Lisa (10/5): - The hotel had lots of historic charm, the staff were responsive and kind, and the rooms were spacious and modern. My only complaint is that the pull out sofa bed was incredibly uncomfortable—the mattress was thin and flat (unevenly so, it’s obviously old) and the springs dug into me all night. So a great place to stay as long as you’re using the regular beds, just know the sofa bed is… a challenge.

Deborah (10/5): Wonderful hotel! - We stayed at Samuel Elbert Hotel on 5/19/25. It was one of my favorite places to ever spend the night. The rooms are beautiful, quiet and very clean. The front desk checking in and checking out were so nice and friendly. We ate at the adjoining restaurant and the food was delicious. I can’t say enough about this hotel. I will definitely stay there my next trip to Elberton. A real jewel!

Ashur (6/5): Not sure I would return. - The amenities are kinda falsely advertised. The breakfast was skimpier than the usual continental. They had muffins, bagel, yogurt, and orange juice. The bar was closed. I’m not even sure their “restaurant” is operational. The bed was comfortable, however, the AC had a lock that wouldn’t let you cool any lower than 69. As a paying customer who likes to sleep in the cold, this was frustrating.

James (6/5): Bummed Out. - Heard someone complaining that there room was not cleaned. The next night it happened to me. New towels, but no vacuum, or wipe down. Even left a tip the day before. I read in the reviews that someone had a bad view. I made reservations chancing it. Got a view of A Coke sign on a brick wall. Room 407. Don’t be assigned a room. You will get well you know. If you smoke it’s smoke free even the sidewalk. I asked why I can’t smoke on the sidewalk they said you will bring smoke in with you. Great for non smokers. But at 5 in the morning walking square attracts police. Great police presence but what a hassle.

dpearce6 (8/5): A Four Star Hotel in Small Southern Town - The Samuel Elbert is a surprise as one doesn’t expect such a nice hotel in a small southern town like Elberton, Georgia. However, finding ourselves in northeast Georgia on a late Sunday afternoon we decided to stay and the Samuel Elbert was a great choice. The historical building has been well updated. The front desk receptionist was friendly and helpful. Our corner room was spacious, clean and well appointed. The king bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately Sunday night in Elberton is “deadsville”. The hotel restaurant is not open Sunday night. There was literally only one local full-service restaurant open, a mediocre Mexican that was not memorable. The next morning the breakfast offerings at the hotel were limited, but to be fair there were only five rooms occupied Sunday night so it’s not surprising. Sunday evening is probably not a good barometer of the hotel or the town’s potential. It’s likely any other night’s stay would be more lively. However, overall the hotel is excellent and if you find yourself in Elberton, it’s unquestionably the best choice.

I was meeting a friend for lunch at 12 in the hotel restaurant. Asked at front desk if I could have a later checkout at 12. Was told Hotel Manager would need to be contacted. By the time I got up to my room, they called to say 11:30 would be absolute latest time, which I took. Seemed a bit unreasonable to me, but I did check out at 11:30 and waited for my friend in the hotel lobby. These seem minor to me, but they did give me pause. I am originally from Elberton and am proud of this hotel. It would really be a plus to have someone help seniors with luggage. And, the restaurant food needs an upgrade. My room and the hotel employees were A !! C

carolriddle (10/5): Special hotel find in Elberton - This is a quaint updated hotel in the downtown area. The room we stayed was a king which was very spacious with a comfortable bed. It had a sitting area and pullout couch (comfy as well). Being in a corner room it was very quiet even though we were on the street side. A few shops within walking distance. Staff was very responsive to requests and room was clean. A great cafe was the M&D down the one way street. The breakfast had limited items but did have a few hot items (biscuit, bacon, sausage, you would to check the milk as it tasted spoiled).

Clean chill rooms with a bar and food downstairs so you don’t have to go anywhere, and it’s right next to town square. Price wasn’t too crazy when I went. Free parking.

Q477PLpath (2/5): Would not recommend this hotel - My husband and I checked into The Samuel Elbert Hotel in Elberton, GA on October 10, 2023 for an anniversary trip. We were planning on staying two nights. We ate at the Quarry restaurant in the hotel. I ordered fried butterfly shrimp (which I believe were frozen and not fresh because of their perfect symmetry), garlic mashed potatoes (which were not garlic but runny instant potatoes) and salad. Later that evening I was very sick. I can only blame my sickness to something I ate at the restaurant because after eating we went directly to our room. Because of my illness, we had to check out after one night and we were not able to stay for the second night. When we received our credit card bill I saw there were charges for two nights' stay. I was never advised by the desk when we checked out that we would be charged for the second night since we did not stay for that night. I called the hotel four times in three days and asked to speak to the manager about the additional charge of $171. I was told the manager was not in and would return my call. She never did. When not hearing back from her I called the hotel and was told that the manager had noted in their computer system that we would NOT be refunded for the second night’s charges even though we did not stay. I was advised they had a 72 hour cancellation policy. Well, the 72 hour period before our reservation, I was feeling fine and I was unaware that I was going to be sick from their food. I guess if I had died due to the bad food, the hotel would still have charged me. The fact that the manager never returned my calls but simply noted my dilemma in their computer system, says a lot about this hotel's hospitality policy. Since I was being ignored by the manager, I decided to email the hotel. FINALLY, I received an email in response to my email from KaraLeigh Jones, the GM who told me our early departure WOULD NOT be refunded. I would not recommend this hotel due to their customer service policy, and would certainly not recommend the restaurant.

Anthony (10/5): Strong recommend - I’ve traveled for work to many cities. For a small town hotel, I was shockingly surprised at the room layout, design, artwork, bathroom, bed, cleanliness, etc. Very similar to a $400/night hotel in a major city.
