Super easy from Islay airport. Close proximity however I never noticed any airport or road noise. Most relaxing stay I have had in a long time. Emma and Graeme are perfect hosts!

I doubt we would have been taken care of half as well at a more corporate property that would have charged twice as much. While location is a bit remote (in the best possible way), the setting is beautifully tranquil, transportation to towns and other local attractions is easily arranged. Such a special place!

The culinary delights at Glengedale House were a highlight of our stay. Each meal was prepared to perfection using fresh, local ingredients, truly capturing the essence of Islay's rich flavors. The whisky porridge was a breakfast revelation—smooth, creamy, and with just the right hint of the island's famed whisky. Our seafood buffet for two, sourced straight from the sea that very morning, was an unforgettable feast of the ocean's finest, showcasing the freshest catch and culinary mastery. Every detail at Glengedale House was impeccable, making our stay as comfortable as it was delightful. The charm of this bed and breakfast, coupled with the warm, attentive care from Emma and Graham, made our visit truly special. Our only regret is not being able to stay longer. We left with our hearts full and can't wait to return to this slice of paradise.

Their house is beautiful, they take very great care and attention to all their guests and provide amazing food and service. Our seafood platter was enormous and spectacular and the breakfasts are delicious and plentiful including a wonderful porridge (“Graeme’s Porridge”) and locally sourced salmon, sausages, bacon, and organic eggs. We leave very happy to have stayed there ..and carrying an extra few kilos :).

The location of Glenegedale House is perfect, situated centrally on the island, making it an ideal base for exploring all that Islay has to offer. Whether you're interested in visiting the renowned whisky distilleries, hiking through the breathtaking landscapes, or simply relaxing on the beautiful beaches, Glenegedale House is conveniently located to suit all your needs. The accommodations are top-notch, with beautifully appointed rooms that are both comfortable and stylish. I stayed in one of their luxurious en-suite rooms, which was spacious, immaculately clean, and equipped with all the amenities I could possibly need. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep after a day of exploring the island. One of the highlights of my stay at Glenegedale House was the amazing food. Graeme is a fantastic chef who takes pride in using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create culinary delights that showcase the best of Islay's produce. The hearty breakfasts were delicious and left me eagerly anticipating the next meal.

- Oli (10/5): - Sometimes you know about a place when you walk in. There’s a sixth sense that lets you know you’ll be happy, comfortable and relaxed. That’s how it felt during our entire stay. Perfectly positioned to explore and our room was gorgeous and we had a sublime sea view. We had dinner on our first night. It was perhaps one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Great food, cooked well and served in style with warm service. Magical. But even better than dinner was breakfast. Perfect porridge. Dredges of brown sugar. Doused in cream and Laphroaig. Islay smoked salmon and eggs from their own flock. Haggis, black pudding and all the trimmings. Perfectly poached fruit. I’d eat that breakfast every day for the rest of my life and I’d be a very happy (and much rounder) man. If you’re a whisky lover, just bathe in what you’ll find: drams that you won’t see elsewhere, and even if you could you wouldn’t find a better place to enjoy them. But it’s not the things that make a place, it’s the people. Graeme and Emma’s hospitality heritage shone from beginning to end. We genuinely felt like we were at home during our entire stay. If you ever get a chance to visit, you have to stay here. Once wasn’t enough. We’re already thinking about coming back.

Prearrange taxi and transport or car rental before its needed on Islay. Can be difficult or not possible to get a ride/cab when you need it. This is true in the towns themselves too.

A short walk to the airport which is not busy so if you didn’t look to the side and see the airport you would only notice the ocean and sheep grazing. The place is so cute and clean! Our room over looked the water and we got to watch the sunset. They also did an amazing 3 course breakfast for us with homemade muffins and scotch porridge! It was truly a dream to stay there and we hope to go back one day!

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great weekend away - We had a beautiful weekend away at Glenegedale House. Emma and Graeme are so welcoming (and make your stay even better with delicious food along the way!!) The porridge with whisky and cream was definitely a highlight, as was the rest of the spread at breakfast (incredibly generous for such a small B&B). Our hosts provided us with good recommendations for transport, restaurants and other activities, even offering to book anything that we needed on our behalf. Despite not being located in a town, the hotel is actually very well positioned between both Bowmore and Port Ellen, which are both about a ten minute drive away. We arrived by ferry, but if you were to fly to Islay, the B&B is directly across the road from the small local airport. There is also a bus stop at your front door which takes you to the southern distilleries. All in all, a lovely stay.

The property was clean, the host was welcoming, and the breakfast was superb with a variety of fresh fruits and muffins to go with your main dish. (Definitely say yes to the porridge!!) Be aware, the property is not near any shops or... anything at all, really. It’s a proper country house surrounded by beautiful nature (and right in front of a bus stop) so if you want to eat out or get groceries you’ll have to plan for it as the closest store is 4-5 miles away. All in all a wonderful experience. You’re also situated between Bowmore and Port Ellen, so that’s 4 distilleries checked off the list!

- Jill (10/5): - AMAZING. The Glengedale House far surpassed any expectations we had. We flew from Glasgow and the house is literally across from the tiny airport in Islay (the traffic is very low so you don't hear any noise, not to worry!). The house itself is gorgeous and Emma and Graeme are wonderful hosts. Emma reached out to us a few days in advance before check in to let us know what we would need & tips and such. She also offered a "taste of Scotland" charcuterie platter for dinner & we decided to order it and we were glad of it. It was delicious and in their beautiful dining area with a sunset view of the sheep while we enjoyed our meal. Breakfast was also top notch! There was so much effort put into every part of our stay that we were simply blown away. The rooms are fantastic and the beds and linens were like heaven. Thoughtful amenities en suite, too, like teas and treats. Word to the wise, you will need to plan ahead on Islay, especially without a car. We went to Islay specifically to visit the Jura distillery (which will take you the better part of the day). The buses do run and will take you to the distilleries and downtown; there are only precious few taxis on the island and they need to be booked in advance. Emma was very helpful in pointing this out and in getting us where we needed to be. We had a lovely time!

Emma was so helpful before we arrived even sending me a heads up about our ferry, as well as once we were there, lending us map, booking distillery tour helping with tickets. She could not have done more. And then there was breakfast by Graeme and Emma. A sideboard with over 14 different fresh fruit and 6 kinds of homemade poached fruit, yogurt, cereal and porridge and hot breakfast of choice. The full Scottish was perfect as was the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. This was the best experience in a guest house ever in over 50 years of travel

Everything was perfect; plenty of hot water and lovely toiletries; a comfy bed with beautiful soft yet crisp sheets and scrumptious breakfasts with very special porridge. A wonderfully warm welcome promised a wonderful stay and we certainly were not disappointed. We would highly recommend Glenegedale House.
- Susan (10/5): Fantastic breakfasts! - Although the property is directly across the main road from the airport (it is a small airport with only a few flights in/out p/day), it is conveniently located a few miles outside of Port Ellen and close drive to other towns on the island. The island itself is beautiful and our stay at Glenegedale House was also a delight! The owners made us feel at home with fantastic breakfasts, and well appointed rooms with linens and robes with a wonderful scent to help relax after a full day of sightseeing. Thanks again, Graeme and Emma, for helping to make our 30th wedding anniversary trip one we will never forget!
