My husband and i were traveling with our toddler and this room allowed plenty of space for him to explore. The breakfast was fine enough, though a few of the tables were a bit sticky. I will say though, the location of the hotel was great. It's right next to a grocery store, a gas station, and a few restaurants. It's in very close driving distance to a little bit of shopping as well

- chachamatina (8/5): Nice Stay in Big Rapids - Typical Hampton Inn. There was construction going on but it wasn't an issue. Front desk staff were very nice which I appreciate. I had a nice chat with the ladies at the front and they were pleasant and lovely. I accidentally spilled coffee in the hallway outside my room and called down and the lady at the front was very kind. I told my husband do not use a towel to soak it up and the lady at the front confirmed that as we would likely incur a charge for staining the towel. The young woman who came to clean it did so quickly and it was like it never happened which was good because I felt really bad about it. I even apologized to her when I saw her cleaning it and she was so nice about it. Room was clean and comfortable but definitely could use an update. Weird stains on the ceiling and peeling wallpaper in the bathroom. Breakfast was standard Hampton Inn with hot and cold options and of course waffles, which I always enjoy. I would love more plugs by the bed but it wasn't awful or anything. I would also love firmer pillows, but again, not a huge problem. Barn style sliding door on the bathroom was weird. Location is very good, close to the freeway, restaurants, and stores, Meijer is right next door. Good Wifi which is always appreciated. AC was very strong (it was hot out so that was great). Would stay again when in the area.

It’s in dire need of a remodel as the toilet could only be flushed by pulling the chain inside the tank and the bathroom door knob was falling off. The staff couldn’t keep up with food prep, so my husband got a tablespoon of each hot food. Needed more staff to help.

- garyeE4271WT (2/5): A Distinct Lack of Honesty - They have put a $125 charge on my credit card for a reservation I NEVER made AND a credit card I never gave them. I made a reservation at the hotel across the street. (Country Inn & Suites) The Country Inn & Suites called me a few days b4 check in and said their roof was leaking from a big storm, and they could move my reservation over to The Hampton Inn & Suites. I said I wanted to talk to them FIRST, as to what kind of room I was getting, etc. The young lady said to wait 15 minutes so she could call them and talk to them. I assumed it was to explain the situation (“reservation moving”). So, I waited. At 2:24 EDT on March 21st I called The Hampton, I let the phone ring TWELVE times, NO ANSWER. At this time, I went back to the Country Inn website and cancelled the reservation. As I had developed a bad feeling about the customer service at The Hampton. It was the ONLY reservation I had, OR SO I BELIEVED. Now you may say that this is not really The Hampton’s fault, I beg to differ. 3 weeks ago, I disputed the charge with my Credit Card company, ALL The Hampton did was to send a statement showing “my reservation” they didn’t bother to say ANYTHING about it being transferred from the Country Inn. So my Credit Card company called the charge "legitimate". I NEVER knew they (Country Inn) had "moved" my reservation to The Hampton w/o my permission or knowledge. I had no way of knowing I had to cancel a "2nd" reservation. Not to mention giving my credit card info to another business W/O telling me. WTH??? $$ talk everything else is not important. So YES, I do blame the Hampton for not being honest about WHAT THEY KNEW. So, it’s now a month later and I’m still fighting this BS. With ZERO satisfaction. The final irony, I am a rewards member w/Hilton Hotels, the owners of The Hampton...

The only drawback is the bathroom faucet is miserably designed and flows down very low into the center of the sink (terrible design for anyone wanting to brush their teeth while staying. Lol). Breakfast was good, tons of options and was available to 10am, which is nice compared to some other hotels. Checkout also was at noon, rather than 11 which I also appreciated.

- Tad (4/5): Bad Night, Poorly Staffed - I was in meetings all day and checked in at about 10PM. The room was clean but very warm, 75 to 80 degrees. I turned on the air conditioner to lower the temp to 70, and about 5 minutes in, the AC started to make a horrible noise that lasted for about 5 minutes. I waited a bit and this process continued about every 20 minutes, 15 minute of quiet and then 5 minutes of horrible rattling, I called the desk and was told they were sorry but the maintenance staff had gone home and that they were full. I had to sleep in a room that was about 80 degrees all night long, and all the hotel staff had to say was "We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay."

The mini fridge however was not operating properly, the front desk staff attempted to locate one but there none were available. We loved everything else about the room and our two nights there.

- May (6/5): - Stayed for one night. Staff was polite. Beware, Pool is only 4ft deep, which I dont think that's listed anywhere on the site. Buffet breakfast was basically over when we came down at 9am, though it says 6-10am. The room was fine but could have been cleaned more thoroughly. Location was convenient with Culver's & Ruby Tuesday nearby if you want a couple of quick eats with Meijer just a few steps away.

- summertimeMichigan (10/5): I would stay here again - Very friendly staff at check in and breakfast. Room was clean and quiet. Pool area was clean. Breakfast area was clean and lots of variety. Mentioned the coffee wasn’t very hot and the breakfast attendant fixed the issue right away. I would stay here again.

- GWaters712 (10/5): Warm and helpful staff. - This stay was while we were beginning our tour of northern Michigan, my home state (we live in AZ now). I do not know the age of this Hampton Inn but it is kept in perfect condition. When we entered to check in Angela at the front desk greeted us warmly. Check in was quick. Our room was nicely appointed and included a couch. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was PERFECT. Anytime you saw a staff member we were greeted with a hello. The breakfast area was very spacious and kept clean. Angela (the same one from yesterday late afternoon) helped out. You could tell she likes to stay busy and be of help anyway she can. I highly recommend this property.
- Nancy (10/5): 50th High School Reunion - Picked The Hampton Inn for a reunion get together. Had connecting rooms and another across the hall. Loved everything about our stay! Comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, and front desk staff. Thanks, Emma and Mariah for being so welcoming and making sure we had connecting rooms. I will definitely stay here again.
- brianjconnell (10/5): Room was large and clean. The front staff were very helpful. - The font desk were very responsive resolving an issue. During a busy breakfast time, I needed help starting equipment in the gym. I had assumed it would take a while but within minutes someone had inspected the equipment, sought advised, returned to resolve the issue and then returned again to replace the water in the water cooler.
- deborah (10/5): Big Rapids - Good location-walking distance to Meijer and Culver’s. Comfortable and clean. Breakfast was not up to high standards. They ran out of yogurt and fruit selection was very limited. Powdered eggs?

- Richard (8/5): A good place to rest your head - Probably the best hotel in the area. Rooms are large, bed is comfy, and whole place is relatively quiet. The bathroom is the best bit, remodeled and with a huge shower instead of a tub. Breakfast is just OK (although the waffle machine is a nice touch).

- charlesbL5266QO (10/5): A Solid Choice - This Hampton delivered great value for the money. My daughter and family are moving to the area so we used this location as our center for exploration. The rooms are squeaky clean and the AC worked just fine. I am a stickler for a hot morning shower and had no problems with temperature or pressure. The morning breakfast was a nice touch and staff kept the coffee and food flowing. The staff at the front desk would always greet you with a smile as we made multiple trips through the lobby. This Hampton is a solid choice for travelers! Hint: there is a Meijer store across the street from the Hampton which has all the things you forgot to bring on your trip. We bought wine and snacks for the room!
