- SAMEER (10/5): - The location and the view
- Feong Wen (10/5): I will be backed for sure - Excellent view of the city and the snow cap mountains from my room at level 6. Indoor and outdoor Onsen were spacious and with excellent view. Due to low peak period, it is extremely value for money for the spacious room with a view for a kill. Breakfast was good for me as I am a small eater . Plenty of car park slots (22) Nothing
- Devn (4/5): Dissappointing - Location Felt like a bait and switch situation. Described on Booking as a Ryokan ( traditional style including breakfast and dinner). Once booked I received confirmation informed there was no dinner service. Parking was limited and they needed an arrival time. Upon arrival only a set Japanese style breakfast was available to eat in your room. Resort tax was collected. I had to use the private spa because they do not allow you to wear swim suits. Another 2200 yen on top. Most expensive room I booked with zero perks as expected and the staff was not willing to compensate in any way The front desk clerk did offer a somewhat of a substitute breakfast but it still was of salted fish plus some bacon thrown in. Don’t know if this was a Booking communication problem or if the property was not fair in their offerings. I would never have stayed there knowing what I know now even if the room itself was great.
- Jules (9/5): - The room had a great view and it was very clean and comfortable. The private rentable onsen was great as well! The free shuttle to the station was very handy. It is a bit far from downtown Matsumoto and the nearest bus stops are a bit of a walk.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): - Such a great stay. The room was very big with an amazing view over the mountains. Also, the onsen was very nice, especially the outdoor one
- Helen (10/5): -
- Ana (10/5): Great stay for a relaxing experience close to Japanese alps - Onsen, views, traditional Japanese furniture Nothing
- Gabriel (9/5): - Really well-kept, cozy, relaxing So far from main town but no big deal!
- yui (10/5): -
- Ryan (10/5): - The onsen were incredible. I used the private onsen as well as the indoor onsen and sauna. Bonus point for the cold bath right outside the sauna to recover quickly
- Sofiane (10/5): -

- Hannah (8/5): If you’re looking for views & peacefulness, this is for you! - Wonderful views, lovely onsen, lovely big room, friendly staff. Wonderful Indian restaurant Manjal just 100m away, fab food! The private onsen was to tiny, more like a bath, and the outdoor onsen has screens up so you couldn’t see anything or any view while you were in it which is a shame. There is no bar restaurant at the hotel, though enough local eating options.
- Morten (9/5): -
- Tanner (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay here relaxing in the multiple onsen - Amazing onsen with city views A bit far from city center
- Hoell Opazo (9/5): -
- Megan (10/5): Perfect relaxing getaway! - Onsen hotel Omoto was exactly what I needed after the time I spent in the city! I didn’t even leave the hotel apart from getting dinner. It’s very relaxing and quiet. You can also experience the traditional Japanese rooms as well. The Onsen was always perfect and I was often the only person in there. The private Onsen was a special treat as well. 10/10 would recommend.

- Atsushi (10/5): - Good view from hotel room.
Onsen room is big.
Sauna room is clean. Restaurant was closed during winter season. Otherwise all good.
- Marie (10/5): Very nuce resort hotel with nice restaurants nearby - Very nice view of the mountains and the city. Good to have complimentary shuttle service to the train station after checkout Wish it had a hotpot with coffee packets
- Josie (9/5): - Lovely staff. You can book a private onsen which is cleaned after each use. They offer a shuttle service back to the station after your stay. A lovely local tempura restaurant very nearby which was delicious!
Make sure you take a look at all the spa facilities. I didn't realise there was a sauna and rooftop outdoor section with plunge pools (for 7th and 8th level) until I had already reached my onsen limit of heat!
- Dorothy (10/5): Relaxing stay, great onsen and sauna. - The room is very spacious and the beds are comfy. There is also a sitting area in our room which we can enjoy the mountain views during the day. The public onsen is clean and well-maintained. If you plan to use the outdoor onsen, be sure to check the schedule for when it switches between women’s and men’s bathing times. Otherwise, the indoor onsen and sauna are available for both genders at all times. I particularly enjoyed the hot sauna and the outdoor cold plunge. We went there by car, so the location didn't matter as much for us.
If you are going there by public transport, note that this is slightly away from the city centre (~30min bus + some walking uphill).

- Deanne (8/5): -
- Poh Hoon (9/5): - The onsen was great!
- Lin Chin Mei (9/5): -
- Stephen (10/5): Beautiful hotel, great staff, very comfortable stay. - Beautiful hotel in great location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Highly recommended. -
- Henrique (9/5): Boa - Confortável e limpo Horário para checkin 15:00 hs
- Laura (9/5): Relaxing stay - This hotel is beautiful, better than the photos. The room was so spacious and comfortable, the view was so gorgeous, we loved staying here. The onsen was really nice, and they also have a private one if you want to have an onsen experience with just a partner. The breakfast is good too, they deliver it to the room. There’s also a free shuttle that takes you to Matsumoto station every morning at 8:30 or 9:30, we took advantage of this as it’s a little far out. The area where the hotel is located is small and quiet, there are a few restaurants and cafes nearby. It’s great for a relaxing time. Nothing
- Nishii (7/5): -
- Dario (10/5): -
- Moriichi (9/5): -
- Marta (9/5): - The room looks like a Riokan and the views are great. There is a shuttle between the Hotel and Matsumoto station. There was free transportation from the hotel to Matsumoto station and vice versa, but we only found out about it when we checked in. If we had known earlier, we would have used the shuttle to go from Matsumoto to the Hotel.
- olivier (8/5): -
- Catherene (8/5): - Beautiful stay if you’re looking for a spacious traditional looking room. Such a peaceful & gorgeous location near the foot of the mountains. There’s also a nearby food place called Manjal that I super recommend. Apart from that, the place is just surrounded with gorgeous food places! I got tattoos so I tried 2 different days to get a private bath to no avail. I wish I was given a reason why I couldn’t get one for 2 days. Also a bit of a drive from the station if you’re looking for a stay that makes it easy to get to & fro other places.
- Sandra (6/5): - De onsen.
- Douglas (10/5): Incredibly relaxing - We had a great time at OMOTO and only wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful room, great views, and superb onsen facilities. Exceptional value for money. Can’t fault it in any way
- Joan (9/5): -
- Francis (9/5): -
- Beatriz (10/5): -
- David (8/5): Good Hotel with Private Onsen Availability - Nice hotel that is out of the way with lots of food nearby. Great food at Manjal and the pub behind Manjal. Public and private onsen (2200 for private 1 hour). Parking around back down the hill. Very clean hotel with bathrooms in room. Staff were not the most friendly upon greeting us and directing us where to park our car. Paid breakfast was below average with a rather simple bento box and terrible luke warm coffee. No Coffee available outside of the paid morning breakfast. Hallways on upper floors are tired and the onsite restaurant was being renovated
- Feikje (8/5): -
- Nanda (10/5): Nice property with great views and 2 Onsens to try as they switch the sexes every 12 hrs. - Onsens. View from Room. Complimentary Yukata. Staff were too formal. Bit of a walk from nearest bus stop.
- Noam (10/5): Charming Traditional Stay with Views - Authentic Japanese Experience: This is a truly traditional Japanese hotel (ryokan), offering a unique and immersive stay.
Serene Location & Views: Nestled on a hill in a quiet neighborhood with narrow streets, it offers magnificent views.
Beautiful Design: The hotel's design is both charming and inviting, making for a very pleasant atmosphere.
Spacious Traditional Rooms: The Japanese-style rooms are exceptionally large, providing plenty of space to relax.
Tasty Breakfast Box: Breakfast comes conveniently in a box with two delicious options to choose from.
Good Local Dining: There are several excellent restaurants located nearby. Tricky Parking: The parking area is a bit far from the hotel, and accessing it via the narrow streets can be a bit challenging.
- Lifang (9/5): Superb - Big bath facilities, with a sauna
Option for Breakfast to be served in the room
- Gabby (9/5): Superb -
- Sue (10/5): A relaxing stay in a beautiful place - Fabulous views from room. Very comfy and spacious relaxing and clean. Great service very quiet.
- Patchareeporn (7/5): Good - Cleanliness Onsen
- Christian (10/5): Great stay and views in Asamaonsen. - Spacious room with cosy bed and great views. Lovely onsen areas. Asamaonsen onsen is a lovely place, too.
- Omer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kornkanya (8/5): Very good -
- Tara (10/5): - Fantastic large room - no soap for showers though
Private onsen wonderful
- Suthida (7/5): Good - Onsen is great.
The view from the room is nice.
The room is size is quite big. Parking is 200 meter from the hotel.
The water pressure in toilet flushing bowl is very low. We have to wait for 2 mins for the next flush.
- Kushagra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tong (9/5): Excellent stay with good location, friendly and hard working staff and excellent house keeping - Very conveniently located, friendly and hard working staff, excellent house-keeping, good onsen and quality service. Breakfast is kind of monotonous
- Theophilus (8/5): Very good -
- Bec (7/5): Good -
- Nicole (9/5): Would definitely stay here again - Loved this hotel - the room was huge, comfortable and had a great view. The onsen was also really nice. Plus, they offer a free shuttle bus to Matsumoto station in the morning.
- Natalie (8/5): The onsen was very spacious with gorgeous cold pools outdside. Very enjoyable. - We did not profit from the option of breakfast unfortunately. Understanding there are translation problems, we suggest making the need to order breakfast the previous day a priority.
- Minehwa (7/5): The hotel offers very nice views - The public onsens are on the top floor with beautiful view. The staff were very helpful. One them guided us to the parking lot The bedroom and bathroom have not been updated but functional
- Christine (7/5): Nice place to stay if you plan to be in Matsumoto. - Omoto is located on the outskirts of matsumoto. So it is in a “quieter” area than around the castle which is busy and rather rundown looking. But you will need a car or taxi to get there. It is an onsen hotel so expect to wash and bathe in the public (gender separated) bathing areas.
Since the location is remote, the staff does go out of your way to help you find where to go. The in room private bath is very small with no shampoo or condtioner. Nearby restsurants are very limited. Kadoya (soba and tempura) staff speak no english. But the ramen and fried chicken at Gattabozu were excellent snd the younger staff do speak english. Its a funky little place next to a gas station with quite a fresh water aquarium and turtle tanks inside.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Perfect hotel to unwind. - The perfect hotel to unwind. Situated in a tranquil street overlooking the mountains, during fall it was such a pretty place to visit with the foliage. We visited after spending busy days in Tokyo, and the quieter area was very much welcomed. We stayed in a traditional room, which was very big, overlooking the mountains. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty and the onsen was excellent. There are some lovely cafes in the neighbouring streets and only a 10 minute drive into Matsumoto. Highly recommend!
- El321 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Costello (9/5): Great hotel - even better breakfast delivery (which was so delicious) - Clean and comfortable rooms
Adorable mama-san delivering delicious breakfast!
- Oranuj (8/5): Very good - The bed is so comfy. The onsen facilities are good. Breakfast was a bit too little compare to the price they charged.
- Ellis (8/5): Good price quality, however not in the city center -
- Christine (10/5): We loved the natural light and open space of the room. Watching the sunset from our room was spectacular. A special town - The space of our room was wonderful. Beautiful bedding and…..that view!!!
The Onsen’s were beautifully equipped, clean and spacious. The private Onsen, a definite must.
A pleasant surprise to have a shuttle bus available to the train station.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ruth (10/5): A beautiful onsen experience - This was just an incredible experience! The view from our mountain view room was stunning, the room was huge and comfortable, the onsen facilities were lovely, and staff were incredibly polite and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The miso soup was the best we tasted anywhere. Being able to enjoy it in our room looking at a view of the mountains made a great start to the day. A shuttle bus was provided to Matsumoto station in the mornings, which made it easy to enjoy the town as well. There are several local eating options and a map provided by the hotel. Not all are open every day, so if there is something you specifically want to try, you may want to eat further afield or plan ahead. Really I would not have changed anything!
- Philippe (9/5): Superb -
