Guest Reviews
- Lucia (9/5): Wonderful stay with great breakfast and friendly staff - We had a really lovely 2-night stay. The breakfast and coffee were absolutely delicious, and we really enjoyed the beautiful, relaxing atmosphere.
At first, we were a bit unsure about the room, as it was located above the kitchen. However, the staff were very kind and happy to move us to another room, which we liked much more we really appreciated that.
It was a little bit noisy in the morning from neighbours, but overall it didn’t affect our stay too much. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, a very nice gentleman from Germany, which made the experience even more personal.

- Jacob (8/5): Amazing location, fantastic staff and brilliant food! - Amazing location and the staff were brilliant! The food in the restaurant is delicious and the drinks are gorgeous. Highly recommend!! There were some pests around which is to be expected but for the money it’s very much worth it!
Ganz klare Empfehlung! Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit!

- Petra (7/5): Urige Unterkunft in Strandnähe.
- Timothy (8/5): Many positives, but be aware... - The size of our particular room was nice. The shower had good pressure. The air conditioning was suited for the room. It is off the beaten track which is both good and bad. The staff overall was friendly and helpful, but it was off to a rocky start. They only take cash for the check in and that was discussed before we got there and we brought the millions of dong. When we arrived the lady in charge (forgot her name) greetings us with "Hi" a brief pause and then she says "money" Nothing was friendly about the interaction. It was more of a demand. It made both my wife and I have a "wtf?" moment. There was no "did you have a safe trip" or "hope you found the hotel without any problem" as its down an alley, or something that expresses a little bit of warmth and friendliness. I don't know if this was a cultural difference, but it didn't seem like it as the Vietnemese I have met are all very hospitable, but that one demand of "money" was a horrible way to start the vacation. With that said she and the staff was helpful, and was acessible on WhatsApp when we needed some help, but a little bit of wecloming courtesy would have been a huge help.
The room itself was large, and the bathroom itself had good water pressure, but had to wait a bit for the hot water, but it will come, but the beds were just foam it seemed. We didn't find them comfortable, but we are older and many might not find this an issue. There was a noticable lack of light in the room. During the day the sunlight was ok, but the many windows were all semi-obstructed, but the real issue was the light at night. There was a small light on the desk, and a large light overhead, but it didn't put out much light, so it was a bit gloomy in regards to lighting.
- Markus (6/5): - They we're friendly. We booked three roomes. First room was nice, second was ok, third was bad. Fotos are much better then reality. No possibility to cook water, no glasses, no fridge, no cleaning during 5 nights stay. I had to ask for fresh towels. We Had only 2. Last day, we let her organize a car to the airport for 250.000 for 4 people. Next day shortly before departure, she said we have to pay 450.000, because its a car for 7. It was a car for 4 at the end, but we had to pay 450.000.
- Gloria (6/5): Not so happy bird - It was quiet and the staff were lovely. Good food ! Very, very hard beds. Badly maintained. Shower did not work properly. Things falling apart. The exhaust in the bathroom collapsed. Stairs could barely fit a suitcase.

- Andrew (10/5): - Conveniently located next to the beach and the main street in An Bang in a quiet area. Nicely decorated with kind staff as well. As I stayed on a Sunday night, I didn't get to have breakfast the following morning but it does sound amazing.
- Arjen (7/5): Prima gelegen locatie, leuk plaatsje en dichtbij Hoi An.
- Keny Lau (6/5): Beautiful location and kind staff, but comfort and safety need attention - The location was perfect — close to the beach and in a peaceful area. The room had a beautiful design and felt very cozy. The staff were genuinely kind and helpful, and they responded quickly when I raised concerns. I also appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the overall charm of the property. I stayed at this B&B for five nights and truly appreciated the beautiful design and peaceful location near the beach. The atmosphere was lovely, and the staff were very kind and responsive throughout my stay.
However, the first room I was given had no air conditioning, which made it extremely difficult to stay comfortable in the heat — especially with temperatures around 30°C. To get airflow, I had to keep the main door and bathroom window open, even at night, which raised serious concerns about privacy, safety, and insects.
The bathroom window in particular was troubling. It faced a public walkway and had no curtain or blinds, making it fully transparent and exposed to anyone passing by. I felt uncomfortable using the bathroom, especially knowing there was a neighboring building directly beside it. At one point, someone even attempted to open the bathroom window from outside, which was very unsettling.
Leaving the door and window open also meant mosquitoes and other insects could easily enter the room, and I was genuinely worried that small animals might come in during the night. It was hard to relax or sleep comfortably under those conditions.
Thankfully, the staff were understanding and moved me to a different room with air conditioning for two nights. On my final night, the weather cooled down enough to sleep more peacefully.
I really wanted to love this place — and in many ways, I did. If the air conditioning and privacy issues were addressed, this would easily be a five-star stay. I’m grateful for the hospitality and hope future guests can enjoy an even better experience.
- Rachel (9/5): - A very friendly and welcoming b & b. The studio was lovely and comfortable with beautiful furnishings. The staff were all also kind and helpful. The studio was located above the kitchen, so was a little bit noisy at times and not so private. The bathroom was a bit dark and could use some more lighting.
- Molly (10/5): Very peaceful and beachy bungalow in a gorgeous garden - Super cute little bungalow in a very green garden. Just at the end of an bang, so super close to everything but a bit more peaceful! Very rustic, and has its own little cut through to the beach! The room has its own little outside area to hang out swim suits and read your book in the garden which I loved. I was a bit worried when I arrived abiut the lack of AC, but the building is built in the traditional way so the room stays very cool and there are also two fans if you need them. I stayed early/mid august and wasn’t too hot at all!
- FrangipaniF (7/5): -
- Astrell Whetu Marama (8/5): Nice place for short trip - Beautiful setting
Beautiful food No air conditioning.Hard to lock doors. Towels are tiny
- Currat (10/5): Cocooning - Super endroit
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Great people and place. Ideal location.
- Peter (10/5): THE COOLEST B&B IN VIETNAM - The property is exactly what you would hope a beach side B&B in Vietnam to be. Beautiful location, amazing food and drinks on site and some of the most beautiful people to deal with. Nothing was a hassle, everything was cool and guidance on An Bang and Hoi An was plentiful. What a fantastic place to rest and recharge. That we had to leave it.
- Vladimir (10/5): Exceptional - Le is a wonderful host. The food was delicious and we felt welcome. Good location very close to the beach. Thank you for a great stay.
- Ash (2/5): Unsatisfied - Location No air con - uncomfortable, owner was slack with communication- I paid cash 4 nights , left after 1st night , no refund
- Dominique (9/5): Superb -
- Hicham (10/5): The best accommodation in Hoi An - The location, the staff, the rooms and the surroundings were beautiful. Lê was very present and really made it feel like home more than anything. Nothing, it was all good
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gopinath (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yasmine (10/5): Exceptional - The room is beautifully decorated, clean. The garden is very pretty and well looked after. The morning coffee and food are delicious. Best place tos stay in An Bang for sure 👌👏 Nothing
- Jacob (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect - just a short walk to the beach or into the town and the garden was a great place to relax and cool down after a hot day on the beach. The breakfasts were excellent with lots of delicious fruit available.
- Troy (10/5): Exceptional - Really funky, colourefel place, great owner
- Henrietta (8/5): Pleasant stay. Lovely staff - Good location near to the quieter end of the beach. Very hard mattress which I got used to after night three.
- Min (8/5): Very good -
- Nash (7/5): Chill — just the vibe I was looking for. - Vibe and staff was 10/10. It felt very homey and peaceful. I’d stay there again next time I visit. The space could use a bit more TLC just to keep things updated especially some of the light bulbs don’t work.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (7/5): Cute location for the price - The location was ideal, the room was large for our group and the breakfast we bought was wonderful made by the staff. The staff were lovely and it was really cute for what it cost. The room was very dim lighting, we were woken early by the construction site next door which is not the properties fault but still annoying. The beds were a little uncomfortable but ok for the money. A few bugs but spray was available in the room to deal with them but they did not bother us.
- Cj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clarke (10/5): A Cute Boho Oasis! - The breakfast was so gooooood!! I will be dreaming of the chilli lime sauce! Please make a bottle in hand luggage size!😂 Lê was such a wonderful host, so friendly, helped us with anything&everything we needed! We stayed in a bungalow, which was super cute, we loved it. Loved the boho decor! The bungalow was clean, the entire premises just had a nice vibe. Location is great for getting in to Hoi An quickly, but also is located in the cutest little beach town too! Super picky, at night it was a little loud due to the neighbours pets in the property opposite
- Crystal (8/5): Stay in the summer, but not recommended during the rainy season - It’s a very cute B&B and the food was fantastic. It’s not sound proof as stated. The way the building is made, it was a very wet stay with the rain. Even our things that were dry upon arrival, were damp when we left.
- Padraig (10/5): Exceptional - Nice quiet b&b clean good food and lovely staff
- Jarek (9/5): Superb - Nice, cozy and quiet place. Tasty breakfast Bit loud fan in our room, not enough light.
- Jorgebolano (9/5): Superb -
- Sheikh (6/5): Pleasant - Location and staff. The fan is too small for the room. Don't come in summer.
- Coens (10/5): A cosy stay just a minute from the beach! - We loved the cute and cosy vibe! The owners were so helpful and just all around great and fun people :) But the thing we loved the most is the amazing breakfast they serve! You MUST try the Korean egg drop sandwich, best sandwich we ever had. Nothing
- Susi (8/5): Very good - The location was fantastic. It was a Bohemian type of place, which for us years ago would've been great. And the restaurant was nice. However, the shower was not fully functional, the mattress could've been better. And we thought we had Aircon and there wasn't any.
- Marie (8/5): Very good -
- Deborah (8/5): Relaxing beach stay at the end of our trip - The food and drinks were lovely and we especially enjoyed the slushies! It was nice to have the option to eat downstairs or elsewhere depending on what we were doing. The room is large so perfect for the whole family and quiet location at the end of the beach. Literally 4 minute walk to the beach and owners sent a list of great recommendations and were very good at communicating. The lighting in the room was really poor to be honest. Whilst the giant shade looks impressive it is too high up to spread any light and the same with the wall lights which are about 10ft up the wall and the light pointing down is blocked by the shade. One angle poise light was the only useable one. Suggest floor and lower wall lights and repaint giant light to just make it a feature.
The room was really warm as it was above the kitchen and on arrival we had get the batteries changed in the aircon to get it to work after which it was fine. It would have been good to have a stair light at the top of the stairs so we could see going up and down.
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (8/5): A great stay in a brilliant site close to beach and very good restaurants - Once in an air conditioned room our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Having food or drinks in the garden was great. Staff super friendly. Local beach very close and brilliant The initial room we had had no air conditioning and was too hot for older people
- Dominik (8/5): Very good - Very good optional breakfast.
- Sharmila (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gareth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kath (10/5): Simple. Perfect - The Happy Bird was so easy. My room was simple and elegant, with wooden and bamboo furniture, high ceilings and a big comfortable bed Double doors open out to the garden, which is beautiful and carefully tended. And the walk to the beach is a gentle (car-free) meander down a well-swept path past local village life.
The hosts are warm and professional - and quickly help guests feel at home, with plenty of tips to make the most of the local area. Not all rooms have aircon - which is fine in May because the fans are great. However if you are staying in July, and you like it cooler, book a room with aircon.
- Kelsey (8/5): Very good -
- Samuel (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent sanctuary tucked away from the main St and barely a few minute walk to the beach.
Owners were super lovely and gave great tips.
Garden great place to chill and felt no pressure to move
- Dag (10/5): Exceptional - The B&B was super cute, the owners so incredibly nice and helpful and the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. And the AC didn't sound like an earthquake, which is a rare thing around here!
- Guistini (9/5): Superb - The Happy Bird B&B is a little gem in the heart of A Bang Beach village. A few minutes walk to the beach, close to restaurants and little stores, hidden in a luscious garden oasis- a real gem! The food at the cafe is a little pricey, but delicious!
- Wendy (9/5): Superb - Really cute place. Nice quiet end of the village. Perfect hosts. Lovely breakfasts. I would recommend.
- Tracey (8/5): A short pleasant walk to a gorgeous beach with an enterprising local offfering drink/food delivery to your beach lou - Beautiful oasis patio! Beds were a bit hard for me and our room was quite darkly lit.
- Minh (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast is amazing ☺️ Micha and Kim are very welcoming and great hosts. It was a great place to stay and we would love to come back
- Claus (10/5): Exceptional - This place has a very special charming atmosphere. It is located near the beach in a village close to Hoi An. While Hoi An itself is dreadfully crowded and tourists are absolutely pestered to buy something from the army of street vendors this village is relaxed. Many nice restaurants but not overcrowded. Excellent location! Our Hosts Micha (he is German with an excellent command of English) and his German-Vietnamese wife Kim were extremely friendly and helpful. 👍🏻🙂 As this is a B&B, you can buy a bottle of wine in the store and enjoy it outside in the garden in the evening. Very relaxed and also a very good value for money. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
- Ana (7/5): Good - The garden is beautiful and bungalow was cute. The host was nice. It’s really close to the beach which is nice for warm sunny days, but as the weather quickly changed and it got cold and rainy i didn’t feel comfortable and decided to shorten my stay. Noise early in the morning, cold shower
- Marc (7/5): Cute with room for improvement. - The place was well designed and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. They organised a laundry service for us and drivers from and to the airport. Loved the garden! The location was great - away from the tourist areas and close to the beach. With the climate and the humidity, towels never became dry. I would recommend having at least 2 sets of towels or replacements. The bed was quite hard. We had problems with the water during our whole stay. The first and second day the hot water did not work, however was fixed quickly. Generally the water pressure was low and the warmth was inconsistent. It was boiling hot for 10 seconds and became cold for the following 10.
- Anonymous (10/5): I can’t wait to go back to this place! - It’s a lovely property, but what made it really great was Le. Her food was amazing and her friendliness was unparalleled. She really took care of as well.
- Tom (7/5): Good - Charming garden area and cute quirky beach huts. The lady working there is quite friendly and the breakfast menu is very original. Inaccurate listing - was expecting a separate living room and microwave in bungalow as per the listing. Other items in the description also don't exist. Very basic for the price and it's noisy early morning and early to mid evenings (no soundproofing). It's certainly not beachfront as advertised.
- Alex (7/5): Good -
- Ellias (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (8/5): Very good - Beautiful room, nice location in a little beach village and very good food.
Hosts and their staff were very helpful and nice all the time.
- Jonas (9/5): Superb -
- Toon (10/5): Exceptional - Very tasteful and peaceful B&B, 1 minute walk from the beach. Super friendly and particularly knowledgeable personnel. Trem helped us out in organizing our stay in an optimal way. I highly recommend this pearl, you will not be disappointed!
- Kellyamm (9/5): Superb - The room was well set up, very spacious and exactly like the pictures! There were unique and special touches/items in the room that were carefully thought out which made it beautiful. The colours of the B&B itself as a whole is amazing! I love the look of the place. It's a really great space to have breakfast and hangout or even get some work done! The staff honestly were amazing. Both the owners and employees were very personable, accommodating and always very responsive to my questions. I personally didn't have breakfast, but my friends were very positive about their meals and drinks. Its a close walk to the beach, bars,a couple minimarts and laundry. Honestly, very convenient location! Would definitely come back to stay here again. Theres only a couple things that I'd suggest. At night, although the lighting is beautiful and the fixture is great, it's not near bright enough for the size of the room. With all the surrounding lights on, it was a very low warm light and it didn't feel light enough at all.An alternating lightbulb would be a great help! Another noticeable issue was the temperament of the water temperature in the shower. It was near impossible to find a comfortable temperature. It was either scolding hot, or cold. So having a shower wasn't comfortable since it mainly had to be cold to avoid burning our skin! The location is extremely close to the beach so it's quite inevitable to get sand into your room. By the end of our stay in three days, we had collected a bit of sand which made things quite messy. A small broom placed in the room would've been helpful to keep the sand at bay since there wasn't any daily check up. All in all, these are minimal issues that can be improved so I'm glad to say it was a very positive experience despite these small issues!

- Piper (10/5): amazing beach side accomodation ❤️ - couldn’t have loved this beautiful property more! the owners were so friendly and helpful and our bungalow was gorgeous! right by the beach too ❤️ not to mention the breakfast was 10/10!! would come back in a heartbeat 💓
- Sabina (10/5): thank you and hope to see you soon somewhere in the world - Kim and Micha are one of the best hosts I met during 7 months of traveling around the world. I felt like home as soon as I arrived they have a great energy together and always keen for communication with the guests. the size of the B&B is very falialiar in a little village not far from the busy center. the beach is a 5 min walk. around the house there are many options for food and all you need. I wish I could have stayed longer. Make sure to get breakfast it is unreal, I had a porridge as good as at home :) everything was perfect
- Jitka (6/5): Pleasant - The accommodation is in a nice garden, the design is interesting, the nearby beach is very nice. After two nights we had to change the accommodation in the bungalow to a classic room (small bed) because it was terribly hot. The receptionist (Tram) offered us this change, she was the only one who behaved pleasantly. Otherwise we were very disappointed with the approach. When Europeans take care of the property the difference in behavior is striking. The worst motorbike in Vietnam at the highest price, they wanted almost double the normal price for the tickets to Cham Island. We didn't feel like guests at all like everywhere else in Asia. A lesson for us.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional - Happy Bird is a beautiful little gem nestling in a lush tropical garden just a 6 minute walk from the beach. Created and maintained with the upmost love and care by her owners, this attention to details radiates to a list of brilliant recommendations of the area, a lonely planet placed in each room and amazing drinks and breakfasts. Much kindness and thoughtfulness lives here. I didn't see the studio, howerver the bungalows are small but well appointed and have everything you need for your stay, including towels, soap, conditioner, mosquito net and a comfortable mattress. I wouldn't hesitate to return and only wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you so much for having me! I would happily pay a surcharge if there was a larger water dispenser guests could fill reusable bottles from. Just to help with the plastic waste.
- Katey (10/5): the food was so delicious and healthy presented so beautifully so relaxing and beautiful - setting was tranquil the hosts were genuinely kind and so helpful I took a while to get use to the hard beds but it was fine after a few days
- Anonymous (9/5): Dreamy! - owners were fantastic, they have poured a lot of love into the place. The room had a lot of cute design touches. If you are big people, the bed would be a little small.
The Happy Bird cafe was excellent! loved it. nothing!

- Rachel (10/5): Happiness found :) - Where do I start?! The Happy Bird is my new happy place! My Mum and I had the most amazing time, we didn’t want to leave. So relaxing and chilled out, the perfect place to stay in An Bang. So glad we chose to stay here instead of in Hoi An. Micha was the perfect host, so friendly, welcoming and helpful. He also makes the best coconut coffee! The gardens and seating areas are so lovely and peaceful, and our bungalow was really cool, the perfect beach bungalow. No air con which we knew was the case, but so not needed, the high ceilings and a fan did the job. Breakfast was sooo good, we sampled pretty much everything on the menu during our stay, it was all super yummy and fresh! The location is perfect, a short stroll down the lane to the beach, down the nice quiet end too. But still super close to the bars and restaurants of An Bang. We followed several of Micha’s recommendations for places to eat, drink, visit, which tailors to use, and so glad we did, they were all amazing! By far our favourite place in Vietnam, can’t wait to be back! Thanks Micha and Kim for the beauty of The Happy Bird nothing

- Aditya (10/5): Perfect beach stay. - Everything was perfect! Micha & Kim are super nice, & they made our stay here more beautiful. Trust me, you’d want to stay here more just because of them! (Do try the delicious smoothies they make!)
Its very close to the beach, some nice restaurants & shops nearby, so you’re sorted no matter what you need. Ništa!
