Guest Reviews
- cbrews.craig (9/5): - it was quiet when i visited in April. It is far emough from town to get a little excercise walking
- ricardo (6/5): -
- Hans (8/5): Goede locatie - Centrale ligging. Ruime kamer. Vriendelijk personeel. Kluisje beschikbaar. Heerlijke douche met krachtige straal. Mooie tuin. De WC stonk. Bijna geen water uit kraan bij wastafel. Geen stoelen op de kamer. Weinig ligbedden bij zwembad.
- John (5/5): It was OK but I wouldn't stay there again due to smell in bathroom. - Breakfast was the same each and everyday. The toast was hard and felt like it was made days ago. Cold toast; smelly bathroom!
- Alberto (6/5): -
- António (5/5): Good price and location but not great experience - Great location; staff is very friendly and nice; garden and pool are very relaxing in the middle of the city; Room smelled a lot like paint; no hot water in the shower; the door was very hard to lock/unlock.
- David (8/5): We loved this place ! We would stay again and hope to come back - We loved the location, decor , ambience and friendly staff ! It was quiet at night . Staff were helpful in arranging a private tour of Uxmal and Kabah for us . Much more quiet at night as not too close to main plaza but very walkable (less than 10 minutes to Cathedral ) Wifi in room was strong This is not a 5 star hotel but we knew that and wouldn’t stay at one anyway . Breakfast was a little lacking … fruit cut the night before ? Very dry , rock hard bread . Coffee was good !
No English speaking staff after the first day but hey , we are in Mexico
That’s it
- Anneke (9/5): Comfortabel en dichtbij oude centrum. - Locatie en inrichting. Fijne bedden. Matig ontbijt, droge toast.
- alex (4/5): - Nothing
- Robin (8/5): Tranquil place centrally located near live music venues, good restaurants, and local landmarks - Historical building. Attractive. Quiet. Nothing
- Antonio (9/5): Very nice boutique hotel with pool in the center of Merida - Location was excellent, close to center sights, shops and restaurants. Wonderful Jazz bar at the corner. Amazing pool to enjoy after a day's sightseeing. There was a problem with the water supply, which took several hours to be fixed.
- Jose (8/5): Buena ubicación - Cómodo Hotel y buena ubicación
- Marco (5/5): - Location molto suggestiva Personale e pulizia
- Pax (8/5): -
- Oscar (8/5): - Lugar tranquilo
- Tegan (10/5): Luxurious, peaceful, in the perfect location - Private and quite and in the heart of the city. Easy walking distance to many fun restaurants, cafes, bars, and small designer shopping areas. The tourist places are within 10min walking distance. The Va y Ven bus transit system throughout Merida and the bus to Progresso Beach is right outside the front door. Very accessible location as well as clean accommodations with new towels and fresh linens. I look forward to returning. I had to keep buying plastic bottles of water. I would rather have the option for 20L water delivery (refills) happy to pay for refills if it was an option. I stayed a week.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lesley (8/5): Very good - The fresh fruit in the morning with breakfast was tasty. Don't appreciate tourist trap recommendations.
- Marcel (9/5): Simpathetic hotel in the heart of Merida. - A nice classical looking hotel, it’s a bit older which gives it a natural charm.
Good restaurants around the corner,
- Rosirod (9/5): Superb - Nice, basic room. Gracious, helpful staff.
- Candace (9/5): Relaxing!! - The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Thank you to Brenda, Claudia, Ana, Melissa and Britney. You all were amazing and very helpful!
- Lynda (1/5): Terrible accomodations and stake toast for breakfast. In the middle of nowhere. - Nothing. We left early next morning. Steep twisty stairs, gravel covered to room. Big gapping area to descend..had to reach for railing to keep from falling. Room billed as king suite was double bed. No way to hang clothes. So bad we didn't unpack. Too late to change hotels at night. Not good area near anything except construction.
- Estela (7/5): Good -
- Philip (1/5): Disappointed - Clean , comfortable & really pleasant staff. Nice breakfast. I paid for a superior room which was supposed to have a bath & a balcony but was given an inferior room without either. How can I pay for something which gives a certain description of a room and yet be given something else without any kind of an apology or any refund. Absolutely terrible.
- Ronald (9/5): Art 64 is a delightful and unique oasis from the heat and bustle of the city. - It is a converted hacienda with the original doors and shutters still in place. There is 24 hour reception and security is tight. The rooms are all different. Ours was very spacious. The king size bed was very comfortable. Hot water took a little time to arrive but was plentiful. The outdoor pool was excellent and provided a welcome relief from the afternoon heat. The breakfasts were beautifully presented. The room would have been improved with the addition of a comfortable chair, a desk and a small fridge. There was plenty of space to add all these. Only some rooms have a safe. A couple of hand towels in addition to the bath towels would be good.
- Meeli (10/5): Amazing place for relaxing - The place looks like on the pictures. It was beautiful, clean and calm. Service was great and everyone was very friendly. There are common areas with a kitchen and sofas. Location is great, not too much in the middle of the tourist hot-spots, but very central anyway. We really loved it and highly recommend staying here if you want to have a relaxing holiday! Breakfast was simple but nice, they offer parking and you can get beach towels for a deposit. The pool is also really nice, which we appreciated a lot after a hot day of sightseeing.
The only downside for us was that the rooms don't actually have glass windows, but mosquito nets and wooden shutters, which means it is not very sound proof. It was not loud in general, but it had a lack of privacy.
- Aleksandar (8/5): Very good - The interior design is amazing and the pool area is an enchantingl escape from the heat in the city. The pool itself is clean and sufficiiently large.. Location is good, close to both the historical centre and to the calle 47/paseo Montejo zone. Rooms, although charmingly designed, are ill-equipped and basic, with the squeeking doors, loud old aircons and curtains on the shower cabins. The staff is smiley but somehow reserved, there is really no feel of being truly welcome. Breakfast is less than basic. Parking is relatively far, one has to pay extra for it, and there is always a question will it be open or not. In the latter case, you have to call or go to hotel, and wait until someone comes to open it for you. Despite the interventiom, we didn't get the facial towels until the very last day. We went to reception to ask for it and got a dirty one.
- Jill (7/5): Good -
- Amelia (10/5): Beautiful and authentic -
- David (10/5): Great historic hotel - Great location. It's central and a short walk from the Grand Plaza, but just far enough removed to be a little quieter. The courtyard was lovely and the pool was a great way to cool off in the hot Mérida afternoons. We also appreciated the included breakfast, and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The air conditioner in our room was a little fussy, the remote didn't always seem to work properly. It was fine once we got it going, but it was a bit annoying.
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- DALE (10/5): - Quiet area about 10 minute walk to the Plaza Grande. Room with balcony overlooking the beautiful pool area and garden. Continental breakfast was perfect, fruit, toast, coffee and eggs if desired. Served by the staff.
- Dirk (7/5): Central and quiet - We actually overlooked the hotel from the outside. An inconspicuous glass door leads to reception and then into the elongated courtyard with pool. The hotel is centrally located in Merida and many things are within walking distance. The room was clean, as was the bathroom. The included breakfast is typical for Mexico and the staff do not speak English outside reception. Our room was on the second floor with a large balcony that probably hadn't been cleaned for days (or more)
- Liliane (9/5): A little oasis in the center of Merida - Very quiet oasis in the middle of the city close to all attractions and restaurants. The landscaping is beautiful and so is the pool. The rooms are large and private. We had access to a living area and kitchen within our building. Secure parking available around the corner. 100 pesos per day paid at hotel. Would definitely come back. The toasted bread served at breakfast was cold and hard. Otherwise nothing else.
- Lyda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Luna (9/5): Superb - Comfortable bed and pillows, good location, nice staff. Really poor breakfast
- Sander (8/5): Great stay, would recommend - Large room
Nice staff
Good location
Nice pool but limited beds Rooms are very moist
Door to balcony could not be locked
- James (10/5): - Great location close to the city center. Very walkable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't use the pool, but it was nice. They have a complimentary continental breakfast that was good. The king-Bed Room was very large and the bathroom had a double vanity and good water pressure. A/C worked great. It was a great place at a very good value.
- John (6/5): - The Mosquito’s were ridiculous, the locking of the front doors were very inconvenient, the Maid service was inconsistent, always forgetting something. Their other Property Art 54 much better, was very disappointed in my stay here , would not stay at this property again.
- Igor (9/5): Merida central station - It is a nice hotel in the heart of Merida with agreed local parking possibility. Breakfast was decent but rather light. Beds are too soft for me and probably the majority as well. They can't do anything against small mosquitos that are quite anoying in the evening by the pool.
- Anna-marie (3/5): Worst food poisoning, beautiful building! - The location was good and the aesthetic of the building was very beautiful. We had the worst food poisoning of our lives from the breakfast. It was the only meal I had the same as my husbands. When it came out, the fruit looked a bit sad and there were many many flies hovering but we ate a bit anyway as everything we had eaten so far in Mexico had been super fresh. Around 8 hours later we were both violently sick and other such horrible symptoms associated with food poisoning. Longest night ever :(
Before coming I had also dismissed other reviews where people had commented about the mosquitos around the pool. I have honestly never been eaten alive so much as here even with insect repellent on. Maybe the property could put some citronella sticks or something? It makes the beautiful pool area almost unusable :(
- Dominique (9/5): Superb -
- Saskia (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect! Beautifully located in el Centro. Great customer service. Breakfast could be improved by higher quality bread.
- MINERVA (8/5): - Great bed and pillows.
Very spacious room.
A few blocks from Santiago and from Santa Lucia.
- Daniela (6/5): Ok, but not too spectacular - I liked the ambiente of a typical Hacienda, not like a hotel from a big change, something different for the weekend.
The location was very comfortable: 10 minutes walk to the centre and 20 minutes from the airport of Merida. Room was clean and the air condition was life saving given that we had 39 degrees. I didn‘t like that, although being a hotel in Hacienda Style, the doors were never completely closed, there was always a space between the floor and the wooden door. Therefore, it was very loud - on Saturday there was a party in the neighborhood and I heard the music as if the band was playing next to my door.
There was no shower gel, only soap (conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, etc, but no gel).
Breakfast was rather poor - 2 hard toasts, almost melted butter, jam, and yogurt with fruits, coffee for everyone (no buffet to choose - they put the whole package on the table).
When we asked at our arrival if we could get breakfast or at least some fruits early in the morning (before breakfast hours) to take away for a touristic trip, we were told that this was not possible. With the nightshift-receptionist we negotiated to get some bananas. In the morning, there was yet another receptionist that got us the bananas and said „we could have prepared you a lunch bag as well“. I consider myself as a fairly good Spanish-speaker, so it can‘t have been a communication problem the day before.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great property - Very cute comfortable hotel in an easily accessible area. There are a couple of communal kitchens. My only complaint is that someone took my beverages that I purchased and stored in one of the refrigerators. I would have liked a mini fridge and a ceiling fan in the room.
- Chris (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful hotel close to the centre. - Beautiful boutique hotel . The room was huge , quiet and clean. It’s located within 5-10 minutes of many good restaurants, craft beer places and other bars. The centre is about 10 minutes away from the hotel. It would be nice to have some choice at breakfast.
- Patcharawee (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lynn (8/5): - Very friendly and helpful
- Maxi (10/5): Beautiful oasis to rest after discovering busy Merida - We loved our stay at the Art64. The garden was beautiful. Our view from the rooms was great and it was offside from loud music and street noises. The bed was very comfortable. A lot of mosquito in the garden, could be better controlled. The open shower was flooding the bathroom. It was a pitty that the bacons had only one chair and no sun beds or at least a second chair.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location and great service - no complaints - I really liked staying here. The front desk is open 24 hours so you don't have to be worried about getting locked out. The staff were very kind and helpful; absolutely no complaints there. The room was a dream for me! A little bit more open to the elements than your average hotel room which I love. The location was superb as well, located in the Santa Ana neighborhood. There was a lot of stuff around the hotel itself, but it's also equidistant from the main plaza, Parque Santa Ana which I came to love, and the Paseo de Montejo. The location was perfect. I recommend the restaurant Dzalbay basically across the street - they have live music on weekdays, good food, and an excellent bartender.
They provide little hotel bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and also bars of soap. I liked that the soap was wrapped in a paper-like substance rather than plastic. They have a system for if you want new towels so you can help cut down on water usage if you want. The hot water worked fine as well as the AC in my room. They also provide you with 2 bottles of water.
In my room there were two doors that opened French-style to the outside (like a small balcony but not big enough to sit out there I don't think) which I loved. There are mosquito nets on the windows so you also can just open the windows for a breeze.
Breakfast is out by the pool in the mornings and is yogurt, a little granola, fruit, toasted white bread, butter/jam, juice, and coffee.
- RoshHD (10/5): Quaint Oasis in Mérida - We have been at the hotel for 6 nights so far and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are cool and comfortable. The inner court yard is a refuge from the hot and humid street. The pool is wonderful to revive our feet after walking around the city. The gardens are beautifully maintained and the staff are helpful. The breakfast includes fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, juice, coffee and toast. Just the right fuel for the day in my opinion. This is a gem!!
- silvernotes (10/5): Stop looking and stay at this beautiful hotel in central Merida - Have you ever wanted to stay at a place that was actually as beautiful as the online photos? Then stay here and you’ll have a lovely time. The moment we stepped through the door and into the spacious courtyard, it felt heavenly. Everything is so clean, relaxing, peaceful, and quiet. And because there are only 9 units (that’s your cue to book your room soon), it never feels crowded.
The location is absolutely outstanding, a 10 minute walk to Plaza Grande (where the big cathedral is), a 10 minute walk the other way to the start of Paseo de Montejo, close to restaurants/bars, and close to plazas like Santa Ana, Santa Lucia, and Santiago.
We stayed here for a wonderful week. Every morning we enjoyed complimentary breakfast served to us at our own table by the pool – fruit, toast, juice, coffee, tea, yogurt with granola (eggs are available too) – while we were serenaded with birdsong. The staff was very friendly and most spoke some English, but they’re happy to practice Spanish with you too. Juan, Corina, Andre are a few of the names I remember, but everyone was nice. They will help you schedule day tours with a company called Edith’s Tours if you like – we took 2 tours with this company and were pleased with the service. Security is great, and they have 24/7 front desk service for your convenience. Someone is always available if you have questions or want restaurant recommendations. Minimal kitchen supplies (like a microwave, etc.) are available but we didn’t use them – there are too many great restaurants in the area.
Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean and located on the second floor (I think most if not all of the rooms are upstairs, no elevator). We received daily maid service with fresh towels. The cable TV was huge, the air conditioning was wonderful, the Wi-Fi worked great, and the water was hot. The king size bed was comfortable. Now there were some small cracks around the window and door, and a couple of mosquitoes came in, but it was not a major issue.
A few random observations: The swimming pool was chilly in the first week of February. This is an adults-only boutique hotel. The hotel will supply you with two 500-ml bottles of water per day (remember, don’t drink the tap water in Merida). The candy dish in the lobby was a nice touch.
You will love Merida, and you will love staying at Art 64. I wish we were there right now.
- Derek (10/5): Warm and relaxing - Big rooms with massive smart TVs. 2 sinks in the bathrooms with bath robes. Rooms are very unique with old, wooden style doors. Beautiful pool area with pool beds where you'll have breakfast.
- Pierre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ying (4/5): Uncomfortable - Sheet has stains, insects fly inside room , shower head water is too slow, need to renovate all rooms and improve breakfast quality
- Claire (9/5): Superb - Beautiful hotel with a really lovely room. There was a walk in wardrobe area where there was room to store our cases as well as hang clothes. The location was great too. There was a lovely pool but no sun loungers. It would have been nice if there were a couple available for a chill out couple of hours by the pool.
- Dave (8/5): I WOULD STAY AGAIN, MOSTLY BECAUSE OF THE STAFF AND LOCATION. - Breakfast was good , but it is the same every day. FOR SURE THEY NEED LUGGAGE STANDS FOR YOU SUITCASES, PUTTING THEM ON THE FLOOR WAS MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH THE ROOM.
- Sarah (8/5): Great value for money hotel, perfect for a few nights to explore Merida - Huge bed, very comfortable. The room is also big. Air conditioning. Good location, short walk to everything in the historic centre. Lovely setting in the courtyard/pool area. Staff were nice and helpful. Shower was quite weak, to the point it was hard to get shampoo out of you hair.
Breakfast wasn’t great and even paying the extra to add eggs didn’t help.
- Marios (9/5): Superb - Beautiful hotel and very modern. There is parking space with a small fee (5 usd per day) just around the block. They offer free breakfast ( fruits, yogurt and some bread with honey and marmelade) by the pool and more options with a low price (3 usd)
They have common fridge and kitchen. The doors in the room are heavy, old looking with metallic bars as handlers, which gave the room a nice vibe but they were noisy.
- Laurie (8/5): Very good -
- Austin (8/5): Very good - Everything was very pleasant. It would have been preferable to understand exactly what was included in the "breakfast included" portion of our stay. We really had no idea that eggs were not, and to our surprise, we were presented a bill at the end of our stay.
- Sims (7/5): Had a lovely stay here, the hotel staff were friendly & helpful. - Good location, friendly & helpful staff It’s a bit run-down
- Sara (8/5): Cute Hotel - This was a great little hotel, tucked away from the busier touristy area so that you weren’t constantly hearing cars/people all day, But still an easy walk into the main part of Merida. On the weekends there appears to be a bar very close by where you can hear the music and the people screaming from inside your room.
The beds were comfortable, the TVs are comically large in the rooms, and the showers have good water pressure.
The site says they have airport transportation, but they don’t: They will call you a taxi but you still have to pay for it. I just used Uber, It was about $8.
- Floortje (9/5): Perfect stay in the city centre of Merida - Nicely decorated place with spacious rooms and very good value for money! Also friendly staff, private parking (small fee per day), walking distance from the city’s highlights. Breakfast was quite basic, but any additional request was possible
- Catherine (10/5): - Beautiful Hotel, beautiful aesthetic. Wonderful friendly and helpful staff throughout the whole stay. Relaxing environment, loved staying here.Recommend it for a peaceful oasis
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lidia (10/5): - Good
- Emmanuel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvan (10/5): - Perfect quirky small hotel near city center. 10 rooms tops, which pair up to make 5 villas that can be “private” if you book 2 rooms, including a lounge and a kitchen with fridge, electric hob and utensils.
Beds are excellent! Some wooden doors are warped and tricky to shut, you might need a night mask if you need full darkness to sleep. The swimming pool and indoor patio and garden is the highlight of the property, super quiet, the perfect place to chill and cool down from the heat of Mérida. Staff are super friendly and available, don’t hesitate to ask for refills of your water bottle if you want to avoid using disposable plastic. Reception 24h but might need a couple of doorbell rings or a phonecall! Highly recommend and planning to visit a third time soon.
- Michal (8/5): Very good -
- Krystyna (4/5): Disappointing -
- Shannon (10/5): - Staff was amazing. Pool was great and rooms comfortable!
- Tamas (10/5): Vibrant colors, friendly staff and amazing rooms - Vibrant colors, friendly staff and amazing rooms. It was a very pleasant stay, for sure we will be back.
We loved how great size the rooms are, so clean, gets light but you can also enjoy the complete darkness. Wasn’t hot or cold, just perfect. loved the details, the materials.
perfect from location wise, still walkable to the bus terminal, or to the city center. plenty of great coffee places around. we haven’t used Uber or Taxi while staying here. there is absolutely nothing negative to say
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional -
- 226loria (6/5): Nice hotel with drawbacks - I want to share some important points about staying at this hotel. It is a nice hotel in a good location but…1) bed sheets are poor quality and sleep very warm, 2) the outside chairs by the pool and breakfast tables are very uncomfortable and not good for anyone with back issues, 3) if you have any concerns about falling, the shower in our (first) room had three steps up and were very slippery, 4) our room was not serviced until 3:00-3:30pm each day (6 days), 5) outside cushions had tiny ants.
- Susan (5/5): Passable -
- Lori (6/5): - Nice small hotel but missing some comforts.
- Bejan (9/5): Superb -
- Camille (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (6/5): Pleasant - Wonderful, friendly staff and great location. Easy to walk to most attractions with lots of good restaurants, cantinas and shops in walking distance. The actual facility was less charming than anticipated but satisfactory.
- Ellen (9/5): The highlight of the hotel was the staff. - The staff was absolutely wonderful. They were kind, accommodating, and very helpful. The location was fun, the little Cantina down the street was lots of entertainment and lightly. Close to shopping and a bit of a walk to the squares but it was not a bad location.
