- Amy (8/5): Perfect for what we needed. - Lovely old timely look and feel. Very warm and inviting. Great value for money. If being picky these are things I noticed.

Could use some fresh bottles of wash
Needs New mugs

- Roger (7/5): - Lovely location in beautiful Old Tulbach. A tasty breakfast was served in the beautiful heritage dining room. We enjoyed our stay. Aircon made strange loud noises and the creaking bathroom door needs attention. Single bed was comfortable but very creaky when turning .
Other than these few things we had an enjoyable stay.
- Odette (6/5): - We loved the setting and staying in a little bit of history. Proximity to all amenities. The bathroom needed a bit of tlc and a spring clean. Also no tv.
- Mike (9/5): Comfortable room in the Cape Dutch Quarters of Tulbach. - Fairly large comfortable room with seperate kitchen and bathroom in the upstairs quarters of the Cape Dutch Quarters of Tulbach, a quaint little town. Restuarant within easy walking distance. Stairs, so many stairs.
Parking for our car was in the street. It seemed safe enough. Had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs.
If you wanted breakfast, it cost R150pp extra.
- Ashlea (7/5): Lovely and quaint! - Lovely spot in Tulbagh, very central to amenities. Staff were very friendly. There was never hot water.

- Leroy (2/5): - We got back from an event at 3am to a each room having a swarm of bees. We called the host and got a new smaller room without being compensated for the downgrade.

- Michelle (4/5): Thankfully only 1 night - Location Property is tired. Mildew in the bathroom. Dust everywhere, tea and coffee canisters were empty, no sugar. Dust on the crockery. Not very welcoming
- Theo (9/5): Great to experience the historic location - Location was great, even got upgraded to the main villa. Historic home and located in the historic street.

- van Zyl (1/5): Will not stay or book there again. We chose not to stay and requested a cancellation. - The street view.Nothing We were moved to a renovated garage. Because we requested secure parking
Not up to standard.
- Terisa (3/5): Disappointed - Good Location. Bed was comfortable. Receptionist was kind enough to wait for me to check in a few minutes after I was supposed too as there was a delay getting into town. Was given a different room to the one I booked, an apparent "upgrade" but was far from it. Got charged full price for a room I didn't want. Seemed like the owner was accommodating their own guests. On street parking, felt unsafe as a solo female traveller. Street kids knew who I was and which car I drove and hassled me the entire weekend. Bathroom is grungy and dirty, mouldy walls, make shift shower right next to the toilet. Regret booking here. Wouldn't stay again or recommend. No cleaning the entire weekend, apparently there was supposed to be a sign to indicate the cleaning but couldn't find one.

- Carl (8/5): Charming Victorian loft in Tulbach's historical street - We enjoyed our two-night stay in the charming loft apartment of the Victorian. The accommodation is spacious and well located in the most beautiful and historical street in Tulbach. We loved our strolls in the street admiring all the buildings. The accommodation is within walking distance to all historical sites and restaurants. We appreciated the comfortable bed and hot shower.
The fact that it's pet friendly is a bonus. The accommodation is recommended. The WiFi was not working all the time, but it could be because the hotel was fully booked.
The leakage in the bathroom was reported to management.
- Cherbonne (5/5): Perfect location, wonderful collection of properties. Needs a deep clean. - You can’t beat the location of this place, and the lovely art and historical items and decor!
We have stayed in the large Victorian House, the house with the pool on Church Street, and the Loft a few times.
The pool in the courtyard of the main house is beautiful! ( see pic from Dec / Jan ) Every time we visit, we find the place needs a good scrub. We come back due to location and price.
After loads of cobwebs & dirty kitchen in Feb 2025, and even worse in August 2025 - we won’t be back. The place is really not clean, and I can’t use these showers again. The feedback has been given many times before.
- Prof Wynand JvdM (8/5): - Central location, well equipped unit
- Kirsten (8/5): Excellent location for Christmas in Winter - Our rooms were great, bigger than expected and extremely comfortable. The location on Church Street was excellent and the alley between Church and Main was very convenient.
We loved the view from the top of the stairs of the Tractors on Friday night of the Christmas in Winter weekend. We also loved being in the middle of the action with easy access to the Christmas market and food stalls all weekend. The stairs were quite steep but manageable. The market stalls were blocking the entrance to the path to the family room, they were very polite and made way, but it wasn't very convenient.
- Michael (7/5): A Great Base of Operations for Your Next Stay in Tulbagh - This accommodation is located on historic, quiet, and tree-lined Kerk/Church St, one block to the west of Tulbagh's busy main drag Van Der Stel St., but is just a conveniently short walk to the town's main shopping, restaurants, and stores. Most all the surrounding buildings on little-traveled Church St. are restored Cape Dutch colonials, many thatched. The accommodation itself is very spacious, and retains much of its original architectural design and charm, with high ceilings, old-fashioned brass-toggle light switches, and a windowpane view of the street. Staying in town gives one flexibility to visit the many wine estates nearby. The only real negative is that the accommodation is up a couple of short flights of very steep stairs, so would not be suitable for mobility-impared people.
- Marilise (9/5): Superb -
- Miranda (8/5): Was great to be in the centre of town. - Great location, beautiful old house and clean. Great service for checking in and cleaning room, even on our short stay.
- Valencia (8/5): 5 night stay. - Great location.
Lovely braai area Nothing hugely significant.
- Warda (5/5): Okay stay - Location, aircon, antique furnishings Mattress and bedding, shower was not pleasant due to showerhead
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was incredible
- Tando (7/5): Good -
- Wessels (9/5): Superb -
- Van (7/5): Good -
- Daryl (10/5): Comfortable, spans of space and in a quaint quite area - Staff very friendly and helpful, beautiful setting and thank goodness for the pool as was 32 degrees when I arrived No dislikes
- Diccon (8/5): Very good -
- Antonia (10/5): Exceptional - The location was superb and the place was breathtakingly beautiful. Like staying in a museum
Absolutely wonderful Nothing
- Tessa (9/5): Beautiful eclectic comfortable central - If in Tulbagh you must stay on Church Street so location was perfect. You’re in the hub of all the history & restaurants. Jayson gave us fantastic suggestions of what to do & where to go. Waterfall hike is a MUST!
The house itself is a gorgeous eclectic mix of everything & you have to love it. Mozzi nets on beds were very welcome as Tulbagh has plenty mosquitoes. We had hot days so the pool was a bonus & there’s a Braai area too.
The house opposite has an amazing roof you can go onto for gorgeous sunset views.
We really loved our stay. My bed was SO comfy. And just wish we had had longer. There is a lot on offer in & around Tulbagh A few minor things missing from kitchen. Nothing that detracted from our lovely stay
- Margareta (8/5): Very good -
- Pia (9/5): Sweet, quirky heritage house. Loved the nature around us. - Very sweet house, loved the kitchen area. We received organic vegetables from the hosts which was very lovely.
- Martha (6/5): Pleasant - We had a very short stay, overnight, after attending a wedding. A very comfortable sleep. However, we experienced some difficulty identifying which one of the two lofts of the Victorian house was allocated to us. Having a sign on the staircase or door would help clear that up.
- Suzelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Good value. - Stunning if you like old stuff. Bit neglected, for instance totally loose tap, but still value for money. No signage and did not know where to go upon arrival.
- Geoffrey (7/5): Good -
- Rian (8/5): Brought you back to the 17 th century living in the old Cape province. - Historic old Dutch homes All good
- Trevor (10/5): Exceptional -
- Herma (9/5): Superb - Our private pool! We spent most of our time at the pool and lapa.
The beautifully decorated house, the kitchen glass wall and the garden were our favourite features.
We lóved our stay. Nothing.
(Maybe just add a hook on the door or wall for the 3rd bedroom )
- Barteldt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sulet (9/5): A journey back in time in a beautiful quiet town in the Cape. - It felt like stepping 100 years back in time. Like staying in a museum. Beautiful. The pool and the sundowner view was amazing.
- Angela (3/5): Rundown Guesthouse - The photos and price made it look and seem in much better nick than it was. It needs a revamp, it felt a bit dirty spider webs, dust on the mosquito net, and not maintained. Manage expectations in the description possibly.
- Willem (8/5): Very good - Location comfortable room. Store room light could not been switched off very irritating during the night.
- Luci (8/5): Very warm welcome from our host Jason who is a great marketer for the town of Tulbagh, making endless suggestions of pla - Gorgeous loft on a street full of beautiful old buildings, lots of special decor touches. On our visit unfortunately the air-con was not working properly
- Johan (9/5): Superb - It is a unique and quaint historical property with many interesting knick knacks and pieces of period furniture.
Everything for self catering was available and worked well.
The position in the middle of the historical area was perfect. The aircons did not work efficiently enough.
- Jessica (8/5): Comfortable and clean stay - Lovely accommodation in the center of Tulbagh. Our room was clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff It would be nice if the room had its own kettle in order to make coffee in the morning.
- Sharief (10/5): Our Stay at the Victorian of Church Street - The host is a phenomenal person who is an expert on Tulbach and its architecture. We were immediately made to feel welcome, upon arrival, and met some wonderful people at the beautiful pool and braai area. Super friendly staff and an engaging host make the Victorian of Church Street a must!
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb - Beautiful heritage home, well worth a visit. Awesome hosts
- M (3/5): Poor - Not much. Disliked · We were informed that the room had a new Aircon fitted which uses a lot of electricity and that most people don't sleep with the Aircon on at night which we found strange as that is what provides a peaceful sleep on scorching nights like this one. We had the aircon on and somewhere around midnight the electricity was turned off, thus no aircon, lights and the freezer defrosted over the floors and couldnt charge our phones. The electricity was switched on again early that morning. The place in general needs some tlc, at least our room did. Kitchen cupboards don't close properly as the hinges are rusted and no loger properly screwed to the falling apart wood which is not difficult to fix. Shower a bit grungy . Front door doesn't lock unless you lift it up with a little force. No tv. Fridge door old and broken on the inside.. Was not informed at all that the tag on our key gave us access to the other pool area accross the road. Only reason this came to light is that we had asked one of the caretakers on departure about another pool which we were not allowed to use as it was designated to other rooms. We could see this pool from our shower window which had no curtains in direct view. He then directed us across the road to another pool and courtyard that we couldve used but had no idea. No tour was given on arrival. We had booked on short notice. Most places were fully booked. We were not looking for anything fancy. I mentioned to the owner Jayson that the court yard and pool area (that we only learned of on checkout) looked nice. Perhaps the stay might have been more pleasant had we stayed that side and had the opportunity to use this quaint pool area.
- Karen (9/5): Great historic town - lovely for a short stay. - The location was superb in a beautiful setting. The house is in the historic street with museums all around. Th friendly owner stocked the fridge with fresh organic vegetables.
- Debbie (8/5): Lovely experience - Comfortable space, great location and lovely pool
- Beth (8/5): Very good -
- Karsten (10/5): Friendly and helpful staff, great location and beautiful building. - Beautiful Cape Dutch period property.
- Florence (10/5): I was wowed, the decor is perfect, and such a pretty town - Stunningly beautiful, calm, spacious Steep stairs, bad for my knees, no water in the fridge
- Adriana (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent accommodation and location to restaurants Nothing we didn't like
- Jason (9/5): Stunning spacious accomodation. - The apartment is spacious and very comfortable. The reception staff and other staff that we encountered over the weekend were friendly and helpful. The accomodation has everything that you need to make your stay enjoyable. If you are a group of 4 travelling together The Loft offers exceptional space and privacy as it consists of two spacious seperate rooms. I highly reccommend the property.
- Sandy (10/5): Exceptional - The location, historical
- Larsen (8/5): Amazing location, beautiful decor and magical garden - The house was sensational - the back greenhouse kitchen area is like stepping into another world! Looking out through the windows into the lush garden is like you have found your own little piece of paradise!
