The living room and bedroom alcove are very comfortable and charmingly decorated. The porch and outdoor area are lovely too. The property is close to everything in Hobart, yet you feel like you're in your own private oasis. It was my favourite stay in Australia, if not anywhere we've travelled.

Kirsten (10/5): Wunderschön, erholsam und mal etwas anderes - Wir haben in Monty’s Hideaway übernachtet. Das Highlight war das Dach, das sich automatisch zur Seite schieben ließ, so dass man direkt vom Bett aus den Sternenhimmel bestaunen konnte. Auch die sehr private Lage mit nicht einsehbarer Terrasse war sehr gut. Die Outdoorküche war sehr gut bestückt. Wir haben uns rundum sehr wohl gefühlt. Ein Wäschetrockner wäre wünschenswert gewesen, ebenso der Hinweis, dass wir für die Nutzung der Waschmaschine Waschmittel besorgen müssen. Die Lage ist etwas abseits, so dass man ein ziemliches Stück gehen muss, um zu den touristischen Highlights zu kommen. Aber das sind alles Kleinigkeiten, die den Genuss der Unterkunft nicht schmälern.

Supermarket, restaurants close by. Easy drive to all Hobart attractions. We had a really comfortable stay. Nothing really. Just FYI the kitchenette is small with almost no counter space. If self-catering you would need to keep it simple.

RaeMike (10/5): Beautiful stay at Mauds cottage - What's not to love about this place. Location is excellent, aesthetic is gorgeous, cosy feel and a romantic vibe. Beautiful designed and decorated with love and care. Thank you for the wonderful stay during Taste of Summer and the Sydney to Hobart Yacht race, easy walk to foreshore and Salamanca markets. We will be back. Not a thing.

Tidy beautiful gardens surrounding the building. Would of liked a mat in the shower, the floor was slippery, maybe a small jar or sachets of instant coffee for those who dont want to use the coffee machine,

Thank you! - School house apartment: So many baby items provided which made our trip with 2 toddlers as easy as possible (cots, high chairs, baby change mat, books, duplo, cutlery/plates/bowls/cups, even some wipes) - thank you! The staff folded up the bunk bed/ladder in the second bedroom as I requested prior to stay - again making it easier for us with the kids! Nothing not to like - it was great and would highly recommend!! Only thing re the school house apartment for any families travelling with young kids to mention is that the bathroom is all open in terms of wet room style/no shower door so the surrounding floor got a bit slippery (there are slip pads though for the shower), we then had 2 little ones running around who both slipped over - but after that we just put some extra towels down on the floor which the management kindly provided and no further dramas! Also the open bathroom style super helpful for anyone requiring disabled access/bench in shower, also a ramp up to the house and no steps inside/outside.

Michael (10/5): Highly recommend - amazing place, warm, quiet, and beautifully designed. - Whoever did the design on this place was brilliant. Amazing rebuild/addon to a lovely old place. Comfortable, homely, clean and quiet. Just what we needed for our last 2 nights in Tasmania. The only small gripe: the main bed sits right under the smoke alarm, and at night, when everything else is dark, it's a pretty bright regular flash right above your face. It takes some getting used to. Not sure if this is easily fixed.

Nadi (10/5): Perfection! - The bath was the highlight. After a busy day hunting waterfalls and lots of trekking uphills it was a great opportunity to relax. The heated bathroom floor was also lovely. Every thing was cosy and inviting. The privacy and garden were also great. Nothing. It was perfect.
Richard (9/5): Great stay in fab location - Great location, easy to find and park. Plenty of good places to eat and shop in walking distance. Fabulous bathroom, comfortable bed and good facilities, including great WiFi. Living area is a bit tight, and outside kitchen can be a bit bracing in the cold, but it’s a lovely place to stay.

I believe you can improve the coffee adding an espresso machine or French press with real coffee. The coffee culture is part of australia and will improve the morning experience at the property with the open roof.

Michelle (10/5): - The host went above and beyond for supplying things for our toddler, high chair, books, blocks, a kit of bowls, cups and cutlery. It was so lovely to stay and have these extra amenities you need while travelling with a little one. The host also had a washing machine and dryer to use free of charge which was amazing and generous. It was a lovely quiet little spot and even had heated floors. Was a wonderful stay, would highly recommend.

Christina (9/5): Unique and comfortable experience in Hobart - Unique and aesthetic design, it was a lovely blend of fragrant wooden cabin and historical decor with the wonderful features of the modern bathroom, moving bath, roof and remote control blinds. Kitchen is perfectly functional and the coffee machine is fab as is the fridge. You'll love sipping espresso out on the terrace in the lovely courtyard. Its a bit out the way but the walks are grand and uber is so cheap in and out if the CBD if need be. Bed is a little small but okay for a short stay. Two chairs in lounge aren't super comfy or conducive to cuddling one's partner but fine enough to read a book before the fire.
Annette (5/5): Not for me. - Good parking spot. Good communication re access. Not what I was expecting. Booking.com does not immediately disclose that this is a shipping container. It is inferred that there is a group of cottages in a lovely old garden setting. Not quite so quickly my dear Holmes…In reality there are views of tall, close, fences on a carved out triangle of space separated from the pretty gardens. Nicely styled interior but functionality is limited. No sofa. No suitcase luggage holder. No hanging space or hangers. Nowhere to put a change of clothes in the bathroom. No room to move comfortably down the side of the bed. I note that on the third link to the Hideaway there is a fuller description but that sits after the booking page. The accommodation’s own web page is much more upfront about what this is, but I suggest that the booking.com site essentially uses real estate code to obfuscate the fact that this is not like the other venues which sit alongside the Old Bishop’s quarters. Photos and reviews are not specifically referenced to Monty’s Hideaway so it is very easy to get the wrong impression about the facilities available and the nature of the accommodation. “Young couples love our Hideaway’…code for …you’ll need the dexterity of a 20 year old to walk beside the bed and live off the floor. Well… I’ve just had my knees done so I really would have appreciated some truth in descriptions. The venue is clean, it is stylish, the wet area is generous. Further functionality could attach with a little more tweaking. If you know what you are getting, then by all means I’d be along for the ride and embrace the novelty. But this was just disappointing and uncomfortable. Some of that perspective is based on my mobility needs at the moment, but much of my angst reflects a deep resentment that the description did not provide potential travelers with some much needed clarity about what this accommodation offers and what it does not.

Asako (9/5): - Large one-story appartment with 2 Bedrooms, a bathroom and a livingroom. All rooms are clean and funtional. Kitichnett is very small, but fundamentals are equipped: dishwasher, fridge, microwave, dishes, salt, pepper, tea, coffee and milk etc. Through big windows in each rooms you get sunlight and a small piece of seascape. The hotel is a bit away from the city centre and you must go up the steep slope to get the hotel. Drains in kitchen.and bathroom are not perfectly smooth.

Old Bishop’s Quarters was so well located: a 15 minutes walk through posh neighborhood to downtown Hobart, easy Uber to North Hobart with trendy restaurants and pubs, and easy access to major roads for exploring the region. The property was so well maintained and appointed that we felt at home after a day of sightseeing. Clean, modern and all the conveniences you might need on an international trip. We loved the history behind the property and look forward to staying there again.

Wendy (8/5): A unique and cosy spot to explore Hobart from. - Monty’s Hideaway was very modern and fresh. Cleverly appointed and the opening roof a delight even in May! The bathroom was very spacious. We loved the outdoor kitchen and chimera to warm us in the early evening. Great short walk to Sandy Bay cafes and waterfront. The sitting area layout doesn’t much leave space for luggage so better if you travel light. Good to arrive in daylight.

Whole house was warm, quiet, clean and exceptionally comfortable. And we happened to bump into the owner and they were very kind and helpful. Also the location! You can walk to the Salamanca market, Battery point, many restaurants, cafes and shops. Nothing.
