- Judiza (3/5): It's bad. Not coming back again. - It is near SM and city central. It is also near 7/11 if you want to get some food easily. It was very noisy in the lobby and hallways you could hear people passing around even at midnight. The bed is situated near the door. Water runs very dirty in the morning, you need to keep on draining it till water becomes clean (water in the bathroom) Cockroaches are also present in the CR. Linens are dirty, YES they just cover it with new thin bedsheets. No signal at the area for globe users, wifi is slow and can only be accessed in the lobby. TV has poor signal, poor audio. Maybe the rooms far from the elevator and lobby are not prone to noises so you can try that one. No parking space. Parking is in the highway. The stay is very poor all in all.
- Ma (1/5): Bad -
- Norlene (9/5): Superb - Very accommodating...
There was some problem with the reservation but they managed it professionally. Kudos to the staff.. they were very respectful. My family was able to sieze the moment. Nothing.
- Anonymous (8/5): Giving a Review of Check Inn Bacolod - The place is best situated near establishments that i need like malls, atm machines, and convenient stores. Generally the staff are accomodating and friendly. Their facilities although lacking in food services and a room wifi was fair enough to meet our needs during our stay. Their rooms are spacious and clean. Their facilities needs to be improved for guests convenience like adding a food service that can cater to guests that wants to just stay in their rooms and rest. Also the wifi is only at the lobby and needs also to be improved by adding a wifi at the rooms...
- Marilyn (1/5): Bad -
- DavidE4993 (2/5): Do you like Cockroaches - Dirty, full of cockroaches, every thing toilet, shower and sink. Toilet doesn't flush disgusting rooms, towels are a joke.
Wifi intermittant, only spent a night as I was tired from my trip,,, big mistake.
- ocram_leiuqra (6/5): budget friendly, spacious rooms - stayed here for couple of days, very spacious rooms , very nice staff, they offer room service, wifi is only available in the lobby of each floor, since rooms are spacious, ac cannot make the room very cold,
- N6930QYpaulr (2/5): Have stayed in more attractive prison cells. - As soon as you walk through the door your heart sinks. Peeling paint on plan walls, dirty bathroom and an impossibly load AC all go to make this a place that you can not wait to leave. THE COVER PICTURE IS NOT THE HOTEL AND SHOULD BE REMOVED..
- 120cathyt (8/5): Value for Money - I have stayed in this hotel about 3 times in the past three months. I always get a room in their top floor.
Has an elavator. Once you get to the top there's a space where trees are and grass. Can smoke there. Zen-ish Aura feels like you're not in a the heart of the city.
very close to SM Bacolod and the pier. and other hotels.
I always get the room with two singled beds. charging port in between so you could do things on the phone while charging. CLean bed. No funky smell. TV and air-con. TV has cable, not too many channels though.
Has warm and cold shower. Multiple lights in the room and can be adjusted.
Clean and comfortable. Good for P850. :D Will stay again.
Guests are usually in for conferences - they have a conference room in the second floor (if my memory serves me right) and another one in the top floor. :D
I saw many foreigners with their Filipina wives too. and Family trips! like kids and adults together and coming into several rooms. I could stay in all day and not get bored -- I usually only need to eat and watch tv.
Toilets FLUSH! very important. :)
- LakwatSario (6/5): A thin-wallet solution - Way back in 2013, I stayed in this inn. I was on a tight budget on that trip. And, I found this inn just in the business district of the city. This is a budget inn that will surely become a close friend of your wallet.
The location is totally at your comfort when you have a day or an overnight business in BCD. You can grab a cab easily. The government centers, shopping mall, food corners, and even pubs are in a short distance.
However, this inn is totally good if you are staying for a night or two. That purpose of just having a place to sleep and recharge. You may encounter problems in the room likely slow wireless internet connection, limited television channels, bed comfort, and tiny shower room. A long stay would not be recommended.
When we talk about the people here, just be friendly and a bit jolly for them to catch your attention. It is quiet funny for people in the hospitality industry. But, that is a fact. Be clever, too.
- captmark0 (2/5): Almost got fooled by the photo representing Check Inn - I like Heritage houses. And I thought that Check Inn was one. Having never been to the Gaston house called Bahay Negrense in Silay City.
Got turned off by some of the inputs of fellow travellers. Good thing I did not go.
The photo chosen to represent Check Inn is not the hotel. It's not even located in the same city as the hotel is.
- narianlee (4/5): masskara 2014 - We had an overnight stay during masskara 2014. a few blocks from sm bacolod, plaza and cathedral. several taxis and jeepneys are passing every now and then. the room on third floor was not too big for a three single beds. the tv is not flat screen. we had to use alternately our phone chargers for there was only one available socket/plug.. and we need to unplug the cable to use another socket for charging. we never used there wifi for it was too weak. it is affordable so do not expect much. but what was sad when my friend was using the shower, water supply stopped and it took them several minutes to fix the problem. we had to call them thrice for the said problem. maybe referred to backpackers and travelers who are just staying in the hotel to sleep and rest for few hours.
- 908jenp (2/5): Bad, bad, bad - Worst hotel I'ver ever been to. A friend booked this and we agreed because its affordable. I was with my 5yo son and 6 friends. I booked the Presidential Suite for my son and I. It had roaches, my gosh!!! Yuck! The beddings felt and looked like they haven't been changed for a month. When we went out for lunch, I notified the front desk that I wanted the room cleaned. When we came back late in the evening, it's still the same! Sheesh! We hurriedly checked out the next day. Truly yucky!
- Jrondelle (8/5): Lovely oasis in town center - Check Inn has mixed reviews. We are part of the group that enjoyed stay very much. Be sure to get a room at the 4th floor. When leaving the elevator, it is just a whow! In the middle of this busy town, there is a lovely quiet palm garden, completely unexpected. The rooms up there are spacious, AC is woking fine, Wifi is working fine, the shower is ok.What to expect more for the price?
All in all, Check Inn is a good downtown hotel that caters for the travellers needs. And try to find another palm garden on 4th floor anywhere near!!
- byronw944 (8/5): YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR - I stayed here twice in November 2013, First time 3 days after the Typhoon had hit. I was advised when i asked to check in that they had a lot of guests and the only room they could offer me was a delux double room for P750 per night, realising accomodition was scarce i took the room. On enrty it was found to be clean, the air conditioner worked, the WIFI worked and registered full strength on my phone. The shower was ok and the sheets and towels clean. sure the TV was anologue but at least they had cable TV. more importantly the bed passed and was reasonably comfortable to sleep in. For the equivelent of Australian $19.00 per night it was value, it reminded me of a small country town motel back home basic but clean and on third the price. Only down side no tea or coffee makiong facilities however the cafe in the lobby / enterance does a nice cup of coffee for P18 and a breakfast plate for P99 Bacon egg and rice or fried rice a cup of coffee and a glass of bottled water. Aust $0.50 for a cup of coffee (brewed not instant) and $2.50 for breakfast. I had to leave after two nights, but checked back in again a week later for three more nights. I was offered the same room. If you are expecting the hilton don't bother. However if you want a place to stay with in walking distance of cinemas and a large shopping centre, close proximity to government offices and cheap phone and electronic shops this is the place. As i said you get what you pay for and for any westerner this place is cheap, clean and conveinent.
- leemagic27 (2/5): DON'T STAY HERE!!! - snob staffs.dirty room.cr is terrible.ac no good.beds 2 thumbs down.tv old school.elevetor spooky.money wasted!! no wifi.no goodnight sleep.stinky. SOGO is better than this!!
super bad experience with this hotel!!!
- Erreth (4/5): Inexpensive and nice location, but did not quite satisfy my standards - One thing that I always consider when looking for a place to stay is to look for somewhere near beautiful spots and easy access to ride any type of transportation, and they got a check on my list for that. However, when we arrived there to check in, it's sad to say they already disappointed me. They told us that water wont be available till midnight due to some maintenance repairs. For me, it should have been alright if I was told during the time that I reserved for a room about this, but telling me upon arrival is like telling me that I have no other choice but to accept it. They also have free Wi-Fi, but would keep on disconnecting almost every 5 minutes. Lastly, its the first time that I stayed in a hotel/pension house or anywhere else, that would ask you to pay first before you can come in.
I just hope that they can improve their services, because most of the time, a person can sacrifice the location just to get good service.
- Bossmonkee (6/5): Cheap for a good nights sleep - I have stayed in this pensionne house for a couple of times now, especially when I need to go to bacolod at a moments notice. Dont expect much from this place, when the rates are as low as P550, you dont expect the ritz treatment, my primary purpose was just to get a good nights sleep before I go about my daily activities around the city. one time I got the basic room and which normally was P600 but they gave me a discount and gave it to me for P500 and they were even kind enough to upgrade my room to a superior when they found out that the standard was not available, anyway i noticed that the room was small, nothing fancy, no fridge, no mini bar, a basic no-frills-room but pretty clean and decent (what do you expect, its a pensionne house for christ sake), shower pressure though was not that strong, but good enough for me, all in all for the price I say this place is worth staying again and again
BTW: they've got a simple yet amusing slot machine that is operated by dropping P1 coins, LOL while waiting for them to call a cab, I spent around P10 in that machine and guess what, I won almost P150.00....IN P1 COINS XD
- WanderingEray (6/5): Inexpensive, good location, and free Wi-Fi - We (the entire family and a few other relatives) went to Bacolod a few days ago for 3 days and 2 nights to attend my cousin's wedding and stayed at this pension house. The biggest advantage of this inn is the location. It's within the downtown area and is very close to SM City Bacolod and the San Sebastian Cathedral. Another advantage is the free Wi-Fi access (no password). Contrary to the other reviews here on Tripadvisor stating that their Wi-Fi connection is bad or not working, I would say that the connection is actually quite fast. I had difficulty connecting to their network at first but was able to do so later on. You just have to find a certain spot in your room where the connection is good. I was able to connect in all floors of the inn because we were assigned to multiple rooms in different floors and was always wandering around. :) So if you are looking for a good budget inn with the basic amenities provided, this is a good place to stay, but if you have more to spend, you can always choose a better and more expensive one. TIP: Please bring your own toiletries. They only provided us with bath towels and soaps.
- pusangkalye (6/5): CHEAP but If you have spare cash,go somewhere else - There are so many accommodations in Bacolod City. But during Masskara Festival, finding one could prove to be a big challenge. So if you are planning to fly to the City of Smiles during Masskara,I would suggest you book ahead.I made up my mind two months before the Oct.20 finale but rooms were already full.I called many hotels but to no avail.Good thing two bloggers contacted me and offered that I could stay in their room at CHECK INN.
We stayed in a Business de Luxe Room. Quite spacious for an accommodation with two single beds for only 950 pesos.Extra person is only 100pesos.You pay extra though if you request for additional beddings. So what we did was to join the two single beds together. The three of us were able to fit.As a matter of fact, another friend joined us during the 2nd night.
I have a few complaints though. The towels are old and smelly. At some point,It even felt like using a rag.Damn,I should make it a habit to bring my own towel.Next time. And the pillows are smelly too.Well, you get used to it.And I did. There's hot shower but water pressure is too weak I suggest you shower early if you want a thorough clean. And we were joking about the hallways, one of my roommates remarked that it feels like being in a public hospital, the only thing missing is a nurse going around with her push cart.haha
Other than that, the location is perfect for Masskara as it is situated a few blocks from the Old City Hall and the street in front of the Old City Hall is the same avenue where the Masskara Street Dance Competition passes.A little warning though, the area is an old district so it feels like being in Quiapo or Recto in Manila. It could really get dirty and smelly during the festival.
CHEAP but If you have spare cash,go somewhere else.
- Ramekin20 (4/5): HAVE A SECOND OPTION - We got Deluxe Room and upon entering and seeing the room quality all I thought to myself was to opt for another hotel. Though my friends are just after for a nice place to sleep we decided to stay for the rest of the nights. Service was good enough, the person I am dealing with in the making the reservation was helpful and replying to my email queries, and upon arrival and finishing with the front desk the room attendant got our bags and accompany us to our room. The room they offered to has no window. Parts of the room and has cracks on the wall and bed linens are dirty whites. Bathroom was awful, a lot of grime and stain on the tiles, cobwebs was also present, trash bins has cigarette marks.
It’s really a not good bathroom; my bathroom at home though old is far cleaner. Having said that location was the great, near to SM, Manokan Country, San Sebastian Cathedral etc., and if you might change your mind there is also hotels nearby.
- Ella2012 (4/5): not worth the money - got a business matrimonial & a deluxe matrimonial room but both rooms had the quality of a standard (or even less) room. rooms were dirty, we have to request for a cleaning service. bathrooms are slimy & moldy, etc.,just a bad experience! my advise...find another hotel to stay in.
- foot_adventurer (4/5): Cheap - Spent one night in Bacolod City. Travelled by fast craft from Iloilo. Haven't been here for a long time so I wanted to visit and have a food trip :) on my own. I told myself don't be picky with the hotel because I just needed a bed to sleep in for a night and the taxi took me this place because it's centrally located.
Positives - charming receptionists. The twin bed room is a good size. It's just P850
Negatives - there were huge flies in the room. Wifi barely works. I was glad they have rooms on the 2nd floor that has a small window because the other rooms on the 3rd floor at this price has no window at all. Stuffy and smelly (it's old). And, and, oh never mind.
- Trahtur (6/5): Old hotel but convenient location - Very old hotel as my great-grandmother. Old furniture, hard mattress ,towels are grey and lacerated but new TV plasma. Air con is noisy as a chopper. The floor in a shower is not cleared of old age but new curtain in a shower. The ceiling in the room was with leaks. Very convenient location, close to Central Market, SM Bacolod, public park, pier with ferries to another islands and public transport. The room was cleaned every day.
I stayed for 5 nights in business matrimonial room. Room overlooks the rooftop garden. Very helpful and attentive staff. I was there during the earthquake, the building of the hotel was shaking slightly but nothing is collapsed to my surprise and happiness.
- LizaW217 (2/5): Trying to be something it most definitely isn't... - We chose the hotel because of great reviews in our guidebook and because it boasted free wi-fi which we needed to plan important stages of our trip. We arrived and were a bit shocked at the price (double what the book said) and when we expressed surprise, the receptionist instantly became moody and sullen. Weighing up the option of forking out for another cab, finding our second choice full, we decided to bite the bullet and cough up - after all we were getting a great room with our desired wi-fi and additionally, cable TV (an almost non-existent treat for us) and hot water....weren't we?
Before we could blink, a porter had loaded our rucksacks onto his trolley and took us to the wrong floor but we felt obliged to tip him. When we found our room, quite frankly, it stank - literally! The smell was like blue cheese and it was everywhere, in the bathroom, on the linen and especially the towels. The bathroom had not been cleaned in between uses of the room either. But we're used to things like this so we didn't say anything, even though we should have done considering the price (we are budget travellers). Then the wi-fi didn't work and neither did the telly...and when we had eventually had enough and complained we were told it would be fixed in half an hour - funnily enough it wasn't.
We said we would not be paying full price as we hadn't had use of the full facilities. Again, treated very rudely by sneering receptionist...who told us we could deal with her manager in the morning.
The rest of the staff - security, canteen, porter were all really nice though!!
