Guest Reviews
- James (10/5): Reliable hotel in the centre of Preston - I have stayed here many times over the past ten years and I always get a friendly welcome from the owner who remembers me. The room is spacious and well maintained and the breakfast is cooked to order and delicious.
- Carol (10/5): Would Not Hesitate to recommend Ashwood Hotel! - My first stay at Ashwood Hotel and it was brilliant! Lovely, friendly welcome by the owner of this family run business; which by the way has been established with an excellent reputation for many years. The outside of the hotel was clean and well maintained and safe entry system in place. All communal areas throughout the establishment were bright and spotlessly clean all looking and smelling fresh. Tastefully decorated throughout . The room I had was warm, very clean including the carpet and paintwork and like the foyer/ reception area and the dining room was bright and tastefully decorated. My single bed was very comfortable with clean and fresh bed linen ( white) the TV was modern and of a good size in excellent working order and clean working remote. The room also had plenty of drawers,a spacious and clean white painted wardrobe in which were proper wooden hangers. There was also a full length mirror inside the wardrobe on the door and another on the wall. Very handy bedside locker which matched the table and drawers on which the TV was placed. A tub chair to sit on also. The hospitality tray had plenty of tea bags, coffee and hot chocolate sachets along with the little milk cartons,a clean and good quality kettle ,cup and saucer etc . My shower room ( en suite ) was extremely clean, like elsewhere and had a nice shower, with a modern and clean shower head. Plenty of white, clean and fresh towels and toiletries. Breakfast menu was excellent perfectly cooked or niceContinental.
- Mario (10/5): - Great location
Short walk to stadium
- Karen (6/5): - It was a little dated, but we got what we paid for. I'm not fussy and only stayed overnight, so it sufficed. Lovely owner.

The room had cigarette smell. On pointing that out, we were offered a different room. We chose to continue in the same room because it was spacious.
- Ian (10/5): - Location ideal for our visit to Preston and had a good night's sleep
- Vivienne (8/5): Relaxing and Comfortable stay in Preston - Relaxed well run hotel just a few minutes walk from train station. Ideal for me! Spacious room and very clean. Nice cooked breakfast.
Only negative really was that the remote for the T.V., didn't work. I don't think it was the batteries as the red light came on when pressed, but didn't connect to the television so had to use manual buttons both nights in the evening. Hard to find and located under the set.
- Claire (10/5): 10/10 for this hotel - The lady that greated us were lovely really made us feel very welcome the rooms were very clean the breakfast we had was really nice we really could not fault our stay here all the staff were lovely we would definitely stay here again we highly recommend this hotel.

We missed breakfast as we didnt know what time it was served till. Breakfast finished at 9am I was told when i rang to ask. The lady thought she had told my parents but they didnt recall her saying this. Other than that was good stay

- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was a nice hotel to stay for 2 day short trip. Service was pleasant and excellent. Loved the breakfast served there. Cleanliness was good. Good for the price. As it is near to Railway Station, it was convenient. Only thing to improve would be to provide better toiletries and better duvet, but was ok.

- Robert (10/5): - Was an overnight stay for one night only but lovely service and a clean and comfortable accommodation.
- Andy (10/5): Centrally located hotel, value for money. - Nice hotel, friendly and convient for town centre and railway station
- Jo (10/5): Great little gem at Preston - Very friendly staff
Room was a decent size & very clean. Bathroom small but spotless.
Breakfast in morning was lovely & again staff very friendly
- Andrew (8/5): Cosy. - Arriving late but i was able to enter as keys were put under the mat for me, very nice. Please advice when booking if you have problems with stairs as i forget too and found myself allocated 3rd floor! The room was fairly clean but the unseen parts ie behind the bedside tables need a good dusting. The shared bathroom was clean but the shower was useless, just a dmall spray and the handle it fixed too was droopy. The bed i had was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast was very nice but please make sure your order is taken correctly if your fussy like me. I ordered Fried eggs on fried bread with bacon and sausage, when delivered they had beans and runny tomatoes which i dont like, fairplay though, the very pleasant lady soon sorted it.Very good location for the rail station. Would i return, yes but hopefully the shower is sorted!!
- Aaron (8/5): - The room was quiet, clean and tidy. Short walk from the centre. Good location with parking.

- M V (10/5): Lovely stay - Lovely hotel, welcoming hostess. Close to to amenities and town centre.
Great choice of breakfast, overall, very comfortable. Thanks.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Marjory was a lovely host and we had a nice stay at the Ashwood. Despite being an older building it was decorated nicely in the public areas. The breakfast and service was good. The bedroom was plain but clean and functional. I would stay again.
- Claire (10/5): - The hotel was lovely & clean & centrally located. The staff were lovely & very welcoming.
- Diana (2/5): - We cancelled it and didn’t stay . We need a refund
- k (10/5): Great value - Very friendly with nice facilties
- Melanie (10/5): A really lovely hotel. - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was clean and fresh. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was lovely too! We would definitely stay here again. Thanks xx
- Malcolm (8/5): Overnight stay. - Parking large cars / estates difficult as cars stick out on pavement.
Bed hard and not comfortable
Landlady a bit to regimental.
However the lady was helpful when we asked where we could leave our bike ( cycles).
- malcolm (8/5): 5 mins from preston ststion - A comfortable ensuite room within 5 mins walk from preston station convenient for blackpool and oxenholme
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A little dated but clean and comfortable. Friendly welcome from the owner and nice breakfast. Great value for money.
- G C (10/5): Off chasing Trains - Was only for one night to go next day to Ribble railway museum which had reopened after lockdown. Excellent breakfast.
- Trish (8/5): - The room was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. I asked for a sheet for myself as I get hot and prefer not to have a duvet and one we supplied. The pillow cases were changed after 1 night. The whole hotel was clean and tidy. The first receptionist didn't know what she was doing but said she's been off a while. The main receptionist was friendly and responsive. The location is useful for the shopping area and train station and was only 10 minute walk from the local uni. The only downside was the traffic outside the window facing the street was very loud. Saturday night had lots of party goers walking past shouting and heavy traffic until after 2am which started up again around 6am. There is secondary glazing but it only subdues the noise so much. I would definitely stay here again but with ear plugs. I was very disappointed that there was no breakfast apparently due to Covid 19. We were not informed and the price was not reduced to reflect this.
- ALAN T (8/5): Overnight Stop - Staff friendly and helpful, room and hotel clean and tidy, bed comfortable and good breakfast. Handy for Preston Station.
- Geraint (8/5): One night stay - Comfortable bed and a good breakfast served by staff who were polite at a reasonable price. Can’t ask for more really.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A good place for night stay.
- Alan (10/5): - Enjoyed our stay, upgraded to ensuite.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very nice modest hotel. Helpful staff. Could recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel to stay - This is the second time I stayed at Ashwood Hotel to attend a hearing at Preston. The hotel is walking distance to the station. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast was nice.
- Mark (10/5): Good value. - Very very good - for the price. Good value.
- Michael (10/5): - I stay here often as it's close to the station and to where I work
- Robert (8/5): Reasonable Hotel in Preston - Inexpensive hotel 10 minutes from the railway station. Room was quite spacious, the taps were very old and did not work properly. Breakfast was first class. So inexpensive reasonable quality hotel.
- George (8/5): Very Clean Hotel at a Bargain Price - The Ashwood hotel is very clean and is a surprising find in the centre of the town. With breakfast included it is a bargain. Only thing to watch out for is the amount of stairs you may have to climb.
- Gavin (8/5): - No complaints. Totally fit for my purpose (base for rail tour of NW England). Breakfasts particularly tasty (and kitchen staff certainly know how to cook scrambled eggs!)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly atmosphere and staff. Breakfast fantastic and quick service.
- Ranjana (10/5): GUPTA - VERY GOOD STAFF . GOOD BREAKFAST. VERY GOOD LOCATION
- Michael (8/5): Last minute.com - One night very brief ,comfortable ,quiet , good breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Happy with our stay here clean room and very nice breakfast in the morning good value accommodation
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was really clean coming in and staff are beyond lovely. :)
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good hotel near train station good breakfast.
- ALAN (10/5): A good value experience - Clean, convenient and a great breakfast. Overall a good value experience although the internet was less than reliable. I'll be back!
- ian (6/5): - hotel was ok, very convenient for the railway station, staff were helpful..The wi fi was a problem though - the first room i was in (35) it would not work so they moved me to room 31 where it also refused to work. I could get wi fi down in the entrance room by the reception area but not the bedrooms.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Central location close to the train station. Very friendly staff and good breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfy bed, clean room with washbasin. Friendly staff. Short walk from town centre. Great value for money.
- K (2/5): Horrible costly night. - The room was as noisy as if I was lying on the tarmac, windows not double glazed,so could not sleep all night hence spoiling my whole day at work following day.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We had spent only a night at Ashwood Hotel and it was a good stay.
- Shelendra (6/5): - No fan in rooms in a humid weather it’s really bad
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location, nice and friendly personnel, good breakfast.
- Michael (8/5): Thoroughly recommended - Very welcoming hotel close to railway station but quiet. Happy to let me leave my bag when I arrived hours before check-in time. Well-appointed and comfortable room, well cleaned each day. Bathroom clean and well appointed. Good breakfast, flexible times to allow early start.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to town, clean rooms, friendly staff and excellent breakfast
- leonard (8/5): Friendly, clean hotel. - Just stayed the one night between trains at preston, hotel service was excellent, room was clean and tidy. There was road noise until very late but slept ok, there was a shared bathroom on our floor but that was no problem, breakfast was very good and the hotel is about seven minutes walk from the railway station.
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable hotel, but not perfect. - The Ashwood is a great choice if you're staying in Preston. It's location near the station is perfect. It's a homely and comfortable hotel. Some updating would be good and a more powerful shower would be nice, but the reason it dropped a point was breakfast. With the vegetarian English breakfast, I could have hash brown or mushrooms, but not both! Absolutely ridiculous. Makes no sense at all, as they are not remotely comparable. If they wanted to be that penny pinching, then plum tomato or mushrooms would have made more sense. It's a shame, as it's otherwise a great place.
