We were able to spend time relaxing at the pool one of the highlights for us was the beautiful beach....feeding and swimming with the leather back turtles. an incredible experience! Just wish I could have stayed longer I will certainly return!

• Nina Du Thaler (7/5): - Rooms were functional and clean. The resort is positioned on a beach cove and features a lovely pool. It was in a great location (walking distance) from where we needed to be. We found the reception staff to be less than friendly and a little bit lazy. In my bathroom, the flexible shower head was not attached to anything. I could use the fixed shower head but the flexible one had long been out of commission.

• Kathryn (8/5): Sooriya, far from the madding crowd - Sooriya Resort is a midsize hotel in a remote and lovely setting. Everything about it is well-designed and luxurious. I had a special room with an expanded view and I spent hours just gazing at the sea. The saddest thing about lovely luxurious hotels is that air conditioning requires that doors and windows be kept shut and I REALLY wanted to listen to the sound of the sea. Always a rebel, I left my window open for a bit and filled my room with flying insects. Oops.
• EWJ (8/5): Prima hotel met oceaanview. - Schitterend uitzicht over de oceaan. Mooie grote kamers en groot balkon met uitzicht op de oceaan. Goede warme krachtige douche. Kamer en bepaalde delen van het hotel hebben renovatie nodig (gescheurde tegels), de glanzende tegels in de hotelkamer laten alles zien (in ons geval zwarte haren en wij zijn allemaal blond). Ontbijtbuffet was prima maar we hebben in vergelijkbare hotels betere gehad. Zeker qua hygiëne en uitstraling.

Some of the worst service in Sri Lanka we experienced on our 14 days trip through the country. Breakfast, if you can call it that was so terrible we just stopped eating. The pictures are lying and the hotel is not what you think it is.

• Keerthi (8/5): - Friendly staff and facilities at the hotel are good. Nearest beach is a rocky beach. Last few KM of the road leading to the hotel is very poor. This section needs to upgrade and possibly out of hotel managements' control. They may need to coordinate with the neighboring hotels and the local authority. However, signs leading to the hotel from the main road is not very clear. Google maps lead to a circuitous route. Need to upgrade the signs leading to the hotel in every junction and this is under hotel management.
• Sabine (9/5): Superb - The staff were very friendly and tried their best to please us by meeting all our requests and needs. Prasanna at reception was fantastic, especially in helping us organise tours. He recommended Suji as our personal driver, who took very good care of us throughout our week-long stay, and we could trust him completely. The resort itself is beautiful and tranquil, set within lovely and very large gardens rich in flora and fauna. The view of the beach running along the coastline from the large pool and outdoors terrace was stunning. Our rooms were extremely big with a lovely and spacious terrace. The food and buffets were delicious. I would highly recommend this resort as it is gorgeous and amazing value for money. We didn't want to leave. Thank you so much Prasanna and Suji for making our stay wonderful.

The location is far away from civilisation (20 min by tuk tuk) but this was what we wanted 😀. Windows was not clean. It is a big disadvantage if you choose your room because of spectacular wiew 😀
• Rose (1/5): Terrible unprofessional service & tired hotel - The comfortable bed and the view out to sea. The customer service, unprofessionalism and personal attack because of valid concerns about my stay. Broke data protection laws disclosing private information from an email on trip advisor response. Gym equipment broken, rusty and not up to standard, multi gym unsafe to use. Raised some other concerns all of which not acknowledged appropriately and hard core inappropriate defence, also lied because I had not taken photo evidence, which I believe would not be necessary if you stayed at a decent hotel with standards that listened to genuine concerns. Wrote a personal and slandarous attack against myself because I had raised issues which were not appropriately dealt with.
• Craig (7/5): Very good value for the money - Large and comfortable room with great views overlooking the ocean, the gardens and the pool. The pool was amazing in the morning. Reception staff were very accommodating fixing problems. Our last day of stay housekeeping woke us up and we're entering the room well before 8am to ask if we were checking out now not even 8am.. we reported this event to the reception staff who were incredibly apologetic. Whilst the food from the kitchen staff was generally quite good, it should be noted that the carbonara is made with a very heavy cream milk, which we thought was unusual and a little bit sickening. The chef was very rude when confronted with my Italian wife's feedback about this.
• Stephanie (2/5): - Getting to the property is inconvenient because there is no road to it, it’s just a sand path. The structure of this hotel is beautiful, with beautiful views. The problem is the way the hotel is managed, is it a big rip-off and we will be asking for a refund.

Not worth the money at all. Very dated, and breakfast wasn’t great - buffet style, and saw staff using the same spoon for vegetarian curries as fish curries. As a vegetarian, this wasn’t ideal. Facilities outdated also

• Shantel (10/5): my entire stay was the best mediation and recovery stay I could ever imagine plus being about to doing many tours as wel - once you arrive at the property you greeted with great customer service. I was offered Soursop which from the previous reviews there were issues about being forced to drink it. I would not say I was forced but the drink is given to give your body a kick start to wellness treatment to help promote healthy values to your body. the staff were not forceful to me at all. They were so helpful and nice every step of the way. From the massages and great Sri Lanka food to the nutrition drinks and sea turtle watch areas, Hospitality transportation everything was great. Plus on my last day before going home I stepped on sea urchins and everyone there gave me immediate attention to the hospital and making sure I made it to my flight on time. I can not thank them enough for everything. if you ever get a chance to stay here please take advantage of the Chefs cooking and the masses ( because the massage treatment are like no other and actually help promote fat removal if you get the Sauna everyday thru your stay if your staying more than a week. also if your expecting this place to remind you of your regularly living arrangements then you may need to re-evaluate your expectations this place is a wellness resort to get away from noise and to give you peace and serenity and meditation but you can arrange outside tours with groups and local shopping fishing and many excursions as well. there are no complaints about this property at all.

Cet hôtel est très spatieux, le personnel a l’écoute et sympathique. Proche de l’un des hot spots pour l’observation des tortues marines. Un hôtel à recommander pour les familles ou pour passer de longues journées à marcher sur les plages sauvages.

• Dommange (10/5): Perfect place - The 270 Panoramic view room is amazing, breathtaking. It was clean and well equipped. Such a pleasure to enjoy the pool and the gym with a beautiful view. The food is very good, so many choice for the breakfast buffet. The staff is so lovely and helpful. Thank you very much
• Alejandra (8/5): Very good hotel, great staff! - Rooms were really big and comfortable, cleaned and nicely decorated. the view is to die for! staff was very professional and attentive. Breakfast offered many dishes, especially if you like more topical dishes. staff was great! pool was nice and outdoor area ideal for reading, sleeping and relaxing. wifi connection did not work and we basically didn’t have wifi during the day. they fixed it and it was working at night. location was very secluded, nothing wrong with it, but bear in mind. ideal if you would like to stay away from people and noise. In general a very good stay, however not worth the price we paid per night.

• Naseer (10/5): - This hotel is one of the best hotels we have stayed in Sri Lanka. The staff are extremely friendly and the food excellent and well presented. The kitchen staff were ready to serve you with customized dishes and drinks. Gamini the chef personally greeted us and made sure we were served well. Room service was to time and the lady at the Spa was knowledgeable and gave us the best foot massage so far in our travels. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation to anyone who wants a super experience in beautiful Tangalle Sri Lanka. Happy and pleasant travels!!

• Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at Sooriya Resort & Spa for 14 nights. The staff were very friendly and attentive, helping us book tuk tuks as well as recommending day trips out. The lifeguard ensured that we always had fresh towels, and was very knowledgeable of the wildlife in the area which we were particularly interested in. The resort and rooms are cleaned to a high standard, with faultless facilities. Although the resort is not in the heart of Tangalle, this didn’t prevent us from trips to National parks, temples and other cities. The beach and pool were great on days we stayed at the hotel to relax, the food was always made fresh and tasty. Overall I would definitely recommend Sooriya Resort & Spa as a place to stay on your visit to Sri Lanka!
• Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is completely a subjective thing, but for us it was too far out from town. The nearby beaches are nice and secluded but there's nothing there, places to eat, drink etc. If you're after seculsion, peace and quiet then this is the place. There seemed to be a lot of animals around which was cool, I think it is a conservative area. Saw two different snakes by the pool, lizzards etc. The reception staff were ok, they were young and that shines through.

• Stefan (10/5): Excellent hotel - The hotel is located in an off area, but once there, the property was excellent. At first we found the access to the main beach a bit challenging, but after we had navigated over some rocky patches of seafront on front of the hotel, we realized that there was a fork in the access road to the hotel that also led there, and this was just a simple 5 minute walk. Very nice beach where we were almost alone bar local fishermen and the occasional other hotel guest. The food was great as was the pool area. Only downside was the fitness room, which was very basic (only a single treadmill, for example - Of course already in use when I went there), and VERY hot. Seemed the air condition was by far undersized. But overall, great. Also quite cheap, so excellent value for money. We only stayed one night, but I would have been happy to extend if our travel schedule had allowed.
• Ashish (10/5): Awesome views from room, private beach, nice spa - My wife and I had an ocean-view room and the views were just awesome! Huge windows made us feel like we were right by the ocean. We got up early and walked out to the beach to watch the sunrise. Later we strolled along the secluded rocky beach, saw lots of crabs and reefs, and collected some shells. We also got a couple of spa treatments -the masseuses were great. The swimming pool seemed nice too, but the sun seemed quite intense, so we didn't really feel like stepping inside the pool, but saw quite a few other guests relaxing and sunbathing by the pool. The breakfast was good, but it would be nicer if they had a few more vegetarian options. The wifi could have been better. While the wifi coverage itself was ok, after connecting our devices to it, a page would be displayed requiring us to confirm the connection before we could get online - the issue was this page would take forever to load! Considering the cell reception is spotty in the hotel area, it would have been good if connecting to the wifi was a little more seamless. The last 5-6 km of the road leading to the hotel (Rekawa road) was bumpy, and as the hotel nears, it turned in to a dirt road (Oruwella road). We kept wondering if there was a 5-star hotel at the end of the road, and to our relief, there indeed was one (and a very good one at that!). But it would be much nicer if those last 5-6 km are better paved. All in all though, one of the best hotels during my week long trip to Sri Lanka.
• Troy (2/5): Nearly Terrible - I can’t believe the number of problems we had with this hotel. We’ve travelled to 77 countries and this stay was one of the top disappointing hotel experiences we’ve had given the expectations of a five star hotel. If rated as a three star it would be been a disappointment but not intolerable such as it was.
