Guest Reviews
- Donna (10/5): - It was nice and quiet wasnt noisy considering its right on the main blvd. Staff was very courteous and friendly hadnt stayed there in 15 yrs it was a nice change
- Robin (8/5): - Visited 1 night to celebrate a friends birthday.
Just used the room to sleep. Comfy bed,
- joncarl (10/5): - This place is Super value for the money. Clean & convenient. The showers are A+. Marie was lovely
- Nancy (4/5): - I was not impressed by the cost of a room that has plumbing pipes for curtain rods and toilet paper holder. My daughter was getting married in LBI and I came from SC expecting something a bit more elaborate for $250 a night. Just my opinion bcz I've stayed in many hotels in different states. Was not satisfied.
- Lee (10/5): - Renovations 3 years ago. Very contemporary. Sort of Danish modern. Spotless. Great shower and quiet AC. Lighting is cool.
- Sandy (10/5): - Very convenient location and the room was very modern and clean and extremely comfortable!
- Blerta (10/5): - This is our third year staying at the Sea Horse Motel. We enjoyed ourselves immensely, very clean and quiet.
- Jessica (10/5): - Very good ,!
- Kathleen (10/5): - The hotel room was simple, clean, renovated recently
Beds were very comfortable
Great room for a great price during mid summer in LBI
- Joseph (10/5): - The hotel is very nice , and clean , the staff was very friendly
- Laura (10/5): - Our first motel stay at the Sea Horse was great. Staff was friendly, motel was in a great location. The room seemed newly renovated the beds were comfortable, it was a cozy little room. The pool was a nice touch, we were only in the room for sleeping mostly and it was just right for our family.
- 65normanr (2/5): Carbon Monoxide alarm then room was flooded - not a penny of refund given - On our last night of a three night stay, we were awakened at 12:49am by a Fire/Carbon Monoxide alarm siren. We called the emergency phone number posted on the office door and were told by Elena the owner "it is probably a false alarm". Not the most reassuring answer when Carbon Monoxide can kill people, but we hoped for the best. At 5:45am the siren went off again, and this time I noticed water pouring in under the wall. We luckily were able to get all of our stuff out of the room before it got soaked. The owner arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and told us the pipe burst in the office next door to our room. Unfortunately instead of enjoying a relaxing last morning on the beach, we had to evacuate a flooded room. I requested a refund of one night due to our inconvenience. Elena (the owner) agreed to a 50% of one night refund but then when she kept trying to explain that the false alarm in the middle of the night was not her fault, and I kept trying to tell her that it doesn't matter whose fault when your are awakened, she hung up on me then emailed saying she changed her mind and decided to not give me any credit for our inconvenience, and that I should "Do whatever you need to do". So posting this warning to future guests to beware is exactly what I needed to do. Great location, but lousy customer service.
- Bernadette (10/5): - The owner checked us in was friendly easygoing helpful!!!The room was clean bed was comfortable!! Great location !!!!
- Arlene (6/5): - Room was clean and basic.
- Bob (10/5): - Would surly stay here again.
- John Patrick (6/5): - Facility is dated. Our room was too small to accommodate the standard table and chair or two that most hotels and motels have. A/C unit is a wall-sleeve window unit that was very loud, especially when the compressor was running. Pool is in poor condition; there are duck droppings on the deck courtesy of the ducks that inhabit the pool when it is not busy.
- Jane (10/5): - Property was clean. Front desk was very nice and conversational. Felt very comfortable there. Would stay again.
- Erica (8/5): - Clean and convenient location
- michele (10/5): Comfortable stay - Super clean. Very nice room. Nice shower. We were in a room in the back on the ground floor. We had a little table and chairs both inside and outside. The bed was actually quite comfortable and I never feel like a bed is comfortable. They made it super easy to get to the room and it was even ready earlier than check in time which was nice since it was only an overnight stay. We would definitely stay there again.
- PATRICK (10/5): - Na
- Colin (10/5): - Place convient and very clean
- Douglas (6/5): - I actually wrote a very detailed multi paragraph review, but Expedia didn't post it. They didn't explain to me WHY they didn't post it; they just didn't. All that remains is my rating. I'm sorry, but I wasn't happy with what I got for what I paid. A broom closet-sized room with a metal stool and small plank of wood for a "desk" and a bed with rock hard foam mattress. Plus, no maid service or even a functioning ice machine. It was clean, I'll give you that, but it was extremely uncomfortable and too expensive for what it was. I expected a lot more for the cost.
- karengJ5543LV (2/5): Don’t pay in full - I’ll keep this as short as possible. I booked a room for two nights in June 2024 which I paid in full for at the time I booked it. The Monday before check I came down with COVID. I called and spoke to the owner and explained my situation. She said they don’t give refunds but if she rented out my room before checkin she would refund me. After reading a review she never refunded a customer who had to leave because her son had cancer I didn’t trust she would refund me. I had my son call the next day and she said they were totally booked which was a lie because my room was available. I called too a few days later and was told the same. There’s a lot more back and forth with owner even her being angry at me for calling and asking if they were booked. Long story short I’m still waiting for one night refund and it’s December 4th. So don’t pay in full and don’t expect a refund. If you notice her response to negative reviews are always answered unprofessionally she doesn’t take constructive criticism very WELL. I’ve never write bad reviews. But in this case I just wanted to warn everyone.
- Sandra (6/5): - This was a very clean motel, but lacked some basic needs for a longer stay. My sister and I only stayed one night, but anything over 3 nights would be tough especially if more than 2 people are sharing a room. The biggest challenge was that there was only one tiny mirror in the whole room and that was the small vanity mirror above the bathroom sink. So unless you bring your own mirror, only one person can get ready (hair, makeup, etc) at a time. Every hotel room should have a bathroom mirror as well as a full length wardrobe mirror somewhere in the room. We also had a room on the 3rd floor and there was no elevator. So, if you have large luggage or multiple bags, you will feel like you got your workout in for the day. Ground level rooms should be requested for older people or for people with mobility issues. I also think that beach badges should be included in the price of our stay. They were an extra charge of $5 pp per day. The room though for the bare bones that it is, was exceptionally clean. I would consider staying there again if I only need a one night stay, but I’ll be sure to pack lighter. It’s in a great spot on the island, centrally located and close to restaurants and shopping.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was clean and comfortable.
- Concetta (8/5): - I was skeptical at first booking a motel. It had been renovated and was very clean. It was perfect for my one night stay!! They even have a pool!!
- Felix (10/5): - A very nice beach motel, clean, handy, great staff. 3 blocks from the ocean and 3 from the bay. Also has a pool. Nothing is really far as the island is 18 miles long. Good vacation.
- Antoinette (10/5): - The manager was very careful about the property and noted we had left the door open coming to close it for safety. She was courteous and very helpful letting us check in early.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Renovated and comfortable - The room was recently renovated and very nice. Two comfortable beds, a microwave and mini fridge, perfect for my daughter and I. It’s a place I’ll consider if I decide to visit the area in the summer.
- Marguerite6405 (10/5): A Perfect Place for a Spring Weekend Getaway - The woman at the front desk cheerfully greeted us when we arrived. We had a room on the newly renovated third floor. While the room is very basic it was neat as a pin, clean as a whistle, and met all of our needs. The room rate is extremely reasonable too. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.
- David (10/5): - Friendly, courteous staff. Clean room - wonderful!
- Alexis (6/5): - I booked a 1 queen bed and got 2 twin or full beds. No one was there to talk to. There wasnt any extra toilet paper in the room just 1/4 of a roll. The coffe pot wasnt cleaned in i don't know how long and the non dairy creamer packs were as hard as a rock, so probably very old. The room was extremely small and not the room i had booked. Kind of annoyed but the beds were comfortable.
- joan (10/5): - very cozy, I will be back next year for sure
- ambermI997XB (2/5): RIP OFF - First time there. I made a reservation for a week and a half with my son.
My son is a cancer survivor and needed this vacation.
Don't let the photos fool you. There are no dresser drawers. The place is renovated to the capacity to be washed down with a hose, as it is all
cement side. My son got sick, and we had to leave three days earlier. They
said they gave me credit but when I called to use it, they refused me.
They are inhumane and selfish.
- K6921YXphill (10/5): Great Clean Place - Clean, quiet and accommodating.
Management really cares. Loved it. Parking at all hotels is tough but if you park between the lines there is no problem . I can't say enough about how clean the place was. Great for families
- monica (8/5): Nice no frills little place near beach - The location is really good it’s very close to the beach and walking distance to some things on Long Beach bl. It was our first time there and we were happy the place was clean very updated room and bathroom tiny though. Wasn’t given a bath rug for coming out of the shower so had to use one of the bath towels. Paid for beach passes at the desk. Pool was basic nothing special but for a motel it was ok. The rooms were good but very small and for the price I know it’s high season but I paid like $400 per night I feel like that is too much. You pay for the location. Definitely no frills but I appreciate the clean and comfortable beds.
- 789barbaran (4/5): No frills motel - No frills motel. Very basic room. Only amenities was a pool. Office opens at 10 not sure what time it closed but seemed like no one was ever around if you needed anything. I asked for my sheets to be cleaned because they seemed sandy when I arrived but they were never changed. Just didn’t feel comfortable in the room, was a strange smell . Wouldn’t recommend.
- Sara (10/5): Fourth of July stay - Our stay was great. Great location to food, beach and activities. The room was updated and clean. They have a pool onsite that was we used for happy hour. The office staff was accommodating when we requested more towels or supplies. We will stay here again.
- Alyssa (10/5): - The Sea Horse was a great option for a last minute weekend in LBI! Marie at the front desk was awesome! We would definitely stay here again!
- erindR3971DG (10/5): Great Last Minute Find - We needed a last minute stay during the week and were lucky to come across this motel. Staff were friendly and the room was clean and spacious. Our A/C went out but the staff worked quickly to fix it! We loved the pups in the front office too. Highly recommend!!
- Erin (10/5): - Had a great stay! Room was clean and spacious. Staff were very nice and eager to help, had an issue with the rooms AC unit and they fixed it super quick! Happy we found this spot, it was close to the beach and was in walking distance to a few dining options.
- John (4/5): - The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Checking in and out was easy. None of the windows in the room could be opened. They were literally sealed shut so the nice ocean breeze couldn't be enjoyed in the room. One of the reasons we booked a room at this hotel was the pool. Unfortunately the water was filthy. There were actually ducks swimming in it and gross stuff floating in it.
- victoriabK5739OU (8/5): Nice clean motel - Wanted an end of summer getaway and never been in LBI found this affordable motel located on the strip and made reservations on the phone. The room was pretty clean and nicely decorated . It was a little small but good for me and my two daughters. Loved LBI and would stay at this hotel again it was one block from the beach .
- Margaret (8/5): - Very nice and clean. Close to the beach. We enjoyed our stay.
- Steven (10/5): - 11 check out was convenient and the pool is open to use even after check out so we hung out for a little while and enjoyed. Beds were comfortable and AC was easy to adjust.
- Ken (10/5): - Nice place! Easy access to all dining and beach.
- Frank (10/5): stay here - very clean and very friendly
- Don (10/5): - Great location, very good price, friendly and helpful staff, it's all good.
- Margaret (6/5): - When we got into our room it was Not cleaned- bed unmade, dirty towels and awful smell. I went to the desk & the women came to the room & was very upset & immediately upgraded our room. Much better & we were tight for time heading to a wedding
- Russell (8/5): - The Sea Horse Motel in the off season was a good selection for me. It was close to the event I was attending. The room was pretty clean and compact, like living in a tiny house. I would use this place again if I needed to.
- DAVID (10/5): - The room was perfect for one person which is what I wanted. Airconditioning worked well. The second night the weather was cool so I opened the windows for fresh cool air. You could tell the room had been remodelled recently and the decor fit a shore property. The rustic hardware touches in the bathroom added a charm to the room. Felt perfectly safe wallking the area.
- Carly (8/5): - Originally put in a room that was leaking. They quickly changed us to a new room. But the day of check out they were “spraying the parking lot” and needed us to move our car and rushed us out. It was frustrating. But still clean and a nice set up. Definitely served it’s purpose.
- Adiam (10/5): - Clean and good customer service
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We had a leak in our bathroom dripping from the ceiling. We informed the staff who quickly attempted to stop the leak. Their efforts worked for a little while but the leak later continued. We could not stay in the room and the staff ended up being rude and unwilling to work with us on a partial refund. It was an unpleasant experience and I would not recommend this place, especially at it's current price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Centrally located to entire length of LBI, Extremely friendly staff, very clean, will certainly return and recommend to visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rooms have been remodeled. Beds also new and comfortable. Felt safe and quaint for one of the more affordable hotels on the Island.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean. Small but acceptable rooms. Unfortunately our A/C didn't work so we ended up leaving everything in one room and sleeping in another. The staff is helpful and pleasant.
- JiLlAslf (8/5): Clean and friendly - Super friendly when I called to reserve a room and the online portal to reserve room is great. Check-in was a breeze with an extremity friendly Guest services clerk along with her adorable dauschaund pup.
Room was clean and ready to use. Two beds in the room with a round table set, dresser, with small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker. Tv on the wall which helps give the room more space
Basic bathroom with towels and amenities.Bring your own blow dryer and personal soaps as they have breck shampoo and dial soap (it was fine for us).
There was plenty of parking (it’s October) and a 3 minute walk to the beach.
Overall small motel that is clean, neat, and meets the basic needs of going to the beach....a place to rest your head after a day of enjoying LBI a
and everything it offers.
Thank you 💕
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location
- Clinton (10/5): LBI TRIP SEPT 2020 - Friendly, clean, quiet, and a stone's throw from the beach. Excellent choice for me.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Room was very clean and modern. The location is very close to everything there is no need to even get in your car. This is by far my favorite area to stay across LBI.
- PaulP (10/5): - room and hotel were clean and the customer service was great, very accommodating and friendly, would highly recommend.
- Andy (10/5): - The room and common areas were very clean and very well maintained and updated. Only 1 block to the beach.
- LynchFam (10/5): - Great place to stay. Clean room and great pool. Marie at the front desk was very accommodating and helpful. Truly great stay.
- Donna (10/5): - Really nice staff, from the owners/front desk receptionists to the maintenance man and young college kids who cleaned the rooms. Everyone was friendly and helpful. It was clean and convenient. We would love to return next year.
- Dawn (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Room was simple but very clean and comfortable. Beds were nice and we enjoyed the crystal clear pool
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quick trip to LBI - Good motel within a block from beach.
- Michele (6/5): Ok in general but not for the money... - While we would have preferred to stay in a house, this was a last minute trip, so this is what we got. Even though it is right on Long Beach Blvd, the pool was awesome...clean and well appointed, with great music playing. The room was tiny...could barely get around the beds to get into the bathroom. The beds were memory foam and birth the beds and the pillows were extremely comfortable. When it was low tide on the bay, you could smell it though the air conditioner. The filter in the AC needed to be changed.
Here is my biggest problem...the had HS kids cleaning the rooms because they couldn’t get their regular workers from outside the country due to the virus. HS kids can’t clean. This is especially concerning now. I had to have them come back each day and redo. Also, none of the staff was wearing masks while moving about the property and cleaning the rooms. There was also no guidelines in terms of how many people could be in the pool area or any suggestion of distancing while at the pool.
- Dan (8/5): - Clean and neat. Beds were super comfortable. Owners were nice.
- William (8/5): Good time - Friendly place, room was clean, good location.
- Peter (10/5): - Very quick check in. Lady at front desk trying to be funny or witty. A little strange but nice.
- Carolyn (10/5): - This was the perfect location. The beach is very close as well as restaurants and activities. The hotel was very clean and nicely done. Reasonably priced. We will stay here again. So glad to have found this hotel.
- Robert (10/5): great place to stay - great, clean room. friendly staff!
- Theresa (4/5): Don't Bother - They advertise being open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. When we got there, we had to call someone to let them know we were there. We were told our room number, that the door was unlocked, and the key was on the table. The next morning no one was in the office so I had to call to let them know we were leaving. I said there had been an issue (about cleanliness) but no one would come to the room. I never saw one staff member at all. We had people partying until about 3:00AM. Without staff, there was no one to call. If you didn't have a phone you would have been out of luck. I will never stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Convenient to everything great location owner is great to deal with
- Cortney (10/5): - It was a nice stay off season. The room was clean and comfy. I would definitely recommend it!
- Kally (6/5): - It was our first time to stay at a Motel. Not ideal with 2 lively young kids aged 8 & 5. Just not our cup of tea. It was what we paid for to be on LBI during a Winter season.
- Earl (8/5): Great mid week getaway. - Quiet and restful off season. Close to the beach
and restaurants.
- ElijahB05 (10/5): Never a bad time for the shore! - We stay here frequently throughout the year and are always happy with how clean both the room and facility is. Maintenance guy is ALWAYS doing something but doesn’t mind stopping for a quick chat or recommendation on your stay. It’s a beach hotel so no your room isn’t going to be huge but I think it’s plenty of space for what’s available on the island. They also offer beach chairs for rent and Free beach tags with stay!!!The onsite ice machine to help with keeping things cold. Pool is clean and it’s only one block from the beach.
- Carol.Ann. (10/5): - The pool and the staff and Spencer the dog. Loved the place. Draws in the room where musty smelling would not put clothes in them, but did not have too.
- Linn3066 (8/5): Shore vacation - It was so clean and nicely decorated. The rooms are small but cute. The only complaint was the air conditioning. It was loud and shut on and off all night long. Would love to have opened up the windows. Its location is good. Its in the middle of the 18 mile drive . We didn’t have the greatest weather but we were near the beach ( across the main road) and the pool was right in front. I definitely recommend it.
- Ssva13 (10/5): Only place I'll stay on the island - My family and I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad stay. The owner, Elena, as well as the rest of the staff are super nice and go out of their way to make your stay great. The rooms are updated, clean and well maintained as is the pool and grounds. There's even BBQ grills and picnic tables if you just want to relax at the motel.
For us, there's no other motel on the island!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our 2nd year visiting the Sea Horse and we will absolutely make it an annual vacation spot. Check in was quick, room was ready and extreme clean. Beach badges are provided with the beach being only a block away. Pool area is well maintained with plenty of seating. Very close to shops and restaurants. Lastly, very friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Tiny rooms but nice enough - This was our first time to LBI, and I was not familiar with the area. I read the reviews for the hotels, and picked Sea Horse as it had the most positive reviews. The reviews did state the rooms were small, and that was very true. Pretty much the only place to sit was the bed. The room was very dark too. A brighter atmosphere when the room is tight, would have felt better.Upon entering, we had to kill about 7 or 8 flies as well as a dragon fly. That was not great. Our toilet was running and they forgot to clean our room. Although, when I told him about the toilet he fixed it right away. And when i mentioned our room didn't get clean, they immediately gave us fresh towels. So the service was great!! The location was good too, just a short walk to the beach. And far enough from the center where it wasn't too busy. We did drive to restaurants as the better ones were a mile or two in either direction, except for the bagel and more which was a great spot for breakfast that we could walk too. We were there for 3 nights. We didn't use the pool but the area was very clean. It was good to read the reviews beforehand as I knew to bring my own hairdyer and iron.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It is a low end typical beach hotel which is ok but they wanted to put me in room 402 which is a detached garage like building with a single room on first floor and an apartments size up top for a big family. I did not feel safe alone in the backyard on first floor. I left and did not stay. Very very dated facility also.
- mairfair (2/5): Not clean, NOT RECCOMENDED! - I was in a bind and had to book something last minute. They said that they had one room left and so I took it. When I got there I was made to sign something for a beach pass, but then they never gave the pass to me, and I was charged for it. Not only that , but the room was dirty. There was sand on the floor , funky condensation spots on table in front of the coffee maker, and the shower bath tub had some deeply disturbing grime embedded in the corners. No way was I going to take a shower in it. I told them it was too dirty to stay and they said that they were going to charge me anyway. I left and got another hotel room elsewhere. THEY did put the charge through. NOT RECCOMENDED!!!!
- 306TimP (8/5): Wow! Loved it - The entire island was basically sold out by mid week and got lucky getting two nights at sea horse when all the other greedy hotels were asking for 3 minimum!
The room was perfect! Two double beds for the 4 of us , clean, modern feel, cozy.. the concern about the main road being right upfront didn’t matter it wasn’t noisy we slept well and the af kept the room nice and cool.
The staff was extremely friendly and let
Us keep our beach badges for
A couple of bucks after checkout which was nice.
The walk to the beach was just a block and there is a great bagel/ deli shop right next door for breakfast and sandwiches for the beach
Really
Enjoyed everything would
Definitely stay agau
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel was sufficient for our needs with basic amenities. Very clean rooms and property and very friendly staff. The price per night though was similar to a 4-5 star hotel in a major city, but I suppose to be expected in a touristy beach town on the first weekend of summer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This was one of the select few places to stay that was reasonably priced and included a pool. We loved that beach passes were provided for us too so we didn’t have to pay for that. The room was cleaned each day and well taken care of.
- susanlV9316MF (10/5): Surprisingly nice! - We were there for a weekend stay and thought the place was very nice. Clean rooms, although small were very comfortable. The beds were very comfortable although the pillows were a little hard for my preference. This motel had a fridge, microwave and small coffee maker. It was a no frills, but the price was right, clean and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and my room was ready before check in time. I would highly recommend it. We didn’t get a chance to use the pool but it looked very inviting and clean and plenty of seating. And Just 1 short block to the beach. I would definitely go back.
- Schwartzie1969 (8/5): Very cute! - We took an impromptu to LBI for the weekend. We have stayed in a few different hotels on the island. We found this gem and decided to try it. The rooms are small but very clean and seemed to be freshly painted. It had a fridge and microwave, but no hair dryer if you need one. It was perfect! It was about $315 for two nights! And incredible price for the weekend before Memorial Day! Other hotels were double that. The only down side was that the rooms never got dark with the bright lights outside the hotel. The curtain rods probably need to be raised. But I will not let that stop us from coming again. They are also open year round. There is a big pool as well. It looked inviting but was to cold to go in. We will definitely stay here again!
- cliffmagie (2/5): What a mess - 2 day stay, never saw an owner or attendant. Office was locked when I arrived, although I had a reservation. Called the number on the door. My room was unlocked with the key on a table. Not really clean, but ok. Paper thin walls. Next door and above were people who kept TV or radio on 24/7. Yes I could hear it. Could also hear them talk and start vehicles up at all hours of the night. I would never recommend anyone stay here, and it wasnt cheap. Advertized breakfast, but everything locked up and no one there. Couldnt even get ice. Floor was so dirty when I got in the shower, black streaks came from the dirt on my feet.
- Stacey312 (8/5): Good if you pick the right room - First, let me say the price is decent and more importantly the rooms are clean. Everything is clean which is a major plus. Cleanliness is must. The rooms are microscopic. My family and I originally stayed in room on the bottom floor, but after 1 night I had to find something bigger because we were beyond cramped. There were 4 of us and that includes a 5 & 9 year old. I asked to see a suite to see the comparison in size. Room 405 was awesome. The room was pricey however it was huge compared to the room we came from. Not only was the size great which included a living room that had a pull out couch, but a kitchen, fully stocked, a bigger bathroom and most definitely a bigger bedroom that had 2 queen size beds. But, the best part was the water view. Room 405 is a gem. If I were going to stay at the seahorse again I would only stay in that room.
- V9664HDstephanied (8/5): Nice, clean room - Nice family friendly hotel, a block from the beach, clean room, pool, bbq grills available, nice and helpful staff. Walking distance to some shops and restaurants. Free beach passes available with stay.
- trudyg122018 (10/5): Anniversary - Me and my partner of 11 years came to this hotel for our second honeymoon. The entire staff was great and accommodating towards us. The rooms were smaller than expected but very clean. Front desk agent Jason took care of all our needs. They really treated us like part of the family. Will return ASAP
- GPDJES (8/5): Surprised - Thought the seahorse was a little family gem with a good preseason rate. A lot of contractors on island were staying here. Room was very clean, clean linens well kept property and friendly staff. I would stay here again thank you very much when on island for business.
