Guest Reviews
- Trevor Cox (10/5): Excellent, high quality friendly accommodation with top restaurant quality food. - Sunday lunch served in the restaurant until 1745hrs was excellent, strip loin meat of excellent quality and a selection of fresh local vegetables. Breakfasts included in the price were of excellent quality and choice, freshly prepared by a chef. Also ate dinner in the bar one evening, varied and individual menu. The room was spacious, well laid out with chairs to sit in as well. Bathroom with a modern walk in shower. The staff throughout were pleasant and helpful.
- David (9/5): Lovely hotel - Quality of facilities and service. The quality of the evening meals.
- Tracey (10/5): Great overnight stay - Lovely comfy rooms, very clean, quiet village setting. The staff were professional & friendly & the breakfast was excellent, great value for money would definitely recommend.
- Nigel (9/5): Lovely place with a great restaurant. - The food was absolutely tremendous. Small double bed
- Ben (8/5): Weekend Stay - A stay with everything we needed. Clean, fresh and comfortable. Breakfasts and evening meal was very good. Good choice at the bar and staff were very attentive. Woken on the first night numerous times to a long loud buzzing noise, which lasted a significant amount of time.
- Peter William (9/5): Excellent - Staff very friendly, Bed was comfortable, everything clean and tidy and the breakfast was a high standard.
- Ashley (10/5): - Everything. I have left a lengthy Google review. This place really delivers. It has great comfortable spacious rooms. The staff are impeccable. The food is outstanding, it's the best food we have eaten in a while. We were in room 5 which was at the front of the building, we had the window open all night and it was still quiet. The curtains must be blackout as there was no light shining through in the morning. We can't wait to stay here again in August. I highly recommend this pub for both accommodation and food. Nothing.

- Jade (9/5): Loved it - Great value lovely rooms Nothing

- Alison (9/5): Lovely stay in a great room. - The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very tasty with a good range of options. The room was beautiful and there were toiletries, water, tea and coffee provided. The family room was really nicely decorated and there was lots of space. The room was lovely. Clean and well presented. It was just quite hot. Not sure if the heating had been on or that the duvets were just too cosy!
- Richard (9/5): Comfortable, very pleasant stay with the best breakfast I’ve eaten in a long time! - It felt like you were stopping with friends, not the normal boring corporate hotel. Nothing
- Paula (10/5): -
- Clare (9/5): Felt like 3 stars does not do justice, should be at least 4 stars in my view - Room was good size. Bed very comfortable. Pub was lovely. Parking great. Nothing, wish we had time to have meal in restaurant in the evening

- Andrew (9/5): - Excellent location, great facilities, friendly staff, breakfast was delicious, and would definitely recommend this establishment. Few cobwebs in the family room and need to sort bath plug out. Would have scored a 10 if those were sorted.

- Terry Clough (10/5): Beautiful accommodation for our visit to Norwich for a 50th Birthday Party - Room Excellent, Breakfast Excellent, Staff Excellent. Pity it is so far out of the city and there are no lifts to access the Bedrooms which are all on the first floor. My 95 year old mother found it difficult to climb the stairs. Location a little bit out of the way, and all the bedrooms are on the first floor and no lift.
- Randell-Sly (9/5): A comfortable stay, with excellent food, in pleasant surroundings. - We arrived as the staff were busy with Mothers’ Day lunches, but they still found time to welcome us and show us to our room. Things had calmed down by the time we went for dinner, but everything on the special Mothers’ Day menu was still available, served by friendly and helpful staff. The food was fresh and perfectly cooked and I even received a special Mothers’ Day gift bag. Our room was well appointed and very clean, as was the bathroom, complete with thick, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries. breakfast was superb, with good quality ingredients and cooked to order. We will definitely stay again! The carpets are a little tired.

- petra (9/5): -
- Claire (7/5): Very good breakfast!! - Forgot my dinner order, waited over an hour before it eventually arrived. They didn’t charge for the dinner, just the glass of wine I had. Probably could have given that to me free to be fair.
- Kathryn (10/5): A perfectly comfortable stay with a great service from staff - Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Full English breakfast was yummy.
Black Swan lager was very nice
Room was spotless and comfy
Evening meal was very nice Crispy bacon with liver wasn’t any where near crispy 🤣
BUT it was delicious all the same 👍
- Maria (8/5): A most comfortable stay in a very nice establishment - The property was very well maintained, all in really good decorative order. The staff were polite, professional and friendly It’s a personal thing but I find the perfumed aspect of freshly laundered linen a bit heady -but this really is a personal preference and not a complaint
- Carl (9/5): Would stay agin no issue - Location, ambiance and breakfast Room a little small
- Nicolas (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Susanna (8/5): Charming and comfortable modernised old inn with stylish rooms - A beautiful old building, very tastefully furnished, warm and cosy and beautifully decorated, ready for Christmas. The tables and public areas had vases of fresh flowers (always a nice note). Our standard double room was very compact but stylish and well equipped. The bed was large and extremely comfortable and we both slept really well. The whole place was spotlessly clean. The staff were all young and friendly but essentially left us to our own devices, with no signing in on arrival or seeing us out. A big shout-out to Lily, who was extremely helpful on the phone when we were delayed and lost arriving, made sure the restaurant could feed us and gave us helpful recommendations for sightseeing. She’s a natural! Although plentiful, nicely plated and cheerfully served, we both found the cooking a little erratic e.g. slow roasted tomato that was fridge-cold in the middle, Asian Slaw that was just a heap of dry peeled carrot and raw white cabbage, breakfast porridge that wasn’t cooked and creamy but more like raw overnight soaked oats. You overlook the odd bum note from a busy inn kitchen but at gastro-pub level prices we winced and said nothing. The plumbing noises from the adjoining bedroom were startlingly loud, although short lived! Thankfully, despite being directly over the busy bar, pub chatter was muted and everything was totally quiet after closing time.

- Victoria (10/5): It was a great stay had a lovely relaxing time away. - Beautifully situated in the village great base to access other areas Our room was incredibly hot in the evenings as our bedroom window wouldn’t stay open but hot weather wasn’t helping . Other than that it was perfect the reason we keep coming back to stay . All of the staff impeccable and friendly.
- Graham (10/5): Our stay was perfect and lovley staff - The breakfast was great and location was good
- Sara (9/5): Very nice, staff lovely and helpful. Gorgeous surroundings - The location is beautiful, in a lovely village next to a village green. Friendly, helpful almost family atmosphere. They remembered I'd wanted a bath, even though the single room I'd booked didn't actually have one. When I arrived I was shown to a double room they had free ... with a bath! Much appreciated!
Great breakfast too. Didnt like the avocado on my potato rosti, it wasnt fresh avocado as I'd expected.
- Loraine (8/5): Great place to stay, breakfast excellent, room great, staff friendly and cheerful. - Room was comfortable and decorated to a high standard, added touches like toiletries in bathroom, room had biscuits and bottle water and tea/coffee making facilities. Full English Breakfast was exceptional.
- Denise (10/5): Perfect and Chilled weekend - We love staying there ! Went 3 times last year ! Love everything about The Black Swan No complaints
- Robert (8/5): Good stay - Very good Nothing
- Angela (10/5): A very lovely experience - The staff were amazing. So kind and helpful. A perfect location. Very pretty village, easy parking. Very good food. Nothing
- Janine (9/5): Great spot, lovely staff, good food. - Lovely historic inn. Rooms were nice and quiet - reasonably compact, but enough room to move. The kitchen was able to accommodate my dietary requirements (coeliac), which was much appreciated. Nothing.
- MICHAEL (9/5): - Been here on previous days and always looked after & room/Inn facilities always very good. Nothing really that needs a mention.
- Rachael (10/5): -
- Allman (9/5): - Nice and clean, friendly, warm and comfortable Breakfast was a bit disappointing..
Coffee was poor, food not very hot.
Service was very good though
- keeler (6/5): -
- Jilly (8/5): Lovely stay - Friendly and clean
- Karen (9/5): Fantastic stay, beautiful room and delicious breakfast - The room was beautiful, decorated lovely and a really good size. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and delicious. The only 1 comment would ge the single bed in the family room was extremely squeaky on the slightest movement. That is literally the only negative.
- paul (10/5): -
- grahamg201 (10/5): Very Enjoyable Stay - We booked this inn as we were attending a funeral near by. As soon as we walked into our room we knew we had chosen well.
A spacous spotlessly clean room, number 11, with a comfortable bed and a very powerful shower.
The room, which was very quiet, was in the newer part of the inn over-looking the car park.
Breakfast was included in the price. And cooked to order.
We also had an evening meal at the inn.
We would highly recommend the Black Swan.
- 325JohnC325 (10/5): Perfect B&B in lovely country inn - This is a lovely country pub with excellent, modernised accommodation. We stayed for one night while visiting friends in the area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and we were served a delicious, freshly cooked breakfast. Would definitely stay again if we need accommodation in the area.
- Day (9/5): Good food friendly staff - Excellent breakfast served by friendly staff

- Kirsten (10/5): Amazing - The food was amazing, great selection to choose from, staff were lovely, couldn't fault anything,
- Kevin (10/5): Excellent hotel - All very good
- David (9/5): Very good - Nice to have a fried breakfast cooked to order, my wife reckoned it was the best breakfast she had had. We were in room 8 at the end of the corridor, at times there was the noise of the central heating kicking in which was a bit annoying
- Linda (9/5): A gem in the hospitality field - This is the second time that I've stayed here and it doesn't disappoint. Easy to get to from the main road routes and airport, ample and well lit parking on site, lovely rooms, spotlessly clean, ample supplies in the rooms of beverages, water and biscuits to refresh you after your journey. Ample toiletry supplies too. The rooms are mainly up short flights of stairs and at night, despite being a pub, there is no noise.
The staff are very helpful and polite and a special shoutout to the housekeeping staff for the rooms. Always friendly, polite and smiling. We needed a footstool to help a senior person into a high vehicle and the housekeeper found us one within minutes to use. Very kind and much appreciated.
Breakfast is good and brought to your table and nothing is too much trouble for the staff in the restaurant and bar.
The dinner in the restaurant was ample and very good and well priced.
If you're visiting this part of Norfolk, then you won't go far wrong booking yourself in here. Go on....treat yourself! I find the bed a tad too firm, but don't pay any heed to that, that's just my preference and I find it's much the same wherever I stay!
