The breakfast is amazing and the staff and owner are so so helpful. The owner spent a few hours organising an internal flight for us and taxi. The hotel went above and beyond customer service. • Mamametama (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location (both buildings and gardens) and our rooms were wonderful. Loved having a bathtub and the commitment to zero plastic. Thoughtful touches such as mosquito coils and books to read. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful. Homemade touches such as Shan noodles and banana bread. Dragonfruits grown on the property TVs didn't work

• Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful and quiet place to stay - Beautiful villa situated on a hill. 15min comfortable walking to the city center. Delicious breakfast (ordered à a carte). Very eco-friendly (plastic free). Big comfortable room. Only negative point: it is rather cold in the rooms, so a heater included would be great (you can pay for one though). Staff very helpful with recommendations for activities around town.

• Ambler (2/5): Stay anywhere else - So bad I checked out a day early and went to another hotel. 18 hours of no electricity. No back up generator. At one point no water. During rainy season. I ran into other guest in lobby wearing a towel becuase she was unable to shower. Breakfast was good, but took 30 minutes of more to arrive. Waited more than 20 minutes for coffee to arrive. Other tables just gave up and left. I live in Myanmar and have been to Kalaw many times. I will come back to Kalaw. But will never stay here again, I don;t think I have ever forfeited the last night and moved to another hotel in my life.

Lors de notre enregistrement, on nous a donné une chambre classique même si nous avions réservé un supérieur. mais ce n'était pas grave et pas du tout dérangeant; On est venu s'excuser et nous proposer la chambre supérieur. On n'a pas changé finalement. Le quartier très calme en général; mais attention! s'il y ad'autres clients qui partent vers 4hrs du mat ( randonnée? départ? ) ils peuvent faire du bruit. Et la villa s'active pour leur préparer à manger. A part cet incident, nous étions très content de notre bref séjour. A recommander! ( attention les nuits sont fraîches!). N'oubliez pas de jeter le papier toilette dans la poubelle, pas dans la cuvette, partout en Birmanie!)
• James (10/5): Would have loved to stay longer at this retreat - My stay at Hillock Villa and Kalaw was a pleasant escape from the heat of the plains. Temperatures were significantly lower and thoughts turned from air conditioners to duvets. Hillock Villa is up a hill from the town, in a lightly wooded setting. The impression was positive from arrival, given the attractive buildings, grounds, and setting. My room in the main house was large, the bed was comfortable (and made with a duvet and a blanket!). The breakfast was tasty and filling with homemade bread, fruit, local options and eggs....and very good coffee. The walk into town is about 10 minutes. Definitely recommended!

• Fabien (10/5): - Personnel très accueillant et serviable. Très belle maison d'hôte aux allures de chalet alpin. Petit déjeuner copieux. Les patrons sont sensibles à l'écologie et au tri des déchets. Seul bémol, absence de chauffage dans la chambre et les nuits d'hiver sont assez fraîches à Kalaw.

In fact, it was my birthday when I stayed and when i checked into the room, i was welcomed with a big personalised happy birthday message "written" with rose petals on the bed! The rooms are cozy, clean and comfortable as well! Very comfortable night's sleep.

• Wilma Aung (10/5): True taste of Kalaw - Lovely hotel building and awesome breakfast. You can choose either Shan style (Shan noodle or Yellow rice) or western breakfast. It's just a bit inconvenient to take a walk at night as there's no lump along the road to Clock tower. However you may take taxi. I would love to stay there again if I visit to Kalaw again.
