Guest Reviews
- Ed (10/5): - We love this B&B! This is our 2nd visit here & it is always a great place to stay. Larry & Patricia are so welcoming it makes you feel like family. The breakfast is always delicious. The house is clean & beautiful & hidden in the forest. Perfect location for us going to Colonial Downs to race. Our favorite!
- Constance L. (10/5): - Great location for Colonial Downs racing, beautiful accommodations and your hosts, Patricia and Larry could not have done more for us.
- Rebekah (10/5): - Very kind, engaging owners. The house is historical and beautiful, and the property is wooded and quiet, really lovely.
- Esther (10/5): - Loved the historically accurate home and setting. It is obvious that the owners have taken great care in building and decorating it after the colonial Virginia period. Delicious, ample breakfast in the morning after a welcome with chocolate chip cookies and tea/coffee if one wishes. Lovely room with very comfy bed and pillows. I happened to mention that it was our 44th wedding anniversary, and next morning we were gifted a lovely card and Belgian chocolates, with a Happy Anniversary banner over the mantel. What a nice surprise!
- Scott (10/5): - The hosts were perfectly lovely. The breakfast was super. We had a wonderful stay and will come again!
- James (10/5): - Absolutely impeccable and super friendly owners. Great hosts! HIGHLY recommend!! Be sure to ask for their dinner options
- Frank (10/5): - We LOVED Gracefield Hall for many reasons:
1) the hosts were warm and accommodating and did everything they could to make our visit perfect. (Including loaning a jacket to one member of our party who planned poorly.)
2) The house itself is an historic masterpiece and the stories behind it are great.
3) Gracefield Hall is close to all three of southeast Virginia's hallmark historic sites, but is located in a calm and quiet part of the state.
4) The breakfast is indescribably delicious -- worth the trip all by itself.
5) The dog (Bristol) is a joy and a great part of the experience. (If you are allergic or just don't like dogs, no worries. Bristol DOES NOT have the run of the house.)
6) Because the location is less-than urban, you have the opportunity to see deer and other animals. And -- since there is no light pollution -- the night sky is glorious.
Highly rceommended. Will return.
- Cameron (10/5): Warm and welcoming stay. - Easy check-in followed by meeting the owners. Very nice folks and extremely accommodating. - Stacy (10/5): - Lovely, historic recreation of a colonial mansion. Delicious food, warm and friendly hosts, elegant furnishings and amenities. The long, dark gravel drive is a little intimidating.
- Robert (10/5): - Kudos to Larry and Patricia for creating a charming and authentic 18th century manor house(with all mod-cons). Definitely will be back. Thank you.
- Mark (10/5): - We loved the host and hostess. Very personable folks. The rooms are cozy and colorful. The breakfast was very good --- well beyond our expectations. Also the location is very close to the Rosie's Colonial Downs casino and horse race track. The location was rustic and easy to miss. Just drive slow the last two miles. Also the owners gave us a great map of the area once we arrived. All in all a great visit (note: no TVs but that is a part of the charm. Sincerely Mark and Aldona in South Carolina

- Kevin (10/5): - Where to start? Here at this place would be a great idea. What a wonderful experience with Larry and Patricia and Bristol. For starters the grounds are gorgeous along with the Colonial style house that they custom built several years ago. And when I say custom I mean from the ground up. They literally designed it and built it from wooded forest land to what it is now. What it is now is the BEST Bed and Breakfast you can imagine. The place is squeaky clean, the ambience is perfect, the location amazing, and the proprietors super. The breakfast was truly delicious and Bristol the rescue Malamute is a love bug who appreciates any extra head scratches you might have.

Their recommendations for activities in the area. We’re well tailored to our interests. The breakfasts were delicious! - Moria (10/5): - Beautiful property and very nice owners.
- Martha (10/5): - I cannot say enough nice things about this property and the owners. Although a newly constructed home, you can step back in time in this colonial plantation home and enjoy some peace and quiet. Larry and Patricia were extremely accommodating and kind and thought out every detail to make it a wonderful stay. So thrilled I found this place and hope to back again in the near future!
- Robert (10/5): Beautiful B&B! - I was in town for a wedding. Hotels/motels are very limited close by. When I arrived I had the pleasure of meeting the owners of Gracefield Hall (Patricia & Larry). A wonderful couple. I was asked what time I would like coffee and breakfast in the morning, since I not a big breakfast person I just asked for coffee/cream/sugar. Unfortunately I didn’t stay for coffee or breakfast. The room was cozy, very clean and neat! It took about a minute for hot water in the morning but no big deal. Definitely a place off the beaten path. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is the place!
- Keris (10/5): - I highly recommend this B&B to any and all! My fiancé and I were attending a wedding in Providence Forge, VA and looking for an option closer than Richmond. I stumbled upon Gracefield Hall on Expedia and I am so glad I did!
The facilities are brand new but quaintly decorated to appear vintage and homey. The lovely couple who own the B&B offered us early check-in at no additional cost so we could make it to a 2pm wedding. Our room was sparking clean, and the breakfast in the morning was FANTASTIC!
We really enjoyed dining with such a diverse and quirky group of guests, and the food was literally amazing. We will definitely be back for the filet mignon dinner and stay soon!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful and peaceful setting. The house was immaculate and comfortable. The hosts were accommodating and enjoyable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It's virtually one-of-a-kind, a researched replica of colonial living. Gorgeous furniture and decor, outstanding breakfasts, personable hosts who built this authentic property from scratch. No TV. Just laid-back living. A most unique experience which we cannot wait to visit again.
- lillian (10/5): Great stay - Great stay wonderful hosts, delicious breakfast. We will be back. Thank you so much
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place was unlike any other I have ever stayed. The owners take you back to the Colonial Days. They roll out the red carpet and fine tune to detail. Perfect night skies and wonderful sweet delights at bedtime. The place is immaculate. The owners are actually the staff who run the B&B and take passion in this neat hidden treasure. A nice experience. 5 stars!!!

The house and room are meticulously clean and sanitary. The breakfasts are fantastic. Guests are served at different times so that you have the dining room to yourself. The breakfasts are served to order and were absolutely scrumptious. The owners were more than eager to ensure our stay was everything we hoped it would be. Would return in the future given the opportunity!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely private property with immense attention to detail. Innkeepers very friendly and helpful.
- Vincent (10/5): - My wife and I had a tremendous experience at Gracefield Hall. We booked the Green Room at Gracefield Hall to celebrate our one-year anniversary and our visit did not disappoint. It is a beautiful Bed & Breakfast and we were greeted immediately by Patricia, who owns Gracefield with her husband Larry. We received outstanding hospitality from the moment we stepped on the property until we checked out. They took care of every detail, large and small that one could want from a Bed & Breakfast. We received a tour of where things were, our room and were treated immediately to a cool beverage upon arrival. When Patricia found out we were celebrating our anniversary, we found a very thoughtful gesture outside our door to help us celebrate, consisting of a bottle of sparkling grape juice, a candle, card and chocolate goodies! What we love about this Bed & Breakfast was its a new house with modern amenities, but built like the colonial homes of old. We noticed every little touch Gracefield Hall possesses to make us feel we were in a new home from the 18th century. We loved how hands on the owners, Larry and Patricia, are. They served us an amazing breakfast in the morning and were present with every need. You can see the stars perfectly from the back porch, and they also have a fire pit on the property. This is the perfect Bed & Breakfast spot when you are visiting Colonial Williamsburg, or the Richmond area. We can’t wait to leave Charlottesville again and stay at Gracefield Hall.
- M (10/5): Perfect bed and breakfast experience - The room was big and very comfortable. The food was lovely. Larry and Patricia heard it was my birthday so they decorated the room and even got flowers and a birthday cake. They were sweet and thoughtful hosts. If you can go there, do it!
