easy walking distance to the castle, shopping streets and many restaurants. The owner, Masa, was very kind in offering to take us to the train station (with all our luggage) on our last day. Ao we didn’t have to take the bus. Very highly recommend this house! We had a wonderful stay. Thank you for your hospitality. Nothing- it was great
- Caroline (10/5): Perfect traditional house with all the modern conveniences. - Guest House Engiya is a spacious and very well equipped traditional house. We went in summer and there was aircon in every room. Loved having a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine. The gardens were so beautiful. Very easy walk to local attractions and very accommodating and responsive hosts. Nothing!
- Phoemphol (10/5): Will book it agian! - The location is great and the house is traditional style. The host is so friendly and good service overall. Big living room and dining room. 3-4 bedrooms The hot water was running out if you are using too much water per day. We did not read a notification, they already describe it in the welcome letter.
- Ido (10/5): Exceptional - Great Location, Responsive and flexible host, beautiful and clean property
- Anthony (10/5): A fantastic homestay experience with beautiful garden in Matsumoto - A Great and unique place to experience a stay in Matsumoto in an authentic local house the way locals would live. Beautiful Zen gardens, easy access to walk into town, guest parking off street and beautiful details & decorations all over the house.
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent house with a great atmosphere! Really let us appreciate a semi-traditional experience. Staff communication was very timely and helpful. Highly recommend!
- Michael (10/5): Picturesque Traditional Japanese House - Picturesque traditional house, just across the street from the Matsumoto Performing Arts Centre, very comfortable bedding, two toilet stalls with standard Japanese toilet seats. Perhaps the toilet stalls could be a bit better ventilated.
- Amelia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 全てにおいて大満足でした。オーナーさんも素敵な方でとても楽しかったです。
