Guest Reviews
- Katie (10/5): Lovely hotel, can’t wait to visit again. - Great location near to town and the views from my bedroom were beautiful. Breakfast was great and staff were really friendly - thank you. Unfortunately I was woken up by drunk guests at 23:30 because it’s an older building and not particularly well sound proofed but this is no fault of the hotel and I can’t imagine they get a lot of party goers staying there - I was probably very unlucky!
- Chris (8/5): Thanks - Would stay again
- James (7/5): It was good, great location - Location, staff and food Nothing
- Joanne (8/5): Perfect location and excellent breakfast. - Great location with lovely views of lake and surrounding mountains. Just a few minutes walk from the center of Keswick. Excellent breakfast! Great parking. Would definitely return. Room needed some updating and a thorough clean but were comfortable.
- Phil (9/5): -
- Sally (10/5): Highly recommended - Warm welcome from staff. Lots of nice touches to make the rooms feel cosy. Very comfortable beds. Convenient and spacious parking and central location. Fantastic views. Good breakfast service. Would love to stay again.
- Janet (10/5): Great find - Great friendly hotel in a very central location. Nothing
- mike (9/5): Fantastic location with good parking. - Friendly staff, good parking, comfortable with a delicious breakfast. Nothing.
- Penny (8/5): A very restful place to stay, close to town, surrounded by beautiful views - The views from the dining room were gorgeous, and the breakfast very good quality. A lovely hotel, with polite, attentive, welcoming staff. Soundproofing between rooms wasn't great: I could hear my neighbours TV (and some conversation) until the early hours. The lack of official reception was a bit odd - nowhere to officially check in or leave keys, just an office that said 'do not enter' and signs that led nowhere!
- Mary (8/5): Despite the few problems we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay again. - Great breakfast, wonderful views from breakfast room and lounge. Afternoon coffee and cake very welcome after a wet walk. Great location, easy to get down to the lake and into the town. The staff were all extremely helpful and welcoming. VERY difficult to find the car park, not signposted and when we did find the lane it seemed like just an entrance to another hotel. Found by a process of elimination. There were noises from above about midnight when we were trying to get to sleep. The room was quite small but adequate.
- John (8/5): - Breakfast was very nice Bathroom slightly mouldy
- Melanie (9/5): Special place to stay to visit Keswick - Beautiful views from bedroom window. Room was large and comfortable being Victorian building high ceilings and lot of features still there.
Staff just so pleasant and helpful. Quiet location but just 10 minute into Keswick town centre.
Afternoon cake and tea/coffee included. Breakfast very good and varied choice.
- Mark (10/5): -
- Graham (9/5): -
- SUZANNE (9/5): Very comfortable - The location is excellent. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The beds are very comfortable. A very nice place to stay.
- Colin (10/5): Would definitely stay again. - Excellent location just a short walk to Main Street and also to the Lake.
I arrived earlier in the day and phoned the Hotel reception, they confirmed I could park in the private car park and check in later.
Enjoyed the Superb breakfast. Nothing to dislike.
- john (10/5): Exceptional customer service and care in an historic and comfortable accommodation. - The host telephoned me when I failed to arrive at my scheduled check in time to see how I was and even stayed on the phone with me with step by step directions to the location (as I managed to get myself lost despite it being a very short walk from the town centre) the host even gave me use of their umbrella when I went out for my evening meal - above and beyond. Nothing.
- Alex (10/5): Lovely hotel and fabulous staff. - Beautiful room (Woodford). Manager was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was superb. Location perfect.
- John (9/5): - Did what it said on the tin plus more
- NEIL (9/5): - All good! All good!
- Gillian (10/5): Really lovely stay - Location was amazing and lovely and clean Nothing
- Margaret (9/5): I would definitely stay here again. - I had a wonderful room on the second floor with a view both of the fells and, from the turret window, across the lake. Everything was beautifully presented and clean. The breakfasts were excellent, with prompt and friendly service, and tea and homemade cake is available in the afternoon. The honesty bar worked well, as you could get things at any time. The hotel has its own carpark which is invaluable in Keswick. I was only sorry that I couldn't have an evening meal here too!
- Shirley (10/5): Everything was amazing. - We went for our anniversary & the Room was amazing the Woodford Suite so beautiful and spacious. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and nicely cooked. Location to the town centre and Derwent Water was perfect a five minute walk. We would definetly go back to this hotel. Thank you
- Henrik (8/5): - Virkelig god beliggenhed og dejlige omgivelser Dynen var for varm og puderne ligeså
- James (8/5): Stay was comfortable, warm and great location with private parking. - Good location with private parking and very friendly staff. The TV was a little small, possibly a little dated. Not enough sockets for the Lamp, Kettle and TV to be plugged in at the same time.
- Robin (9/5): - Our mix-up with dates for our stay was smoothly and cheerfully handled, and we were accommodated with no fuss. This was highly appreciated. The stay was very comfortable in a good location with lovely views
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Nicholas (7/5): Excellent for a good value short stay in Keswick. - Friendly staff & an excellent breakfast. Great location close to the centre of Keswick. Property is a little dated and no decaf tea in the room!
- Jamie (10/5): Absolutely fantastic. - Staff, tidiness, location, breakfast N/A
- Ian (10/5): - Great location. Comfortable warm room.
Excellent quality breakfast. Great choice.
3rd stay here, so think that speaks for itself.
- kim (7/5): Good location, clean and quiet, but in my opinion room was overpriced. - Staff lovely. Hotel immaculately clean and very well positioned in keswick Turret Room very small. Double bed very small. We may just have been unlucky with our room as we did see the inside of another on the same floor which was huge in comparison. I don’t believe that our room was worthy of the price tag.
- Paula (5/5): The hotel was spotless , the lady sorry cannot remember her name who helped with our cases was so so lovely and helpful - The property was stunning . Curtains in the big bay window over looking the tress & the very slight right hand corner view of the lake was half hanging down so when you closed it there was a gap & this looked really shabby . There were rips in both leather arm chairs . The glass shelf in the bathroom slants forward therefore my products that were in glass jars fell off onto the floor , nothing was broken . There were no drinking glasses in bathroom to swill your mouth with & the television had very very limited Chanel’s to use & remote wouldn’t always work . The size of the glass table I front of the two leather arm chairs in room 17 is far to big & heavy . Really struggled to move it to close the curtains at night . That’s the real on dislike .
- Andrew (9/5): Fantastic hotel with a lovely vibe in a great location - Location, breakfast, cleanliness The room is a bit small. This was the only negative to our stay as overall very happy.
- Nigel (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Location for town centre and lakes, best breakfast selection comfortable beds and spotless accommodation.

- Itamar (9/5): -
- Paul (9/5): Enjoyable stay at a good price - Nice & clean, very close to the centre & friendly staff The sloping ceiling in my room, must’ve banged my head a few times. Also the shower cubicle was a bit small
- Jennifer (8/5): Great for a stay in Keswick - Lovely, friendly helpful staff, great breakfast
- Martin (6/5): good location if money is no object - I have stayed here many times with work and wanted to show my wife how good the hotel was as it was our 39th wedding anniversary. The room was the worst room I have stayed in The price was very high for a poor room
- Trevor (10/5): -
- Trenholm (9/5): Great location and stunning views. - The breakfast Directions to car park very poor
- Jackie (8/5): Wonderful staff; comfortable stay even though the property is a bit tired. - Fantastic location It was a bit tired. Could benefit from a deep clean and update.

- Tonia (10/5): - Beds were very comfy. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice. Would definitely go back Could do with an outside light at the front door
- Antonia (10/5): Brilliant x - Beautiful building in stunning location stones throw from the town so easy to get to nice restaurant in evening etc. the staff were lovely and friendly… accommodation little bit love needed in bathroom but everywhere was so clean and great breakfast. Loved the honesty bar but shame there was no low or non alcoholic choices especially as we had some lovely local ones when out and about 👍 No choice of non alcoholic beverages in honesty bar
- Richard (9/5): -
- Diane (9/5): Perfect for an overnight or short stay. - The breakfast was amazing, cooked to perfection and NOT dripping in Grease. Central location. Lighting could have been brighter in the room. Disappointed there was no restaurant or bar.

- Lauren (10/5): -
- Deborah (10/5): Great stay in Keswick - Great location. Room had fabulous views overlooking the lake. Very friendly & welcoming, clean. Lovely breakfast & nice touch with the compliment afternoon tea. Free parking at the back of the hotel. Nothing
- Christian (9/5): Excellent - would definitely recommend - Location was great, quiet and peaceful. Excellent breakfast and super friendly staff Nothing in particular
- The Cusacks (9/5): - Great staff and beautiful location. Nothing.
- Matthew (8/5): Amazing staff, good location - Staff and duty manager were so helpful & friendly an absolutely credit. The room was general in great condition, but patches of mouldy plaster in the windows which sort of distracted from what otherwise was a beautiful suite style room. That said I would stay again, as location, staff, breakfast and general look of hotel was great Mould on plaster on windows
- Debbie (10/5): We had a really lovely stay at the hotel and felt very welcome and at home. - The room was lovely and comfortable. The staff were lovely and friendly and very helpful. I really liked the traditional building and it was very homely. There is an honesty box for the bar which is a nice touch if you want a drink in the evening. I would have liked a pastry or pancake choice at breakfast as an alternative to th full English or egg options but this is purely personal as I veggy but I don’t like eggs.
- Mark (9/5): Lovely traditional hotel , great breakfast , handy for town centre - Great staff , spacious room and wonderful breakfast Would have liked lake view
- Mark (10/5): Very pleasant restful and welcoming! - Beautiful situation. Comfortable accommodation. Very homely. Super breakfasts and afternoon T +cake. Found access steps difficult. Useful having handrail but steps very deep.
- Jane (9/5): A stunning location and an even better room than we expected. - The view from our room's window was stunning. We even had a glorious rainbow in the morning (don't know how Highfield arranged that!). My husband was thrilled to have a bath instead of the usual shower and it was good to have decent coffee in the room. We both enjoyed excellent eggs benedict for breakfast. It might have been nice to have our evening meal in the hotel but we knew that wasn't an option when we booked and it was only a short walk into Keswick where we had a lovely meal at the Fellpack so not really a negative at all.
- Ben (9/5): The staff were very welcoming and helpful, a very pleasant stay overall. - It was a nice property in a beautiful area. It was clean and comfortable and quiet. The full Cumbrian breakfast was delicious and kept me well fuelled for a morning walk up Scafell Pike.
