Steven (6/5): Beautiful but too many rules. - Beautiful setting, very nice place but too many rules. Also, be forewarned, no televisions in the room and the lounge tv is large but on such a low volume that it is practically worthless. Nice breakfast.

Rene (8/5): Quaint and quiet - My family stayed here for 2 nights while we explored the South Coast. The cabin we stayed in was very cute. The farmland surrounding the property was very peaceful. My only complaint was that I breakfast was not included in our stay, even though I thought the booking said it was. Also, the management was not overly helpful with local recommendations when I reached out to them.
Kumar (6/5): - The AC did not work at all and we could not sleep both nights. The owners response was to leave the windows wide open. We did not feel safe. The food is terrible. They would not even give me coffee to go. Bad property. Would not stay again.

Was unable to squeegee bathroom completely, even with multiple tries. Sulfer smell throughout room due to water not draining in bathroom. Was unable to use hot tub due to it not being warm. Decent breakfast - good yogurt bar. No shoes in hotel.

Patricia (8/5): Prima voor 1 nacht - Prima plek voor één nacht. Goede bedden, prachtig uitzicht, heerlijk rustig. De finishing touch kan net wat beter. Een stoel met veel vlekken, een krom mes, een scheef gordijntje voor de keukenplank, erg veel haren overal, reservedekens in de badkamer. Maar prima voor een rondreis.

Josh (8/5): - Beautiful location and very convenient if traveling between south coast and golden circle. Adorable cottage perfect for a family and super clean. Only thing to beware of is decision about dinner. They offer a set menu which comes out to $60 usd per person (even children). After reading other reviews, we decided to try it expecting something really amazing and Icelandic. While the food we received tasted good and there was nothing inherently wrong with it, we were absolutely shocked at the price point for what we received... chicken curry with rice (like we make in slow cooker at home) along with some basic mushroom soup and average salad. While Iceland is known to be expensive, when we spent this amount of money at restaurants all over, it was for wow-factor food and alcohol included. This was by far the most underwhelming meal of our trip and one of the most expensive. I'm sure some of their meals are sure to be worth it and taste excellent, but if you are going to commit to that amount of money on a meal (the price per plate of expensive fine dining), then it would probably be best to know what it is ahead of time. I know we would have never chosen that meal and price had we been told. Overall, this is a lovely spot and I highly recommend as a place to stay as long as you plan ahead for dinner :)
Kara (10/5): - The staff were very friendly! Signage was easy to follow. The cottage was very spacious and had a great view. We had a cat visitor during our stay. They have a hot tub which was clean and easy to access. Overall great experience and value!
Marianne (2/5): Disappointing experience! - I stayed at this hotel in February 2025 for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Starting with the bad: Broken heater in Room 6: Upon arrival, the host, Stefano, explained that the individual thermostat in the room controls the temperature, and that it takes about two hours for the room to adjust. Despite following the instructions and increasing the temperature on both nights, the room remained cold and uncomfortable. It became clear that the heater wasn't functioning properly. I informed Stefano, who came to check the room, acknowledged the coldness, and apologized for the inconvenience. Cold and humid room: The room felt damp and uncomfortable, which made it difficult to relax. Outdated amenities: The value for money was disappointing. The hotel charges high prices for rooms with outdated features, including a leaking sink in the bathroom, which made the overall experience feel far below expectations. Ending with the good: Cleanliness: The hotel places a strong emphasis on cleanliness, which I appreciated. Guests are encouraged to use slippers within the hotel, ensuring a higher standard of hygiene. In conclusion, I had high expectations, but the combination of a broken heater, cold and damp room, and high prices made this stay incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel unless these issues are addressed. and Staff is gaslighting you after presenting excuses for the discomfort.
VENEET (10/5): - Great property to see the northern lights in winters. The property recently built a new wing with very modern, clean and practical rooms. You can't go wrong with this property.

We were there in the winter and lucky enough to see the northern lights from the porch. Easy to drive to nearby towns for sightseeing or groceries. Best breakfast buffet of the three places we stayed in Iceland.

Robert (10/5): - We stayed in the single cabin room/suite (of which there are 8 on the hillside). You take a nice paved road in from highway 1 until you reach the guesthouse area. Everyone is super friendly and the rooms are comfortable and quaint. We purchased the breakfast add-on and that was delicious. It was a great experience as part of our travels.

Walking around the property and petting some of the horses completed the experience. The guest houses were beautiful, clean, and secluded from the daily hustle. Highly recommended lodging in Iceland.

john (10/5): - Cabin 3 needs to have the lock replaced since the strong winds have damaged it. Otherwise, very tranquil and idyllic lands. Curious horses, cats, and farm animals will beg for food by approaching you.
Hector (10/5): - It was amazing, super friendly staff, we took advantage of the laundry service and breakfast. The laubdry service was quick and all our clothes were neatly packed. Breakfast was good, with several options to choose from.
Jessie-claire (10/5): - We got a 2brm unit. I was really nice and staff were great. Being honest our son showered for 10mins a then the next person got a minute and it was arctic water. The three of us left had to boil pots of water and bathe. It was an experience. You need to book ahead if you want dinner on site at 7pm as there is nothing else in the area to eat or shop before you arrive and there is a little kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. The breakast/dinner which you have to drive too is beautiful, cosy hall and the breakfast food was great. Overall a really nice experience.

David (10/5): - Great guest houses. Main office has a dining room that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Must reserve before the meal so they know how many to cook for. It’s a horse ranch and you can watch the horses or book a horseback trail ride. Hosts are very hospitable and units are clean and convenient for a family or a couple.

I do wish the hot tub was located closer to the cabins as it was too cold to shower, head to the main building, get in the hot tub, then head back to the cabin while in wet swimming suits.

Junho (8/5): - Beautiful cottage, stayed at cottage #1. Radiator worked fine to warm us up over night with extra blanket and pillows backed up. Cute furry friends (1 dog and 1 cat) may want to say hi outside of your doorstep. Shower was only inconvenience as water was flooding outside of shower booth as the water stopper broken and no other water outlet available except shower booth. There was one floor wiper equipped there so for you to wipe the floor by yourselves.
Dorothy (10/5): - Nice property. The only issue was that we were asked to take our shoes off when entering which made it quite inconvenient if we had left something out in the car. The cost to have laundry done was quite high so we opted not to have it done. The rooms were well appointed. I wanted to take advantage of the hot tub but the weather prevented using it.
Judith (8/5): - The property was bit hard to find with Google, but the picture of the main house helped. We opted for dinner and spent $57.00 US on a soup, salad, chicken leg, potatoes and dessert. That was much more than an equivalent meals elsewhere in the country. There were no options as the food was prepared for the group and served all at one time. The food was okay, but not worth the price.

Chen (10/5): - This is one of the best accommodations we stayed in Iceland during our weeklong trip. The cabins are located on a beautiful hill overlooking a neighboring horse farm. Horsing are roaming around. When weather is good, it looks like a dream. The cabins are simple and basic but kept very clean. Check-in was super smooth. Be sure to pre-book your dinner or breakfast to enjoy the family style meals provided by the hotel. My group thoroughly enjoyed the stay here and our teens wanted to go back again.
JULIAN (10/5): - Stay here after your Golden Circle day trip if you plan to continue east the next day. The property is incredible, serene, and the staff is wonderful. Make sure to include yourselves for the meals!

The staff provided us each with bathrobes to use at the hot tub and showed up with wool hats to keep our heads warm - which we definitely needed. The cabins were compact but had everything we needed. Verified traveler (10/5): Hestheimar Overnight stay - This was a rural property and very nice. It would have been our best place we stayed in to see Northern lights but the weather did not cooperate. They had food available for purchase but we got on the road early and didn't buy breakfast. Again we had to remove shoes at front door, but slippers were provided.

No soap at all in shower to use for 3 adults to wash. We paid alot of money to stay.1 night and was not what we expect from a guesthouse rated at 3 stars on expedia. N o r value for money spent. We will have to wait.for morning to see how breakfast included is of quality and if clean dining experience.

Verified traveler (4/5): - This was certainly the low point of our journey around West and South Island. We stayed at guest houses and luxury cottages and smaller cottages. This place left a terrible impression. This place is a fair distance from both Selfoss and Hella so not convenient. As a previous reviewer commented, we entered the reception area and a young man in a small office brusquely pointed to a map indicating where our unit was and that the key was on the table inside. He asked if we wanted breakfast for a large additional fee, and when we hesitated he asked “is that a yes or no?” That was it. We also did not experience the hospitality others had. I would have preferred a polite email indicating the unit number and instructions rather than this terrible exchange. The unit was spacious but not well equipped and the mattresses were past their prime. There are so many amazing places to stay in Iceland, with pleasant and engaging hosts. Spend your money elsewhere.

Wai Chi (10/5): A home away from home . - Though we stayed there for just one night we were impressed . It is one of the cottage rooms in the country side in the south coast . The scenery is beautiful around the cottage . The room we stayed was clean and well kept and spacious not to mention the clean spacious private bathroom . The kitchen in the cottage for tenants to share was also clean and well equipped . We cooked breakfast and dinner in the kitchen in order to save our cost of travelling .

Dustin (10/5): Cozy cottage on the countryside - Nice and clean, cozy cottage situated on the countryside. The in-room mini-kitchen was perfect and the views were magnificent. Easy check-in and friendly management.
Lei (8/5): Kids will love this hotel - We chosed this hotel because it was converted from a horse ranch, and assumed we could conveniently do horseback riding there. Unfortunately we arrived too late, and didn’t have any opportunity to do that. A horse barn is next to it. My daughter loved watching and taking pictures of those beautiful horses. The hotel itself was clean, warm and pretty, and offered paid decent breakfast with great views.
Verified traveler (2/5): - It was a tiny room with two twin beds and an extra mattress in between the twin beds. We could not stay there and so left key at the receptionist and went looking for accommodation elsewhere. I request full refund.

Paul (10/5): - I hadn’t realized when I booked it that the hotel was far out of town amid beautiful horse pastures. That was a pleasant surprise. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I had to call twice on my way to say we would be late and then to request help finding the hotel. Monica was kind and pleasant. When we got there, we were greeted very warmly. The area is beautiful and quiet. The room is modern, clean and comfortable.
