• I3963GXalisonr (10/5): Unique hotel! - We have stayed here several times over the years and have always received a warm welcome. The location is ideal when breaking a journey through France from Calais. The hotel is a bit quirky, very clean and the breakfasts are really good. We highly recommend!

Das Frühstück war sehr gut mit einer tollen Auswahl an selbstgemachten Fruchtkonfituren. Das Bett war für uns persönlich unbequem und durchgelegen. Leider gab es nur eine Kissenvariante und die war nichts für uns, da die Kissen sehr dick waren.

The tourist office were extremely helpful (and parking is free), and the Chateau, and staff, were super. A brilliant, and evocative castle. We needed a hotel, and asked for Chateau Chenonceaux luxury at cheap chain prices. They sent us to Diderot! Perfect. Great hosts, lovely ambience in our executive grade chalet style room, in the public areas and the gardens; absolutely in the mood. Choette!

Et que dire du verre de vin sur la terrasse pleine de fleurs pour se reposer de la visite de la ville? Ah oui, j'oubliais : localisation parfaite pour arpenter Chinon!

• Bernard (10/5): - A very charming hotel in a fantastic location in Chinon. The gentleman who greeted us when we arrived was friendly and hospitable. The refreshments on the lovely terrace was a great start to our stay. The lady who also greeted us at check in and later during the evening when we had more refreshments on the terrace was exceptionally pleasant and charming, a great asset to such a lovely hotel. I look forward to returning soon.

• 45DegreesNorth (10/5): Charming decor, gardens and well located in historic Chinon - Charming boutique hotel with easy access to the historic quarter of Chinon. As one approaches the hotel, the lovely flowering bushes and trees create a heavenly impression. We were on a cycling tour, this is definitely a cycling friendly hotel, with a secure spot for locking up bikes. We did not book our rooms directly (it was done through our tour company) but I believe that we had a de Maître room, on the second floor, very spacious, elegantly decorated with period furnishings and traditional wallpaper. We did not have air conditioning which we were rather weary of because it was a very hot June, however there was a fan provided, we left the two large windows open and we were fine. The breakfast area was very nice, had a bit of communal kitchen feeling to it, very cozy. Our cycling that day took longer than we thought, and we had a wine tasting booked at Caves Plouzeau, we had to drop our luggage and race over there before they closed. We were told that the front reception would be closed by the time we returned, and they have a nighttime entrance in the back. Overall the hotel was a lovely place to stay, which we could have stayed longer.

• Mamafoo2000 (10/5): Best Loire Valley Hotel, at a very good price - This was my 2nd visit to the hotel (April 2023 being the first). This is one of my favorite hotels in France. Location is perfect - with great restaurants within walking distance and its situation in the Loire is perfect for car daytrips to Chateaux. It got cold my week there, and the room was toasty warm and the heated towel rack was a great bonus after a shower! The breakfast of homemade jams, fresh breads and local cheese is just right. After staying in many historic hotels in France, I can say without a doubt that the Hotel Diderot is the cleanest and most comfortable I have experienced.

• 63lindag (10/5): Highly recommended - What a beautiful, characterful hotel. Full of history and quirky little details. Our room overlooked the hotel terrace and garden and was immaculately clean. The king sized bed was comfortable and additional pillows and blankets were available. The bathroom and toilet were separate but both modern and spotlessly clean with plenty of towels. Excellent shower! Breakfast was lovely with a fresh fruit salad, yoghurt, fresh apple juice, fresh bread and croissants and a range of delicious jams and marmalade. Service was exceptional- personal and attentive. The location is spot on with a 10 minute walk into town and car parking on site for 4 euros per night. Perfect stay.

• Roberto (10/5): Una scelta perfetta per rilassarsi immersi nel passato con tutte le comodità del presente. - L'edificio è delizioso, nel centro storico, silenzioso e ben curato, sia all'interno che all'esterno. E' la classica residenza signorile con un passato storico. Il personale è molto gentile e pronto a fornire informazioni utili per il soggiorno. Ho molto apprezzato la possibilità di cenare presso l'hotel, anche se non c'è il ristorante, grazie a piatti pronti conservati in vetro che vengono scaldati. Non pensate a uno snack di scarsa qualità! Sono piatti della cucina locale ottimamente preparati e freschi; tra l'altro è più facile rilevare gli allergeni rispetto a molti ristoranti in Francia. Per chi prefersice comunque il ristorante c'è una grande scelta nel raggio di poche centinaia di metri. Molto bello il pergolato che si affaccia sulla corte interna. Un piccolo limite è la mancanza dell'ascensore, peraltro ben segnalata nelle informazioni di prenotazione. Molte camere sono comunque al piano terra e c'è eventualmente un solo piano dal salire e il personale si presta per aiutare con i bagagli.

Breakfast includes a wide selection of Jamie’s house-made jams to dollop atop your picks from the basket of fresh breads, hot pots of coffee, and local newspapers all to be enjoyed in front of a cracking fire. • W5513QHthomask (2/5): Not up to the rating - Though we booked a room overlooking the parking lot as it was the last remaining room in the main hotel, it never came near the eating others have provided. It smelled of mildew and smoke - they need to air that room out. The interior left much to be desired. We advised that we could not stay there, the staff took us to the annex to show us two other rooms. As we entered through the door, a stronger mildew and mold odor hit us. We said no thank you and left.

Either it’s hard to accept reality, or it’s difficult to process the information provided. And “the host was nice, but could’ve been nicer” or “I liked the bed, but it was a bit too firm” sounds like a case of the Princess and the Pea syndrome. Life is beautiful.

L'insieme è molto accogliente, esterno di charme. Bella la colazione su grandi tavoli in condivisione tra gli ospiti, non c'è grande assortimento di prodotti ma sono di ottima qualità. Posizione comoda per il grazioso centro cittadino. Purtroppo il parcheggio privato era esaurito ma nelle vicinanze c'è spazio pubblico comodo utilizzabile, si potrebbero migliorare i bagni.
