Guest Reviews
- Grau (10/5): - Most social hostel ever, staff is very kind.
- Jung Hyun (Jonathan) (5/5): - Friendly people. Location and missing shelves in beds.
- Ava (10/5): - good social events and super friendly staff. So close to many things I wanted to do. Very walkable
- Lucas (10/5): Maravilhoso - Limpa, tranquila, ótimo para conhecer pessoas e lugares. Muito perto do metro. Bem localizada. Amei passar meus primeiros dias no Japão aqui. Foi um ótimo começo.
- Nadia (8/5): Social for Japan, nice staff, clean, cheap and cheerful - Plenty of bathrooms, clean, walking distance to station, had an elevator, dorms are quiet.
Met people easily and Staff are great especially Mai, Adrian & Freddie :)
There is a separate room in the dorms to put your bags which is good but like any dorm not much space to open your bag in the actual room No bar
Beds weren’t that comfy but not a big deal
- Taalai (8/5): Yeah, social aspect is present - Adrian and Luca were fun to talk to. As well as the most of the other volunteers and staff.
Speaking English and Japanese was great.
Good hostel for social aspect.
- Enze (5/5): -

- Noée (10/5): - R Hostel Namba south was incredible! It was a really social hostel and I met a lot of nice people. Even with that, the dorms were pretty calm and everyone is respectful. They have a system so that the guess can organize events between them, so it's really fun to explore Osaka. The staff is really nice and social which made the place feel familial in a way. The location is a bit far from the city centre (40 minute walk), but the hostel is close to train and subway lines so it's still accessible. And if you like to walk, the 40 minute is not too bad, there are a lot of cool things on the way.
- Kellie (7/5): Fun for the experience - It was very social!
Lots of card/board games that you can use and the hostel does a great job of bringing people together (organising events etc).
Convenience store close by and in walking distance to a lot, including station. The dorm is very narrow and it had a weird (urine) smell throughout especially near the bathroom. Need to put more bins in the bathroom/throughout hostel, as they were overflowing.
You have to pay for a towel and also there isn’t actually clean bedding, it is just a cloth over your pillow and a sheet, the actual duvet doesn’t have a cover.
The area does feel a bit sketchy, I got heckled on the street by a drunk Japanese guy in the middle of the day. I didn’t feel unsafe walking around in general though and it is close to the station, but just to be warned.
- Saki (6/5): -
- Maddy (6/5): Okay for the price but nothing great - The vibe was social and it was fairly quiet at night. The area is definitely sketchy (by Japan standards) with an older crowd, some strange people on substances about but didn’t necessarily feel unsafe. It’s close to some food places but you’ll need to walk 30 mins or metro anywhere else.
Not enough room anywhere. No room for luggage, not enough seats for everyone to sit down in the common area. Pretty sure it’s one of those places that doesn’t wash the pillows/duvet and just relies on the clean sheets to do the work. The bathrooms were fine but the towels for wiping surfaces and hand towels are old and don’t feel nice to use.
- Hartnett (10/5): - Hayato was absolutely amazing and saved my day with my hostel booking in Tokyo. Great hostel and a great vibe
- Ruby (7/5): -
- Guilherme (10/5): - Comfortable accomodation, close to the metro..
But most importantly had good time everyday talking to the other guests and the volunteers/workers. Made good friends, very nice stay :) Nothing

- Lucy (10/5): Spacious, comfortable and very good facilities in a hostel with a great location. - Very nice facilities and a great location in Osaka. Lots of opportunities to meet people and speak to others. Only thing to fault is the volume of others - but that comes with the territory of staying in a hostel!
- Phillips (10/5): -
- Jocelyn (6/5): - The staff were all very friendly and they seem to want to engage with the guest and explore Osaka through activities. The location was good with the train but the area is known to be a not so nice area of Osaka. The room was also a bit smelly.
- Shr-Chi (10/5): -
- Isabel (6/5): You get what you pay for! - For the price range, this hostel is exactly what I expected. I checked in after hours, and the late check-in process was incredibly simple with clear instructions. I officially check-in and paid the next morning, and the attending staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I mentioned that I was visiting the Osaka Expo and she gave me wonderful tips that honestly improved my experience a lot. There was a little miscommunication on the late-check in instructions. It said the front-desk opens at 9:30, but it really opens at 10:00am. I was there ready at 9:30 because I wanted to dart to the Expo, but she let me pay early as soon as she saw me regardless. Everyone I met inside was also very friendly. It's definitely an active hostel with all sorts of travel-loving guests. Convenient location about a block and a half from two different metro stations, and there's a Mega Don Qui down the road in case you forgot any travel essentials. Past comments mention the area is a little "seedy," but compared to a place like NYC, it felt completely safe. If you aren't used to seeing elderly/houseless people then maybe you'd be surprised. For this price, you get what you get. I was too busy to book lodging ahead and this was the last available option a week before my trip. For a last resort, it's decent, BUT compared to other Japanese hostels it felt quite dirty. Only stay here if you're okay roughing it a little. While I never saw any insect activity, everything in the dorms was dusty and a tad grimy. The space between the wall and beds is narrow, and people left their suitcases out and open, making it very cramped. Because the floor is mostly covered with others' belongings, there's no way staff can vacuum or really clean in the dorm spaces. The separate luggage storage room exists, but it's inconvenient if you need to grab something. I recommend traveling light and only coming with a backpack. I kept my pack in my cot (luggage locked) the whole time.
The room is hot, but not unbearable to someone used to staying in older Japanese buildings. The shower room smelled like steamed broccoli or sweaty socks, and was very humid. There are two aircon units in the shower room, but every time I went they were never on. There is no temperature switch and the buttons on the units were taped over by staff. I'm not sure if they run them at some point in the day, but it never felt like it. I wore flip flops in the showers and never walked around barefoot, and I recommend others do the same. For the three nights I was there, it didn't seem like the bathroom or shower room were cleaned once. I never saw mold or anything like that, but as I said, everything felt like it had a layer of grime.
Past comments complained about noise from the 1st floor common space, and yes there was some, but on the 3rd floor it wasn't too bad. Perhaps the mixed dorm on the 2nd floor is worse. The higher you go, the quieter it gets, I suppose.
Overall, I would book this place again as a last resort. There are no bells and whistles, but a roof is a roof.
- nishimura (5/5): -
- Gabriel (10/5): Caught a vibe (and 5 highballs) - The vibes and the people in the hostel were amazing, you could've simply hangout in the lobby chatting and next second you're out drinking with people u just met.
The staff is also very kind and social.
Overall this hostel exceeded my expectations and I'm happy I was able to stay here, definitely coming back to catch the vibes!
- Imogène Tallulah Belle (7/5): It covered my needs. Great staff. - The staff were nice and attentive, extremely helpful. The beds were comfy. It was a good place to meet people. En suite toilets in the room was a plus, as well as having an elevator. It was also great to be able to leave your luggage before check in or after check out free of charge. And once you had checked in you could spend all day in bed if you needed to (great for jet lag or if feeling unwell). The cleanliness perhaps, and some utensils and such needed replacing, as they were quite old. Also having music on all day in the main room was a bit too much. But what I had a real problem with was the neighbourhood. I was scared to go out at the beginning and the got used to it eventually.
- Hsin Ting (8/5):
- Jamie (10/5): -
- Evan (2/5): 2/10 would not recommend unless you're in your 20s and just want to party and not shower or sleep. - Close to a train station and active, young crowd staying here. Black mold in the showers, the entire entrance/ground floor smelled of mildew and mold, the bathrooms were mildewy as well, and the sleeping area smelled of feet and mildew. There is high likelihood of mold throughout the entire building, not just the showers. Stayed 3 nights and couldn't wait to get out as soon as I arrived. The sleeping quarters were also very cramped, with an open area for you to put luggage (no locks or anything). Small lockers for small valuables and that was it.
Also located in one of the worst parts of Osaka. At night when walking back, witnessed multiple drug deals by the bath house next door. When walking to the train in the morning, there were plenty of homeless around and the entire area did not feel safe at night or in the early morning.
2/10 would not recommend unless you're in your 20s and just want to party and not care about cleanliness or being considerate of others trying to sleep.
- Ivan Alexis (9/5): -
- Eevi (10/5): - The hostel is very social, they have a matching board that helps guests connect and do activities together. The staff also hosts activities!
- Kristin (10/5): -
- Alexis (10/5): Perfect to meet other foreigners - Great location in Osaka.
Loved the matching board to get to socialise with other guests.
- Sacilotto (10/5): Super nice - Everyone is so nice I loved everything
- Birolini (9/5): Fun stay and nice dormitories - The staff was really nice, and the organisation really allowed people to get to know each other and socialise but everyone was also still respectful of quiet time in the dorms. The place was also overall clean. The bathroom on the 2nd floor mixed dormitory could be dirty at time. Fault of the people there, not the staff!

- GUGLIELMO (10/5): - Everything, location, stuff, activities. A lot going on and I had a lot of fun.

- Giorgio (10/5): - This is one of the best places in Osaka to find decent accommodation and meet people during a solo trip!
It’s not very close to the city center (Namba), but the metro station is less than a 5-minute walk away, and it only takes about 15 minutes to get downtown.
The facility isn’t very big but is well-organized across different floors. The dorms are just okay and the beds are comfortable enough to sleep well.
The staff is super friendly, and there’s a very cool activity-board in the lobby where guests can post or join daily activities. Just scan the corresponding QR code, and you’ll be added to the WhatsApp group for that event.
Overall, it was a great experience, and had lots of fun with the people I met there! ^^ I don’t have any negative review

- tom (10/5): Closest thing to a social party hostel in Osaka. - The best social hostel environment in Osaka. Very quite at night but a wonderful place to meet like minded people on your travels. Nothing fantastic staff, amenities and beds where very comfy.
- Sacilotto (10/5): Social and comforting! - The hostel was amazing to say the least, staff super friendly and helpful! There was always something going on, from party’s to day trips out. The toilet facilities were pretty good, always hot water for a shower!!! Beds were comfy, I stayed a few nights in both dorms and a private room and were both good value for money. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UF YOUR VISITING OSAKA!! I liked everything

- RUMIKO (7/5): -
- Hayato (10/5): More Than Just an Accommodation - This is my second time staying here! I came to Osaka this time to visit the Expo. As always, the staff were super friendly and helpful, and they gave me great travel advice about Osaka. After I got back from the Expo, I joined a group chat and went out with other guests. It was really fun having genuine international conversations with people from all over the world. On top of that, the mattress seems to have been replaced and felt even more comfortable than last time. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. You can make great friends and unforgettable memories! There were no meals provided, but it wasn’t a problem at all. There’s a 24hour supermarket and convenience store nearby, and the hostel’s kitchen is also open 24 hours. Plus, there’s even a vending machine that sells alcohol right in front of the hostel lol
bagni in comune molto pulito.
- Hanna (7/5): - the hostel was very nice, a separate floor for the showers so it doesn't bother in night. very nice staff, and everything was good except for the location.. the hostel is located in not so great of a neighborhood.. as a solo (female) traveler this is the first time and place in Japan that I didn't feel comfortable to walk alone at night. It's very important for me to be in a safe place.
