Guest Reviews
Hotelpersonal super nett, Zimmer top!
Super plaisant.
- Rosa (8/5): - Quiet and safe neighborhood! Although room is only cleaned every three nights. Aside from housekeeping, location is nearby Kyoto station, walkable to shops and restaurants. And a bus ride away from local attractions. I would recommend this location.
- Mathilde (10/5): - The room was more spacious than anticipated, and clean, i appreciate the proximity to the river. The neighborhood was enchanting and we can walk easily to most places.
- kimberly (2/5): - It wasn't as described on site. Room was much smaller than described. Staff was useless. They couldn't help with taxi. Check in was through a terminal that barely worked. No ice machine. The drink machines were broken. No ramp to enter the building just a side walk. No phone in room to ask front desk questions. The AC unit barely worked. Had to turn the AC down to 16 degrees just to cool the room and it took hours onky for it to make the room humid and muggy. The bed felt like a rock n the pillows were worse. Would NEVER recommend. Nothing was open near by, and to get to and from you had to pass through sketchy back alleys.
- pascal (10/5): Propre et bien situé - Très bien situé et super propre.. personnel a l'écoute
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Kat (10/5): - Its very near the kamo river which is lovely. Still bery convenient.
- HELEN (10/5): - Very clean and staff is very helpful
- Giorgio Laurent (10/5): - Ottima struttura
- Alessandro (10/5): - Ottima posizione, personale gentilissimo e camere pulite
- Paulette (8/5): - I enjoyed the size of the beds.
- Andrew (10/5): - Nice hotel with private rooms and showers. Quiet and affordable!
- Jams (10/5): - It was an amazing staying my friend and I enjoyed it a lot! Only comment would be the need to pay for cooking utensils per day, and the available parking isn't free (all the surrounding parking nave similar daily rates).
Otherwise had a lovely time, thanks for having us!
- Emil (10/5): - Service
- Mary Jane (10/5): - Staff is very helpful
- Jany (10/5): - It's a nice hotel with close to lots of transportation.
- Marc (8/5): - This was the most spacious room of the three hotels we've stayed at so far on our trip (APA Ryogoku, Smile Hotel Shinosaka) which was a welcome change of pace from our other "small room" bookings.
A cozy little location within walking distance from a train station that let's you access the rest of the city, and a small but well-stocked 7Eleven among other cafes and restaurants in the area. Staff was friendly and courteous, check in was easy.
The only reason I'm taking 1 star off is because this hotel does not offer Luggage Delivery service (It can receive luggage no problem though), which we only found out the morning we needed to use it. This was mostly our fault, since the research we had done suggested that "Most hotels will offer both sending and delivery services".
As a result, we needed to take our bags on a short walk to the 7Eleven, and then one bag further to the Yamato Sales Office because my suitcase was 180cm around (standard suitcases are 160cm) and the 7Eleven couldn't accept bigger than 160cm. Otherwise, this was a lovely stay, in a very cute area that my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed.
- Tino (10/5): - When I arrived the hotel as thought was further away from transport buses in walkable distance. If you know what you doing gion only a short bus ride or train. There is little cafe that’s nice for a drink enjoyed the macha
- Carlos (10/5): - Only i did not like is they dont have breakfast is important to the hotel
- Sikander (10/5): - very clean
- Ioseph (10/5): - Tutto ok
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved our stay at this hotel. The check in was very easy and the staff are so kind and friendly. Main lobby has a microwave and drink bar which was nice. Room was very spacious and clean. Hotel was located in a nice area, close to the river and several train stations, with nice walking paths close by. Only downside was the beds were very hard.
- Zack (2/5): - Worst hotel ever, not as advertised. Beds were hard, very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs poke your ribs. Only 1 small and lumpy pillow per “bed”. I asked the guy at the front desk for an extra pillow or blankets to pad the bed with and he just said no. He Didn’t even pretend to care. He claimed to be the manager and basically told me to go away. Room, bathroom, and shower was very small. I Wasn’t expecting a huge place at all but it was difficult to maneuver yourself in the shower. WiFi didn’t work. Room had odor like the carpet needed to be replaced, table was sticky. you couldn’t even see the tv if you were in bed the lay out made zero sense. Obviously we left the next day because this place had no redeeming qualities. They said we would get a refund and only have to pay for the single night when we left but obviously that was also a lie like everything else there. Not only did I have to spend time re booking a new place but also have to waste my time and energy emailing Expedia and the careless liars at this pathetic “hotel”. They didn’t even notice it was my birthday after having them scan and read over my passport during the 10 minute check in process. Go to the four points flex Sheraton instead ! Way better and similar cost. Oh, they did have tap water and fountain soda for 100 yen per cup so that a unique feature. It was even near the front desk so they could uncomfortably watch you.
- Yuna (8/5): -
- Claudia (10/5): - Absolute Empfehlung!
- David (10/5): - I loved how the hotel was in a more quiet secluded place, it felt safe and honestly was so much more spacious than what I originally thought. The only thing me and my friend didn't like was that they do room servicing every 3 days meaning like making the bed or having people help take out the garbage and stuff from our room, other than that the experience was amazing.
- Alaa (6/5): Ok hotel with ok price. - First, it’s not really that near from the metro station or the bus station, but still the location is ok.
The staff tried to be as accommodating as possible but only one really spoke English.
The worst thing about this hotel was its wifi. It was as good as nothing, I had to opt to my own 5G for the entire 4 days stay.
The staff also doesn’t know the surroundings of the building so you can’t really expect any useful answer. I tried to ask for a phone booth, money exchange machine and other thing but their answer was as simple as “Kyoto Station” even though they were much much closer to the hotel vicinity.
- Davide (10/5): - Spacious and comfy room. I particularly loved the location, walkable distance from main attractions and we'll connected with the station and the city center
- Yang (10/5): - Thank you! We loved our stay, super spacious room.
Great location, you can walk to many popular tourist spots from here within 20 mins.
Surprisingly quiet rooms considering that there are connections between rooms.
Wifi is actually good, but when most guests are back in the hotel after 10 pm then it does get slow.
- Madeline (10/5): - This was such a great hotel, we loved our stay! Very clean and bigger rooms for Japan. The beds are pretty firm, but we are finding that is pretty standard in hotel rooms here. The laundry machine, complimentary beverages and location of this hotel were fantastic! You can’t go wrong with this!
- Valérie (6/5): - For the price, this hotel is worth it for a couple of nights. Its location is very convenient (~35 minutes walk from downtown Kyoto & Gion). The staff was very welcoming. They are not often at the front desk however. The wifi worked on and off. The room smelled faintly of urine, but was very clean looking. The pillows and mattresses were rock hard, but fairly big for twin beds. If you don't mind these inconveniences, again for the price we did not feel cheated at all!
- Wendy (10/5): - Staff are nice and helpful, there is also a soda machine for all the guests. The location is walkable, maybe around 8 mins walk to a subway station but overall it was an amazing stay. My husband and I enjoyed the stay because we got our own beds and it was comfy too. Will stay here again!
- Hisha (8/5): - i like the hotel, but the wifi needs improvement...it's weak!
- Megan (10/5): - Loved staying there the only thing is that the wifi didn’t work properly which was a little annoying but overall great hotel I definitely recommend
- Tiancheng (8/5): - Quiet and cheap place to stay.
- Scott (10/5): - Quiet, soundproof rooms. Good shower
- Amelia (6/5): - The room was very clean and comfortable, however the fire alarm went off and there was no one around to reassure everyone or update what was going on. The fire alarm also only spoke in Japanese, this makes it very hard for foreigners to know that there is a fire alarm and that everyone needs to be evacuated. If there was a real fire everyone would be in danger because no one knew what was going on or when they could go back to their room. There was often also nobody at the front desk.
- Sasiryn (6/5): - The room was very clean. There are only 3 bottles of shampoo, conditioner, soap, and towels in a bathroom. For other amenities you have to pick-up from a hotel counter, and soft drink dispenser, microwave are available as well.
Normally there is no staff stand by at a counter. You have to check-in by computer touch screen in front of a counter, or using a phone call to ask a staff for help. About 5 minutes after calling, a girl staff came and cut the line for 2 Japanese who arrived after me. When 2 Japanese finished check-in, that staff helped me check-in (by computer), she asked me “which language do you prefer?”, I said “Both Japanese, and English.”, she surprisingly looked at me, then completely changed her manner to be super polite. That was my first impression.
Honestly, I didn’t expect much from this price, but a staff came to make room only 1 time during my 4-night stay, that made me feel uncomfortable with the increasing number of trashes.
About the location, the hotel is isolated, quiet at night, and quite far from convenient stores, this should be considered for those, who’s travelling alone.
In case you want to leave your backage at the hotel after check out, there are some cable locks available. But don’t forget to check the key, because I locked my suitcase with a cable, and found there was no key!! At the time there was no staff at all, but I remembered when I leaved my room, there was a girl cleaning the opposite room. So, I decided to ask for her help. Thanks
- Wai bing (8/5): -
- John (8/5): - Had a very nice stay here. Only saw one person at the front desk when we checked in and saw them 1-2 more times in 3 days. The place seems to run itself as there is a screen to check in and check out on. They had a machine for free soda, coffee, and tea, but ran out of cups the day we arrived and just put an out of order sign on it for the next 2 days we were there. I thought the room was nice and clean and I would stay there again. Very good deal.
- SAMUEL (8/5): - It was fantastic experience!
- Sukoa (4/5): - The hotel was nice but the beds and pillows are so hard and uncomfortable. My body was literally hurting and I found it difficult to sleep for very long. I asked the front desk for a softer pillow but that one also felt like it was full of rocks.
I loved the area but I wouldn't stay there again just because the beds.
- Marina (6/5): - I wish the staff could support better the guest on check in and with a better communication. Shower water was cold for two mornings. Also,
- E (10/5): - Nice location, facility and service such as free drinks and and good communication skills.
- Damian (10/5): - Price was right, nothing fancy, but served our purpose. A place to sleep, nice clean bathroom, small fridge and table. We don’t spend a lot of time in our room, a place to sleep and clean up. This was good for that, and location was good. 20 min walk to Kyoto station, and about the same to Gion area. Would stay again. Couple in late 40’s.
- Kit Mui Valencia (8/5): - Maintenance of the hotel is poor as water machibe, etc..out of order.
- Gautej (10/5): - Very close to train stations, amazing ramen around the corner and 7/11 close by.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Condition Rooms - Very clean hotel and hotel room. Everything in the rooms seemed either brand new or extrememly well maintained, it felt premium. Really great spot for our quick weekend trip.
- Dragan (10/5): - The hotel is very good for the price and the location is great!
- Clio (8/5): - Room was clean. Washroom was clean and spacious any japanese bathrooms. It was a bit confusing checking in, I didn't get an email for code but the front staff was helpful. You're not allowed to check in early, but you are allowed to leave your luggage. It will be in the front area with a chain lock, so if you do leave your luggage at the front, make sure you have a lock on your luggage. Ten to fifteen minute walk from the main kyoto station. A bit hidden to find but there will be a sign outside.
- Michael (4/5): - Quite disappointing for Japan standards. Non existent customer service; we had issues checking in as we were supposed to receive some sort of code to enter into the machine but never did. It is a automatic check in counter and if you have an issue you call someone on the phone and they send someone out who have no interest in helping you out either
The electricity in our room randomly stopped working and luckily the service staff, who seem to be foreign as well were kind enough to help out.
Location wise, it’s far from the train station, you might as well pay a bit more to stay closer
- xia (10/5): - I like the bedding. Mattress and pillow and down duvet are nice
- James (10/5): - This property as immaculately clean and tidy. I can not fault it for cleanliness - it’s one of the cleanest places we have stayed. I am so impressed given the affordability and easy of access to public transport (a short 5-10 min walk). Would definitely stay here again.
- grant (10/5): - Bit of a walk from the central station, but a good spot to walk to the markets
- Jason (10/5): - Quiet
- Matthew (8/5): - Had a lovely stay, very pretty neighbourhood.
- Jae (8/5): - Could be cleaner, found a snack bag behind a couch and there was some dust on virtually all surfaces
- Timothée (10/5): - Great value for money, bigger room than the average actually - even though we took one of the first prices.
- Aaron (8/5): - Affordable and relatively close to Kyoto station!
- Laurie (10/5): Great stay - Very clean, comfortable, well located (walkable distance to Kyoto Station and to main attractions). The staff was also very welcoming and useful. We highly recommend it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a great stay! You get so much for the value of a night’s stay. While we didn’t use them, they provided a smartphone and had the option to use their private ryokan.
Our twin room was spacious and we loved that they were eco conscious. The entire hotel was beautiful and the staff were very helpful and kind. For us, the distance was not too bad from Kyoto Station but I could see it being a problem for people who don’t enjoy walking tons or have sore feet! It’s about 1.3km from the station. We paid for one taxi and it was just over 800¥ (at 6am).
Would stay here again if I ever came back and would recommend to friends and family who are budget conscious but want a nice spot!
- Ben (10/5): - Probably the best hotel of the 4 I stayed in. This hotel appeared newer and was more spacious but it was a little farther off. One recommendation was their bikes should be full day rentals and slightly cheaper as they lose out to nearby competitors. Otherwise it is a great hotel. Would stay again
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel, great friendly service - The Glad One hotel is 15 minutes walk from Kyoto main rail station and just 7 minutes walk from Shichijo metro station. It’s situated in a peaceful residential area. Glad One is a fairly new modern hotel with clean spacious comfortable rooms that are above average size (for Japan). The hotel reception staff are very friendly and welcoming and speak good English. Checking in was easy and they even brought up our bag to the room. Aoi Iuchi from reception was particularly helpful during our stay. We initially found that our room had a air conditioner which was not cooling effectively enough, Aoi immediately moved us to another room within 10 minutes of contacting her. She was also very helpful with advice and tips for the most convenient or most cost effective methods of transport for sightseeing locations. We enjoyed our stay with Glad One very much and thank the staff for looking after us.
- li li (10/5): Recommended hotel - It was very comfortable, the room was very clean and nice, very generous with amenities provided, staff were friendly and very helpful. Very good stay!
- Sisters (6/5): - The staff are very friendly although they speak very little English. We are lucky to be able to communicate with one of them who can speak Manderin. The room is very small but the two beds are very big. They could have made the beds smaller to make room for luggage. It is very nice of them to let us store our luggage in the hotel for a short period of time even after we have already checked out.
- Kevin (8/5): Small room small price - Never stayed at a Glad One hotel before. Pictures of the rooms seemed larger then it actually was. Desk staff were very helpful.
- Jiann Yun (10/5): Worth it! - Well equipped room, friendly staff.
Great idea to include complimentary mobile wifi handset for guests to navi on their trips.
Quiet area to get gd rest.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Kyoto Stay - It's a new hotel. Everything's good except that it is a far walk from the Kyoto station and not that easy to find as the hotel is in a small lane.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice environment - Great environment for a good rest, and a good jog. No convenient store within 100m. You could walk about 300m to Macdonalds, convenient stores or eats.
