• Reineke (9/5): totale ontspanning in een betoverend mooie omgeving en met superlief personeel - wat een totaal prachtige plek, direct aan zee, klotsende golven, heerlijke zonnebedjes en superlief personeel. Het is allemaal heel kleinschalig (11 kamers) en dus zeker in het voorseizoen heel veel aandacht en totaal verwend. Ook de bedden waren uitstekend en de douche ook. Verder is de omgeving betoverend mooi, ook echt leuk om te wandelen. Bij aankomst hadden we de grote ferrey (en buggy voor 20 euro) genomen. Je bleek echter ook een klein bootje te kunnen nemen voor 5 euro pp dat aanlegt bij het hotel. Superfijn, leuk en praktisch. Wij waren in het voorseizoen. Misschien lag het daaraan dat het ontbijt beperkt was. Elke dag hetzelfde. Alleen witte afbakbroodjes, geen yoghurt of cereals of iets dergelijks. Wel lekkere eiergerechten en pannenkoekjes. In de kamers zijn geen horren aanwezig. Geen probleem in het voorseizoen, maar weet niet hoe dat in de zomer is. Tenslotte: het is heel erg duur. Bereid je daarop voor: 22 euro voor een voorgerecht van 1 ravioli. Het is vakantie, dus je gaat niet beknibbelen, maar sommige zaken waren echt heel erg aan de prijs
• Nicole (10/5): Außergewöhnlich ! Für alle die eine ruhige Umgebung im Urlaub suchen ist es perfekt - Die Unterkunft war in jeder Hinsicht sehr schön. Außergewöhnliche Lage, herrliche Ruhe und besonders freundliches Personal! Wir haben 1 Woche Anfang Mai dort verbracht und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Auch das Essen im Hotel eigenen Restaurant ist sehr empfehlenswert. Für uns gibt es keine negativen Punkte

Food - be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner - was exceptional as was the service in the restaurant, especially from Sinisa. Sea and pool both warm enough to swim in too!

• Paul (10/5): - Truly a special location with the hotel being on the seafront - this makes the bar and restaurant a lovely relaxing place to stay. I stayed with my partner and young 18 month old and it was a magical place for us to stay, which was a relief as holidaying with a toodler can be quite a gamble. The island is beautiful and a lovely place to stay for a few days - it is a little quiet so suits a good relaxing holiday of swimming, hiking and sunshine. As above, the island is quiet and suits people who love a good walk - so know what your getting into.

• Andrea (10/5): Fantastisch für alle, die geniessen können!! - Alles 😃! Wir wurden (auf Wunsch) am Flughafen abgeholt, mit dem Boot direkt zum Hotelpier gebracht und herzlich empfangen. So aufmerksam ging es die ganze Woche weiter - unsere Wünsche wurden stets mit Freundlichkeit erfüllt. Das Essen war lecker, mit Liebe angerichtet und individuell. Areas do need attention to detail Such as broken decking slabs around the pool and debris in the water from the boats that visit for the day ! We expected a quiet remote hotel but did not envisage the influx of boats arriving with music and kids /dogs leaving rubbish in the water . Nor day trippers using the hotel cabanas which we thought were for the use of hotel guests only . The website shows 4 set dinner menus plus al a carte yet these were not available. Limited menu with no vegetables to order as side dishes We booked a premium suite with terrace yet there was only one sunbed !

• David (10/5): A picture-perfect vacation - I think there might have been a mistake - I reserved a one-bedroom unit, and ended up with a two-bedroom unit, the largest room in the hotel. The views were glorious, and I had dinner on the balcony on the last day. The personnel were very friendly, from the front desk to the restaurant staff. Housekeeping even provided first aid for a bite (unknown) on my foot from a previous hotel stay. WiFi doesn’t always extend to the balcony.

• Arfon (10/5): Amazing relaxing stay - Amazing stay at Kalamota, such a relaxing and calming location. We stayed for 4 nights and this was a perfect amount of time to unwind. As other reviewers say, this is a relatively remote location with not much alternative options available for say eating and drinking. Main port is 20 mins walk away which we did a couple of times and enjoyed it. Food, drink and service at Kalamota is exceptional, so other than the expense there is no reason to go anywhere else. No shops on offer other than small shop at the port with very limited selection, so bring with you from the mainland if needed. Overall, we had a superb stay, left very relaxed and ready for our next stop. Very highly recommend. Nothing
• Magali (7/5): Emplacement très agréable mais hôtel pas adapté pour une longue durée de séjour - L’emplacement et la gentillesse du personnel Pour un séjour de longue durée comme le nôtre (10 nuits), il est vrai que les plats proposés au restaurant sont très chers et peu copieux, pas de choix adapté pour les enfants. Le petit déjeuner est toujours le même. La solution 1 chambre et le sofa dans le salon n’est pas optimale car le matelas du sofa est très fin et sur des ressorts qui font du bruit. Le ménage est très approximatif. Il se réduit à vider les poubelles, faire les lits et changer les serviettes. Les sanitaires et la salle de bain mériteraient sur des longs séjours à davantage de ménage. Par ailleurs, c’est un peu l’anarchie pour les transats. Nous avons retrouvé toutes nos affaires sur le sol par une gentille famille de britanniques… Pourtant nous y avons séjourné l’année dernière pour 3 nuits et étions enchanté. Plus déçus cette année

• Jean-Charles (10/5): Magical adriatic holiday at Kalamota Beach House - Kalamota Beach House is one of the most magical places I have ever stayed at - and I have been fortunate enough to travel a lot in Europe, the Americas, Africa and Asia. The island really is a small Adriatic paradise - the area called Placet, above the famous blue cave, is one of the Most beautiful stretches of Mediterranean coastlines I have ever seen. The boutique hotel (10 rooms) is located in a tiny and magical village/port called Gornje Celo. There are maybe 20 houses and a small chapel, the hotel, and lovely sandy beach, a taverna serving amazing food and a bar. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the food is outstanding - as is the wine - and the service is wonderful. One person in particular made our stay even more unforgettable: delightful Sinisa. A lovely, lovely man who o hope to see again soon.
• Jacqueline (9/5): Sublimely relaxing stay in a beautiful hotel! - Beautiful hotel with a magical setting. We were whisked to the hotel by boat from the port and met by smiling staff and a glass of fizz! What a welcome! We were sadly only at the hotel for a very short time but got a feel for the place. The breakfasts were delicious, and I loved that the hotel provides kayaks for guests to use at no extra charge… Guests putting their towels onto the beds first thing in the morning and then disappearing!!

• ANTHONY (10/5): Peaceful, relaxed with a taste of class - The staff were amazing, arranging transport from the airport. We were met with champagne on reception and everything was arranged for us over our four days. We were treated like royalty and it was an exceptional trip. The restaurant served up potentially the best steak I’ve ever eaten.

El restaurante en una terraza al aire libre, con una vista hermosa. Había posibilidad de ir a otras playas cerca y también muy lindas. Para mejorar algún cambio del menú en los días, para nuestra estadía de 5 noches hubiera sido bueno tener otras opciones.
• Sandrine Ramboux (8/5): Perfect place to chill out, feeling on a own private island. - The location is really great to get a rest from the busy life of Dubrovnik, small cove with village vibes. There are regular boats from Dubrovnik to reach easily the hotel and honnestly the walk towards the other side of the island is just so cute. Our appartment had a beautiful view on the sea with a super large terrasse to enjoy a little bit of shade, recently renovated, airco, super comfortable beds and at night...no noise, just the stars! The disadavantages of a remote place :-): There are not so many boats and one need to count 7-8 EUR per trip and 1h to reach Dubrovnik old town. We could not really stay late in Dubrovnik (unless getting the private boat)... The food at the restaurant was nice but super tiny portions (and there are not really other alternatives on the island). Breakfast was ok but I would have expected something better from the location
• Fredrik (10/5): We will come back! - Fantastic small and cozy hotel in a secluded setting! Excellent, dedicated and caring staff, very helpful and kind. Good and fresh food in the wonderful restaurant, portions on the smaller side however. Very good breakfast. We took a taxi transfer and private boat directly from the airport to the hotel, all booked through the hotel, arriving there in just an hour!

With only 11 bedrooms, you get amazing service from all the staff, everyone of them eager to please.. the restruant manager and his staff are really great with a relaxed manner, but professional at the same time.. The food is also excellent. The Island of Kolocep is very small, with no cars, but lots of footpaths which gives access to all points of the island, with stunning views from cliff tops towards other nearby islands which are reached by ferry.. If you want to stay in a small boutique hotel, with excellent food, really lovely rooms with sea views.. this is for you. On every point it gets a 10 rating, every member of staff wanting to help at all times.. Never had a holiday that has relaxed us so much.. we just have to go back to this paradise!!

• Valeria (10/5): Super Relaxing stay! - We enjoyed sunbathing on the very comfy sun lunges by the sea. Our room was big and had everything you needed. We have used the balcony to watch the sunrise and sunset. The staff was super nice all the time both during the day and evening. The food was delicious and great cocktails to enjoy in the evening or while sunbathing. It was a very relaxing holiday and this is what we wanted.

• Dina (10/5): Small piece of paradise, 20 minutes away from Dubrovnik - Extremely attentive and friendly staff that made sure we were comfortable from the moment we stepped foot on the island. The hotel is right on the beach and I loved watching the sunrise from my room, then having breakfast every day right by the sea. The amenities are new and clean, breakfast is varied and tasty. Communication was great pre arrival, we were greeted from the ferry with the buggy to the other side of the island. Hotel is lovely, but it was the friendliness of the staff and level of service that made it such a special place to stay. If you want a relaxing holiday to swim and walk then the island is perfect, no cars, lovely sun sets. Food at the hotel was superb however if you'd like to make use of the kitchen in your room and self cater, there's very limited food choice in the shop 20 minute walk away. Advise bringing food over from the mainland supermarket.

Staff were all lovely especially the lady on reception and Sinisa who could not have done more for us . Thank you Sinisa! Loved the speed boat return trip to Dubrovnik. Very comfortable terrace looking out on a fabulous view. Pool area decking needs repairing in a couple of places. Water in the room would have been nice

A staff member even picked up us and dropped us back at the ferry port in a buggy which i would advise doing as it’s quite a walk in the heat! The decor and surrounding are really modern and rooms spacious and clean. The restaurant does really nice high end food. Cannot fault this place, I would visit again 100% Nothing!

It was perfect for a quiet, family week away. Beautiful sea and Dubrovnik bridge view from our balcony. We traveled with two kids and loved the rooftop pool and the seaside loungers. The breakfast was wonderful and had excellent coffee. Very, very kind and accommodating restaurant staff - nothing was too much trouble and they were very kind with the kids. The free use of kayaks was amazing and the staff in general was extremely accommodating and friendly. Excellent kitchen and fridge in the apartment(although we had trouble finding anywhere to shop for food to cook). We loved staying here and would do so again in an instant. Thank you so much to all the staff at the hotel for an amazing, relaxing week. Beware the 'short 20 minute stroll' described is unrealistic with luggage or small children, especially in hot weather. Mario was very friendly and picked us up from the ferry (this was an extra charge, but he did two trips for all our luggage and only charged us for one). The only shop on the island is on the other side and has very little in it for cooking, only snacks, drinks and sundries. Also this little shop only takes cash and the ATM around the corner charges a hefty fee. Although we had a good breakfast at the restaurant, there were very few options near the hotel for lunch and dinner (and only take cash). We ate one dinner at the hotel restaurant and it was overpriced. It would be great if there were a clothes drying rack in the room as our wet bathing suits kept blowing off the balcony railing. I asked at reception and they didn't have one. The ferry going from our side of the island only goes at 7am and 7pm on weekdays (although the schedule seems to be a tightly guarded secret), and the main ferry from the other side is quite a hike, so be prepared to be a little isolated. We spent one day in Dubrovnik and brought back some groceries to cook. We also had booked a lovely 4-hour private boat tour around the islands and did some snorkelling. Our guide Antonio was very friendly and accommodating. Also staying for an entire week, a few other options for breakfast would have been nice, although fresh fruit, eggs and pancakes every day was pretty good!

• Jerome (9/5): - A real hidden gem in a secluded and quiet cave. Incredibly peaceful location with only one bar and one fish restaurant in this small little bay with very clear water. Hotel is vey well run with a simple and nice design. Pleasant roof top pool. Nothing. Some might find the location too remote from the main settlement only reachable by a 20mn walk but that's part of the island charm which is overall very low key. No car only one tiny supermarket

• Rebecca (10/5): Incredible hotel, loved every minute - We LOVED this hotel! The nicest place we’ve ever stayed, worth every penny. We stayed for our anniversary and it felt so special. The whole island is walkable in around 45 minutes. We saw starfish and octopus whilst snorkling! One of the only sandy beaches and seabeds we found in Croatia, brilliant for swimming. Used the rooftop pool a couple of tomes and had it all to ourselves. Brilliant friendly and kind staff. Loved every minute!! Ordered a couple of smoothies, which for €11 were not very nice. But that would be our only complaint!

• deborah (9/5): Small, intimate hotel with a touch of class, in a beautiful location, didn’t want to leave! - The location is beautiful. The sea is safe and sandy. The hotel is on the waters edge. The staff are friendly, helpful and extremely hard working. The apartment was clean and comfortable and super quiet. The food is, in the main very good and executed well, especially the scallops and tuna. The lunchtime menu had simpler options which were welcome. Breakfast was really delicious, fresh fruit and excellent omelettes and perfect poached eggs. I love the intimate feel of this hotel and the laid back vibe with a touch of class. The private transfers by speed boat are a great start/end to the stay. The evening restaurant menu could offer some simpler options. The cabana beds are super comfy, there could be a couple more to accommodate everyone by the sea. The pool area had no shade so was not an option as the weather was unseasonably hot.

• Seema (10/5): Perfect R&R - This is the quiet side of Kolocep. The staff are excellent; competent, gracious and thoughtful. The food is excellent and the setting superb.
• Kateryna (10/5): Jednym słowem - było cudownie! - Cudowne miejsce! Super obiekt, tuż nad morzem z pięknymi widokami! Personal bardzo miły i stara się spełnić wszystkie zapotrzebowania jak na przykład dodatkowe krzesełko do karmienia. Wyspa jest śliczna, nie ma żadnego samochodu, można naprawdę odpocząć. To nie jest minus tylko co można usprawnić: brakowało suszarki do bielizny na balkonie a w aneksie kuchennym ścierkę i sól :) Na wyspie jest tylko 1 sklep, w które prawie nic nie ma :D trzeba to brać pod uwagę jeżeli ktoś tego potrzebuje.
• Sarah (10/5): Relaxing, beautiful; wonderful stay - This hotel is really beautiful-a gorgeous location and very peaceful. The staff are wonderful - very friendly and helpful. Loved the private boat transfer from Dubrovnik. Complete relaxation. The restaurant is lovely; all dishes we tried were excellent although there weren’t many other options open on the island when we visited and it is nice to have a change of scene sometimes. Also there is just one local shop on the other side of the island for basic supplies (crisps/drinks etc) it would have been lovely to make a coffee or the odd pasta lunch in the apartment for example, but it was tricky to get hold of things like that.
• Katrin (10/5): - Dieses kleine Beachhotel liegt in einer traumhaften Bucht. Vom Fährhafen ca 30 min zu laufen oder man lässt sich kostenpflichtig mit dem Golfcar abholen. Der Blick aus dem Zimmer ist unvergesslich, Ausstattung top, die Angestellten sind unglaublich aufmerksam und lesen einem jeden Wunsch von den Augen ab. Ein unvergesslicher Urlaub! Ich würde für diese Unterkunft 11 von 10 Punkten geben. Falls es überhaupt etwas zu beanstanden gibt, dann die Tatsache, dass sich unser Zimmer nicht komplett verdunkeln ließ und früh morgens die Sonne rechts und links und oberhalb des Vorhangs vorbei schien. Aber es gibt schlimmeres als von der Sonne geweckt zu werden.

• Yvonne (5/5): We so very much wanted to love this hotel but there are too many flaws - We loved the location and the style of the property however, beware as we were having an early dinner one evening and there were boats tied up on the wall next to the hotel restaurant that were playing very loud music and partying onboard. We moved tables but because the music was so loud. When we asked the waiter if the hotel owned the sea wall the boats were tied up to he said no so there was nothing the hotel could do about. We hurriedly ate our dinner and had to leave. We sat on our terrace and a few minutes before the hotel were due an arrival the manager appeared and asked the boats to lower the volume of the music which they complied with. This made our bad experience even worse. There is no restaurant close by to go for dinner so you really are stuck. The dinner menu was very limited. The food was lacking flavours and was always served lukewarm/cold. The prices of the food & drink are expensive for the standard & quality. The shop is too far away from the hotel and has very limited food.

We’d chosen to walk here from the ferry on the other side of the island, so the relaxed checkin with a small glass of local sparkling wine was very welcome and set the tone for our 2 nights here. We were able to check-in early which was very much appreciated. The room was spotlessly clean. The wow factor was that it overlooked the sea and we could hear the water at night - very relaxing. After reading other reviews we brought our own tea so that we could enjoy a cuppa before breakfast on our balcony. I loved the small touches to make our stay so enjoyable- our bed had been made, bin emptied and the floor mopped etc while were at breakfast. We used the hotel Kayaks to see the Blue Caves and lighthouse and swam in the little bay near the hotel. We also spent a day walking around the beautiful, peaceful island with its stunning views of the Adriatic from the pine tree forest and so much different wild flora to appreciate. Thoroughly recommend. Wish we’d stayed longer. Everything was good

• Michel And Marianne (10/5): Droomplek! - Wat een heerlijke plek en super fijn hotel aan 'de andere kant' van het prachtige eilandje Kolocep. Hier kom je echt helemaal tot rust. Service van de medewerkers is 100% top en oprecht. Kamer was heerlijk ruim, mega groot balkon met zicht op de baai en het blauwe water van de zee en de lucht. Heerlijk bed. Super goed verzorgd ontbijt aan tafel geserveerd. En mooie kaart voor de lunch en diner. Het lijkt wel of je hier je eigen butler hebt! Je kunt bij het hotel kajakken lenen en naar de blauwe grot gaan. En een prachtige wandeling maken over het eilandje is ook de moeite waard. Verder kun je makkelijk met de veerboot (3 euro) naar de haven van Dubrovnik heen en weer.
